Episode 22: The Spirits Living In Us
SPD Academy (End of 2016)
It was a rainy morning, so Mike decided to take his class inside, in Jake's gym. After seeing the Overdrive Rangers, Mike made the choice to teach the kids how to use the blaster-sabers and learn a little bit more about the Overdrive weapons.
"Very well, class. As you can see, your blasters are replicas of the Overdrive Rangers' blasters. They are treasure hunters and protectors of the right, and their weapons are incredibly advanced," said Mike, showing them the blaster he was carrying. "Now this one has a special feature."
He waited until his students were focused before turning his blaster into a saber. The kids looked amazed as Mike played with the blaster-saber, as if it was his sword. Soon he smiled at the young cadets. "Impressive, huh? Now get your blasters, put them away from your face, Clark."
The cadet, scared, did what he was told. Then Mike showed them one more time how the blaster turned into a saber. Soon all the cadets were using sabers. Some of them were changing them back and forth, trying to decipher the technology behind the saber, and some others were already sparring. Mike chuckled, cadets or not, they were still kids.
"Alright, kids, put your sabers back in blaster mode and leave them on the ground. There is more I need to show you," said Mike, walking towards a nearby table that he brought for the cadets. "These are the Overdrive Unique weapons, precise in both treasure hunting and saving the world."
"Sensei, do you know how to use them all?" asked one of the cadets, and Mike laughed. "Not as well as they do, but I had my practice run, and for the ones that are going for the 'Overdrive Course,' you will be using them, so pay attention."
One by one, Mike explained the use of the weapons to the cadets, using RoboKnight as an example to try them all. The robot, apart from being the guardian of the kids, also helped in class, mostly with him and Jake, while Rico went more with Conner and Alpha-5 remained with Cruger and Kat, managing the paperwork and the meetings that didn't need Jake there.
The kids were impressed. Mike could see they were getting excited, especially the ones in the 'Overdrive Course.' Andrew Hartford, who decided to stay after the attack at his mansion, was happy to have a mini version of his Rangers running around soon. He smiled softly. Both Andrew and Clare had decided that helping here was important for the peace of the Universe, and both were invested in teaching the kids all they knew about life and magic.
They made a curious team, Mike had to admit, but their dynamic was good and the kids loved them both. He continued to show the weapons to the kids when a faint glow caught his attention. It was something he had recognized in the time he had been here, and he looked towards the door, where he could see one of the Pai Zhua masters.
Curious, Mike made a gesture to RoboKnight to continue with the class while he opened the door of the gym, away from the kids' curious looks, to talk with the Pai Zhua master.
"Is something wrong?" asked Mike, and the Pai Zhua master nodded. "I've been trying to contact our people, but I can't reach them, and not even the animal spirits can reach them. I thought maybe this was another attack."
"It is possible. Let me tell RoboKnight so he can finish the class, and I'll let Jake and Conner know," said Mike, putting a hand on the man's shoulder. "Don't worry, whatever it is, we will take care of it."
"I know, Sensei, thank you."
Mike nodded, returning to class with the Pai Zhua master. There had been a brief moment of peace since the attack at the Hartford mansion, but those moments were over. It was time to fight again.

SPD Academy – Command Center (End of 2016)
Jake was already there, sitting in the middle of the Command Center by the time Mike appeared. Conner was standing behind him, a protective presence. When Mike took his stance beside him, Conner gave him a nod.
"What is going on?" asked Mike.
"Jake is trying to reach other spirits. He says he can feel them briefly, but he is sure there is no interference. Someone has attacked them," explained Conner.
Not far from them, Cruger and Kat were watching Jake with fascination. They had never seen a power like this, but they could feel the white and black waves coming in and out of Jake, as if he was only the receiver and sender of the information. When he opened his eyes, they were golden and his skin had the same marks as a snake. He smiled.
