Got in the Robot, now what?! 8 - Or 'Where is the fucking instructions for this big ass robot?!' (NGE, Shinji!SI)

Be Ayanami Rei.

Be a 'young girl' with the frame that could get many to question what is going on with genes, when in truth it's all about a matter of cloning gone 'different'.

Also, be a young lady that has a strange deep-rooted attraction towards someone that is quite unwilling to consider anything beyond mere acquaintancedom.

Now, Rei finds herself in a rather peculiar spot in her current life- a predicament, if she had a way to address it as such. Not only did she have personal reasons to go after this individual who was outright avoiding her, but she also had some purported reasons from NERV to actually do something to 'leash the rebellious Pilot'.

This was not easy, nor it was something that Rei felt incredibly sure she could manage as she was literally being 'ghosted' by Ikari Shinji. The boy had his own schedule, one she wasn't privy about, and the girl had no way to pry that out of his mind not even if she tried her hardest.

She thought that Asuka would have posed a threat to her standing, but not only was the German-born girl also unsuccessful in getting 'anywhere' with Shinji, but she was put on 'active duty' while 'Shinji and Rei rested for a few missions'.

This was a chance, Rei knew this much, but everytime she tried to make sense of where Shinji was, the young man would just have a 'failsafe plan' to redirect to somewhere else. Misato was equally troublesome to find assistance from, with the woman being both 'unsure' of Shinji's feelings towards Rei and now appeared outright 'opposed' to push for it.

Something happened in that front too, but Rei was, once more, blindsided as she had no clue on what had happened there too.

Days went by, Rei was unable to find a way 'in' to approach Shinji, but... the worst part was that something told her Shinji was actually hooking up with someone. Not intimately and not Maya as the woman was busy, no... it was someone else. And it was someone that was not among those she could notice.

Part of her wanted to notify Gendo and just see who had put her claws on Shinji, but as Rei mulled over it, it became clear that such a process would have done her more harm than good. If Shinji was in any shape or form put on high alert, then any chance of finding out who he was interacting with would vanish from their hands.

Thus Rei shifted her focus on finding out who Shinji was spending time with. It was equally difficult to just trying to approach him, but by merely tailing him, Rei ultimately seemed to find more on who was behind this sort of situation. A girl for sure, but not one from school- where did Shinji got to meet this one?

Blonde/almost white hair, red eyes, and a strangely familiar visage. Rei was unsure on what was going on as it felt like a date between those two... and yet not.

They would be hanging out randomly, with no prior commitment from the looks of it and... have a nice time together. Three days went by and, in those hours of socialization, Shinji seemed to shed some of his shell. It was unnatural for a time, but it became obvious to Rei this was how her target would just 'drop his guard'. He was comfortable.

He was happy.

Now, this was unacceptable as, by all means, she should have been the one to attain such a privilege. The sweat and labor put in this effort all seemed to not yield this. Was it something she did wrong in regard to her lifestyle? The way the 'blonde' dressed felt akin to a hobo- someone that had no home and was thus unable to pick the right outfits due to how limited her choice truly was.

She was tidy, there was no doubt from Rei, but it was still evident she had nothing much to her name. One of those civilians that truly 'lost everything'? It was rare to find them in the capital since many would just depart for the safer and less worrisome countryside.

Rei kept on studying this situation for a full week, but then, by growing careless, she... was sure that someone mugged her. At least, that's what it felt as she was struck in the head from behind as she was done with one of her 'studies' over Shinji's 'dates'.

Worries amounted to potential rape, maybe something even worse as she woke up but... she was still dressed, and she reported no injury from the blow on the head. Maybe she just passed out due to stress? Rei wasn't sure if this was the case, or if maybe there was something else tied to it.

In the specific, she was sure that the next few days her means to track them down had decreased significantly. Nothing from previous days had let her be caught up by these two, but they seemed to be aware when she was near and move away with haste to dodge her approach.

How?

Rei contemplated this as two more weeks went by, and then, much to her immense chagrin, she was told that the next week would be the day that both her and Shinji would resume their active duty. Asuka faced two Angels, barely killing those, but successfully exceeding expectations. This much Rei could deduce from the way she bragged about it at school and from reports Gendo gave her to study.

However, while part of her thought Shinji would have been in a foul mood in the way he was to return to his work, something about his behavior in the last few days made her perplexed. He looked 'amused' about something. He looked giddy.

For a time, she thought it was connected to the 'girlfriend' he made as of recently, but as the proper 'in-depth' medical checkup came along for that month, Rei found out something that made this 'silly' situation somewhat scary. Ritsuko was particularly pale in her face as she was done verifying and 'removing' something from Rei's body.

A small circular item. It was black, it was electronic- it was a tracker. Someone had put a tracker on her, and it wasn't any of those employed by NERV.

This... this was bad.

"You know, when I said that you should offer something for our oath, I had expected something less... intimate."

My voice trailed a bit at the last part of that comment. It was afternoon, the abandoned that Runako used as a home was indeed dark and quite untouched by NERV and... I was still dressing up to make it back home to avoid any worries but-

"You think so?" Runako asked, sounding surprised as she was bottomless, wearing an orange half-sleeved shirt, and putting on a rubber band to tie her hair. "I thought we were agreeing to a life-altering and world-changing deal."

"Yes, but... let's just say that first-time sex is... a step-up from my expectations."

"Would a kiss have worked?" The girl asked quietly, finally putting on panties and allowing me to stare at her properly. "After all, we kissed a lot before that and it felt like it was too easy."

"Wasn't sex easy too?" I pressed back, causing her to actually go quiet for a moment and I thought I got her.

"Maybe. I mean, you are an attractive boy that has a goal I can respect, share and support," Runako admitted, a little pink hue forming on her cheek. "Although, I believe that it was easy because we are close deep down. Your mother is an Evangelion."

"...And you are an angel."

Fucking the genderswap version of Nagisa Kaworu had not been part of my plans, but it was something that tied me with her and allowed me to have a reliable assistant for the huge big-brained plan I had to get out of this troublesome situation of a world we call 'Earth'.

"True, which is why it's very peculiar that someone like me was able to be compatible with someone like you," Runako remarked with a nod, finishing combing her hair and putting on some baggy pants. "Then again, we are bound as fate-breakers. You and I, together in getting out of our confines."

She smiled, and I smiled back.

I think I fell in love. And this fool of an angel is going to help me complete the plan way faster than I had initially predicted.

Next time... the 'Endgame'! And then an Epilogue to complete this short NGE story.

The plan will be made evident through a non-MC's POV and the results will be hilarious for those left behind. Especially when they realized that Shinji will 'do exactly what Gendo had promised to do to the people, except in a safer and more rationalized manner'.
