The Trip of Terror Part 2(A fan sequel to INUbis's Hide and Sleep)
Based on INUbis's Smiling Critters series
Back with the Critters, they fall through vents like a tube slide. The vent goes into a downward triple zigzag, then a left double loop-da-loop, and then, strangely, a right-way spelling, "Follow INUbis." The Critters fell out of an air shaft and landed in a large pill of stuffed toys.
DogDay poked his head out and said, "Is everyone okay?"
"We fell in a trap door and went through some roller coaster vent. What do you think?" Baba Chops poked her head out of the pile.
The rest poked their heads out for Touille to say, "Wow, it stinks in here. Did we fall into a garbage shot?"
"Ugh! What rotten luck!" said Bubba Bubbaphant as everyone rubbed their medals to make them glow brighter.
But the Critters became disturbed by the ripped and broken toys of PJ Pug-a-Piller, Boxy Boo, Kissy Missy, Huggy Wuggy, and Yarnaby. They all ran off the pile and looked at me in shock.
"Uh...Did we land in the Destroy-A-Toy Station?" Baba asked.
But the Critters looked around and noticed the cave filled with more toy piles around them.
"Critters, I don't think we're in Playtime Co. anymore," said DogDay.
"Woah, this cave is insane. Reminds me of home in some way," said Rabie Baby.
"Me too," Simon Smoke agreed.
"So bats and dragons do live in caves. Cool," said KickinChicken.
"Kickin, you do realize that we're in an unknown location. We need to get out of here before Ms. Delight notices we're gone," said Hoppy Hopscotch.
"Listen to your bunny buddy, Chicken. I don't like it here either. I want to leave," Icky Licky said.
As the two Critter groups walk ahead, CatNap said, "This place...It's like it's from a nightmare."
"Oh, thanks for mentioning it, putty tat," Touille, annoyed along with his friends
"How are you guys not freaked out by this place? It's dark, damped, eerily quiet, and it smells like it hasn't had cleaning maintenance for a decade."
"Please, my friends and I have seen worse. And in case you forgot: Poe and Baba like the dark, Allister Gator and Maggie Mako enjoy damped areas, Baba and Allister enjoy creepy quiet, and Icky and I love anything that smells."
"It sounds like the only normal people in your group are Batgirl and Dragonboy terribly."
"Hey!" Rabie and Simon yelled.
The Critters then find themselves in a prison area with hopscotch from Chapter 4, Doctor Trailer.
"Are we even underneath Playtime Co anymore?" CraftyCorn worried.
"You know this place isn't much different than Juvenile School," said Maggie.
"Wait! Juvey is like a prison?!" PickyPiggy is in shock.
"It's Juvenile School. Of course, it's like a prison. Like Touille said, my friends and I've seen worst."
"My goodness, I can't believe you have to live like that," DogDay concerned.
"Ah, so what if we have to? We've gotten used to it," Allister yawned.
"Are you kidding me? You have to live in a prison school. You had to be miserable by it," said Bobby BearHug.
"We've grown numb to that feeling," said Poe.
"Woah. That was so deep. My friends and I can't help but pity you," Bubba said.
The Nightmare Critters were so offended that they pushed the Smiling Critters down.
"Hey, what did you do that for?!" DogDay yelled
"You dare say you pity us?! What a lie!" Baba yelled as the Smiling Critters backed up.
"You think we're lying?! That's not true."
"You think we didn't go through this before?! A field trip with a different class outside of Juvey, and they try to be nice to us?! Admit it, your teacher bribed you with a school day off!"
"As a matter of fact-" CatNap tried to speak, but DogDay covered his mouth to keep him quiet.
"Ugh! We knew it! You guys are just like rest: redeem us for your gain," said Touille.
"You're wrong! We are nothing like the other classes you've met before! We truly want to help you," Kickin says, standing up for his friends.
"Well, maybe you wouldn't be like those other classes if you didn't show us your big fake smiles!" Icky yelled.
The Smiling Critters gasped from being offended by this before Kickin said and touched Icky's chest in anger, "What did you say, punk?!"
"Big...FAKE...smiles!"
"How dare you say our smiles are fake?!"
"Bring on, Chicken Tenders! Bring it on!"
Bobby quickly intervenes between the angered and balled-fisted pair, saying, "Now, hold on a second. Let's all stay calm and listen to each other."
"Oh ho, now wimpy Teddy wants to preach to us," Rabie mocked.
"Hey, you can't talk to my friend like that!" Crafty yelled.
"But it's the truth. And I must be honest, your art is for babies to make."
Soon, all but DogDay and CatNap start to argue among themselves.
CatNap was concerned that he held DogDay's hand, and DogDay said, "Wait! Wait! I know tensions are high..."
But then the pair witnessed everyone get in a fight cloud. Hits, yells, and kicks were heard inside the fight cloud. The cloud cleared to reveal that Icky was holding Kickin by the neck with his tongue. But Kickin bites his tongue so he can let go. Kickin then ties Icky with his tongue so he punches him constantly.
"Woah, I didn't expect to see my friends get so violent. Kickin and Hoppy, yes. But the others, not a chance," CatNap commented.
Hoppy is ready to throw arms on Allister but finds him asleep. But he opened one eye to bite Hoppy on the foot. She screamed in pain before she tried to shake him off. Because of her energy, she shook so fast that he opened his and flew off the scene. Hoppy then goes after him and hits where they heard off-scene, too.
"Come on, guys. Is this necessary?!" DogDay shouted.
Simon held Crafty's shoulders and said, "This is your last chance, Craftybaby. Stand down, and nobody gets hurt."
But Crafty kicked him in the crotch. It hurt so much that he slowly fell down and whence in pain. She then does the wrestling Elbow Drop on Simon off-scene.
