Chapter 15
Many years ago, the young blonde blue eyed boy skipped through the streets, moving past several trees when he reached a forest like area, and bouncing across the river, taking note of the different animals that were naturally around.
He continued shifting through the forest, and bouncing up and down trees, weaving through them as quickly as he could, holding a piece of paper between his fingers, all the while his bright eyes showcasing his excited feelings.
Eventually, he arrived to see, a young Aizen, sat on a log, in the throws of peace, and quiet, until Zensuke arrived, flipping in the air as he did so, his feet pushing firmly into the dirt, his eyes shining.
"Hey, Sosuke-san~ Phew, I'm glad that I caught you before you left for the day."
Aizen looked up from his book, their eyes meeting one another's, and Aizen showed a friendly smile.
"Hello, Zensuke-kun. What's-"
"I just made Lieutenant~" Zensuke revealed.
Aizen coughed, showing genuine surprise on his usually calm face. "Sorry? You've become a Lieutenant…"
"Yeah~ Isn't it amazing~?" Zensuke couldn't be more happy about it.
Aizen still looked astonished, and thought "He's made Lieutenant this young huh..." but kept his thoughts at bay for the time being, looking at the young boy, who's smile was growing by the moment.
"That's quite an achievement." Aizen praised.
Zensuke inclines. "Yeah, I can't believe it. But, one step closer to being a Captain, might even make it before you~"
Aizen curls his lips. "I see, is that a challenge?"
Zensuke flashed his earnest grin. "Of course, Sosuke-san!"
Aizen's eyes furrowed ever so slightly, as he saw Zensuke staring as if he was looking into Aizen's soul.
He always knew even as a child, Zensuke was acutely aware of his surroundings, he was very smart.
Though Aizen couldn't keep off the smile gracing his face…
In present day, after the situation with Aizen had been deal with, Zensuke was looking over the downed Tosen, Komamura, Iba, and Hisagi, checking on them, and began doing his own thing, in preparations for Aizen to come, along with others in the Gotei 13.
He was together with Kisuke, and Yoruichi, the latter looking as if she didn't want to see Zensuke having to deal with this, knowing the Soul Society would be on the way at any time now.
"I'm sure Rukia-chan's gonna be contacted about my activities here in the Human World...dragging Rukia-chan into this..." As he said it, Zensuke swiftly was working on Tosen's form, his fingers moving so fast even Yoruichi was having slight problem keeping up with the movements.
""What do you think Aizen-san will do now?" Kisuke questioned, raising an eyebrow at the young man.
"Honestly, until I see him face to face, I've got a few scenarios running through my mind… But, I'll know for sure, when I meet him face to face. That's when the games begin."
Kisuke could see his sons hand tightening.
It was clear that he had many emotions inside, he felt the same, wishing Aizen didn't involve his son, wishing it was him that Aizen would go after, but knew Aizen would go after what he cherished most, and that was his child.
"I'll go and make the last minute preparations, just make sure that you're ready, Zensuke. Aizen-san is a very cunning man, he will challenge you even in front of others. His Zanpakuto can make them hear anything, he can make them see anything, remember that, Zensuke. He'll use it to make you look even more guilty if he has the chance."
Zensuke nods his head a single time, showing his gentle smile. "Yeah, I understand, father. I've got some plans for Kyoka Suigetsu, and Sosuke-san."
Kisuke inhaled. "Then I wish you luck. As for the others, I've sent word for them to head to Inoue-sans for extra protection. He shouldn't know about them, but in case that he does, they'll be safe there, I'll make sure of it."
Zensuke was thankful for his father for doing that, allowing him to focus on making sure all of his set up was complete, minding the time, making sure that he did everything as quickly as he could do, knowing Aizen wouldn't be wasting anytime.
"I wish we had more time, but I think doing this shall be enough. Unohana-san isn't going to accept that I'd do this so easily. She's a smart woman, so I can see her being able to pick up on notable differences."
Yoruichi raised a brow at his words. "Oh? You seem sure Unohana-san wouldn't."
Zensuke glanced at the Goddess of Flash, seeing her eyes looking at him in a peculiar manner.
"We've gone through things together, I've seen sides of her, many haven't before, at least in my generation, and I've known her for ages now, so I trust she also trusts in me, and understands this wouldn't be me, especially after everything that's been going on."
Yoruichi adopts a sly teasing look on her face. "So, you got close with Unohana? Is she my competition?"
Kisuke whistled, and moved off to the side, Zensuke noting the fierce determination in the cat woman's eyes.
"I'd not say that, I care about the both of you very much. Unohana-san's always supported me, even when I became a Captain as young as I was, even when Mayuri-san wasn't the most thrilled about me being a Captain."
Kisuke snorts. "How did that go again?"
Zensuke chuckled, and thought back on his time with Mayuri, their ups and downs, especially when they first met one another.
"He had an argument about it, called me a demonic child, and said that he'd never ever listen to the likes of me, especially because I was…what did he call me…aah right, he said I was the spawn of Urahara, and that he'd never follow an Urahara again for as long as he lived, and he'd rebel against me, I suppose we had a lot of things to wrinkle out in our friendship~ But now we're in a more healthy friendship~"
Kisuke chuckled deep, while Yoruichi could only imagine what Mayuri was like when this was happening.
