Marvel Earth-2000: Another Day in New York
New York City. The sun glints off the glass skyscrapers as Spiderman swings through the bustling metropolis, his thoughts as light as the breeze.
"Man, I love this city," he muses, performing a lazy mid-air flip before landing on the edge of a rooftop. "No deadlines, no bad guys... just me, the skyline, and maybe a hot dog stand later."
Just as he stretches his legs, his Spidey-sense tingles. A swirling portal bursts open in the middle of a busy street below, sending cars screeching to a halt.
"Ah, there it is. That 'New York never sleeps' vibe," Spiderman mutters, peering over the edge.
Blue-armored Kree soldiers march out in formation, their blasters gleaming in the sunlight. Leading them is a bulky Kree officer with a buzz cut and a glowing gold mechanical eye, scanning the area like a predator sizing up its prey.
"This world will suffice," the officer declares, his voice metallic and cold. "Troops, secure this planet in my name!" With that, he steps back into the portal, leaving his army to wreak havoc.
Spiderman sighs. "Can't a guy have one day off?"
He swings down, feet first, knocking out two soldiers before landing gracefully on the asphalt. "Hey, guys! Is this one of those 'intergalactic tourist' things? Because I didn't see your visas."
"Spiderman! Take him out!" a soldier barks, aiming his weapon.
Lasers light up the street, but Spiderman moves like quicksilver, dodging blasts and flipping through the chaos. "You guys seriously need better aim," he quips, webbing two Kree soldiers together and yanking them into a nearby lamppost.
Just as the tide seems manageable, a deep growl echoes from the portal. A mutated AIM soldier, towering and grotesque, steps into view. Its muscles bulge unnaturally, its yellow suit stretched taut over its deformed frame. It roars, shaking the ground beneath them.
"Okay, that's new," Spiderman says, crouching instinctively. "And I already regret skipping breakfast."
The Kree soldiers pause, glancing nervously at their new ally. But before anyone can act, a deafening roar drowns out the chaos.
From above, the Hulk crashes down like a meteor, delivering a devastating punch that sends the AIM soldier sprawling.
"SMASH!" Hulk bellows, his voice shaking nearby windows.
Electricity crackles in the air as King Thor descends, landing with a thundering boom beside the green giant. His eyes glow with lightning, his hand raised to the sky. "FOR MIDGARD!" he roars, unleashing a storm of electricity that tears through the Kree ranks.
Spiderman looks up at his allies with a grin beneath his mask. "And here I thought today couldn't get any crazier."
With that, a red, white, and blue shield ricochets off several Kree soldiers before returning to a metal arm—Bucky Barnes, the Captain America of this era, standing tall with Iron Man, Dr. Strange, and Deadpool close behind.
Deadpool growls, stabbing a Kree with his katana before unloading his pistol into another. "UGGHH! Stupid Kree canceled my Japan trip for the cherry blossom festival! Screw you guys!"
"Apologies for the delay, Spidey," Bucky says, smashing a soldier with his vibranium arm. "This invasion caught us off guard."
No sooner had he finished than reinforcements arrived: the Fantastic Four and a squad of X-Men, led by Cyclops. Wolverine, X-23, Archangel, Colossus, Rogue, and Gambit leap into the fray, joining the chaos.
Spiderman flips between lasers, landing near Reed Richards. "Is it just me, or are we calling everyone today?"
Reed stretches his arm to deflect a blast, cool as ever. "With the Midnight Suns handling a demon outbreak and the Defenders tied up in Brooklyn, I'd say we have all hands on deck."
The Midnight Suns being Ghost Rider, Blade, Moon Knight, Man Thing, and Darkhawk.
While the Defenders are Daredevil, Power man(Luke Cage), Iron Fist, and the Punisher.
All hands indeed. Across the battlefield, Cyclops's optic beams tear through the ranks while Wolverine slices through soldiers with feral precision. The Human Torch torches ships in the sky, Ben Grimm smashes through Kree mechs, and Rogue lifts one soldier like a ragdoll before tossing it into a Kree dropship.
But even with their combined might, the wave of soldiers seems endless.
"There's no end to them!" King Thor growls, smashing a Kree into the ground.
Spiderman dodges a blast, flipping onto a lamppost. "I think I saw their leader go through that portal earlier!"
Iron Man hovers nearby, firing off repulsor blasts. "Target the head of the snake? Works for me."
Dr. Strange chants under his breath, flames coiling from his hands as he torches several enemies. "If we capture one of these soldiers, I can locate the leader's position and open a portal directly to him."
Deadpool grins beneath his mask. "Leave it to me!" In a flash, he hurls cables, expertly ensnaring a Kree soldier. Dragging the captive over, he smirks. "There. One fresh Kree, pre-basted. Now, Nerdman," he suddenly shouts to the sky, "what happened to Dr. Doom? You left us hanging at the end of Marvel vs RWBY: Definitive Edition! He's in Remnant, right? Where is he?! You're terrible at teasing future stories!"