"Oh, I guess Crafty doesn't need our protection from him after all," CatNap surprised.
Rabie flew above Bobby and said, "You think you beat me? Do you want Hoppy to know what you do to the carrots she gives you?"
But Bobby pulled Rabie down so she could give a bone-cracking bear hug.
"Gah! I was wrong! You're not a wimpy teddy!" Rabie shrieked.
"She knows my pain," DogDay commented.
Bubba goes over to a flying Poe and says, "Normal, I'm not kin to violence, but when someone offends the name of the Smiling Critters, I bring the heavy-loaded strength of the largest land animal on the Earth."
But Poe pecks Bubba's head and says, "You are even more of a bigmouth than Rabie and Touille combined!"
Bubba wrapped Poe by the neck with his trunk and constantly pounded their head on the ground.
"Everyone, settle down, please!" DogDay yelped.
Maggie is looking for Picky, but then she hears a chomp and sees Picky biting on her tail.
"You bit me?! You bit ME?!" Maggie said.
"Yes! And I'll do it again, too!" Picky said.
"Fine then! Let the bite-athon commence!"
Maggie and Picky pounce on each other and begin to bite each other.
"Okay, that's it! Everyone needs a nap. I'm ending this!" said CatNap, putting lavender mouth spray on.
"You're not doing that, CatNap," DogDay stops him.
"I told you the Nightmare Creeps were nothing but trouble!"
"No, you didn't!"
"I'm telling ya now!"
Suddenly, Baba came behind CatNap and kicked him out of sight. Seeing his best friend get hurt, DogDay growled like a beast at a confused Baba. He then pounced on her and beat her up in a fight cloud.
She sheep-screamed, "AAAAAAAAA! It was supposed to be the other way around!"
CatNap got back up, horrified to see his best friend fighting a girl.
"Yep! I better put a stop to this before anyone gets killed!" CatNap is about to breathe his Sleep Gas.
But Touille came up from behind to step on his tail. CatNap let out Tom Cat's scream before turning angry and growling at Touille.
CatNap showed his claws and teeth with an evil smile and said, "No teacher to protect you now!"
Realizing his disadvantage, Touille said, "Sacre bleu."
Touille screamed and ran away as CatNap chased him, Tom and Jerry style. As the Smiling Critters and Nightmare Critters continued to fight each other, their ruckus was so loud that eyes were in shadows, near or far.
But one eye in particular shows itself and says, "They're here...Get them."
Back with the Critters, their fight continued. DogDay is shaking Baba like a chew toy in his mouth. CatNap is napping while hitting Touille on the ground with his tail. Icky pulls on Kickin's leg while Kickin pounds his fists on the ground. Rabie is being crushed and choked by Bobby's bear hug. Hoppy is ground-pounding on Allister, but he sleeps it off. Simon is holding Crafty on the ground, but she continues to kick him in the crotch. Poe is pecking on Bubba's head, but he uses his trunk to squeeze them red. Picky bit Maggie on the tummy while she bites her back.
"Can you see us? Can you hear us?" Children's voices were singing from the darkness.
They continued singing those two sentences, which caused the Smiling Critters and the Nightmare Critters to stop fighting and listen very carefully.
DogDay dropped Baba from his mouth and said, "Does anybody else hear singing?"
"I can hear it too," said Hoppy, moving her ears around.
"Me too. It's nerving and unpleasant," Rabie said, and Bobby let her go.
Suddenly, a pink hand grabbed CatNap, and a yellow hand grabbed Simon, taking them up into the dark ceiling.
They screamed when taken.
"CatNap!" DogDay yelled.
"Simon!" Baba shouted.
Then, the rest of the Critters were picked and held tightly by colorful Huggy Wuggys. The red one held DogDay, Baba, Touille, and Crafty. The orange Huggy grabbed Rabie, Bobby, Kickin, and Icky. The yellow one captured Bubba and Poe. The green Huggy restrained Hoppy and Allister. The purple one was tightening Picky and Maggie.
"What's going on?!" Bobby confused.
"Let us go, you Huggy copies," Icky yelled.
But when the Huggies showed their monstrous teeth, the Critters were terrified that Picky said, "On second thought, please don't eat us."
"Interesting, they're like Mr. Wuggy's species, but they're not," Bubba said.
Soon, the Runied Critters, Smiling and Nightmare, including the Wuggies and Mini Wuggies, crawled out of the darkness as they sang.
"Are those supposed to be us?" Kickin questioned.
"How dare Playtime Co. make living toy versions of us! Without our permission nor paying us!" Poe annoyed.
"Did you forget that monsters are holding us, Poe? And let's not forget CatNap and Simon were taken!" Maggie yelled.
A gasp was from above, and a female voice said, "New family members!"
Experiment 1222: Mommy LongLegs climbed down from the darkness with CatNap in her left hand, mouth covering her spiderweb.
"It's been so long. Isn't this exciting, Daddy?" Mommy said, looking at her left.
Then, Experiment Daddy LongLegs showed him so with web-gagged Simon in his right hand that he answered, "Very exciting, Mommy."
"Ms. LongLegs?!" Allister is shocked.
As she and Daddy came down, she said, "Yes and no. Mommy was a resident of Playcare like the rest of us until she was chosen to move to Level 5, the Labs, and turned into Mommy's likeness. Through the cruel experimentation and mistreatment, Mommy loves who she is today. Endless friends and play are all given."
"So, if I get this correct, you were once an orphan of Playcare who was selected and then kidnapped to be turned into a living scary version of the real Mommy LongLegs. Though you look like her, yet you're not her. So, you're an evil version of her who works for the dark side of Playtime Co," said Touille.