"Sounds difficult." Yoruichi mused, as her fingers interlock with his own. "I'll be seeing you really soon, okay?"
Zensuke inclines his head. "Definitely, wild horses wont keep me away."
Yoruichi felt a surge come from her heart, as their lips naturally come together in an entanglement of their affection for one another.
It was a kiss that was brimming with their emotions, one that offered comfort, and being more intimate with one another, showcasing his feelings for each other.
Kisuke could see the unshackled feelings they had, and was glad for his son, recalling a time in his life when he felt like that.
While Yoruichi wished she could do more right now, she also understood that Zensuke was no fool.
He was someone that even when backed into a corner, he was capable of achieving his goals, and would do his best to do just that, so she wished to do what she could to take care of him as he fought hard.
Meanwhile, having heard the news, Toshiro and Rangiku rushed to the Head Captains place as fast as they could, to stand up for Zensuke, and to say that this wasn't true, that this situation was all wrong, and that Zensuke wasn't a criminal.
They couldn't find the Head Captain in his office, and instead found his Lieutenant instead.
"Lieutenant Sasakibe, where is Head Captain Yamamoto? We have to speak with him urgently." Toshiro heeds, wanting to swiftly establish what the old man was thinking, and how they could settle things.
"He's heading off to the Human World. If its about the order regarding Captain Zensuke Urahara, then I also couldn't believe my ears, and Head Captain isn't the most thrilled about this either, but he cannot show favoritism now, even for someone he likes."
Toshiro chewed her bottom lip as if she had eaten a bitter bug, feeling annoyed that this has happened to someone she cared for, she felt instantly someone was setting him up, but she didn't know who it was yet.
Rangiku felt the same, she clicked her tongue and wished she could do something, Zensuke was someone she cared for, she hated the very idea of seeing someone trying to set him up, making her wonder who would want to do that to such a sweet Captain, someone who had done a lot to help out Soul Society.
"Captain, we have to do something." Rangiku spoke up. "This is Zensuke-kun we're talking about. As if he'd go around and experiment on people, he isn't Mayuri Kurotsuchi, he's always said its never worth the effort to experiment on innocent beings, as he'd never destroy another's innocent life, and from what I understand, these Shinigami years ago where his friends."
Toshiro nods, folding her arms. "He told me that his father was accused of the crime, and when he vanished, Zensuke-kun was the one who was set up for it, as a scape goat, but there was no evidence, and that was years ago. What could've turned up now?"
Toshiro mulled it over in her head over and over, her heart aching at the very thought of Zensuke being detained.
Yamamoto's Lieutenant could see the passion on both of their faces.
He also while not as close to Zensuke as they were, had interacted with him many times over the years, especially since Yamamoto and Zensuke were close, he knew Yamamoto viewed Zensuke as a grandson, so he could only imagine what his Captain was going through right now, having the orders to detain someone he cared for.
"Captain Hitsugaya, there's still time to catch him. The others going with him haven't fully arrived yet. Though I think it wont be the desired outcome, if you feel strongly about your thoughts on your fellow Captain, then I suggest going to them now." Chojiro, Yamamoto's Lieutenant, spoke up, gaining the little Shinigami's attention.
Toshiro, and Rangiku were told of where he was, and they thanked Chojiro for the information, and took off as quickly as possible.
As they left, Chojiro thought "I hope you're okay, Head Captain Yamamoto, this must be hurting you more than most, since you put yourself out there all those years ago, and challenged the idea of him being the one who caused this situation to happen…" and breathed out slowly.
Toshiro and Rangiku managed to find the Head Captain, waiting together with Aizen, speaking about the current situation.
"Head C-Captain, we received the report, and I request-"
"I know what you're going to request, but this is a mission directly from Central 46, I cannot turn off this mission now. Zensuke Urahara shall come back to the Soul Society, and shall answer for what he's being accused of."
"But Head Captain!" Rangiku spoke up. "Even you must see that this is absurd! He'd never do those crimes!"
Yamamoto's eyes fell upon her, and she felt as if she was frozen on the spot.
His overwhelming presence was enough to snuff out many souls, and she felt as if she could be crushed by his power.
Toshiro wasn't handling it much better, though she managed to fight through it enough to keep herself as steady as possible.
"Head Captain, can we…go on the mission too? I want to see this through as well. I know Zensuke-kun very well…I'll be able to help this situation, please."
Toshiro knew saying something like she'd help detain Zensuke would easily be seen as a lie.
She couldn't deny the feelings she felt, neither could Rangiku.
Yamamoto wasn't a heartless man, he was able to understand their feelings.
"Very well, however do not impede the detainment." Yamamoto laid down the law.
Toshiro, and Rangiku nod their heads, hoping that at least if they were there, then Zensuke would be able to explain his own thoughts, and though they knew a fight with the Head Captain would be futile, they both believed in Zensuke, and would defend him, no matter what...
