cjydxyyn-Good job!As a wonderbat fan I like this work!
WonderBat fans are practically VIPs in this establishment.
Essiter1987-One heck of a chapter. One Hell of a chapter! This was awesome! Almost as awesome as the Castlevania-themed Old Man Jaune chapter - That is still my absolute favorite yours!
And, yeah, you're Bruce probably can't do that, but seeing as he's one of the very few people to repeatedly sneak up on Clark, has taken the Power Ring from multiple Lanterns, and defeated literal Gods himself, there's a very slim chance he could do it. If she was distracted enough...
But, yeah, DC, and Marvel, have a tendency to nerf the Gods. They kind of have to, or otherwise not even Superman could face off against them and win. Hell, he only won against the literal Krytonian Goddess of Strength because she had less stamina than him. At least I think he fought the Krytonian Goddess of Strength once upon a time. Might be wrong about that.
Also, damn, I know I haven't readd all that many comic, but I did not know that they actually gave Harley and Joker a child. That... is disturbing for many reasons. I do know about Punchline, though, and that apparently Joker actually seems to genuinely care about her, unlike Harley.
Well, I'm looking forwards to seeing what happens next. This has been awesome!
I loved that one, too. I really need to remake OMJ one day. So much potential, but poorly executed. KOG replacing it didn't help either.
I looked it up. Turns out she's the goddess of... Oh, my God. Superman fought the Goddess of Darkness before Batman did. *snicker* What are the odds?
It was actually in the Injustice Universe. Lucy was their daughter.
They also had a child in the White Knight storyline where Joker cured himself to become the heroic Jack Napier to show Batman he could be a better hero, and he succeeded. He also genuinely loved Harley and their children, but the chemicals that made him Joker were too powerful in the end. He was sadly killed as the Joker, but Jack had one last moment of life to tell Harley he loved her. God, that was beautiful.
Punchline is fairly new. Even I found out about her totally by accident thanks to YouTube Shorts.
Red Hood ran at Joker, shooting at the clown. Joker's smile widened when the bullets hit, the mirror shattering to pieces.
Hood just kept running, avoiding the Joker's shots, more mirrors shattering to pieces. Hood just kept running until he saw Joker and ran at him.
Joker noticed Hood running at him and shot at the hero, the bullet grazing Jason's shoulder. Knowing Joker was in front of him, Jason raced toward Joker and jumped at him. He then swung the butt of his gun at Joker's head with all his might.
His strike landed, and Joker shattered, shocking Red Hood. "WHAT?!"
"I could give Mirror Master a run for his money, don't you think?"
Before Red Hood could react, he was smacked in the face by a crowbar with such force that he was sent flying through five mirrors, slamming onto the sixth one, and falling to the ground. His mask was cracked, close to shattering. He could feel that some of his ribs were cracked, and at least one was broken. He also felt some glass shards in his body, the blood seeping out of his wounds. He also began to cough violently, feeling the brunt of the blow.
"Wow. That looked like it really hurt," Joker said as he stood over Red Hood. "Well, isn't this scene familiar? If only it were the actual anniversary. It would be so poetic. Still, let's see if we can recapture the magic of the memory." Joker then began to strike Jason with the crowbar. "Ooh, I actually think we're doing better than we did all those years ago. So, let's try and clear this up, okay, pumpkin? What hurts more? A?" SMACK. "Or B?" SMACK. "Backhand?" SMACK. "Or forehand." SMACK.
Joker laughed as he saw Red Hood beaten on the ground. "You know, Jason, I think you're my favorite of Batsy's kiddos. And no, it's not just because you were a fun pinata." Joker stood up and paced around Hood. "You grew up into SUCH a fine young man. I was so proud when you came back from the grave. That party you threw for me and Bats? Ooh, full marks all the way. And how you were putting your art classes to good use by painting Gotham red, it brought a tear to my eye." Joker sniffled. "You were such a good boy," he said in a cracking voice.
Joker then sighed. "But, of course, Bat Dad disapproved of your projects and made you drop out of Kill College and brought you back to the family business. SUCH!" SMACK. "A WASTE!" SMACK. "OF TALENT!"