"Yes."
CatNap and Simon struggle to break free from Mommy and Daddy's grasp.
"Now, now, you two. Mommy and Daddy don't want you to put anyone to sleep or burn them. We've seen how capable you are. That's why he chose you," said Daddy, petting Simon's hair.
"He?" Crafty, scared.
"Wonderful...They've arrived," said a voice.
All experiments stood and saluted before the darkness ahead of the captured Smiling and Nightmare Critters; even the Ruined Critters stopped singing. Coming out of the darkness is the Doctor Experiment(Harley Swayer) riding on Yarnaby like a horse with experiments: Boxy Boo and Pianousurus behind them.
"Who are you supposed to be?!" Maggie is in shock.
"My creations would refer to me as the Eye of Playtime or the Doctor. But my real name is Harley Swayer," he answered.
"Who?" Critters confused.
"It's evident that Playtime Co. never mentioned me in their history. So you were right not to know who I am. But I have run this factory since Elliot was gone."
"Judging that you're a robot, consider the people who work for you to be called your creations. You sound more like a terrible tyrant than a bad boss. And I thought my friends and I had already met the worst people," said Baba.
"Don't make him angry, Baba. He looks like he can hurt us," DogDay whispered.
Boxy Boo goes into his box for The Doctor to use him as a stepping stool.
Once he got on the ground, Harley continued while petting Yarnaby, "I've been watching and researching both of your groups ever since I heard about your existence: such intriguing abilities, outstanding behaviors, and strong intelligence. I tried to mimic you, but I was never close to perfection. It was pure luck that your schools' suggested you take a field trip."
"Ew, major stalker vibes," Rabie commented.
"Does that mean you've been watching us throughout our visit?" Poe questioned.
"Yes. Watching and waiting for the opportunity to take the chance for you to come to me. Now that you're here, let the experiments begin," the Doctor answered.
"Experiments?!" the Critters were concerned.
"You will help make my creations better than before. Besides, you're orphans. You'll finally have a place to belong. Take them to their special waiting room."
"The one with the hanging cage, Doctor?" Mommy asks.
"No, no. The other one."
"You mean the playroom cage with collars as chains? It will be good for the dog," said Daddy.
Then CatNap out muffled screams in anger and tries to get free from Mommy's hand.
"Woah, easy, kitty," Mommy tries to calm CatNap down by rocking him.
"Even FatNap goes crazy for his doggy," said Touille.
"Not that one either. I mean the Tower," said the Doctor.
All of the experiments gasped as concerning the Critters.
"Isn't that a bit much, Doctor? They're still children," said Mommy, having CatNap's face against her chest, which suffocates him.
"And just out of curiosity, will that be their permanent room?" Daddy asks while squeezing Simon like a stress doll.
"Yes...," said the Doctor.
The experiments gasped and began to feel guilty until they nodded in agreement.
The LongLegs Couple and the Wuggies carried the Critters, who cried, "You can't do this! I don't want a medical examination! I hate doctors! I hate vets! Let us go! You'll regret this! I want to go home!"
Boxy Boo and Pianosaurus looked at the Doctor with begging eyes to plead to go easy on the Critters. But Yarnaby roared at the two to stop them. They felt fear that Boxy would go back into his box, and Pianosaurus shook with broken keynotes. The Doctor steps on Boxy's box to get back on Yarnaby's back so they and the other two can return to the darkness.
The Tower was 100 feet tall and made entirely of colorful building blocks in vibrant red, yellow, white, and blue shades. It stands proudly with a single large window at the top, allowing a panoramic view of the surroundings. At the base, a single door provides access to the interior. Inside, the Tower is designed to hold up to 16 people comfortably. The interior is divided into multiple levels, each connected by ladders or stairs. The building blocks give the Tower a playful and whimsical appearance, while the sturdy construction ensures it remains secure and functional. The combination of bright colors and the unique design makes this prison toy tower eye-catching and imaginative, perfect for sparking creativity and storytelling. However, because it was an underground cave, it felt like it was meant to hide the ugly truth.
The Smiling Critters were eagerly holding the bars of their cell to get out. On the other hand, the Nightmare Critters were at the corners of the cell, with their heads down on their arms and legs together.
"We got to get out of here! We're too young to be fixed!" DogDay yelled.
CatNap clawed the cobweb in his mouth and said, "I swear if they put a scalpel near you, our friends, and even me, it's a month-long nap with 50 times the nightmares."
"Okay, since the Doctor is a robot, he can watch our every move. So, we need to disable the camera and any microphone devices that can hear us," Bubba suggested.
"We'll miss lunch if we don't get out of here! And I can't tell that we will not be fed properly if we don't escape!" Picky worried.
Hoppy kicked the bars and said, "How could we let this happen?! Since the Doctor was a robot, he watched us through the security cameras!"
"We should've known we were being watched since we entered Playtime Co!" Kickin punched the bars between every word.
He screamed in pain while holding his hands together before Hoppy tried to check on him.
Crafty cried as Bobby tried to comfort her, "I just want to go home!"
"Don't worry, Crafty. We'll find a way out of here," Bobby hugged her.
"Will you Freaks stop? It's not like we have anywhere we need to be," Baba said.
"Oh, come on, Baba. Now is not the best time to argue again," DogDay said as he turned to the Nightmare Critters with his friends.
"I have to say. I never imagine to see a bunch of tough smartmouths like these guys looking down on the dumps," said CatNap.
"CatNap, what did I just say?!"
"It was a comment, DogDay. I didn't intend to start an argument."
"We don't understand why you want to leave. We don't have anyone to return to because we're orphans," said Touille.
"Woah! Okay, that was deep. Especially for you," said Kickin.
