Nightmare Critters Introduction(A Smiling Critters Episode, Season 2 EP #16)
A VHS Tape was heard being inserted into a VHS Player in the darkness. A TV turns to show a screen with the words Play, 0:00:16, and SLP. After it went static, it switched to the Playtime Co. Slogan.
"What's the time?" a woman said.
"Playtime!" said some children.
It goes static again, so Smiling Critters Intro could play. However, as it plays, particular shadows are seen in the background of each Smiling Critter.
Smiling Critters: S-M-I-L-E, everyday![As Hoppy Hopscotch plays soccer, an alligator shadow is behind her sleeping. When PickPiggu appeared to eat a burger, a shark shadow tried to grab it from behind her, but a wave pushed them both down.]
KickinChicken: When you are down and out... [As KickinChicken surfs the wave, a frog shadow tries to keep up with him from behind but shakes its fist as they fall overboard from their surfboard.]
Bobby BearHug: No need to frown and pout! [Bobby BearHug appeared with hearts around, but a bird shadow had its wings crossed with a lighting cloud background behind Bobby's back.]
Bubba Bubbaphant and CraftyCorn: 'Cuz Smiling Critters' here to say [When CraftyCorn and Bubba Bubbaphant appeared to look at the canvas, a dragon shadow was putting their arm around Crafty and holding a rose. As a rat shadow was behind Bubba while in a garbage can.]
Smiling Critters: S-M-I-L-E, everyday! [Once Bubba pulled the drawing to form a moon, a bat shadow followed it as they circled CatNap. When DogDay was about to pull down CatNap's tail, a sheep shadow walked over to the tail from the opposite direction. They tripped so both themselves and DogDay could pull down the tail together. With the title shown, the eight shadows were upside down beneath it.]
But then a glitch occurred, showing the episode barely titled "Nightmare Critters."
The scene changed to a strangely deserted city with the sun setting in the background. The Smiling Critters are shown walking down the street.
"Woo, what a Critterific Day, Critters," DogDay says happily, holding CatNap's hand.
"Yeah. We skated, we played ball, we crafted, and we ate. I never had this much fun in one day," said KickinChicken.
"I put so much energy into this day. I'm ready to rest," said Hoppy.
"I'm happy to wear the origami crown I made," said CraftyCorn, who has a paper yellow crown on her unicorn.
"We better hurry and get back home. I don't want to miss dinner," said PickyPiggy.
"CatNap, you'll ensure we get to bed on time, right?" Bobby asks.
CatNap nods before DogDay hugs him and says, "Hehehe. If only you could talk, buddy. It's a good thing you can do sign language; thankfully, we can understand it."
Bubba then said, "Well, Smiling Friends. We had better head home as quickly as we could. It won't be long until it gets-"
Suddenly, the sunset sky went dark, as if night had fallen upon the area, and the sound of something falling filled the air.
In response, the Smiling Critters looked around in shock while Bubba said, "Dark?"
"That's unusual—a sudden quick weather change. Is it daylight saving time?" DogDay looked at his watch.
Bubba took out a calendar of October 1990 and said, "Not according to my calendar."
"Why do you have a calendar with you? Kicken asks.
"How wouldn't you keep track of every day?"
"Right? But let's race home. I don't want a sudden wind howl," said Hoppy.
As the Smiling Critters walk, eight shadows look at them far behind a building. Their white glowing eyes show they are watching them with naughty intentions.
"So, they're the Smiling Critters, huh?" said a sheepish voice.
"Quite a colorful bunch if you ask me," said a ratty voice.
"Hehehehe...They look like they got some juicy secrets in their mitts," said a batty voice.
"They look tasty to eat, especially the piggy," said a shaky voice.
"Wanna have fun with them, guys?" an amphibian voice.
"Oh, yes. Especially that unicorn princess. She's pretty delicate to win over to my magnetic charm," said a dragon voice.
After an alligator voice yawned, they said, "Let's make it quick. I want to nap."
"Good thing the sun isn't out. I'm ready to cause trouble," said a bird voice.
The shadows laughed evilly before following the Smiling Critters.
The Smiling Critters began to feel self-aware as the street lights came on.
"Sure is quiet this evening," Bobby commented.
"Maybe everyone went to bed already," PickyPiggy suggested.
As the shadows from behind walked toward the Smiling Critters, CraftyCorn said, "Does anyone feel we're being followed?"
The shadows came up from behind the Smiling Critters and were pushed down to the ground as they walked past them.
"Ouch! That hurt!" Bobby yelled in pain.
The Smiling Critters looked up to see the shadows walking ahead of them. CatNap hissed at the shadows for pushing him down and his friends while on all fours.
