Flesh burned at the blade. Ash swarmed his eyes as his black blood stained the offending blade. Thamuertos refused to let the agony boil his voice, his pure red eyes locked onto his brother's pure white ones, glaring up at the man who he once considered family despite the agonizing burn of the glaive's blade buried in his chest.
"Brother..." Thamuertos spat venomously at his attacker, refusing to utter his brother's true name.
"I'm sorry..." Zhuffdor returned his brother's glare, his gaze filled with sorrow and regret.
"Don't apologize. This is within your nature," Thamuertos hissed, holding his posture unflinching even as World's Breath, his brother's signature glaive, pushed deeper into his heart. "Your rage creates. Your rage resulted in in the creationof the universe. Your rage is your nature." Thamuertos stated matter of factly, laughing maniaclly to emphasize his cold words.
Zhuffdor sighed, his eyes filled with unshed tears at his brother's words. Zhuffdor knew how kind his brother once was. He remembered how his brother would use his infinite hands to shield journeying souls from the coldness of death. He remembered how his brother loved all whom he guided. Zhuffdor could never understand why his brother turn cruel and malicious, his eyes glancing back to the magled corpses of the other gods, beings who he had called friends and family.
Zhuffdor could feel tears oozing down his marble face, all of his pent up emotions pouring through the golden cracks that littered his face, but he steeled his resolve, clenching all six of his eyes shut as he forced his blade deeper through Thamuertos' chest.
"Why do you falter, Brother? Can the god of creation not put the calamitous strength into the blows deigned to kill his brother? DO IT! Stop wasting our time and finish the job!" Thamuertos jabbed cruelly at his brother's indecisiveness. Zhuffdor could hear the cruel laughter of his brother ring out through the vast chamber. He opened his eyed as his four hands grasped the pole of his mighty glaive, the porcelain limbs shining in the etheral glow from the veins within.
Zhuffdor began to push World's Breath deeper into Thamuertos' chest with growing strength. Every push of the glaive's blade into Thamuerto's chest sent shockwaves across the marble chamber, cracks blooming from the numerous pillars surrounding the brothers in a circle. Chunks of marble break off and scatter as chunks from the ceiling above broke away to fall to the ground.
"There's the brother I knew!" Thamuertos laughed, the sound of his withered voice managed to roar above the sound of the crumbling temple despite the glaive forged from the blood of every god in their shared pantheon plunging deeper in his chest.
Zhuffdor eyes and veins began changing, the ethereal golden glow shifting into a furious blue as tendrils of the same color began bursting from his veins and coiling around World's Breath. Zhuffdor's eyes burned with a fury he knew all too well but feared all the same.
He soon could hear the cracking of bones, Thamuertos' ribs finally snapping like twigs from the full might of Zhuffdor. Before long, World's Breath pierced through Thamuertos' body, Zhuffdor's brother's heart now pinned to the cracked marble floor, blood splattering across the white surface.
Thamuertos could only laugh as he felt his life force slipping away, his voice growing weaker and weaker until...
NOTHING
Darkness. He knew it all too well. But not this darkness. Thamuertos welcomed the cold unflinching vastness that surrounded him. His three eyes scanned the void around him for some familiarity in this strangely new void.
He looked down at his hands, relaxing from the ghostly sensation of his near infinite spectral hands floating behind him. They felt faint. Faint in a way that he couldn't feel their warm touch against his ethereal skin, but he could still feel his connection to them.
Thamuertos suddenly felt a pull at his legs, the feeling of his body plummiting through the consitant blackness surrounding his ghostly body surprising the Overseer of Souls.
Suddenly, the pull faded, and his momemtum perished instantly. Thamuertos could feel something beneath him, unlike earlier where he felt like he was floating amidst the void he grew close to.
As he stood up, his spectral from casting an eerie red glow through the thick fog that pooled around his feet, he realized that he felt ALIVE. He could still feel the sensation of his brother's glaring eyes burning through his own. Thamuertos then remembered the ferling of World's Breath piercing through his body, and nailing his rotting heart to the marble floor behind him.
Thamuertos, the God of Death, of Souls, of Forgiveness, and of the Afterlife, had died. But his brother showed him mercy. In a way.
You see, the gods of Mürvendæl had a unique nature to them. They could die, and reincarnate. All ten of them agreed on one thing, and yet still Thamuertos respected . Should any of them turn upon the others, the other gods would have the authority to decide where the offending god would be incarnated, whether it be a kindness of remaining in their home, or a punishment to be banished into another world.
However, Thamuertos felt as though the fog-laden void surrounding him wasn't all there was.
"I do hope there's more than just a void and some fog. I'd hoped you'd pick a less... boring universe to banish me to, Brother..." Thamuertos spat out louder than anticipated. Instead of silence, Thamuertos hear a nasally voice respond.
"I do hope there's more than just a void and some fog. I'd hoped you'd pick a less... boring universe to banish me to, Brother..." Mineta heard a cold, ethereal, haunting voice echo in his head, startling him from his slumber.
"W-who s-s-s-said that?" Minoru stammered, his voice quivering with fear.
He could feel his hairs stand on end, even his grape hair, the peach fuzz coating his quirk hair standing up in horror as the voice spoke once more.
"I did." Thamuertos responded, feeling the voist void around him shift and twist as he ectended his essence through the boy, now realizing he was imprisoned into the body of a boy within another universe.
In a matter of seconds Thamuertos materialized a fluxuating mass which sprouted from Mineta's back and stretched out to look into Minoru's dark purple eyes. The cinstantly shifting shape looked ghostly and translucent.
"I am Thamuertos. I am a god from another universe whom has been banished into your body. You are, in mortal terms, my vessel. I will not interfere with your life, but I will grant you some of my power to protect yourself. All I ask is that you leave me alone... and do not belittle me." After that, the shape retracted back into Mineta's back, leaving the boy alone again in his room.
Before Minoru could question Thamuertos, he could feel a warm, comforting sensation surrounding him, similar to his mom and dad hugging him. When he looked down, he spotted several ghostly red hands gently holding, grasping, and caressing his body. The hands began to gently guide Mineta back into his bed, a pair of the hands pulling his blankets and sheets to lay over his body, before joining the others in his bed, nuzzling into his small body to keep him warm.
Minoru didn't know what to think of this god, but he did know one thing...
Yuuei's Entrance Exam is going to be crazy.