"Do not worry, this is just my animal spirits channeling their energy," said Jake, taking a deep breath to return to normal. He looked at Cruger and Kat, and a moment later, from his hand, a spirit black snake appeared, moving slowly towards Anubis. Extending his other hand, Jake allowed Bastro to present himself.
"Interesting creatures…" said the Snake, looking back at Jake. "They seem surprised but not scared of me."
"I'm pretty sure they don't know what you are," said Conner, and the snake moved, going up around Conner. "Careful with what you say, Tyranno. I am ferocious." Conner laughed and petted him, while Bastro sat beside Mike. The Samurai Ranger was scratching him behind the ears, and Bastro looked at peace. "It is an honor to meet you, Commander and Kat Manx. I'm Bastro, the white lion spirit in Jake, and that's Jake's black snake that he received from his Megaforce powers."
Kat took a step forward, amazed. "Are they talking?" Jake nodded, looking at the snake playing with Conner while Bastro remained by Mike's side. "They can talk, sometimes too loud." Both animals looked at him, but Jake flashed them a smile and continued. "They are the source of my power and my friends. The way I channel them comes from my teaching with the Jungle Fury Rangers."
"Impressive. You Rangers are something else," admitted Cruger as both the snake and Bastro moved away from Conner and Mike to present their respects to Cruger and Kat, allowing the two allies to put a hand on their heads as a signal of friendship.
"You know, some power like that could be useful for us too," said Conner, thinking, and Jake nodded. "I can give you a quick class. After all, you already had a taste of it when you got Bennu and the Wolf, and I'm pretty sure we will need it when we reach the Dojo."
Jake instructed Conner and Mike to sit in front of him, and then he closed his eyes, connecting his hands to them. "Take a deep breath. You already know you need to reach your animals. In your case, Conner, you need to see clearly the Tyranno, your Triassic, and of course, Bennu. In your case, Mike, you need to see the Bear and the Wolf."
Both Rangers did what they were told, and closing their eyes, they called for their animals. For Conner, it didn't take long to feel the strong presence of his Tyranno over him. The dinosaur dropped his head down, and still with his eyes closed, Jake noticed Conner petting the air beside him, a clear indication something was there. Then, Conner moved, and Jake chuckled when he almost fell. He extended his other hand, and finally, Conner moved his head up.
Then Jake looked at Mike, who was trying not to laugh as he felt someone all over him and then another calmer presence by his side. Jake saw Mike extending his hand to touch the invisible animal before he nodded to himself. They were ready.
"Now, you are fully connected to them," said Jake. "You are one. You are to them the light to keep the Universe safe, and in return, they are the power you need to fight. This representation is only a way to strengthen the bond that you already have with them."
"Is that true?" asked Conner, opening his eyes to see a smaller-sized Tyranno and the Triassic on each side of him. They nodded at him solemnly, and Conner smiled, petting both of them as Bennu placed a head on his shoulder. "I see… thank you for your trust. I won't let you down."
Jake looked then at Mike. The Bear was licking his cheek, clearly excited to see his owner, while the Wolf looked at them, rolling his eyes but also allowing Mike to pet him as if he weren't one of the fiercest animals in the Universe.
"Alright, I got it, Bear," said Mike, laughing and then looking at them. "You both are part of my soul, and I'm part of yours."
Jake smiled as his own spirits came to him and surrounded him when the door opened, and the three Pai Zhua masters looked at the scene in front of them, pleased with the amount of well-controlled spirits in front of them and the power they could see.
"Jacob, it seems you are ready," said one of the Masters.
"We are," said Jake, looking at Cruger and Kat. "Take care of the kids, alright?"
"We will," promised Kat.
"Be careful out there."
Jake nodded, and then he looked at Alpha-5, who ran towards his computer and activated the teleportation. One moment later, the Rangers and the spirits were gone, directly to the next battle. It was time to show the power of the Jungle.