The heroes glance at Deadpool, perplexed, before resuming the fight.
Strange takes the captive, his hands glowing as he mutters an incantation. "I can't hold the portal for long. We'll need a small team to push through and stop this invasion at its source."
Bucky steps forward. "I've got it. Spiderman, Wolverine, Mr. Fantastic—let's end this."
"Only doing this to keep Laura safe," Wolverine grumbles, cracking his knuckles.
"A logical choice," Reed says, stretching his limbs as he steps forward.
"Hang on," Iron Man interjects, tossing Spiderman a sleek briefcase. The latch snaps open, and the red-and-gold Iron Spider suit unfolds. "You'll need this."
Spiderman dons the suit, the iconic metallic legs extending as he tests the fit. "Okay, this? Kinda awesome."
Strange exhales, straining as the portal expands. "Go now!"
Without hesitation, the four heroes leap into the swirling void, vanishing toward their next challenge.
The heroes land in a circular stone platform floating in the vast expanse of space. A single ornate throne sits at its center, its occupant slowly turning to face them—a massive, muscular Kree warrior.
"Hmph. Some of Earth's heroes dare to challenge me directly?" His voice booms, filled with contempt. "Let's see if you can withstand the power of Ultimus!" With a roar, cosmic energy crackles to life around him.
"Everyone, spread out!" Bucky shouts, raising his shield just in time to deflect a searing cosmic beam. The blast ricochets harmlessly off his vibranium shield.
Wolverine snarls and dashes in, claws extended. "Let's see how tough you really are, bub!" He leaps at Ultimus from behind, aiming for a surprise strike. But the Kree turns with inhuman speed, grabbing Logan mid-air and slamming him into the ground with bone-shattering force. The stone cracks beneath them.
Logan, unfazed, drives his claws into Ultimus's arm. The Kree roars in pain, hurling Wolverine aside before stomping down hard on him.
"Hey, big guy!" Spider-Man swings in, firing a flurry of webbing. "Quick question—did the Kree scientists go, 'Let's make the most generic space villain ever,' or is that just you?" He taunts, weaving through Ultimus's swipes.
Ultimus tears the webbing away, but a sudden elastic punch from Mr. Fantastic knocks him off balance.
"I'm not just a scientist," Reed says, stretching his arms to land a flurry of punches. "I can hold my own in a fight, too."
Ultimus snarls, grabbing Reed's arms and channeling a surge of cosmic energy through them. Reed grimaces, his form flickering under the assault.
Before the Kree can press his advantage, Bucky charges in, slamming his shield into Ultimus's side and following it up with a punch from his vibranium arm. "Stay focused! Keep hitting him from all sides!"
Ultimus's frustration boils over, his cosmic aura flaring brighter. "Enough! I will annihilate you all!"
"We'll see about that," Bucky growls. "Everyone, hit him with everything you've got!"
Spider-Man webs Bucky's shield and slingshots it toward Ultimus with incredible force, the impact staggering the Kree. Wolverine leaps onto Mr. Fantastic's makeshift slingshot, launching himself at Ultimus. His claws strike true, shattering the Kree's mechanical eye.
"Now! All at once!" Bucky commands.
The heroes converge, each delivering a decisive blow. Wolverine's claws, Reed's elastic punches, Spider-Man's acrobatics, and Bucky's shield strike Ultimus in unison. The final blow shatters his chest plate, releasing a burst of energy.
"No... this can't be..." Ultimus gasps as his form begins to disintegrate. "I have ruled across universes... How could it end here?" His voice fades as he dissolves into nothingness.
Back on Earth, Ultimus's troops vanish as Doctor Strange conjures a portal. "Hurry! The platform is collapsing!" he shouts.
Spider-Man webs Wolverine, pulling them both through. Reed stretches to grab Bucky, the four heroes diving through the portal just as the stone platform crumbles into the void.
The group lands on solid ground, exhausted but victorious.
"Next time you grab me like that, web-head, I'm stabbing you," Wolverine growls, begrudgingly adding, "...But thanks."
"You all fought bravely," Bucky says, addressing the heroes gathered around him. "We couldn't have done it without you protecting Earth."
"Bah, it was nothing, mon ami," Gambit says with a grin, stowing his staff.
Iron Man steps forward, giving Bucky a nod. "Gotta hand it to you, Barnes. You're proving to be a worthy Captain America."
Bucky smiles. "Thanks, Tony."
"Hey, let's take a picture!" Spider-Man suggests, already pulling out a camera.
"Fantastic idea," Reed says with a grin.
"Oh no, not you too, Stretch!" the Human Torch groans.
Deadpool teleports in at the last second, posing dramatically as the camera flashes. The next day, a headline reads:
"Earth Saved! Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Deadpool, and Spider-Man Stop Alien Invasion!
Far above Earth, the Silver Surfer watches solemnly. "This world is safe for now... but I cannot shake the question—where is Doctor Doom? And what are his Masters of Evil planning?" His gaze lingers on Earth as he vanishes into the stars.