Joker sighed as he walked in front of Jason and squatted down in front of the unmoving hero. "You know, Jason... the reason Batsy was able to bring you back into the family business... It's because there wasn't enough chaos. You think I'm a monster because, what, I kill people? I torture them? Break a family here and tumble a building there. . . So what? YOU killed mobsters to get to me. Batman tortures plenty of crooks to get info, even though he could go SO much farther than he does. I suggest using those Batarangs to cut people's fingers off, personally. Oh, and breaking up a family? These days, you just gotta make up a lie about one of the spouses cheating, and BOOM! DIVORCE! Tumbling down a building? There's probably an earthquake or a mudslide or SOMETHING done by nature that's making my work look amateurish at best. At worst, I'm just a baby pushing down its building blocks."
"Let's face it, Jason. I'm not a monster. I'm not even a force of nature. I'm just the guy an ACTUAL force of nature finds funny. My little girl is going to be her next big star, and I couldn't be happier. If you want, you can join in the fun. You still have it in you, right? The REAL Red Hood. The one who wasn't afraid to play with the Big Boy toys. Who was ready to point these pretty little birdies," he began as he lifted Hood's arm, the hero still holding his gun... and placed it on his forehead. "Right at this spot and pull the trigger. THAT'S the REAL Red Hood."
Jason's grip tightened around the gun as he looked up, glaring up at Joker behind his mask.
Joker's smile widened. "That's it. THAT'S the look. Welcome back home, sonny boy. Make Papa proud."
BANG.
Harley coughed as she regained consciousness, looking up to see Joker's Ringmaster cape flying around in the shape of a ball.
"Oh, you're awake." Harley looked to see Eris smiling down at her, Lucy still in her lap, almost completely done eating the cotton candy. "And here I thought you'd sleep through the rest of the show."
Harley didn't hesitate to lunge at her daughter to smack the cotton candy out of her grip.
SNAP.
Harley's eyes widened when she saw her hand dangling limply on her arm after Eris merely smacked it away. And somehow, the pain was amplified, making even Harley scream in pain as she fell to one knee.
"Ah-ah-ah. You shouldn't take a girl's treat away from her, especially when it was given to her as a gift. That's just mean," Eris said with a sadistic grin.
Harley glared at Eris before she shot up with a roar, throwing a punch at Eris's face. Her punch landed, but Eris didn't even twitch. Harley's eyes widened before they sharpened in anger as she screamed again while continuously punching Eris's smug face.
Eris then laughed. "Oh, this is HILARIOUS! I can't believe something as pathetic as you used to be Joker's right hand.
"LET! GO! OF! MY! DAUGHTER!"
"Oh, didn't you here? She's MINE now." Eris then looked down. "Just. One. More. Bite."
Harley looked down to see the blank-faced Lucy lick her lips before leaning in for the last bite, Harley crying at the sight of it. "No," she sobbed silently.
BANG.
Lucy bit... into the air, the cotton candy stick she was holding with the last bit of cotton candy on it falling to the ground.
"Eh? What just happened," Eris asked with a raised eyebrow as she saw the candy hit the ground.
Joker looked at Jason's gun in his other hand, the barrel still smoking. "What just happened?"
Jason then used his helmet to headbutt Joker, catching the villain off guard. It also caused the mad clown to release his crowbar.
Red Hood didn't hesitate to catch the tool and smack Joker across the face with all his strength. He could HEAR and FEEL Joker's skull crack. Hood didn't let up, using the butt of his gun to uppercut Joker in the chin, followed by a spin swing with the crowbar that made Joker stumble back.
Then, holstering his gun and holding the crowbar like a baseball bat, Jason put every last bit of strength he had left in his body and swung with all his might. He hit Joker right in his mouth, shattering the clown's smile.
Joker was sent flying, his teeth scattering before he fell to the ground, blood pouring out of his mouth as he screamed in anguish.
Red Hood was panting heavily as he looked down at the suffering Joker, the man screaming under his covered mouth. Hood then looked at the crowbar in his hand, seeing his arm shaking. He then tightened his grip on the tool, stopping his shaking before looking at Joker, and walking over to the villain with a resolved glare. He then held the crowbar over his head, ready to swing it down on Joker with all his might.
He was about to finish it.
Then, he thought about his family. Bruce, Dick, Luke, Tim, Barb, Kath... and now Diana. He thought about what Wonder Woman might have done in his position... and realized she might have killed him. But then... he thought about what Batman... what his father would do. He knew that even after everything Joker did, he still would have saved him.