A little time later, Zensuke stayed with the Captains and Lieutenants he had beaten, waiting for the Captains to come, managing to use his expertise to give himself the upper hand against the situation Aizen was doing right now.
By the time the 'help' arrived, in the form of Unohana, and Yamamoto, along with Soi Fon, Toshiro, Kyoraku, Byakuya, and Aizen, Zensuke felt himself ready to deal with this situation, but couldn't deny he also wondered how far the accusations would go, though he did have some ideas at the same time.
Zensuke looked at Aizen, who was trying to gauge a few things about him.
"Gramps, everyone. Everything's under control sir. All Hollows exterminated, bridge between our worlds has been severed. Though I'm surprised to see so many Captains have come, talk about overkill."
Zensuke knew the real reason, and that was Yamamoto deemed Zensuke such a threat that he had other Captains come with him as support should he try and fight, or run, and with how powerful Yamamoto was, Zensuke also knowing in pure destructive power the Head Captain even was above Aizen, so he thought it was quite an honour for Head Captain to subtly suggest others could be needed.
"Yes. However, disturbing news has arrived, and I need an immediate explanation along with you coming with us."
Zensuke raised a brow. "I'm sorry? I'm not sure what's going on. An explanation, for the Hollows? Because I've found the reason why that was happening. The other Captains suddenly started attacking me, saying I was possessed for reasons I wouldn't be fully aware of if that's what you're referring too."
Aizen furrows his eyebrows ever so slightly, while Yamamoto raises a brow. "Is that so?"
"Yes, sir, I've got all the data having been sent back to my lab, but on a quick word, basically someone had purposely tore a hole between the Hollows, and the Human Worlds, and they came here, like lambs to a slaughter, lured here with someone intentionally flaring fake Reiatsu to have them come like flies to lights, drawn impeccably without thought or reason." His eyes shift to Aizen. "I also recorded what happened with the Shinigami when they came for me, I'll let you view everything."
Aizen's face dipped ever so slightly.
Yamamoto stroked his chin in thought, wondering what or who had done it.
He didn't believe it was Zensuke, he knew Zensuke by now, and believed in him.
Even then, Yamamoto had a duty to uphold, even if it was a difficult thing to do.
"Very well, I shall review the evidence when we return. Until then, Zensuke Urahara, you have crimes to answer for. Cooperate, and I am sure this shall be settled soon enough."
Aizen had underestimated the bond between Yamamoto and Zensuke.
He thought Yamamoto of all people would fulfil his duty without question, and wouldn't show any emotion.
But he could see that the old man had some hesitation in his eyes, even if his body language suggested otherwise, and thought it was a worrying situation he was in, finding Zensuke such a worthy opponent.
Toshiro blinked back pain as Zensuke offered a kind smile. "So, what is it I'm being accused of exactly?"
"They've found evidence you've met with the Shinigami with Hollow powers, and, and where involved with the incident that turned them into Hollow Shinigami." Soi Fon whispered, her eyes tightening on him. "You wouldn't be like your father, would you? I've known you for so long, tell me this is a lie!"
Soi Fon showed her passions, and for someone who usually kept her emotions back, Zensuke knew she truly was going through a difficult time right now.
"Of course it is. You know I'd never experiment on people like that, that's way more Mayuri-sans territory than mine which I frequently stop him doing. I am a scientist that wishes to benefit the world and all those innocent, not use those innocents that have placed trust in me for my own goals. Its why I chose the path of a scientist, to better lives, not take them." Zensuke responds truthfully, while Unohana looks at the bodies of the downed enemies.
She checked on them, and felt 'Zensuke's' Reiatsu coming from Iba who had been cut, when in reality it was Aizen who had managed to use his skills in making sure Zensuke would be caught.
Zensuke himself watched as Unohana examined him further, and when she pulled back, she saw a single message lightly appear on Iba's wound, the blood spelling out "Do a full body scan of them later." which confused her initially as it vanished just as quickly as it appeared and she couldn't sense it again, but when she looked at Zensuke who glanced at her from the corner of his eye, she further examined the bodies quickly, while Aizen kept his eyes on Zensuke.
"Zensuke-kun's Reiatsu is within Lieutenant Iba's wound. And the others also have some of Zensuke-kun's Reiatsu. However…" Aizen looks confused, turning to Unohana. "Something about the curvature of the cuts within the wound, don't add up to the blade Zensuke-kun has, since we've practised before, I know there's a difference here that I need to examine further."
Aizen thought he had gotten it down for sure, he thought perhaps she was simply trying to cover up for him, but he never thought he'd be wrong when he was framing Zensuke like this.
Zensuke himself stayed silent, his eyes keenly on Aizen, seeing him twitch his finger ever so slightly.
Yamamoto raises his head with a heavy heart. "Until you're complete with your examination, Zensuke Urahara, you are under arrest for the potential experimentation on the Shinigami given Hollow powers, and the attack on your fellow Shinigami. All evidence you've collected, I shall be reviewing personally, until then, I have no choice but to detain you."
