Chapter 11: Secret Origins Part 2
Hey everyone! I'm back with a new chapter—the second chapter of an exciting three-part event in Spectacular Spider-Men! I want to thank Cloud4012 and Kival737101 for letting me use their OC characters. I don't own anything except my own OC. Anyway, sit back, relax, review, and enjoy!
We find ourselves in New York, where citizens were doing everything they could to hide and stay safe.
At OSCORP, many had taken refuge, seeking safety within its walls. Near a television, Norman and Harry were watching live footage of the ongoing invasion.
"Dad, what the heck is going on?" Harry asked.
"Isn't it obvious, Harry? It's an invasion. It's only a matter of time before their forces make their way here," Norman replied.
"Harry!"
Turning around, they saw Gwen, Eddie, and Maya rushing in.
"Have you seen Jaden?" Gwen asked urgently.
"He's not with you two?" Harry responded, confused.
"No, he had to leave for a job interview," Gwen said.
"Right before all this chaos started, he mentioned spending the night with a friend. We thought it might be you," Maya added.
"I haven't seen Jaden since school," Harry said, his response making the group grow more anxious.
"Oh no, this isn't good," Eddie muttered, worried.
"Wait, Jaden is out there in the middle of all that chaos, and none of you know where he is?" Norman asked as Liz overheard their conversation.
"I've been calling him, but it keeps going straight to voicemail," Gwen said, her worry evident as Maya began to panic.
"It's already so hard without my husband… I don't know how I'll survive without Jaden," Maya said, her voice breaking as she struggled to hold back tears.
"I'm sure he's fine, Mrs. Cooper," Eddie said, trying to reassure her.
"Yeah, Jaden's probably found a safe place to hide," Harry agreed.
"Don't worry, Maya. Your son is a smart boy. He'll be okay. Once this clears up, I can easily have all of OSCORP search for him," Norman added confidently.
"I hope you're right," Maya said softly as Liz walked over, concern written on her face.
"Jaden's missing?" Liz asked, surprised.
"He left the lab for a job interview right before all this madness started," Gwen explained, causing Liz to gasp.
"Come on, Jaden. Don't you even think about dying out there," Eddie said, gazing out the window at the chaotic city below.
Meanwhile, at the FEAST Center, everyone gathered in the main hall, watching live footage of the invasion on a television screen. Anxiety hung heavy in the air as people murmured nervously, trying to make sense of what was happening.
Sam Evans, Jake's mother, stood off to the side, frantically trying to call her son. Each attempt went straight to voicemail.
"Come on, Jake, answer your phone," Sam muttered under her breath, her worry growing with each unanswered call.
Across the room, Mr. Lee was moving between groups of people, doing his best to keep everyone calm.
"Please, everyone, stay together. We are safe here. Help will come soon," Mr. Lee assured them, his voice steady but kind.
Among the crowd, Mia sat near the back, clutching her phone tightly in her hands. Her face betrayed her worry, but she avoided making eye contact with anyone. She knew the truth—Jake wasn't missing or hiding like the others thought. He was out there, in the thick of the chaos, doing what only he could do. But she couldn't tell anyone.
"Where's Jake?" Sam asked, approaching Mia with a mixture of concern and desperation in her eyes.
Mia hesitated for a moment, glancing at Sam before looking down at her hands. "He... he had to run an errand. He said he'd be back before everything happened, but maybe he got caught up somewhere," she said, her voice wavering slightly.
"An errand? During this? Why didn't he come straight here with you?" Sam pressed, her voice tinged with frustration.
"I don't know, Mrs. Evans," Mia replied, avoiding her gaze. "But Jake's smart. He'll be okay. You know how he is—he always finds a way."
Sam sighed heavily, her concern evident. "I just… I can't lose him too, Mia." Her voice cracked, and she quickly wiped away a tear.
Mia's chest tightened. She wanted to tell Sam the truth, to reassure her that Jake was out there doing something incredible, but she couldn't risk it. Instead, she placed a comforting hand on Sam's shoulder.