Besides, Joker WANTS Batman to kill him... or for Red Hood to kill him. And Jason will be damned before he gives Joker ANY kind of victory.
So, he prepared to knock Joker out... until Joker began to laugh. It was low at first until it grew into his infamous cackle.
"Aah, Hoodie. You were so vicious just now. So cruel, so ruthless. It was glorious. Too bad you couldn't see it through," Joker said with his back turned to Hood.
Hood's eyes widened. "Wait, I smashed your teeth out. Why don't you have so much as a lisp!?"
Joker then turned his head toward Jason, a smile on his lips. Then, he gave a toothy grin. A FULL TOOTH grin.
"WHAT?!"
Joker then spat out his broken teeth at Red Hood like they were bullets. And like bullets, they pierced Red Hood's armor, severely damaging the hero. What's worse, the teeth went through Jason's left wrist, his right knee, his right thigh, his lower left abdomen, and nearly cut his carotid artery. It was too much damage for him to keep standing, and Jason fell to his knees.
Joker chuckled evilly as he stood back up, his wounds already healing.
"How," Jason wheezed out.
"Oh, kiddo, maybe you forgot. This circus? This show? This game of ours? It's all sponsored... BY A GODDESS! AN ACTUAL, REAL-LIFE, STRAIGHT FROM GREECE GODDESS! OOH, I HAVEN'T HAD THIS MUCH FUN WITH MAGIC SINCE THAT IMP GAVE ME HIS POWERS AND I GOT TO TORTURE BATSY! That nearly destroyed my brain, by the way. The way Batsy beat me, I mean. Aah, Hoodie, you really, really, REALLY missed out on her offer. The things you can do when you have a goddess for a sugar mommy. And she is SWEET! And she's gonna be one HELL of a mommy to my kiddo. I can't wait to see what my little girl grows up into," Joker said as he took out one of his favorite guns, a revolver with a comically long barrel. "Too bad you won't be around to see it," Joker said with a sad sigh.
Jason felt the barrel on his helmet, looking up defiantly at Joker, struggling to breathe as he glared at the villain.
"Ah, Hoodie. Stubborn to the end. Your dad will be proud," Joker said.
'Bruce. . . Sorry. I wish I could keep fighting... but it looks like I'm done,' Jason thought as he continued to glare at Joker.
ARE YOU TRULY DONE, MORTAL?
Jason's eyes widened when he heard the voice. He was shocked again when he saw he was in a white void. "What? What is this? Where am I?"
"In a realm that Eris won't be able to interrupt us in, let alone her pet jester."
Jason looked toward the voice, shocked once more when he saw who it was. "ARES!"
"Why the hell are you here," Jason yelled before groaning in pain.
"Foolish mortal," Ares said as he looked down at the bloody hero. "A gift is about to be bestowed upon you, and this is how you show gratitude?"
Jason glared at the God of War and one of Wonder Woman's worst enemies. "What are you talking about?"
Ares continued to look down at Jason. "Do you know why you cannot defeat this ridiculous jester?"
"Oh, enlighten me, oh God of Wisdom. Oh, wait. That's the GOOD one." Jason then felt pain from Ares's tremendous pressure. Just being near the War God was tormenting Jason until the pressure subsided.
"Know your place, mortal. I am the God of War. You should be grateful that I'm even speaking to you. This is no different from an insect speaking to a lion."
Jason chuckled. "Careful, Ares. Lions are afraid of African Army Ants and for damn good reason." Jason was then slammed onto the ground by Ares's pressure.
"Look at you. This isn't even groveling anymore. You are so weak, so helpless before a god that you can't even take your face off the ground. Pathetic."
Jason glared at Ares. "Fuck... you," he strained.
"Mm, even in my presence, you still struggle. . . Admirable. It seems you are worthy of being my Champion."
"What," Jason strained.
"The reason that clown is humiliating you so much is because he is a God's Champion. A mortal chosen by a god to be their Harold on Earth. Did my sister ever tell you, boy? The powers of the gods are greatly limited when among mortals UNLESS we have a medium. I suppose you can compare us to those pathetic Lords. Like that Witch Boy or that Dr. Fate. The difference is, killing or destroying our mediums will only weaken us, not destroy us like those insects."
"Why... are you... telling me. . . No."
"Oh, so you've realized. Maybe you mortals received Prometheus's gift of knowledge and wisdom after all."