"Woah, easy there, CatNap. Maybe they didn't see us, and that's why we were pushed down," DogDay held CatNap's arm as the Smiling Critters got back on their feet.
"No, DogDay. I felt a hand push me down. They did it on purpose," said Hoppy.
"Hey, what's the big idea pushing us?!" Kickin yelled at the shadows.
The shadows stop underneath a street light, revealing themselves as a black sheep, a yellow-black frog, a white-pink bat, a green alligator, a red dragon, a blackbird-crow-raven? a rat, and a blue shark. Their backs are still shown toward the Smiling Critters.
"Excuse us, we are talking to you. Who do you think you are?" DogDay said.
But when the music starts to play, the unknown Critters turn their heads to show their shadowed faces with grins, and the black sheep say, "Hahahahaha...Oh, would you like to know?"
The street light flickers for the unknown Critters to disappear, confusing the Smiling Critters to look around for the mysterious new Critters. The black sheep suddenly pounced on DogDay and got on top of him.
Baba Chops: They say I'm a black sheep. They say I'm persistent [She goes up to his face to reveal her stark-white face. She stood back up as the Smiling Critters were in shock from what she did.]
That I prefer to be lonely, so keep your distance [She then walks away from the Smiling Critters to lean on her name, "Baba Chops," before pointing to a direction angle of KickinChicken and DogDay gets back on his feet.]
Icky Licky: Your worst Nightmare to make you groan [The Smiling Critters looked up to see the yellow frog on the roof of the building and showing his face. He then crawled down the wall like a spider.]
I'll take that trophy back to my zone [Once he got on the ground, he shot out his tongue to pull his name, "Icky Licky," onto the scene.]
Rabie Baby: So I've got a love for drama in my blood [The white bat swooped down in the middle of the Smiling Critters. She reveals her face while walking in between.]
You got a secret? Then I will tell [She goes behind CatNap to hold a sign, "CatNap can talk but doesn't want to." It embarrassed him before she flew up to go to her name, "Rabie Baby."]
Allister Gator: They think I'm lazy, a stick in the mud [Hoppy looked down and saw Allister on his back and between her legs. She yelped and hopped away from him while he stood up.]
The times are changing. [He stands up for his name, "Allister Gator," to emerge from the ground underneath his feet.]
Icky and Allister: It's time for these Critters to dwell (Icky: Ha-ha-ha-ha) [Icky hopped toward him so they can high-five, fist-pump, elbow bump, and finger gun each other.]
Baba and Rabie: Mirror, mirror on the wall [The Smiling Critters noticed Baba and Rabie are looking at themselves at the mirror-reflecting window of a building.]
Who's the best Critters of them all? [Then, the rest of their friends join them to pose in style while a glimpse of the Smiling Critters in the background.]
Welcome to my nightmare world, nightmare world [Much to the surprise of the Smiling Critters, the Nightmare Critters do a triple backflip, then twist in the air, and end it with a landing stack with Icky and Allister at the bottom, Rabie, the dragon, and the bird at the second bottom, the rat and the shark at the second top and Baba at the top.]
Nightmare Critters: We're wild to the core, core [When they unstack, the building lights start to go colorful and go on and off to the beat of the song.]
Wild to the core [Rabie, the dragon, and the bird flew up as the other started to spread out to dance.]
We're wild to the core, core [The ground Critters do the Cabbage Patch while the sky Critters do the Butterfly.]
Who could ask for more? [The Smiling Critter jaw-dropped for seeing the new Critters able to do great dancing.]
We're nothing like the Smiling Freaks, who grin up to their cheeks [But they stopped when the Critters pointed at them. The Smiling Critters looked offended to say, "Smiling Freaks?!"]
We're wild to the core, We're wild to the [The new Critters then come together to headspin; Baba is in the middle while her friends circle her.]
We're wild to the core [The new Critters continue to headspin while circling the Smiling Critters, who were startled. The new Critters then backflip away from the Smiling Critters and disappear into the darkness.]
Poe: Listen up now! [The bird goes up to DogDay to yell at his face.]
The break of sunlight, it ain't my style. [But when they realized the Sun Pendant on DogDay, they backed away while covering their face with their wings in disgust.]
The pitch-black darkness is what makes me smile. [In the darkness, they push their name, "Poe," out of it while grinning and giving Bobby the stink eye.]
Touille: You got some garbage? Then I will take (Rabie: Ha-ha-ha-ha) [Bubba started to sniff around and gasped when he saw the rat going through his pockets; Rabie giggled at it.]
Trash talk and cuisine are what I make [The rat then takes out a garbage can to pour out his name, "Touille."]