"You won't lose him, Mrs. Evans. He'll come back. I'm sure of it," Mia said, forcing as much conviction into her words as she could muster.
From across the room, Mr. Lee caught sight of their worried expressions and approached. "Sam, Mia, let's all take a deep breath. Jake's a bright young man. He's probably found somewhere safe," he said gently.
Sam nodded reluctantly, though her worry remained etched across her face. Mia forced a small smile, but inside, her heart pounded as she glanced toward the television screen, knowing Jake was likely out there risking everything to protect the city.
Back in the mountain range, loud explosions and strange, echoing noises filled the air.
"That does not sound good," Spider-Man quipped as they all turned to see dark clouds gathering ominously over the horizon. In the distance, multiple strange factories spewed thick smoke into the sky.
"What are they doing?" Skyblade asked, her wings twitching in apprehension.
"The invaders are nocturnal," Kar'Dax explained. "They're trying to block out the sun, creating an eternal night so they can thrive in darkness."
"Friends of yours?" Blue Speed asked, glancing toward Blackbird with a raised eyebrow.
"This isn't a joke," Blackbird replied curtly, his sharp gaze fixed on the factories.
"Yeah, definitely not funny," Spider-Man said, crossing his arms. "But let's be real—these guys aren't winning any awards for originality. Eternal darkness? Been there, fought that."
"Like you could come up with something better," Blue Speed challenged with a smirk.
"Any day, Blue," Spider-Man shot back.
Shadow Spider chimed in, leaning casually against a nearby rock. "Focus, you two. If we're making quips, let's save them for the invaders, not each other."
"Thank you, Shadow Spider," Astraia said, her tone stern but appreciative.
Blue Speed turned to Kar'Dax, trying to mask his unease. "So what's Plan B? Can't you just whip up another knockout gas?"
"Unfortunately, no," Lira said regretfully. "The gas was synthesized from a rare plant on Mars. The last sample we had was destroyed when we arrived."
"Great," Blue Speed muttered. "So… anyone else got a Plan B?"
"We need to destroy those factories," Astraia said firmly.
"Lady, this is no place for amateurs," Solara countered, crossing his arms with a skeptical expression.
Astraia stepped closer, her voice steely. "We Amazons are proud warriors. Want to test me?"
"Whoa, whoa!" Spider-Man stepped between them, holding up his hands. "Let's dial it back. We're all on the same side here. Save the sparring for the bad guys."
"Agreed," Star Nova said, his commanding voice cutting through the tension. "Solara, we need all the help we can get."
Solara sighed and rolled his eyes. "Fine."
"Tactically, we have multiple objectives," Blackbird said. "Splitting into teams is our best option."
"Dibs on the Amazon," Blue Speed said with a grin, zipping toward Astraia.
Shadow Spider and Spider-Man exchanged amused glances. "Smooth," Shadow Spider muttered under his breath.
Spider-Man chuckled, shaking his head. "Guess I'm sticking with you, partner," he said to Shadow Spider, shooting a web at a nearby ledge to get a better view of the factories.
"Works for me," Shadow Spider replied with a smirk. "Let's show these guys what real teamwork looks like."

In the end, Blue Speed was running across the sea, with Solara and Limelight flying alongside him.
"You are no fun!" Blue Speed yelled.
"It was fun for me, seeing the look on your face," Limelight giggled.
"This isn't supposed to be fun," Solara said, his tone stern. "We have a job to do, and we can't do it with distractions. Understood?"
"Yes, sir," Limelight sighed.
"Whatever," Blue Speed muttered.
After a moment, Limelight glanced toward Solara. "Hey, Solara, I noticed you glaring at Spider-Man and Shadow Spider earlier. What's the deal?"
Solara frowned. "I've heard a lot of bad things about those two. Words like *vigilantes* and *menaces* keep popping up. Whenever they try to be heroes, things tend to get destroyed."
"Yikes," Limelight cringed. "Sounds like they've got some growing up to do."
"Exactly," Solara said firmly. "This isn't about stopping common criminals. This is an extinction-level threat. We don't have time to babysit."
