A Turn in Time

I'm sure we have all thought about going to the wizarding world we grew up on. But what would happen if someone actually did? I had a dream where I went into the books and was able to try and save all those we lost. With full knowledge of what was to come, how would it shape our favorite characters and their lives? Would it be better to just let the timeline run its course?

Disclaimer: Obviously I am Not J.K. Rowling nor do I own any rights. So this is just for viewing pleasure.

As of right now, this is not Beta'd or anything. If you come across terrible grammar just kindly let me know. Hope you enjoy!

Starts end of semester GoF

Also this is a shorter chapter. Think prequel...

Leeona had just finished cleaning up after supper and decided to delve into one of her favorite series. It was no surprise really that it revolved around the wizarding world that helped raise and shape her. Harry Potter was just as nostalgic to her as it was a new adventure every time. She could quote the movies as well as the books. The beloved characters were friends that she could visit any time she needed to confide in them, or follow in a daring adventure.

She stared at her bookshelf for a good minute before she settled on Goblet of Fire. This was not necessarily her favorite, but it was one of the last where the enigmatic trio was carefree of the adult world they were dragged into. Her heart clinched at the thought of what the end of the book would bring. She pushed the ache away, determined to enjoy the laughter and wholesomeness before she had to mourn.

Curling up with her weighted blanket and her French Vanilla Chai tea, she reverently opened to the beginning. Outside a storm kicked up as the thunder shook the house. She gripped the book to her chest as the rolling thunder echoed inside of her. She hated storms. Well that wasn't true. She loved a good storm, it was the thunder that frightened her. Logically she knew she should have been more afraid of the lightning, but the way the thunder pushed inside her hollowing chest always made her feel helpless. Frowning, she looked at her book once more, only to deepen her frown. She had apparently got a paper cut on her finger when she jumped. That alone wasn't such an issue, but now her book had a small blood smear on the first chapter page.

Great..

Taking a sip of her tea she read the familiar words of the first chapter.

The villagers of Little Hangleton still called it "the Riddle House," even though it had been many years since the Riddle family had lived there. It stood on a hill overlooking the village, Some of its windows boarded, tiles missing from its roof, and ivy spreading unchecked over its face.

She could see the once splendid house in her mind's eye as the words painted the familiar scene of Thomas Riddle's home. Another clap of boisterous thunder ripped the image away. Sighing, she took another sip of her tea.

Once a fine-looking manor, and easily the largest and grandest building for miles around, the Riddle House was now damp, derelict, and unoccupied.

She leaned into the amazing world that had always been able to sweep her away and place her into one of her favorite worlds. She knew there would be a point where the words would fade away and she would be living in the pages themselves. If magic had been real, that would have been hers. She loved being able to fully immerse herself into any book she was reading.

It must have been hours she sat there joining Harry in his quests. Facing the Hungarian Horntail, making up with Ron and his ridiculous jealousy, watching as Malfoy turned into a white ferret, Dobby giving him the Gilleyweed, Struggling to find a Yule Ball date, and preparing for the third task.

With a loud crash, her world was incased in darkness, causing her to accidentally spill some of her now cold tea down her front.

"Great!" She spluttered, as she hastily tried to wipe the cold beverage off of her and the pages of her book.

Now she had tea as well as blood on her precious book!

"Whats next?! Fire?" She really could cry right now for her poor book. She didn't relish the thought of having to replace the book, as these had memories of wear. These were the books she wanted to one day pass down to her children, if she ever had any. That path, so far, had been far from productive. She was missing a key element in the process. The other person.

Standing slowly, she stepped in the puddle from her spilled tea. Just then, a breeze hit the front of her soaked shirt causing her to gasp and shiver. She delicately pulled the chilled t-shirt material away from her body, and turned to retrieve her tea mug. Only, there was no mug, no book, no cover, no house.

Confused, Leeona looked around trying desperately to get her brain to connect the missing dots. She realized she was outside. Somewhere. This definitely wasn't outside her house or anywhere in the southern states of the US. Her brain seemed to grasp at the only conclusion that was safe. She was dreaming. She had full sensory dreams all of the time. It was exhausting but not uncommon. Relaxing slightly, she took in her surroundings again. To her left was a sparse forest and a castle just to the other side of that. It was Hogwarts! She would know that castle anywhere.

To her right was a hedge. It stretched as far down as she could see, with the only light from the moon. She was dreaming about the third task! This was definitely new. Sure she had dreams of Hogwarts before, but never this clear. Taking a tentative step forward, she discovered she was barefoot. This made logical sense, seeing as how she was ready for bed when she started reading that evening, But usually in her dreams she would have been dressed differently. The sound of cheers and music up ahead caught her attention. This was all wrong. Her dreams always had a fluffy sluggish aspect about them. Nothing was this clear. Ever.

She shakily extended her arm until her hand was a breath away from the hedge. She really wasn't sure why she was scared to touch it. It was just a dream, thank you very much. But as her hand connected with the waxy green leaves and firm scratchy twigs beneath, her stomach bottomed out. It was real. This wasn't a dream.

She was in the books. She was at Hogwarts.

Author's note: So this is short. But it really is more of a prequel. I just needed to set the scene, so to speak. I promise the next chapters get longer. And hopefully better. Please review and let me know what you think!
