the legends say long ago a couple prayed for a child, one they could call their own, in return the ponies got a child with a horn and pair of wings from the gods that blessed them with magic only spirits held. that child was the first alicorn, although none of their descendants hold their magic any longer, they all possess the same horn and wings.
