Today, we're going to see Heather and Janice talk about the recent events with Good 'ol Charlie Brown.
Chapter 9: Charlie Brown is Being a…
Heather and Janice arrive at the park and sit on the swing sets. Now… they're just sitting on the swings as the redhead is feeling really gloomy.
"I don't get it." Janice begins. "Why does Charlie Brown still keep running away from us? What have we ever done that would make him leave us constantly?"
No response from the other girl.
"Heather, are you listening?"
Heather snapped out of the zone. "Oh sorry, Janice. I still can't believe Charlie Brown threw away the letter I wrote to him. It was supposed to make him feel good about himself and be friends with us again."
Janice looks disappointed as well. "What he did was just absurd! How can he possibly hate a letter from you? You're his penpal! Linus even told me that nobody else wanted to be his penpal during the summer!"
Heather recalls that moment. "I know. It must have been awful for Charlie, nobody wanted to be his penpal. Nobody…"
Janice looks even upset. "Charlie Brown is not making any sense! Ignoring us ever since school started! That was over a month ago! How long is he going to keep doing this?"
"I wish I knew the answer, Janice." Heather replies. "It makes me feel bad that Charlie Brown doesn't trust us and would rather be alone."
"Exactly my point! There's Linus, Franklin, Schroeder, Pigpen, Peppermint Patty, Marcie, you, and me!" Janice lists out all the names. "Charlie Brown has a lot of friends! Why won't he talk to one of us?"
"What I don't understand the most is why Sally didn't inform us anything about Charlie Brown. We asked her if she can help us and what? No response from her whatsoever." Heather says as she gets off her swing and kicks a pebble. Crossing her arms, Heather mutters something underneath her breath.
"What was that?" Janice questions her friend.
The redhead sighs, "...nothing. This ridiculous situation is really testing my patience."
Janice becomes a bit bewildered after hearing Heather's statement. She never thought she would hear Heather getting annoyed or upset at something. Whenever something outrageous happens, Heather is always keeping calm and in a good mood. Then again, she is human like everyone else. She is bound to get to her limit someday.
"Janice, Charlie Brown needs to stop this and talk to us! It just doesn't seem like he would ever do such a thing like this! He can't keep this up! I mean, really! Charlie Brown is being a…"
Heather stops immediately, realizing what she was about to say. She never thought she would say that insulting name like Lucy.
"Acting like a what, Heather?" Janice raises an eyebrow.
"I- Eh- Uh- Nevermind." Heather doesn't want to talk about it. "Anyway, Charlie Brown is feeling bad, I know. But that's not a reason for ignoring us."
"I agree. What have we done to him that would make him not want to see us?" Janice then gets an idea. "Hold on, I think I know how we can get Charlie Brown to come and speak to us."
Heather lightens up. "Really? What do you have in mind?"
"You know that Halloween is coming up?" Janice asks.
"Yes."
"And you also know that there will be a party at school on that day?"
"Yes."
"Well, we should all make an invitation letter to Charlie Brown and ask him to join us trick-or-treating."
Heather seems to go along with the idea except for one thing. "I like what you're thinking but I don't think Charlie Brown wants to read a letter from us. Remember that I told you he threw mine seconds later?"
"Oh, that's right." Janice almost forgot. "Hold on, I think I have a better solution."
"What's that?" Heather wonders.
"Well, Linus told me a little thing or two when Charlie Brown somehow but not really, got the highest scores on an exam." Janice recalls what Linus said.
"Oh yeah." While Heather recalls that time. "It wasn't his test, it belonged to Peppermint Patty and he told everyone what happened. Wish he would do the same thing right now."
"Well, got anything in mind that you want to wear this Halloween?"
"No, not really." Heather didn't give much thought about it since she's been focusing more on the problem with Charlie Brown.
"Well, this idea involves us and the rest of our friends to cheer up Charlie Brown in a way that'll surely surprise him!" Janice grabs Heather's arm. "Come on, let's go tell everyone!"
"Wow, this idea must be really exciting!" Heather says getting dragged. "I really wonder what it is!"
To be continued…
What is Janice's idea? You'll have to wait and see.
Oh boy, Heather sounded really upset calling Charlie Brown a certain name.
The next chapter will come out this Halloween!
…
…
…
Nah, just kidding. It'll appear sooner rather than later.
But the next chapter will involve the Peanuts gang taking part in the spooky holiday. We'll also finally get to see Snoopy and Woodstock again. It's been a while since we've last seen them.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day.