"Touille is telling the truth. Nobody cares for you a bit if you're an orphan kid. It's part of a hard knock life of the reality," Icky gripping his fist.
"Hey, that's not true. There are still some people that care about children like us," said Hoppy.
"Sure there are. But in reality, those adults are doing it to prove that they're good people to hide their real sides, including their sins," Allister barked.
"How could you say that?! Ms. Delight cared about me and my friends. I'm sure your teacher cares about you, too," said Crafty.
"All she cared about was money and wanting to be rid of us. At least she'll finally get the chance since we'll never leave this place," Simon said after removing the cobwebs from his mouth.
"What happened to the big and proud Nightmare Critters? You have a sense of free will and rebellious spirit," said Bubba.
"You don't get it! No one outside of Juey would ever understand people like us! Stop showing those hopeful smiles and face the facts," Poe yelled.
"We want to understand. We know how it feels to be troubled from being orphans," said Bobby.
"Why? Why are you still always smiling?! You don't have a family—you don't have parents, you don't have siblings—and yet you continue to smile!" said Maggie.
"Well, that's because—" Picky tried to speak but was cut off by Rabi's speaking.
Rabie shook in sorrow, "You have the best qualities of children, yet you were never adopted. This field trip was our last chance to get out of Juvey. All of our fun was nice while it lasted. At least we won't go back to that prison. We can finally leave this world that doesn't want us. Dying is the only way to be free from this lifetime of suffering."
Then, shocking the Smiling Critters, they see the Nightmare Critters reveal their tear-filled faces. This sight was the real Nightmare Critters: unloved, rejected, outcasted, misunderstood, and miserable.
In their heads, the Smiling Critters remember Ms. Delight said, "These students are troubled at heart and find comfort in making bad habits."
Much to the Nightmare Critters' surprise, the Smiling Critters hugged them comfortably.
"What are you doing?" Baba asked.
"We thought you could use the very advice and comfort we received from an Angel we'd meet," DogDay said.
"An Angel?"
"Well, it's how we described their personality. We met this Angel on the day my friends and I met," Bobby said; the Smiling Critters sat next to the Nightmare Critters.
A black-and-white flashback started at Miss Delight's class. The Smiling Critters were at their desks, working on their schoolwork. They all looked eager to know each other, but we're protective of themselves.
Bubba said, "It was the first day of class. We were elected to be classmates together because our parents mysteriously disappeared after going to work. The school system thought it best for students with the same problems to stick together and be comfortable with each other; however, we had to do everything to care for ourselves, meaning we became very wary of our surroundings. So, there's no communication between us."
CraftyCorn said, "At least we were determined to do our best to know each other. But we held back to act like adults for our protection."
Picky heard Kickin's stomach growl, and she wanted to offer him an apple. Bobby saw Hoppy looking sad and wished to hug her to comfort her. Bubba noticed Crafty trying to figure out a math problem and wanted help but held back. DogDay was staring at CatNap, so curious to know him. DogDay reached out to tap on his shoulder, but when CatNap turned suspiciously, DogDay held back his hand and returned to his schoolwork. But CatNap was confused but sighed in disappointment because he did not know how to make friends.
"We thought the treatment was going to last until we graduate. That is until they came into our classroom," Hoppy said.
"Class, we have a visitor today," Ms. Delight said.
The door opened, and the Smiling Critters looked up to see who was there. It was the Player with the Grab Pack equipped.
The Smiling Critters looked puzzled as Hoppy narrated, "For some reason, we saw angelic hope from this person. They had a heavenly aura, a halo above their head, a golden body, and their face...Um?...they didn't have one."
"Did they really look like how you described?" Icky spoke up.
"Dude, it's been a long time since we've last seen the guy. Now, where were we? Oh yeah," Kickin continued. "Ms. Delight left us in the Angel's care. For some reason, they knew us all by heart. They even gave us gifts that made us smile and help us open up to each other."
The Player takes out a basket of gifts for the Smiling Critters. They hand Bobby a rose-scented snuggle doll, Bubba a Lemongrass-scented notebook, a Jasmine-scented Color Changing Marker for Crafty, a Vanilla Bone for DogDay, Hoppy was handed a Peppermint-Scented Soccer Ball, Kickin got a Ylang-ylang Scented Shades, Picky has a Citrus Scented Lunchbox, and CatNap received a Lavender Scented Pillow.
As the Smiling Critters smiled at getting their gifts, the Player gestured for them to come over. The Smiling Critters held their gifts close to their hearts as they exited their desks and went over. In birth order, the Player patted their heads. The feeling made the Smiling Critters remember how their parents did it, causing them to cry. But the Player held them for a hug. The Smiling Critters were comforted by the warm hug and the scent of the gifts.
The Player then took their hands together. The Smiling Critters looked at each other and saw that the pain in their eyes was the same. Seizing the opportunity, Picky handed an apple for Kickin to eat. He gave her a thumbs-up as a thank you before eating it. Bobby then hugs Hoppy, which she appreciates. Bubba showed Crafty his work on the math problem she struggled with, and she smiled as thanks. DogDay wagged his tail and extended his hand toward CatNap. CatNap was a bit hesitant to shake his hand. But upon seeing the rest of his classmates smiling and finding a bright future ahead if he sticks around, he shook DogDay's hand. Overjoyed, DogDay hugged CatNap, surprised but smiled at making his first friend.
The Smiling begin to act comfortable with each other but then notice the Player is about to leave. They tried to follow them, but the Player turned them as if they wanted to say something.
Picky then narrated, "Before the Angel left, they said these words of advice: The darkest times call for the sunniest smiles."
When the flashback ends, the Nightmare Critters stared at the Smiling Critters with teardrops in their eyes.
