Cass closed her eyes as she bit her lip to hold back her sobs. She couldn't bear to look at him anymore. She couldn't bear to see the disappointment on Enzo's face when the bomb she dropped on him fully sank in. She couldn't bear to look into his beautiful blue eyes when he ran away.

Cass had been avoiding this conversation for as long as she could. It'd been days since she and Margot suspected she was pregnant. When Cass found out that it was true, she was more determined than ever to not tell Enzo.

Because she couldn't bear to face this. The heartbreak.

Margot wanted Cass to tell him. She wanted Cass to tell him the moment they'd had that conversation in the lavatory where they put the pieces together. But Cass refused. Enzo... Enzo could still live his life on. It was Cass who wanted to keep the baby, and she wouldn't ruin his life or his Quidditch career or any of his dreams for that. It was her decision and she would be willing to face that alone. She would stick to her plan if she needed to—get a flat in a small town and train on the side to be a healer until the baby was old enough to go to a nursery while she worked to support them. Cass wouldn't make Enzo live that life if he didn't want to. She loved him too much.

But that didn't mean that she had the courage to tell him.

Every time Cass thought about telling Enzo, she burst into tears that took an hour to stop. That's why Margot had stopped trying to get her to do it. Instead, she helped Cass avoid that conversation for as long as she could.

"For the record, I like Enzo and I don't think he'd abandon you," Margot had uttered under her breath one evening while they studied baby books. "But I love you and my little niece or nephew so if you don't want to talk to him, I'll help delay that for as long as I can."

Neither of them had stopped to think about Enzo breaking into their room while Margot was gone. Cass was admiring her stomach—it hadn't changed at all but she liked to imagine it had—in the mirror when he burst through the door and began to demand answers.

The lost look on his face when he asked if she still wanted to be with him—like she held his heart in the palm of his hands—would haunt Cass forever. Of course she wanted to be with him. She wanted to be with him for the rest of her life. But she couldn't handle it he didn't want the same things once he knew the truth: that there was a little potion inside of her. Half her, and half the man she loved.

I'll always want you. Nothing can change that. Cass wanted to believe that. She really, really wanted to believe the look in his eyes. Steadfast and calm, those blue eyes like the steady ocean waves below the cliff that he once took her to. I'm not going anywhere, sunshine.

So she told him. She muttered those three little words that changed their lives forever. "Enzo... I'm pregnant."

Now Cass held her eyes tightly shut as if her world would be okay as long as it stayed dark. For the past several days, she was either able to maintain control over her stomach or her emotions. Considering she wasn't puking her guts up, Cass knew the other one was bound to blow at any moment. She willed herself to hold back the tears, at least until he left.

Enzo sucked in a sharp breath. The hand that was on her cheek fell. "You're... you're pregnant?"

Cass nodded. "Mm-hm. The test was positive this morning." Keep your eyes closed, Cass. Just keep them closed.

"How?"

"I mean, you know." She chuckled nervously even though this situation was the furthest thing from funny. Cass supposed her wild emotions weren't only tears. "Birds and the bees."

She could almost feel Enzo roll his eyes. Or, at least, he might have if he wasn't frozen in shock. Cass hadn't felt him moved since she told him. "No, Cass. I mean how did this happen?"

Cass knew what he meant so she said, "The stomach flu. I must've thrown up my pill."

"So you're probably a little over four weeks along?"

"I haven't been to the hospital but, yes, I'd guess so," she whispered.

"This is real," Enzo breathed. "You're pregnant with my baby."

Cass didn't know why she did it—perhaps she was secretly a masochist or something—but she opened her eyes and looked at Enzo, steeling herself for the sharpness of his gaze or the hurtful words that would break her heart irrevocably.

But then he did something that surprised her.

Enzo fell to his knees in front of her with a disbelieving smile on his face. He looked at Cass's stomach and pulled up the hem of her sweatshirt before kissing her stomach eagerly. "Oh Merlin. You're pregnant with my baby!"

The smile on Enzo's face grew before he began to place dozens of quick, excited kisses all over her bare skin. Then, before Cass could even grasp what was going on, Enzo stood and wrapped her tightly in his arms. One of his arms buried itself in her hair while the other supposed her waist. With her head pressed against his chest, Cass could hear the pounding of his heart. "I can't believe it," he muttered. "We're going to be parents!"

"You're... you're not mad?"

"'Mad?'" Enzo asked with disbelief. He pulled back from their embrace and put his head against hers. Pure joy radiated out of his eyes. Though Cass didn't understand it, she couldn't deny what she was seeing. "Baby, I'm so fucking happy."

"'Happy?'" Now she was the skeptical one. Cass imagined this conversation going a lot of ways but this wasn't one of them.

Enzo kissed her, long and hard. Cass was breathless by the time he pulled away. "Sunshine, I don't think I've ever been any happier."

"But why? I don't want to get in the way of your Quidditch dreams! Your life!"

"You are my life, Cass. This is my dream." Enzo laughed at the look on her face. "I've been thinking a lot all year about what I want to do after Hogwarts. I don't think Quidditch is the answer for me anymore. I'll always love the sport but I think it's time for me to move on. I've been looking at the Department of Magical Games and Sports. The head of the department, Ludo Bagman, wants me to train underneath him. And that stuff is great but they pale in comparison to the dream that I'm holding in my arms."

"But... but you're so young, Enzo! I don't want this to derail you!"