Toshiro shakes her head, and spoke in protest. "This is wrong Head Captain. I know Zensuke-kun, he would never do this. He's the gentlest Captain, and if he did do this to them, then it was because they attacked first like he said, I'm sure the evidence shall speak for itself. We don't have to arrest him for this!"
Hearing Toshiro's confidence in him, it made Zensuke feel warm inside.
However, Yamamoto fired a disarming look at the frosty Captain.
"Captain Hisugaya, you shall remain silent. Do you not recall my words from before? You pushed to come onto this mission, but if you say another word, then I'll have you detained as well."
Toshiro breathed in hard through her nose. "But-"
"Shiro-chan, its okay." Zensuke comforted, Toshiro looking at him with a disheartened expression. "I know you're worried for me, but thank you for believing in me." He approached the young girl, and gently smiled down at her. "The truth will come out, it always does, even when people try to hide it."
Aizen narrowed his eyebrows, ever so slightly.
"Why is this happening? Why would anyone want to frame you?" Toshiro asks, trying to get to the bottom of it.
Zensuke glanced out of the corner of his eye, directly at Aizen.
It was so subtle only Aizen really noticed, and the young Shinigami narrowed his gaze ever so slightly.
"Truthfully, there's a few reasons I can think of." Aizen felt his chest tightening, wondering what Zensuke was going to say, and if he should get his Zanpakuto ready to stop this. "There's others in the Shinigami world that would profit from me not being around, and would believe they're able to gain advantages of me being detained-"
"I think its best if you keep quiet." Aizen spoke up. "For your sake, Zensuke-kun. As your friend, I want you to be found not guilty, but throwing baseless accusations around wouldn't help you in this situation."
"Baseless huh?" Zensuke challenged. "Ooh, I have facts for my accusations, Sosuke-san. They're never baseless."
That made Aizen's stomach drop, seeing the challenging grin on Zensuke's face.
Zensuke...had evidence against him?
Could he trust that?
Was it a lie to rattle him?
Knowing Zensuke for as long as he had, Aizen believed that genuinely could be true.
Zensuke inhaled sharply through his nose. "Head Captain, I shall cooperate. Though before you arrest me, I want to make sure my Squad is in the best of hands, and make sure, certain members that shall remain nameless, though that rhymes with Taikuri-" Rangiku snorts, knowing he was referring to Mayuri. "-doesn't do anything they shouldn't do, among other things. You can monitor me if you like, I just don't want to leave my Squad in the lurch while I'm being detained. Please allow me to do this, and I'll follow anything that needs to be done without complaint."
Yamamoto raised his head, and then simply nods a single time. "Very well, I'll agree to these terms."
Yamamoto hated to feel this.
He was someone about the law, now he was seeing someone he knew deep in his heart wouldn't do this, yet it was his duty to do what was needed, he was the leader, he had to set the example.
"Thank you." Zensuke glanced at Aizen, who in turn looked right at him. "No need to keep your hand on your sword, Sosuke-san. I'm a good Captain, I'll cooperate~"
Aizen's eyebrow twitched, as Zensuke looked Aizen right in the eye, giving a challenging stare, ready to throw down in a game of mental wits with him.
Zensuke knew with Kyoka Suigetsu, Aizen could make the others hear, see, fell, and smell whatever he wanted, which is why he didn't even try to out him.
But that only made Aizen more cautious, as with Zensuke knowing that, and how intelligent he was, he knew Zensuke had some plans for him and his blade, so he had to make sure he did his own before Zensuke could succeed...
Meanwhile, within Orihime's place, the entire area was now filled to the brim with new people she hadn't met before. The Visored made themselves at home pretty quickly, though when they saw Nel, both Kensei and Rose showed distrust in their eyes, even if Nel didn't seem to mind that at all.
The Quincy also arrive, and immediately, their eyes shift to the Visored.
They had been made aware of one another's existence, and now seeing one another face to face, it was a strange feeling.
"So, they're the Hollow Shinigami huh." Bambietta mused, looking them up and down.
Shinji grins. "Well, it looks like Zensuke-kun has some pretty friends-"
"You're not my type, lets not even go there~" Bambietta snickered.
Hiyori burst out laughing. "Sorry Shinji, the girls got taste~ I like her already~"
Shinji's eyes snap up to Hiyori. "And what does that mean?"
"You know what it means baldy! She ain't interested in your weird ass!" Hiyori growled as the blonde Shinigami pulls back.
Meninas shifts her hand up to gain their attention. "He isn't bald though."
Hiyori sweat dropped. "I, I didn't mean him being actually bald..."
Shinji sweat dropped, Orihime looking between them, and couldn't believe so many people she didn't know where around, and yet, she thought they were rather interesting, she couldn't help but notice Hacchi was looking at her hairpins.
"Is everything okay?" Orihime asks kindly.
Hacchi chuckled. "Ooh yes, I'm sorry for staring. Its just your hairpins are giving off some power."
"Ooh, its my Fullbring~" Orihime announced joyfully.
Hacchi looked a little lost. "A Fullbring? I'm sorry, I'm not overly familiar with the term."
