Why did it take so long to finish the story?
Life happened. When I started this story, I was in College, trying to pass the time but also get my education and find a job. Then I had to leave Colorado and go back home to help my family in California for 10 months. In May of 2024 I moved to South Dakota to find work and get settled. During these times, I was getting burned out and wanted to take a break. In hindsight, I do wish I had only taken a small break during my 10 month period in CA, but it is what it is. The other thing, and I in any way do not say this to be disrespectful or disregard any support I have received throughout my time writing this story, is I wish more people had given more feedback. I was really wanting to know how people felt in the later chapters. At the end of the day, I am grateful to everyone who has viewed this Fanfiction and continues to view it for years to come. I have never done something like this and for it to get this much popularity as it has and I am grateful for it truly.
What inspired you to write this story?
What inspired me was the Elizabeth companion mod by yscsn and upon beating New Vegas with the mod, I felt the need to want more of it. Thing is there were limitations not just with dialogue but also modding and I have not much desire to mod as I took three years of Computer Science, not really becoming interested in the field. Then I decided to replay Bioshock Infinite after many years and its dlc, only fueling further that there was a story to be told in order to give Elizabeth a better ending. I then read other Fanfictions of her and felt there was more to do with her character. And that's how it all started.
Why did you not have many chapters during Elizabeth's pregnancy?
The main reason is trying to wrap up the story. I do have ideas on a sort of short story that takes place during the jump before Chapter 36, but I really in short wanted to end this story since it was taking so long to finish. I can easily tell as I was re reading this one last time that it was really starting to drag in a way.
Why didn't you include XYZ?
I spent hours upon hours seeing what would line up with my vision and what I included seemed to line up the best. I couldn't include everything that New Vegas had to offer and have it make sense.
Do you have plans for a sequel?
I have ideas for a sequel with most of the DLC being the front runner of it, switching perspectives between Elizabeth and Evan. I also have an idea of a sort of short story between Chapter 35 - 36 as well as maybe taking place leading up to Elizabeth's Delivery as another story. However, I'll only do it if there's a demand for any of these.
Was there a significance to writing the story?
I wrote this story for many reasons but one of the main reasons I wrote it as a sort of outlet way to cope with things going on in my life. Since I have had a bad run with therapy, this book became a sort of way to cope with things going on in life. Obviously there are more reasons, but for privacy this was the main one. It has definitely helped, but all good things come to an end and it was time to end this story.
Do you have any other plans for stories?
I have an idea for a Last of Us Part Two rewrite but that is about it. Maybe one day I will but as of right now, no.