Jason forced himself onto his feet, glaring at Ares the entire time. "If you think... I'm going to work with you... You're out... of your..." Jason groaned as he almost fell to one knee. "Out of your..." His knee was about to hit the ground before his eyes shot open with determination as he stood back up. "OF YOUR GODDAMN MIND!"
Ares stared at Jason. "Mm. Impressive. Still, you are a fool, boy. Do you truly believe Hephaestus's toys will help you defeat Eris and her Champion?" Jason glared at Ares. "Do you believe my sister, a mere demi-goddess can stop Eris from feeding that girl the last bite of power needed to make the child her next Champion?" Jason's eyes softened, filling with doubt. "Do you honestly believe you, with your current power, can prevent your father from being taken to Nyx, so that he can be remade and molded into her Champion."
Jason's eyes widened in horror. "NO!"
"I'm giving you a chance, boy." Ares held out his hand. "Become my Champion. I am willing to set aside my grievance with my sister and grant you my power. You will be the Champion of War, and all of my power will be yours to wield against our common foe. What say you, mortal? Do you wish to win this war?"
Jason stared at Ares's hand before he sighed. "Goddamn you."
"Fool. Did you forget?" Ares then smirked, his eyes now a blazing flame. "I AM a god."
Joker fired, the bullet moving in slow motion as it raced toward Red Hood's forehead. Then, the bullet turned to dust.
"What the-" Joker went with a raised eyebrow.
Red Hood then began to glow before an explosion occurred.
Everyone looked at Joker's cloak as it began to glow, the fighting stopping when it began to glow like a beacon. Then, it blew up.
Joker yelled out in surprise as he was sent flying out of his own cape, landing at Eris's feet.
Eris blinked down at her Champion before looking at where he was sent flying from.
The cape burned away, revealing Red Hood. However, he looked very different.
His uniform greatly resembled Wonder Woman's, his vest now resembling Spartan armor, save for the spikes on his shoulders. The red Bat symbol on his chest looked like it was on fire. His pants remained the same, but Wonder Woman was horrified to see the symbol of Ares on his right thigh. His boots looked to be made of bronze, with spikes that looked like they could pierce through steel at the bottom of them. Even his helmet was changed, with the Greek symbol of War on the sides of them.
Eris stared at Red Hood, looking less than impressed. "Mm, Punchline, sweetie, mind holding this for me," she asked as she tossed Lucy over to the crowd.
"MY BABY," Harley screamed.
"I GOT IT! I GOT IT," Punchline yelled as she tried to catch the hypnotized Lucy.
Red Hood raised a hand, a giant vulture swooping down and catching Lucy.
"I don't got it," Punchline asked.
Marian tried to shoot the vulture, but her first three shots seemed to only make the vulture bigger than it was before. She looked at her gun. "Is this a pistol or a water gun," she asked.
The vulture flew toward Harley, grabbing her with its other talon, easily carrying Harley and her daughter away, dropping them near Wonder Woman.
Wonder Woman looked down at Harley as she hugged her daughter, sobbing as the vulture flew away, Wonder Woman watching it fly into the night sky. 'The vulture is one of Ares's symbols. . . He wouldn't,' Wonder Woman thought as she looked at Jason sadly.
Ballerina tried to kick Wonder Woman, thinking she let her guard down. However, Wonder Woman caught the clown's kick and broke her ankle. Ballerina screamed in pain before falling to the ground, convulsing before the magic left her, returning to a normal woman.
Yet, Wonder Woman didn't even notice her defeated foe. All she could do was stare sadly at Red Hood. 'Was this... because I was too weak,' she thought.
Eris sighed as she got up from her seat, Joker hopping back to his feet.
"So you rejected my power, only to accept Old Man Ares's power? I'm hurt, Hoodie," Eris said with a puppy dog pout.
"Come on, Hoodie. Just because she gave me power doesn't mean she is out of stock. Her heart's more than big enough to give you some magic."
"It's true. It is," Eris said as she placed her hands on her chest.
"So what do you say, kiddo? Wanna join the family," Joker asked as he hugged Eris, the goddess winking at Red Hood.
"What do I say? I say..." Red Hood pointed a finger gun at Joker and Eris. "Bang."
An explosion of magic blasted out of Red Hood's finger, racing at the two.
"Ooh. Pretty," they both said in unison before the magic hit them.