"Ask anybody: I've wanted to marry you and have children with you ever since I met you," he said with a grin. "I know it's sooner than either of us thought it would happen but there's no doubt in my mind that this little miracle," Enzo cupped her stomach, "is a blessing."

Enzo smiled. "Plus, you're young too. I'm not running when I'm the one who put you in this position. I'm grand, Cass, truly but even if I wasn't, I'd still be right by your side the whole time."

Cass frowned. She could feel her emotions already trying to run away, though she attempted to keep them at bay. "You're not mad at me?"

"Honestly? I'm a little hurt that you kept this from me, but only because I want to be by your side supporting you. I wish I could have been there before to help you. I'm sure you were terrified." Enzo chuckled before he said, "But I don't think I could be upset with you right now even if I tried. I'm just so damn happy."

Happy. Enzo was happy. And for the first time since this whole mess started, Cass allowed herself to be happy about it too. She was going to be a mother. That was one of her dreams, and the fact that it was happening with Enzo was even better. Cass had always wanted to be a young mum—she witnessed firsthand how life was never guaranteed. Maybe this really was a dream come true.

Her lip trembled. Damn it. Her emotions were going haywire again. Her body shook in Enzo's arms as she said, "I'm terrified, Enz. How are we going to support a baby? Where are we going to live? How are we going to afford to take care of them properly and give them the time and attention they deserve? How are we going to do this?"

Enzo smiled gently, rubbing Cass's back to soothe her. Actually, his smile wasn't gentle. It was sheepish. Enzo's cheeks turned a little red before he muttered, "About that... I may have robbed my parents of tens of thousands of galleons."

"You what?!"

So Enzo told Cass about why he really went home for the holidays. He'd gone back to the Berkshire home to steal back his inheritance and split it with Aria so both siblings were taken care of for life. "I didn't want to tell Aria because I still want her to try hard and school. And I didn't want to tell you because I thought you would think I'm crazy for thinking so far ahead in the future. But now I guess it's good that I did. We can buy a nice home wherever you want and pay for a nanny for the baby. Or I can stay home if you'd rather." Enzo smiled. "Honestly, though, they'll have so many aunts and uncles dying to take care of them. I don't think we have to worry about that."

Cass felt her worries and fears fade away. Why hadn't she told Enzo earlier? They were so much better as a team. They were partners and Cass should have trusted him to prove himself rather than assuming he would flee. Enzo wasn't the fleeing type. He was loyal and so, so loving. Why had she doubted him?

"I'm sorry," Cass said as she wrapped her arms around his waist and held him tightly. "I should have told you the moment I suspected."

"I'm not mad, sunshine. I'm just so glad that I know what's going on now. I was so worried that I fucked everything up." Enzo's face flushed. "Crap! I should stop cursing. What if the baby hears it?"

Cass laughed. "Enz, the baby isn't even a bean yet. I don't think they'll grasp curse words yet."

"Still, I should stop." His eyes looked around the adjacent bedroom, scanning all of the baby books that Cass and Margot had been reading. "I'll take a class and read all of those books. I wish I could've read them with you but that doesn't matter now. What matters is that we're here together. Our little family." Enzo kissed Cass before smiling. "I'm so, so happy, sunshine. We're a family."

He was lost in thoughts for a few moments before he asked, "Do you want to get married?"

Cass felt her cheeks heat up. Did she want to get married? Of course she did. Enzo was her prince, the man of her dreams. But she didn't want to marry him purely because of the baby. She wanted to marry him because it's what he wanted. Cass shook her head. "In the future, of course. But I don't want the baby to rush things."

Enzo frowned a little bit before kissing her forehead. "Of course. The offer never expires." He thought for a little while again. "So Margot knows. Anyone else?"

"Just you and her. I would've wanted to tell you first but Margot's the one that put the pieces together before I did."

Enzo didn't seem angry anyway. "Do you want to tell anyone else?"

Cass shrugged. "Now that you know, I don't really care who else knows. I mean... they might judge me but we only have a couple months left of school anyway."

"Plus, you have a whole horde of friends who will fight for you. And one who's definitely killed at least a couple people." Enzo must have realized something because his eyes lightened. "Actually, Tom and Evelyn would probably love to help us out. Well, Evelyn would and Tom loves anything that his wife loves."

She nodded. "Well, we can tell everyone anytime." Then, she winced. There was one big piece she hadn't even thought of. "Actually, we should tell my parents first. I have no idea how that's going to go."

Enzo smiled reassuringly. His confidence was exactly what she needed right now. It soothed her emotions, just like how his presence made her feel safe and secure. Cass had a feeling she wouldn't be leaving Enzo's side for a long time. "I'm sure they'll be overjoyed. We can tell them at Easter if you think you're ready then."

Cass would never be ready but in-person was definitely ideal so she'd just have to suck it up by then. At least Enzo would be by her side. "Okay. We'll tell them at Easter."

Enzo smiled and rubbed her back again. "Everything will work out. I'm here. I'm not going to leave you and our baby... Merlin, I can't believe I'm saying that. 'Our baby.' I think they're the best words that have come out of my mouth."

Cass smiled back at him. "I love you, Enz."

"I love you too." Enzo's hand caressed her stomach. "And I love you, little one." Enzo cupped her cheek before kissing her gently. At that moment, everything felt right in the world again. They were going to be okay. Enzo was here and he wasn't leaving them. They'd do this as a team. Together.

Aw, everything's happy again hehe. Sorry this is a day late but yesterday wasn't a good Valentine's Day so I couldn't write a happy chapter lol. Hope this was worth the wait!