The Smiling Critters seemed surprised until Rabie said, "You told us how you met, so what is it supposed to do to make us feel better?"
"Tell me: when did you feel the happiest?" CatNap asked.
"The happiest? All of us?" Allister questioned.
Together, the Nightmare Critters recall in black-and-white the day they met in Juvenile School. They were in Ms. DF's dirty and disrepair version of Ms. Delight's classroom and all at their desks on their first day. They pay no mind to each other because they are angry but upset that their parents ran out on them to go to work, and their mischief to cool off their sorrows landed them in Juvey.
"So...," Touille continued. "What you all in here for? Stupid parents of mine didn't come back from work and left me to fend the house to myself. I tried to get food from trash cans, seeing that the cheapest way to get something to eat."
"Wow. Do you dumpster dive all the time? Sounds sick!" Icky commented. "They brought me here because I challenge some officer jerk for being too hard on their partner."
"I know. The law and order of this world sucks. I came to this joint because I was sleeping in a river. I'm an alligator for crying out loud," Allister complained.
"Woah, boys. Give me more gossip. Was it wrong for a pretty girl like myself wanting to stir up drama to mention that a politician was having a romance with a rival?"
"You think you had it worst, batgirl? I want to take back the candy from a rich meathead for stealing a group of kids' candy. No one deserves to get their candy taken," Maggie said.
"Yeah. Especially money. I saw this poor old lady getting scammed by a con artist, so I beat them to get her money back," said Simon.
"Wow, you're all softies acting like baddies. But do you count cursing at a sunscreen shop for ripping people off with useless sunscreen?" Poe asked.
"Nah, blackbird. You did well. The world doesn't like Critters like us for standing up for ourselves and showing our character."
Then they turned to Baba, who was deep in thought.
But then she felt their gazes and said, "What?"
"Aren't you going to tell your story, black sheep?" Touille asked.
"Why should I?"
"Everyone did," said Simon.
"It's not like it's part of school tradition."
"Is it spicy? Please speak," Rabie touches Baba's wool.
Amazed by the softness, Rabie snuggled on Baba and said, "OMG, your wool is the softest thing I ever felt. Even better than my fur. What's your secret?"
"Hey, get off of me. Give me some space," Baba annoyed.
"Really? Let me feel. Woo, you're like the blackberry cotton candy. I want more," Maggie joins in the snuggle.
Soon, the rest join in and enjoy Baba's soft wool. Angered, Baba pulled out a pocket knife in defense, causing everyone to stand back.
"Quit it! I'll tell my story if you give me space," Baba yelled.
"Woah, easy, girl. Your wool was just too soft. We can't help it," said Icky.
"Sorry. My parents ran out on me, and I had to look after the house alone. A mad dog pervert tried to touch my wool, and I ended up attacking in defense with cuts and bites, which landed me here."
"Woah. Now that story was the worst," Poe commented.
"I'm glad I'm not the only one here with parents who abandon," Allister said.
"Me too," said Simon.
"Oui. It is faith for us to be in one class," said Touille.
"Usually, I prefer to be alone, but it's not bad to have company," Baba scratches the back of her head.
"We should form a group, and you can be our leader, Black sheep," Rabie suggested.
"Oh, yeah. A leader with a pocket knife sounds cool," Maggie agreed.
"It's Baba. Baba Chops," Baba shows a smile.
As the Nightmare Critters introduced each other, Simon mentioned, "I guess it was the day we all meet."
With the memory ending, CatNap said, "That's right. You may have lost the family who loves you, but you created friendship, which tends to it. It may not be the same, but it gives a brighter perspective in your lives."
The Nightmare Critters genuinely laughed and smiled before Poe said, "Wow...You Smiling Freaks are very strange in a good way. We can't believe you made us all better."
"Glad to hear it. Now, are you Nightmare Creeps in on busting out of this jail?" DogDay smirked.
"Oh, please. You forgot who you're talking to. We're pros at escaping. Show them, Touille," Maggie said as the Critters stood up.
"Bien sûr, Maggie," said Touille, pulls on CatNap's tail.
"Hey, what are you doing to my tail?!" CatNap yelled.
"Well, only three of us can fly, so your tail is the best thing to help us down."
Touille tossed CatNap's tail out of the big window, and it fell.
"For your information, CatNap's tail is long but not that long for us to get down from a hundred-foot-tall prison tower," said Bubba.
But when CatNap's tail tip reached the ground, everyone was amazed, including CatNap.
Rabie, Simon, and Poe flew out of the window as Rabie said, "Woah, I didn't think that would work. Lucky that Moonkitty's tail is the best rope to help you guys."
"See ya at the bottom," Poe said before they, Rabie and Simon went down.
"I always wanted to do this," DogDay happily grabs CatNap's tail, rappelling down.
"Woah, easy, buddy. It's still my tail!" CatNap called out.
When DogDay reached the bottom, he said, "That was fun. Come on, Critter Crew! It's safe to use CatNap's tail."
"I'm going to do it quick and get it over with. Cannonball!" Hoppy shouted before going down.
"Way cool! My turn!" Kickin shouted before going down.
"I'll go down slowly," Bubba goes next.
"Me too. I don't want to puke up my breakfast," Picky says, starting to go down as slowly as she can.
"I'd rather take the stairs," said Crafty.
"Don't tell me you're scared of a little action," Icky teased.
"I can't stand heights."
"Ugh, fine. Hey, Simon. The unicorn can't come down. Take her," Baba called out.
"Wait!" the Smiling Critters surprised.
Simon instantly came back up with his tail wagging and said, "A gallant prince can't resist. Come with me, Princess."
"Uh, will you fly down slowly?" Crafty asks.
"Of course."