"Erm, Zen-chan knows more about it than me, but basically its my powers~" Said the energetic girl, swaying her burnt orange hair in the wind.
"Fascinating~ And I just tried some of your food, its delightful~"
Orihime grins, and began speaking with Hacchi for a little while, the two beginning to become friends.
Lisa on the other hand began bringing out her magazine, and inconspicuously began reading it quietly.
Nel who happened to be close by, glanced at the contents of the magazine, and let out a shocked cry.
"W-WHY ARE THOSE BOYS AND GIRLS DOING SUCH THINGS OUT IN THE OPEN!?"
Lisa grimaced, while Kensei snorts. "Reading one of your, fun time magazines again, Lisa?"
"You don't understand the complex literature that I'm reading, Kensei." Lisa huffs, watching the others whistling and turning away from her.
The atmosphere remained tense, though was easing as the Visored, Arrancar, and Quincy mingled with one another.
Giselle felt as if she was in paradise, so many people, she hoped she'd be able to at least convince one or two of them to become her friends, and maybe even become her Zombies, though she didn't know if that would be possible.
"Hello, my names Giselle~" The girl greets Hacchi.
Hacchi gave his approving smile. "Hello, my name is Hachigen, but people call me Hacchi."
Giselle flashed a big bright smile, glad to see that Hacchi was speaking with her.
"I'm glad to meet such a jolly person! Do you wanna be friends?"
Hacchi shows his effervescent smile. "Of course, that would be very nice, Giselle-san. Are you a Quincy?"
"That I am, I'm a Quincy, that has a special power~"
Hacchi was even more intrigued. "Really now?"
Giselle nods, holding out her hand, a bright smile growing on her face. "I could show you, friend~"
Hacchi's smile grows, as Liltotto sweat drops, and cuts in. "No, Gigi. Don't make him a zombie."
Hacchi puts a hand to his mouth, a worry flashing in his eyes. "A, A zombie?"
Liltotto sighs openly. "Yes, I'm sorry she has that habit sometimes. She means well enough, but when it comes to the zombie stuff, she does become a little hyper about it, so please forgive her if she says anything strange."
Hiyori fired a questioning look, seeing Giselle trying to get close Hacchi.
Sighing, Hiyori turned away, nibbling on her bottom lip as she wondered how it was going with Zensuke right now, knowing he was taking a fall for them, putting himself in the firing line to protect them.
Shinji felt it too, wondering what evil schemes Aizen was up to right now.
"Nice house." Hiyori muses, glancing at Orihime.
"Ooh thank you~ Its the house Zen-chan and I live in~" Orihime replies happily.
Hiyori raises an eyebrow. "Eeeh? You and Zensuke are together are you?"
Orihime blushes up a storm on her face. "W-Well, Zen-chan means a lot to me, and I hope he feels the same, and we get along really well, d-do you and Zen-chan have a close friendship with one another?"
"You could say that, we've worked together in the past, he's gotten taller from back in the day."
Orihime cocks her head curiously, wishing to know more.
As the group settles more into a calm dynamic, Bambietta couldn't really believe her eyes.
Seeing all Arrancar, Visored, Fullbringer, and Quincy's all working together, and just enjoying one another's company.
Liltotto noticed it, and pulls closer. "What is it?"
"A few hours ago, I went with the intention of killing Rukia Kuchiki, and now…now it feels as if I'm being brought into a hub of all different people that should be enemies, yet they're all getting along."
Liltotto nods her head, as Candice who was listening in, came closer.
"Maybe its time to stop thinking about His Majesty, Bambi." Candice mused. "Look, I get he's our leader, and I do respect him, but he also put us in a difficult position, and yet, you rose to the challenge to try and save us. Might've been the wrong way, but you did, for our sake, even if it went against what's in your heart."
Bambietta's lips quiver at her friends words.
Liltotto inclines, and carries on. "She's right. You're our friend. Look around, these people aren't usually people who would be in the same room, there's some Arrancar woman over there quite literally laughing together with Meninas, when did things like that happen? It doesn't, but here, it does, I thought it was impossible, but I'm glad to see that it is happening."
Bambietta looked at Meninas, and saw her having a good time with Nel.
Seeing Giselle also having a laugh together with the likes of Hiyori and Mashiro.
Seeing Hacchi, and Orihime speaking happily together.
It was something she thought she'd never be able to believe she was like this.
"You're right, it seems that they are. I really messed up, what are we going to do about this Lil?"
Liltotto breathed in swiftly. "We're going to work together with Zensuke Urahara, and for now, we should stay here while he's got his own situation to deal with, so we don't add any issues. This place is good, and that Inoue girl is able to cook very well."
Candice sweat dropped. "That's our Lil."
Liltotto raises a brow as Bambietta begins to giggle.
She looked content, knowing she'd be able to have a good time with her friends.
But Bambietta also knew she'd have to make amends, and she was going to do her best to make her misdeeds right, no matter what.
Back with Zensuke and the others, he was beginning to get handcuffed, something everyone felt uncomfortable about doing, Yamamoto felt uneasy about doing this, knowing he wouldn't do what's been shown to him.