Blue Speed groaned, his frustration bubbling over. "Thank you! Who thought it was a good idea to bring *two kids* on this mission? Spider-Man and Shadow Spider have no business being here."
Limelight raised an eyebrow. "They've held their own so far, haven't they?"
"That doesn't matter," Blue Speed snapped. "They're still kids. This is life-or-death, not some junior hero training exercise."
"Im still learning, too," Limelight pointed out. "And Solara didn't seem to have a problem bringing *me * into this."
"You're different," Solara said. "You've got experience with these kinds of situations."
"No one's a star hero right out of the gate," Limelight countered.
"Speak for yourselves—I was," Blue Speed said smugly, only for both Solara and Limelight to glare at him.
"Really?" Limelight asked dryly. "Because from what I hear, you were a total train wreck when Solara started training you."
Solara smirked. "She's not wrong."
Blue Speed groaned in exasperation. "Ugh. Maybe I should've stuck with speedy."
As they approached the island, they spotted several Imperium Walkers patrolling a factory.
"There's our target," Solara said, narrowing his eyes.
"Alright, what's the plan?" Limelight asked.
"Who needs a plan?" Blue Speed said, already sprinting toward the walkers. "Let's just take 'em out and be done with it!"
"What an idiot," Limelight muttered, rolling her eyes as Solara groaned.
Blue Speed whistled as he approached the walkers. "Hey, over here!" he called out, zigzagging to draw their attention.
The walkers immediately fired beams at him, but he dodged effortlessly. "Ha! Missed!"
However, as he zipped around, Blue Speed inadvertently stepped on a hidden landmine, triggering a trap that encased him in a slimy, sticky substance.
Struggling to free himself, he gasped, "Uh, guys? This isn't good!"
"Fool," Solara growled.
As the walkers prepared to blast Blue Speed, Limelight created a shimmering barrier around him, deflecting the beams, while Solara shot a powerful energy blast that severed a walker's leg, sending it crashing to the ground.
"Okay, so there was a *tiny* flaw in my plan," Blue Speed admitted sheepishly.
"Ya think?" Limelight snapped, glaring at him.
Solara exhaled sharply. "I hope the others, are having better luck than us."
In Egypt, a factory and several Walkers were roaming near the Sphinx and pyramids. Blackbird poked his head out from behind some ruins with Astraia, Spider-Man, Shadow Spider, and Lira close behind him.
"Hiding like cowards is not the Amazon way," Astraia said firmly, adjusting her grip on her lasso.
"They must have a weakness. When we find it, we'll strike," Blackbird said, scanning the terrain.
Spider-Man stood a little farther back, his attention caught by the pyramids. "I've always wanted to see the pyramids. Wish it were under better circumstances, though."
"Uh, Earth to Spider-Man," Lira said, crossing her arms. "We have a mission. Maybe focus?"
"Relax," Spider-Man replied, motioning toward the pyramids. "Just take a minute to look where we are. I mean, it's not every day you get to fight alien robots in front of ancient world wonders."
Shadow Spider smirked and leaned against a broken column. "He's got a point. I mean, if we're going to fight for our lives, might as well do it somewhere with good scenery. Beats fighting on a random rooftop in Emporium City."
"You're both impossible," Astraia said, shaking her head.
"You mean impossibly charming," Shadow Spider quipped.
"No, just impossible," Astraia said with a faint smirk.
"Come on, guys!" Spider-Man threw his hands up. "The pyramids! One of the Seven Wonders of the World. Aren't you at least a little impressed?"
"Not when the end of the world is a possibility," Blackbird replied sharply, keeping his eyes on the Walkers.
"See, that's the problem," Shadow Spider said, gesturing dramatically. "You need to lighten up, Blackbird. Like, I know you've got that whole brooding thing down, but you're not even going to appreciate the backdrop? No Instagram moment? No little selfie with the Sphinx?"
"Shadow Spider, we're in the middle of a battlefield," Blackbird said flatly.
"Exactly!" Shadow Spider exclaimed. "That's what makes it cool. 'Just me, my best friend, and a bunch of killer robots at the pyramids. #EpicFightDay.'"