Maggie Mako: I'm getting hungry. Got anything sweet? [The shark grabs PickyPiggy by her medal and sniffs for something sweet.]
I'll bite your hands off so I can eat [PickyPiggy quickly gave her a lollipop when she bore her teeth. The shark lets her go before the shark's name, "Maggie Mako," falls from the sky.]
Simon Smoke: I'm cool and popular, so don't you forget [CraftyCorn gets pulled away by the dragon so that he can hold her in his arms with a flirty smile. He then gives her a rose and winked, shocking her friends.]
Though in the spotlight [He flew up to his name, "Simon Smoke," before going to Touille.]
Simon and Touille: You ain't seen nothing yet (Poe: Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha) [Simon picks up Touille and throws him in his trashcan, making Poe laugh at the misfortune.]
Baba, Rabie, and Maggie: Mirror, mirror on the wall [The Nightmare Babes were looking at a mirror window and strike poses like models: Maggie does the flex one arm pose, Baba does the Look Over the Shoulder, and Rabie does the hands-on-hips pose.]
Who's the best Critters of them all? [The guys and Poe join them to do a huddle group hug while they look at the Smiling Critters at the side, who are also reflected on the mirror window but in the background.]
Welcome to my nightmare world, nightmare world [The New Critters then do the moonwalk before pillars in their colors wake them up, shocking the Smiling Critters.]
Baba: *harmonizing like a gospel singer] Ooooh, aaaah! (Icky: Haha!) [But the Smiling Critters begin to be surprised when Baba starts to harmonize beautifully as her friends start to dance.]
Being Baaaaaaaaaaad! (Rabie: Sing it, Baba!) [Rabie opens her wings while she dances.]
Is Raaaaaaaaaaad! (Touille: Yeeeeaaaah!) [Touille hops on his tail like a spring.]
Goooooo wiiiiiiiiiiild! (Maggie: Hahahaha) [Maggie does the backspin.]
We're fiendish! (Simon: Tell 'em, Babs!) [Simon does the Flare while blowing flames.]
We're nightmarish! (Allister: Go higher, girl!) (Poe: Bring it out!) [Allister and Poe pointed over to Baba while she held herself.]
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh! [Baba then gets on her knees to out the loudest but excellent singing that causes all the windows to break and unleash color spotlights.]
Nightmare Critters: We're wild to the core, core [The new Critters' pillars go down while they perform the dance sequence from Descendants' Rotten to Core.]
Wild to the core [The Smiling Critters were impressed while unknowingly tapping to the music.]
We're wild to the core, core [Instead of waiting for the pillars to take them down, the new Critters jumped off of their pillars.]
Who could ask for more? (Rabie: S-C-A-R-E!) [The Smiling Critters gasped, thinking the new Critters would get hurt.]
We're nothing like the Smiling Freaks, who grin up to their cheeks [But they landed perfectly on their feet before extending their hands to the Smiling Critters as if they want them to join their dance.]
We're wild to the core(Simon: Ah!), We're wild to the(Touille: Woo!) [The Smiling Critters were hesitant as they showed their hands.]
We're wild to the core (Allister: Every night!) [But the new Critters pulled them over to them and started spinning together as they held hands.]
We're wild to the core, core. [From which New Critter is spinning together with which Smiling Critter, they are: Baba and DogDay, Icky and Kickin, Rabie and CatNap, Allister and Hoppy, Simon and Crafty, Poe and Bobby, Touille and Bubba, and Maggie and Picky.]
Wild to the core [Once the Smiling Critters got on the dance floor, they danced along to the music just like the new Critters were doing it.]
We're wild to the core, core. [The Smiling Critters and the new Critters slide away from each other in a straight vertical line.]
Who could ask for more? [They all do the Windmill.]
We're nothing like the Smiling Freaks, who grin up to their cheeks [They all slide to each other, but the Smiling Critters are in front of the new Critters in a horizontal line.]
We're wild to the core, we're wild to the (Baba: ha-ha) [The Smiling Critters then took a step back while the new Critters took a step forward.]
We're wild to the core [However, the title of the new Critters, "Nightmare Critters," slides over from the right and shoves the Smiling Critters out of the scene.]
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! [The Nightmare Critters then backflip to be on the word Nightmare as they laughed.]
Suddenly, the TV glitched again to show the Nightmare Critters toyline while the announcer said, "That's right, folks. Teens can now enjoy the wonders of Playtime Co's with the new Nightmare Critters. Like the Smiling Critters, pull their tails and get sprayed by their wild but comforting scent for sleep. What's the time?"
"PLAYTIME!" said the children.
However, the TV glitched again to glimpse the BiggerBody Nightmare Critters until blackout.