Simon picked Crafty with his arms and flew down.
"Like from a fairytale," Bobby commented as she went down.
"Coming through," Icky goes down.
"Woo," Allister goes next.
"Wee," Baba cheered while going down.
"Right on!" Maggie followed.
"I'm going down," Touille uses CatNap's tail last.
Everyone was on their feet when Touille reached the bottom, and CatNap said, "Great. Now, explain how I get down."
"Like this," Touille said before pulling down CatNap's tail.
It caused CatNap to fall, but DogDay was ready and caught him in his arms.
But a flashlight shined on the Critters, and a voice said, "It looks like we didn't have to help you escape."
"Who's there?" Bubba shouted.
Experiments emerge from the darkness: Kissy Missy and Poppy Playtime on her shoulder.
"Before you do anything, we're here to help get out of here before it's too late," said Poppy.
"O my gosh, you're Poppy Playtime," Crafty amazed.
"You're tiny," Maggie commented.
"Shhhh. The Doctor is now being occupied, thanks to Ollie. We can show a way back to the surface," said Poppy, taking out a blueprint map of Playtime Co. and the Train Code.
Poppy tossed them to Baba and said, "First, you need to use the elevator lift that will take you to the hatch room of the gas production zone within the Playcare Orphanage. When there, go to the Elliot Express Cable Car, which will take you to the Train. By using the Train Code I've given you, the Train will take you to the ground level of Playtime Co, which will allow you to leave. But before you go, there's a supply closet filled with Grab Packs and their hands down on the hallway behind the third door to your right. Let's go, Kissy."
"Wait, you're not coming with us?" Bobby asked.
"Don't you want to leave this place?" Allister asked.
"We can tell you don't like this place. Come with us," said Hoppy.
"No. We are still waiting for the Angel to come and end it all. All experiments must be present at our Hour of Joy. Please leave and never return to Playtime Co., or you will end up like the rest of us," said Poppy before she and Kissy disappeared into the darkness.
"They're gone," CatNap commented as DogDay put him down.
"Cool," Poe commented.
"We don't have time to lose. We need to leave," said Baba.
"Let's find that supply closet and gear up," DogDay says, leading the rest of the group.
"Since we often escape from Juvey, we usually take out security cameras. I would use my echo to get them out, and Simon would burn them down," said Rabie.
"Radical," Kickin commented.
"I know. Finally, it is a good reason to get loose and be chaotic. Don't blame me and my friends if you can't keep up," said Allister.
"Ha! As if!" Hoppy scoffed.
"Our chaos ain't something for goodie-two-paws could handle. Just want to warn ya if you can't keep up," said Simon.
"My friends and I aren't squeaky clean as you think," Picky smirked.
"Wait, seriously?" Simon said with the rest of the Nightmare Critters.
"Did you forget my friends and I beat you in our fight? And I also kicked you in the-"
"Ahehehe, no, I didn't. I was kidding. Besides, it still hurts."
When the Critters find the door, Icky tries to open it, but it is locked.
"Darn it. You know what to do, Maggie," he said.
Maggie chomps the door down, and it shows a lot of Grab Packs. The Smiling and Nightmare Critters smirked at each other before getting equipped them.
"Hey, a stereo. We can use this," said Simon, taking a Playtime Co.-themed stereo.
"For what exactly?" Bubba asks.
"In case of a chase scene."
"Uh...? Sure?"
"Not a bad idea, Simon. A little flare in this escape doesn't sound so bad," Kickin commented.
"Not if we're trying to escape with our lives. We can't be seen," Hoppy annoyed.
The Doctor, in his main surveillance room, is on the phone with Ollie, who says, "If you wish to get the Sleeping Gas that CatNap has, that will allow you to control it to determine what kind of dreams the person he sprays has, I think we make a remote control containment that has the settings to switch from dream to nightmare."
"Oh, genius and generous Ollie. You are sweet as can be, but you are quite infuriating at times," the Doctor answered.
But then the Doctor noticed something on one of his monitors, so he hung up on Ollie and went over to it. His eye reddened to see the Smiling and Nightmare Critters running through the wall.
"So, they've escaped...More genius than I calculated... Let the testing begin," the Doctor said before pounding his fist on an alarm button.
It caused an alarm sound similar to the one in Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 during Kissy Missy's first appearance. The experiments were alerted by the alarm. Yarnaby, Pianosaurus, and Boxy Boo were sleeping together in the cell area until the alarm woke them up. Mommy and Daddy LongLegs were kissing in the form of making out at the mines until the alarm interrupted them, much to their disappointment.
When the Smiling and Nightmare Critters heard the alarm, they jumped as Baba said, "What the lamb?! We've already been found out!"
"And it only took 30 seconds for them to notice our escape. What a new record," Icky looking at his watch.
"Idiot! Now they know we've escaped!" Poe yelled.
"But on the bright side, it's action escape music time. Hit it, Simon," Allister said.
"Alright! Let's run and fly for it, Critters," Simon cheered.
When he switched the Playtime Stereo, it started playing rock-n-roll chase music. The Smiling Critters and Nightmare Critters began running to find the Elevator to take them to Playcare.
But when they approached a gate with a lock blocking their path, Simon kissed his fist before punching the lockdown to open the gate.
"Wow, Simon. That was impressive," Crafty commented.
Simon hides his blush by acting prideful and says, "I am the popular strength of Nightmare Critters. Let's get wild!"
"Pleasure Pleaser," Rabie taunted.
When the Critters ran through the gate, Nightmare Ruined Critters came crawling out of the prisons while singing continuously, "Can you see us? Can you hear us?"
"Only fools would dare to copy us. And said fools deserve to burn!" Icky yelled.