Both Toshiro, and Rangiku wished they could do something for him, wishing they could make this go away.
"So, I get put in a cell, and brought before Central 46 like last time?" Zensuke asks Yamamoto.
"I'm not sure this time, this time its different. Either way, its time go."
"Yes, I understand." Zensuke responds swiftly.
As they were ready to depart for the Soul Society, Zensuke sensed Rukia fast approaching them.
Byakuya who had been silent until now turns his eyes towards the incoming Rukia, Zensuke in turn silently glanced at him, sharing a look between them, Byakuya was glad that Zensuke had kept his word in protecting Rukia during all of this time.
"No!" Rukia suddenly burst across the road, Zensuke looking back at her with some surprise. "Head Captain! Please! I also received word from Soul Society and, I, I just can't believe this would be the Captain Zensuke I know!"
Zensuke thought it would make sense for her to receive information about it as well.
"Rukia." Byakuya chides. "Do not speak up, or you could be held as a co-conspirator."
Rukia tightened her hand, and shakes her head. "Brother, I know Captain Zensuke wouldn't do what they've suggested. He's the most kind hearted Shinigami, and I can't just stand by and let him begin getting blamed for things he hasn't done! I know the crimes are serious…but this is your friend too. Look what he's done for you, for Hisana-sama, for Kaien, for me…are those the actions of an evil man?"
Byakuya kept silent, his face not giving anything away whatsoever.
Zensuke clearly heard the passion in her voice.
Toshiro and Kyoraku both turn their necks away from the situation, feeling as if Rukia was entirely right, that Zensuke wouldn't do anything of the sort, and hated being there, even reluctantly when they were asked.
Soi Fon thought Zensuke wouldn't do this, but with the evidence, it only confused her.
Rangiku agreed with Rukia over and over, wishing she could do more.
Unohana mentally praised both Toshiro and Rukia for speaking their minds, especially in front of Yamamoto who wasn't known for his patience.
Yamamoto exhales deeply. "Rukia Kuchiki, one more word-"
"She wont say another thing." Zensuke replies, in defence of Rukia. "She's done nothing but fulfil her duties as an exemplary Shinigami, especially on this day. She's dealt with such a high stress situation with elegance, and grace." Zensuke looks to Rukia, who in turn looks back at him with a teary gaze. "Hey, Rukia-chan, its okay. I'll be alright, this isn't the first time I've been accused, I got out of it before, and I'll get out of it again. Until then, just do your duties in Karakura, answer anything Soul Society asks of you, and try not to worry. Tell your truth."
Byakuya thought that was good advice, and could see, even when his life was on the line, he was protecting Rukia, and not wanting to drag her into this mess, something he mentally thanked Zensuke for, as he didn't want to have to turn on Rukia as well as his friend, it was causing Byakuya quite the turmoil already.
Rukia bites her lower lip, as Zensuke moves to the Shinigami.
Yamamoto puts restraints on Zensuke, and they opened the portal to return to Soul Society.
Rukia watched with a heavy heart as Zensuke began walking through the portal.
In turn, Zensuke looked back towards her, and offered his smile, as a relief team came and grabbed Tosen, Komamura, Iba and Hisagi.
"The truth will come out, I promise. Stay safe. And thank you, for your belief in me."
Rukia sniffled, running a hand under her eye, as she wordlessly watched him being taken away.
Vanishing into the portal, all Shinigami left, including Byakuya who in turn looked back at Rukia, seeing the pain in her eyes, and closed his own.
Arriving in Soul Society, Zensuke came to Squad 12 so he could make some announcements before he was going to be put into his prison for the time being, and Mayuri saw his condition.
"Are the Soul Society a bunch of fools? You experimenting on people to make Hollowfied Shinigami? Yeah right, you stop me from experimenting on people, so whoever believes that is completely insane. Whoever thought of this hair-brained idea must truly not understand you. Though, I guess this means I'm in charge now doesn't it? Huh, how about that…"
Mayuri would've laughed if he didn't find it so ridiculous, while Zensuke adopts a coy smile on his face.
"Thank you for the faith, Mayuri-san, and don't worry, I'll make sure you're very supported during my time away, especially when it comes to your experiments."
Mayuri's eyebrows twitch. "Captain…!"
"Its okay, Mayuri-san. I know how much it means to you~" Zensuke said with his cheery smile, disarming his Lieutenant.
Mayuri scowled, and turned his head away from Zensuke.
Though Mayuri, who was a very smart man, wondered who it was that was trying to frame Zensuke.
Nemu looked at her Captain, confusion on her face.
"Captain, I believe the information that Central 46 is putting up, is falsehoods. I have seen the kindness for souls you possess, and doing these experiments, would be something you'd not do."
Zensuke offered a small smile.
"Thank you. I know its confusing right now, so keep the Squad safe for me, Nemu-san. I know I can rely on you, you're like my right hand, and of course, work with Mayuri-san, and Akon-san. I'll detail something's that'll keep the Squad going while I'm away, what paperwork needs to be done, and so on and so forth."