Spider-Man laughed. "Finally, someone who gets it. See, Bird-Man? He gets it."
Shadow Spider grinned. "If we survive, I'm calling dibs on a photo shoot. Spandex in front of the pyramids? That's an album cover waiting to happen."
Blackbird sighed but said nothing.
"Isn't that all the more reason to appreciate it?" Spider-Man pressed. "If we might never see it again, I'd like to have at least one pleasant memory. Something worth holding onto."
The group fell silent for a moment. Taking Spider-Man's words to heart, they glanced up at the majestic pyramids, their awe visible even in the tense atmosphere.
"Am I interrupting?" Kar'Dax said, appearing from the shadows.
"What did you find?" Blackbird asked, his tone shifting back to business.
"I searched every wall. There are no openings," Kar'Dax reported.
"Then we make our own," Astraia declared, launching herself toward the factory.
"Stop, don't go alone—" Spider-Man began, only for Blackbird to place a hand on his shoulder.
"Wait. Let's see what she can do," Blackbird said.
Astraia dodged incoming fire with ease, taking out her lasso and wrapping it around one Walker's leg. She flew in a wide circle, tying it up just like Spider-Man had done in Emporium City.
"Hey, that's my move!" Spider-Man exclaimed, pointing dramatically.
"Hera, give me strength," Astraia muttered, yanking with all her might. The Walker toppled into the factory wall, creating a large hole. "There's your opening."
"Not bad," Blackbird admitted.
"Oh, come on!" Spider-Man groaned. "I did the same thing, and I didn't even get a nod!"
Shadow Spider laughed loudly. "Maybe it's because she didn't narrate it like she was in a comic book. 'Behold, the Web of Justice!'"
Spider-Man crossed his arms. "That's not what I sound like."
Shadow Spider mimicked his voice. "'Oh no! A bad guy! Time to swing into action!'"
"Hey, not everyone can be a knock-off ninja with spider powers," Spider-Man shot back.
"Not a knock-off," Shadow Spider replied smoothly. "An upgrade."
As Blackbird and Kar'Dax headed inside with Astraia, Lira floated by Spider-Man, giggling. "Come on, you two. We've got work to do."
"Man, what's a spider gotta do to get some respect?" Spider-Man muttered.
"Be less annoying?" Shadow Spider suggested, grinning.
Inside the factory, Astraia was already deflecting enemy fire, forcing the attackers to retreat.
As they ran, Spider-Man and Blackbird noticed one Walker making an unusual effort to avoid a sunbeam shining into the factory.
"They run like cowards. What are you waiting for?" Astraia demanded as Kar'Dax and Lira followed her deeper inside.
"Did you see that?" Blackbird asked, turning to Spider-Man and Shadow Spider.
"Something's off," Spider-Man said, narrowing his eyes.
"How so?" Blackbird pressed.
"Remember the base? They attacked us relentlessly there, but here we're on their turf," Spider-Man explained.
"So why are they running?" Blackbird asked, suspicion growing. "Something's not right."
Shadow Spider rubbed his chin. "Maybe they're allergic to sunlight. Like vampires. Except way uglier."
"Vampires that shoot lasers?" Spider-Man added. "Cool concept. Bad execution."
"Focus," Blackbird said sharply.
"Listen," Spider-Man continued, "I've got this thing—are Spider-Sense's. It alerts us to danger, and right now, it's going off like crazy."
"It does, huh?" Blackbird said, clearly intrigued. "You two might be useful after all."
"See? He can give a compliment!" Shadow Spider said, nudging Spider-Man. "Write that down. Frame it."
Spider-Man grinned. "Oh, I will."
Together, they followed the others deeper into the factory.
Finally, in Emporium City, the two heavy hitters, Star Nova and Skyblade, were dismantling the Walkers as if they were nothing.
As Star Nova ripped a leg off one of the machines, he hurled it at the factory, creating a massive hole in the structure.
"Skyblade, follow me!" Star Nova called as they flew into the factory.
Landing inside, both heroes stood ready and alert.
"Keep a sharp eye," Star Nova said, scanning the dimly lit interior.