The Nightmare Critters, but Simon, used their Flare Hands, which only made the Ruined Critters move back into the darkness.
"Hey, come back!" Maggie yelled.
"It's better to defend than fight. Flare them up, Critter Crews," DogDay said.
The Critters continued to run as they fired flares, but Simon used his fire breath to force the Ruined Critters back into the darkness. The five Wuggies(red, orange, yellow, green, and purple came out of cages to attack. DogDay throws out his Vanilla Bone like a boomerang, hitting the orange and purple Wuggies and knocking them out.
"Nice throw, Doggy treat," Baba commented.
"A leader has to learn to defend themselves and their teammates," DogDay answered before catching his Bone with his mouth.
"Totally."
"Hey, Hoppy. Check this out," Allister ran ahead.
Allister fell asleep for the red and yellow Wuggies to trip on him.
"Awesome," Hoppy gave a thumbs-up.
"Cool! Why didn't I think of that?" CatNap commented as Bubba and Picky used their Lemongrass Notebook and Cirtrus Lunchbook to knock both Wuggies out.
The remaining green Wuggy looked frightened by the Critters. With mischievous looks, the Nightmare Critters growled and showed their claws. Terrified, the green Wuggy screamed before its head into a pipe and passed out.
The Nightmare Critters laughed in response while Touille said, "It's always funny when people get scared of us."
"Let's hurry up before any more monsters appear," said Kickin.
Everyone looked up and saw an Orange pull-up leading them into the mines. Using their Purple Hand to grab it, they descended and somersaulted toward the mine's ground.
"It's nice to know gym class pays off," said Bobby.
"Hey, check this out. It's a mine cart. Does this lead over the Elevator?" Bubba goes over the Barry Cart.
"Sure does," Baba shows the blueprint map.
"All aboard the Barry Cart," Picky gets in.
The Smiling Critters and Nightmare Critters heard a sound. They turned to see a mine elevator coming up with Boxy Boo and Pianosaurus in it.
"Quick! Quick! Everyone in the Barry Cart," DogDay barked, trying to push the cart forward.
"I'll help, buddy," CatNap pushes as everyone else enters the cart.
"Faster, you two. The Box and Dino are coming!" Baba sees Boxy Boo and Pianosaurus charging over.
"Cover your ears, everyone. I'm about to scream," said Rabie.
Once the Critters covered their ears, Rabie let out a bat shriek that stunned Boxy Boo and Pianosaurus in place. DogDay and CatNap continue to push the cart until it begins to move. The scene shows it going down a mine track before DogDay and CatNap jump in to join the rest of the Critters. Boxy Boo and Pianosaurus snap out of their phase to follow them by going on a pump mine trolley.
"Oh no, they got a set of wheels, too," said Kickin.
"Can this cart go any faster?!" Icky yelled.
"It's not like we can control it," Poe said.
But then Daddy LongLegs landed on the Smiling Critters and Nightmare Critters' cart. Horrified, the Critters gasped and huddled up together in protection.
Daddy said gentlemanly, confusing the Critters, "Now, little ones. Before you jump to conclusions or try to defend yourselves, let me tell you why I had to partake in this capturing mission. You see, Mommy and Daddy are planning to have a Baby LongLegs. And we are so close to creating the egg of our first child. But your escape and the Doctor's demands got between the process. If you would be so kind, allow Daddy to capture that so he can return to Mommy so we can finish."
The Critters give him blank stares before blinking twice.
Daddy laughed, saying, "It's okay if you don't understand, Daddy, children. I'll tell you what. I'll pretend you defeated me so I can return to Mommy. Honestly, I'd rather let you go before becoming monsters like the rest of us experimented orphans."
However, a rock spike from the ceiling hit Daddy off the Critters' cart.
The Critters looked behind and saw Daddy falling off the spike, saying, "I'm okay."
Just then, Boxy and Pianosaurus's pump trolley ran off him, so he said, "A little bit okay."
"For the record, he was acting like a gentleman," Bobby commented.
"Better than the guys we have around us," Rabie teased.
"Hey!" the guy Critters offended.
"She's right, ya know," Hoppy said.
"Let it go, Hoppy," said Allister.
But then the Critters ducked down when Pianosaurus tried to slash them with their claws. Boxy Boo does this same to grab the Critters.
"We're never going to get out of here if these guys want to claw us into shreds," said Picky.
"It's a dead end," said Bubba.
"No, Bubba. Don't say that. There has to be a way to get away from them," said DogDay.
"No! I mean, it's a dead end ahead!"
Bubba points to a dead end for which the Critters' cart is heading.
"We're going to crash!" Crafty panics.
"Not if we jump for it," said DogDay.
"What?! Are you insane?!" Baba yelled.
"Down that way!"
DogDay pointed toward an opening on the right side.
"On three! One, two, three," he said before the Critters jumped into the opening, and Boxy Boo and Pianosaurus missed their chance to bite down on them.
The Critters land into a mine elevator and witness Boxy Boo and Painosaurus crashing into the dead end.
"That's gotta hurt," CatNap commented.
"Haha! Serves them right for trying to hurt us," said Touille.
The mine elevator then lifted the Smiling Critters and Nightmare Critters upward to a layer of the level.
"Hopefully, it'll take us to the main Elevator Hatch," Bobby said.
When it stopped, the Critters stepped out of the mine elevator before Kickin pointed in a direction and said, "The elevator!"
"Alright, let's get to Playcare before those cannibals come too," Icky cheered.
But Hoppy's ears flinched and said, "Something's here."
The Critters get down when Yarnaby appears before the Elevator Hatch and guards it, going to each end of it like a soldier.
"Oh no. It's the Doctor's pet lion," said DogDay.