Nemu dutifully nods her head. "Yes, I shall do my best in fulfilling all of these tasks for you, Captain."
Zensuke leans closer, and adopts a kind face. "Thank you, Nemu-san. And I can't wait to see what you're doing with your experiment. When this is resolved, I hope you'll let me see the fruits of your efforts. And even if Mayuri-san denies it, he's also invested and wishes to see what you've been doing."
When Nemu looked at her father, he just stared back at her, not confirming or denying what it was that Zensuke was saying to be true.
Zensuke then saw Yamamoto calling him over, so the boy sighed, and swiftly began working on getting everything ready.
When he was finished, Zensuke went to leave, when Nemu came over to her Captain, and her hand pressed up against his chest, drawing his full attention, and the next moment, she allowed her lips to press against his cheek.
"Nemu-san…" Zensuke murmured, watching as Nemu pulling back, and looked as if she was blushing a little.
She didn't say anything, she didn't even show a shy face or anything equivalent.
But, her eyes displayed how she was feeling right now, the affection she held for her Captain.
"Captain, I shall visit you soon. Is there anything I can bring you?"
"Erm, how about crispy chicken? Because I remember the food in the holding cells from last time, and it wasn't the best~"
Toshiro and Rangiku stifle small laughs, while Soi Fon watched on curiously.
Aizen spoke no words, forever ready to use his Zanpakuto if he had too.
"Yes Captain." Nemu said dutifully.
Zensuke was then brought away together with the other Captains.
Nemu replied "Captain...", as Mayuri watched on, narrowing his eyebrows ever so slightly, his eyes moving to Aizen as he vanished…
Back in the Human World, once they were all gone, Rukia was left on the side of the road all alone, collapsing to her knees, and let out heavy breaths, putting a hand over her heart.
"Captain…this isn't right, this can't be happening…there's someone against you, isn't there Captain? Tell my truth…you said that, my truth is that you've done nothing of these crimes, and actively protected the town together with me…that's my truth."
She couldn't believe what was going on.
Her eyes fell to the floor.
Feeling began to shoot through her system, she couldn't comprehend why this was happening.
To someone she considered a friend…no, someone more than that.
Someone who had supported her for a long time, someone who had been there for her when she was all alone.
Now, he was being detained, and she didn't know what was going to happen next with him.
"Captain, Zensuke…" No sooner as she said it, Zensuke himself appeared before her, causing her to jump out of her skin. "Aaaaaah! W-What...I. I just saw you...! H, How are you here Captain!?"
Zensuke waved his hand to calm the young girl. "Sorry to scare you. What they've got, is merely my Gigai. I'm all here, and footloose and fancy free, as the saying goes~ Had to hide, in case they noticed me, sorry about that. Though, thanks to them falling for my Gigai, I am in constant contact with that Gigai, and can make any necessary changes until the times right."
Rukia breathed a sigh of relief.
"Captain, I, I don't understand. Why are they detaining you? I read the message I got, and it doesn't make much sense to me. Saying you tried to Hollowfy people, and that you're the one who attacked your fellow Captain with the intention to kill. I knew it was a lie, but what could someone hope to achieve from all of this?"
Zensuke chuckled awkwardly. "Long story, I'll tell you in a bit, first its time get out of here. Not that I think anyone else would come, but on the safe side, don't want you to get brought into anything worrying."
Rukia nods in agreement, wishing for an explanation. "Yes Captain. Though, can I ask…what's going to happen now?"
Zensuke felt the care she had for him, even standing up to Yamamoto, he knew that took guts that Toshiro, Rangiku and Rukia showed they had in spades.
"Truthfully, I've got ideas on how it might go, and its going to take hard work to pull everything off I want to be pulled off, but I'll do what I need to do to win, and protect everyone. The Soul Society is about to change, Rukia-chan, and they don't know it yet, its why I've gotta do what I can, as our enemy is someone who can control the senses, they can literally make you see, hear, touch, and smell anything he wants, but he is not infallible, and will soon see for himself what errors he's made."
Rukia could see the compassion in his eyes.
He truly was doing his best for those around him.
Making sure that people like her would be safe and sound.
But that only drove her own convictions to higher levels, wanting to support the Captain she admired.
"Then please let me help Captain. You've been supporting me since I was in the Academy, let me be there for you now. I understand that I am not as strong as a Captain, I might not be able to do as much as others. But, I wish to do all I can for the person who supported me, and comforted me when I was unsure of myself."
Zensuke felt his heart thudding in his chest.
Seeing the dedication Rukia had inside, he knew she truly was someone that would do whatever it took for her friends, and that very much included Zensuke.
Inhaling, Zensuke's smile shined on his face. "Lets get out of here, and we can talk about what to do next."
Rukia exhales strongly, bowing her head. "Yes, Captain!"
She believed in him.
All of the times she had worries or doubts, she remembered how she could come to him, and he'd help her.
This time, she wanted to do the same thing.
She didn't care what it was, she was going to do her best for him.