"I always do," Skyblade replied, gripping her mace tightly.
As they advanced further inside, several aliens opened fire on them.
"Get back, I'll—" Star Nova began, but before he could finish, Skyblade darted forward, smashing the attackers to pieces with her mace.
One of the aliens flew backward, splattering against the wall in a gooey mess just as Star Nova ducked.
"Whoa," Star Nova muttered, momentarily taken aback by her ferocity.
"What?" Skyblade asked, smirking. "There's a time for words, and there's a time for action."
Back with Blue Speed and the Lanterns, the two were finally getting the last of the goo off him.
"Of all the idiotic, reckless, glory-hogging stunts," Solara muttered, listing off complaints.
"How do you even put up with this guy?" Blue Speed asked, glancing at Limelight.
"He's tough but fair," Limelight replied, rolling her eyes.
"Haven't you heard of teamwork?" Solara asked sternly, just as a laser narrowly missed them.
"Can we save the lecture for later?" Blue Speed said, finally breaking free from the last sticky bit of goo.
Flying up, Solara used his ring to create a barrier to block the incoming fire. Suddenly, a bomb dropped onto the barrier, releasing a yellow gas that quickly engulfed him.
"Solara!" Limelight gasped in alarm.
Acting fast, she extended her ring's energy, creating a giant windmill to blow away the gas. As the air cleared, they saw Solara on the ground, unconscious.
"Solara's been hit with some kind of knockout gas," Blue Speed said, noticing the Walkers closing in on them. "I'm calling a tactical retreat."
"Fine by me," Limelight agreed as they grabbed Solara and made a quick escape, moving as fast as possible to avoid the advancing enemies.
Back in Emporium City, Star Nova and Skyblade were cautiously walking through the factory.
"They're close by. I can almost smell them," Skyblade said, gripping her mace tightly, her eyes scanning the shadows.
"Are you always this eager to fight?" Star Nova asked, keeping his stance calm yet ready.
"My home, Thanagar, is a war-like world. There, one must strike first or die," Skyblade replied just as a laser fired, narrowly missing them.
Turning quickly, Skyblade spotted a group of invaders fleeing down the hall before sealing a door behind them to block pursuit.
Skyblade and Star Nova rushed toward the door, but before they could reach it, the door behind them slammed shut as well.
"What's going on?" Star Nova said, his voice tense.
Before they could act further, yellow gas began to fill the room. Skyblade coughed violently, her body weakening as she collapsed to the ground.
"Hang on, Skyblade!" Star Nova shouted, rushing to break down the door. But as soon as he touched it, an electrical shock surged through him, momentarily stunning him.
The gas quickly overtook the room, and despite his best efforts, Star Nova succumbed to the fumes, collapsing beside Skyblade as unconsciousness took hold.
"In Cairo, Astraia deflected laser fire with her bracers as Lira used her telepathy to hurl aliens into the walls.
"They've cut us off again!" Astraia growled, blocking another barrage of blasts.
"It's almost like they're reading our minds," Blackbird observed, tossing a birdarang that exploded on impact, scattering the invaders.
Swinging down from above, Spider-Man blocked both paths ahead with webbing. "Either that, or they're just really good at playing keep-away."
Shadow Spider appeared from thin air, uncloaking as he dropped from the ceiling and landed beside Spider-Man. "Hey, maybe they're just big fans of making us run in circles. Can't blame them; we're pretty entertaining."
"Kar'Dax, what do we do?" Spider-Man turned toward the Martian, only to notice his glowing eyes. "Uh, hello? Earth to Kar'Dax!"
"Skyblade and Star Nova are down," Kar'Dax declared grimly. "They have failed."
"What?" Astraia gasped, lowering her shield slightly.
"A-Are you sure? Like, really, really sure?" Spider-Man asked, his nervous energy slipping into his voice.
"He's not lying. I sense it too," Lira confirmed, her voice heavy with dread.
"This way. Hurry," Kar'Dax urged, leading them down a corridor as the door sealed shut behind them.
As they ascended to the upper levels, the invaders pursued them relentlessly.