"Aw, it's kinda cute," Baba commented.
But when Yarnaby opens his face-mouth to yawn, the Critters hide behind the crate for Simon to say, "Nope. Not cute. Definitely not cute."
"We're as good as lion food if we go near that thing," said Bubba.
"Bubba, what if it has a name?" Crafty asks.
"Is it now really the best time to know what that thing is called?" Maggie said.
Yarnaby shakes himself like a dog, revealing a dog tag with his name on it.
"Yarnaby? Oh, I get it. It's because his mane is made out of yarn," said Picky.
Picky instantly covered her mouth and looked at CatNap, who was joyfully foaming.
"Um, what's wrong, Moonkitty?" Rabie confused.
"Never say with y word in front of this pussy cat," DogDay said.
"What? Yarn?" Touille asks.
Hearing that word again, CatNap yelled while shaking with anticipation, "Yarn, yarn! Yarn yarn yarn yarn! Yarn YAAAARN!"
He ran over the Nightmare Critters to run over to Yarnaby with claws.
"Ouch! Jerky kitty! Watch it!" Poe yelled.
When Yarnaby spots CatNap, he charges over to him to attack. But as they ran over to each other, Yarnaby noticed the crazed look in CatNap's eyes. Yarnaby halts and starts to run away from CatNap.
The Doctor watched the chase confusedly from his monitor station, saying, "What the?! What is Experiment #1166 doing?!"
But the CatNap and Yarnaby caused the crates to hit the cameras, cutting the signal in the Elevator Hatch area.
"Daggnabbit! If you want to see what your experiments are up to, you got to see their acts in person," the Doctor stomped away.
Back in the area, CatNap's friends and the Nightmare Critters watched with eyes widening as CatNap and Yarnaby's chase caused everything to fall. CatNap eventually caught Yarnbaby pouncing on his belly and clawing it to enjoy the yarn fur.
"Wow. I know cats like yarn, but this seems like an obsession," said Allister.
"And this is one of his obsessions, and he'll do anything to get it," said DogDay.
"Oh, tell me more, Sunnydoggy," Rabie was interested.
CatNap started to purr, causing Yarnaby to calm down and enjoy his antics.
"Looks like sleepy kitty was able to tame Yarnaby. I want to pet him so badly," Baba ran over to the scene.
The others followed and saw Baba snuggling up to Yarnaby's face, which he loved.
"Oh, sure. Let the terrifying monster snuggle up against your wool and not your friends," Maggie said.
"At least this one knows not to get too extreme to break boundaries," Baba said.
"Hmph!" her friends crossed their arms.
CatNap snickered, "What? That Nightmare Critters snuggle each other?"
The Smiling Critters giggled as Kickin said, "To think the proud and tough Nightmare Critters would snuggle each other."
"Hey! When it comes to Baba's wool, it's the softest you've ever touched. And when you get a good touch for the first time, you can never go back. And I think your leader became infected by the wool," Simon pointed out, but DogDay snuggled Baba's wool.
"And this why I wanted so much space," Baba annoyed.
"That explains everything. If you want so much space, why not shave some of your wool and give it to your friends, Baba?" Bobby suggested.
"Shave?! As in barber?! Hell no!"
Baba hissed as she used DogDay as a shield.
"I wish she would. That would be a blessing to have some of her wool as my pillow," said Allister.
"But as you can see, Baba hates barbers and would never once she sheered her wool," said Poe.
"That's not good. A girl must look after her appearance at all costs," said Crafty.
"I told you, Baba. But you never listen to look after yourself," said Rabie.
"Rabie isn't kidding, Baba. Your wool can become overgrown and cause health problems. The excess wool can lead to overheating, difficulty moving, and even infections from trapped dirt and moisture. So, shearing is essential for their well-being and comfort," said Bubba.
"Don't we have other matters to tend to? Like getting out of here?" said Baba.
Everyone heard snoring and looked to see that Yarnaby had fallen asleep.
CatNap got off him and said, "He's asleep? I didn't even use my Sleep Gas on him."
Touille lifted CatNap's tail to sniff his butt and said, "Your gas makes people fall asleep?"
CatNap slapped Touille's face with his tail and said with an embarrassed look, "Not that kind of gas, ratface!"
"Shhh! Let's get out of here while Yarnaby's sleeping," Hoppy whispered.
"Yeah. I don't want to be eaten by triple mouth here," Picky whispered.
The Critters quickly tip-toed over to the Elevator Hatch, but we were confused when we saw its controls.
"How do we work this thing?" Kickin asks.
"Baba, let me take a look at those blueprints. Maybe they might have some clues," said Bubba.
"Yeah, sure, whatever," Baba hands over the blueprints.
"Ah, I see. So if I press these in this order and then push the red one."
Suddenly, the Elevator Hatch lift started going up. The Critters cheered as they disappeared upward. Once they were gone, Yarnaby woke up and was confused to see that the Smiling Critters and Nightmare Critters weren't around.
He jumped when the Doctor appeared out of nowhere, appearing angry.
"Stupid dog! You let them get away!" the Doctor yelled.
The Doctor's eye turned while letting a digital shriek, which scared Yarnaby to run away.
The Doctor calmed down before taking out his phone and said, "Ollie, connect me to PlayCare."
Once, the phone rang. The sound of a phone being answered was heard before the Doctor said, "Experiment #1188, are you there?"
"Yes...Doctor...," a voice answered.
"The new subjects are heading for your territory. Put them to sleep so they can be captured."
"I heard you loud and clear, Eye of Playtime. My group and I will have them in our paws."
The Doctor hangs up to make another call and says, "Experiment #1160, you, Pianosaurus, and Yarnaby, get back to finding Experiment #1006. We can't let him escape."