Rukia was glad that he was there, she remembered she was dealing with a guy that dealt with the likes of Mayuri on a regular basis, so she decided to trust in him now…
As that was going on, Toshiro and Rangiku returned to their barracks, and discussed what's going on.
"Captain, what do you thinks going to happen now?" Rangiku sought answers.
Toshiro hummed in thought. "I don't know, but Zensuke-kun didn't resist, which means he has reasons to be in Soul Society, we just have to figure out what those are...and what he said, about people profiting from him being detained. Zensuke-kun might've not been able to come out right with what he needed to at that time, which means the person could've been there under our noses, waiting to strike. Either who went with us, or who was able to sneak and watch from the shadows, and knowing if he did spill the secret, then we could've been killed."
Rangiku gives a difficult expression. "You mean, a traitor amongst the Captains? But who?"
Toshiro shrugged. "I don't know yet, but I'm trusting in Zensuke-kun. We need to find a way to communicate with him, if we went there, whoever is doing this might know...we have to think of getting a message to him, and I might have an idea on how..."
Rangiku adopts a small smile. "You really have faith in Zensuke-kun, don't you?"
"If I didn't, I'd not be suggesting that we go against Soul Society. Though, I wont ask that of you-"
"Never mind that Captain, we've got our cute Zensuke-kun to free~!"
Toshiro adopts a small notable smile. "Then lets do what we can, and help Zensuke-kun out of this mess. If someone amongst us is a traitor, we've gotta find out quickly, and I know Zensuke-kun very well, he'll already have a plan, we need to help him achieve it."
"Yes, Captain!" Rangiku followed her Captain.
Both knew it wouldn't be easy, but both would support Zensuke, no matter what.
Meanwhile, Gigai Zensuke was being held in a tower that was being guarded by Captains, Zensuke thought it made sense that other Captains would be guarding him, though by the time he was left on his own, he could see outside of his cell, was Kyoraku, and Aizen.
Zensuke knew he couldn't say much with Aizen around, now more than ever Aizen wouldn't let him talk about what Aizen was truly doing.
"You've been quiet, Kyoraku-san." Zensuke spoke up, making conversation.
Kyoraku from outside of the tower, peered in through the barred window, and chuckles.
"I was going to speak up before, but then some girls did it better than I could. But it seems that you've gotten into a difficult situation right now."
"Seems so. It happened all that time ago, it seems who tried to set me up back then, is doing so again this time."
Aizen glanced into the cell, Zensuke's small smile growing on his face.
"Who do you think it is?" Kyoraku asks, not aware Aizen was the one who was doing this.
Aizen was ready to use Kyoka Suigetsu to make sure Zensuke wouldn't be heard of using his name, something he's had to do many times before in the past.
Zensuke hums in thought. "Well, whoever it is, I'm sure right now they think that they've won, and they're going to succeed in their plans. But, even though I'm in this tower right now, don't assume there's nothing I can do. In fact, its quite the opposite."
Aizen crinkled his brow, while Zensuke kept his blue eyes on him.
"Is that how you feel?" Aizen asks.
Zensuke was glad he asked that, it showed Zensuke that Aizen was genuinely concerned by his words.
"Ooh yes, Sosuke-san. Its how I feel. Words can be just as dangerous as a sword can be. Even if they think they've won, I'm sure time will show all those who are lying. Those that are telling the truth. You know the saying, a caged animal becomes very dangerous? I guess you can apply that to me too."
Aizen felt his breath dying in his throat.
He didn't know if Zensuke was a good actor, but right now he didn't even look concerned.
If anything, he looked as if he was completely in control, and that did worry Aizen more than he thought it would.
Along with that, the intimidation factor alone was enough for Aizen to sweat more than he thought he would.
Kyoraku, somewhat curious about their conversation, raises a brow. "I'm sure you'll be out of there in no time Zensuke-kun, then you can marry Nanao-chan~"
"I'm sure she'd have some words about that~" Zensuke chuckled.
"She will, she'll be happy about it~" Kyoraku said joyfully.
Aizen couldn't concentrate on their conversation, as he truly wondered if this was the right ploy.
He knew now he'd have to have someone he trusted on Zensuke at all times if he couldn't be there.
He couldn't be outed to the Seireitei, not until he was ready, but now he had to make sure Zensuke didn't out him, no matter what as if he did, they'd free Zensuke, and even Aizen didn't know how their fight would end up...

So this chapter has a few things going on, with Zensuke meeting with the Captains, and setting up his plans, including the likes of Unohana, and others. Toshiro, Rangiku, Soi Fon among others showed their care, and their disbelief, even Mayuri seems unconvinced, with Nemu resolved to help the Captain that gave her freedom. The Quincy, and Visored met one another, and had some fun interactions, Nel found out about Lisa's curious magazines~
And at the end, Toshiro and Rangiku are fully committed to helping out Zensuke, while Gigai Zensuke bound for the time being, Aizen believes he's won albeit needing to keep his trusted comrades on him should Zensuke try and spill any secrets, but Aizen doesn't know yet real Zensuke is out in the world, so we'll see what his plans for Aizen are very soon~