"We could really use some webbing right about now," Lira said, glancing over her shoulder.
"Ask and you shall receive!" Shadow Spider fired a line of webbing across the corridor, creating a tripwire that sent several aliens tumbling. "Compliments of your friendly neighborhood stealth guy!"
Spider-Man turned and added another layer of webbing to block the path entirely. "Boom! Double trouble. Let's see them get through that."
"For now," Blackbird muttered, sliding an electrified knuckle onto his hand.
Shadow Spider grinned. "Whoa, that thing's sparky. Remind me to stay on your good side."
"Smartest choice you'll make," Blackbird replied, his tone dry.
"Hey! That's my line!" Spider-Man protested.
"Too slow, Jay," Shadow Spider quipped, giving him a playful shove.
"Look," Kar'Dax interrupted, pointing ahead. "It's the Central Core."
The group stared at the glowing structure, where dozens of aliens worked tirelessly around it.
"How do we shut it down?" Blackbird asked.
"Right there." Lira pointed to a glowing object embedded in the core's center. "If we remove the Ion Matrix Crystal, we can disable the entire factory."
"I'll need a diversion," Kar'Dax said.
"Say no more!" Blackbird threw a birdarang, slicing a pipe in half and sending a cloud of smoke pouring over the aliens.
Astraia and Spider-Man ripped down more pipes, thickening the haze. Shadow Spider, now invisible, darted ahead.
Recloaking mid-air, Shadow Spider hurled webs that snared a group of aliens. "Surprise! You've been webbed by the best in the biz!" He flipped, landing gracefully next to Spider-Man.
"Excuse me?" Spider-Man said, pretending to be offended.
"Fine, second best. Happy?" Shadow Spider smirked.
As the team caused chaos, Kar'Dax phased through the floor and reappeared near the core. He dispatched the alien guarding it with a swift strike, sending it sprawling. With one final effort, Kar'Dax extracted the Ion Matrix Crystal.
But before he could escape, a stray laser struck him, sending him crashing to the floor. The crystal slipped from his grasp.
"Kar'Dax!" Lira screamed, her voice trembling.
The invaders swarmed him, but Lira's eyes glowed fiercely. She extended her arms, telekinetically lifting the aliens and slamming them into the walls. "Stay away from him!" she roared.
"Get him out! Now!" Blackbird barked as Astraia and Lira rushed to Kar'Dax, dragging him away.
Blackbird fired a grappling hook to secure the Ion Matrix Crystal. Spider-Man added a webline, and Shadow Spider reinforced it with another.
"This teamwork thing? Totally killing it," Shadow Spider remarked, grinning.
However, just as the trio attempted to escape, the door slammed shut behind Astraia and Lira, trapping them inside with the advancing aliens.
"Oh, this just keeps getting better," Shadow Spider muttered, activating his invisibility to scout the incoming threat.
The aliens began aiming their weapons. Shadow Spider reappeared next to Spider-Man. "Good news, there are fewer of them than I expected. Bad news, there's still a lot."
"Blackbird, Shadow Spider, I've got something to admit," Spider-Man said nervously. "I'm scared."
"That's good," Blackbird said, his voice calm. "Fear means you know your limits. Now you can surpass them."
"But what if we lose? What if I never see my mom again?" Spider-Man asked, his voice cracking slightly.
"Then fight. Fight with everything you have to make sure you do." Blackbird set the Ion Matrix Crystal on the ground and raised his fists.
Shadow Spider clapped Spider-Man on the back. "Hey, listen up, partner. If there's one thing I know, it's that we're too stubborn to lose. And if we do? Well, at least we'll go down swinging and quipping."
"Great pep talk," Spider-Man muttered, rolling his eyes.
Shadow Spider raised his hands, crackling with electric energy. "Now, let's light this place up!" He unleashed a Venom Blast, sending a shockwave that stunned a group of advancing aliens.
Spider-Man joined the fray, flipping and webbing aliens left and right. "Tag team, baby! Let's show them what Earth's finest can do!"
The three heroes braced for the next wave, united in their resolve.