SPD Academy (2025) – Meeting Room
Casey was beaming with pride as he watched Jake give his quick class to the other Rangers. As his mentors, they always tried to make Jake understand the importance of the connection with their spirits, and it seems he understood everything perfectly as he managed to guide Conner and Mike into awakening their spirits in the same way he did.
"I'm going to assume you can do this too?" asked Dominic, looking at the SPD Rangers. Jack nodded. "Of course."
"Show them," said Cruger with a smile. "After all, these are the Rangers that taught Jake how to call for his spirits. They may know why some of you have quite unique animals with you."
Bridge, Sky, and Syd looked away, blushing, and Cruger chuckled but then directed his attention to the Jungle Fury. "Kat Manx and I don't have spirit animals, as we both have an alien ancestry of animals, but we have this."
Cruger closed his eyes and extended his hand while Kat walked to his side and did the same. Suddenly, the images of the people fallen in Sirius appeared around them, with Sirius' wife in the front. "These spirits give us strength, and as our people, they are with us and help us in battle if needed, in addition, I can turn myself into an animal, an ancestral power of my people that only Emperors learn to control."
Cruger then looked at Jack, and the Red SPD Ranger closed his eyes. From his arms, a faint red glow appeared, and a moment later, a panther stood beside him. The panther presented itself to the Rangers while Jack petted him.
"This is my panther," said Jack, smiling proudly. "As Mentor Jake said, a panther is a reflection of my years on the streets, learning to live alone before I met Z and the rest of my friends. Jake believed that the panther is an expression of courage and honesty."
"Very you," said Z, and Jack chuckled before she extended her hand. A faint yellow glow surrounded her as a falcon flew around the room and landed on Z's shoulder. Z smiled at it, petting the animal as she looked at the Rangers. "Commander Jake always said I was free as a falcon, so he was not surprised when I came up with this little baby. He said I had a vision that not many people had and that it helped the team to see beyond the curtain."
"And that you do," said Cruger.
For a moment, there was silence as the other three SPD Rangers weren't sure if they should show their spirits, but it was the encouragement of their teammates, Cruger, and Kat that finally made them sigh. The first one being Syd, who looked at her mom and the Samurai Rangers. "So… mine is this."
Syd closed her eyes as they saw green spiritual branches extend from her hands. At the same time, a new figure appeared. This one was bigger than Jack or Z's spirit, with the face of a wolf, similar to Mike's. They were surprised to find that Syd's spirit's body was that of a big bear, but its paws were different—they were the paws of an ape.
"You can't be serious…" said RJ, getting up, pointing between Syd and Emily. "You got a mix of them?"
"I call her Big Wolf-P, and believe me when I say, sometimes she's too protective," said Syd, looking up at the animal that growled at her softly, as if dismissing her comment. Different from Z and Jack, Syd's spirit could also sit down and pull Syd to her, to keep her safe. "She controls both the forest and earth, and somehow, she can also wield Masamune, which is why I can do it too."
"Incredible," said RJ, looking at the strange animal. "I've never seen something like this. You must be so powerful when you use it."
"Don't be fooled by the size, this big girl only uses Samurai techniques, unless she is really angry. Then she uses whatever she can," said Syd, smiling at the animal and petting her. "Don't you, my strong baby?"
The animal roared happily, making everything shake a little, and Syd chuckled as she looked to the side, where Sky took a deep breath. "Are you sure it's safe for me to do it here, Commander? Last time he couldn't even fit in a room, and I've been training."
"He'll be fine, Sky, as you said, you have been training, and I doubt he wants to hurt them. C'mon, show your mother what kind of spirit you have," said Cruger, and Sky shared a look with Kira before giving up. He extended his hand, feeling the powerful wave of energy as the dark crimson aura surrounded him, and soon a roar was heard. Sky closed his fists as an animal with the body of a Tyrannosaurus but the face with gold attachments, like armor, resembling Conner's Triassic mode appeared. On its back were two long Pterodactyl wings, and its color was orange, a perfect blend between red and yellow.
The animal, about the same size as Syd's spirit, was standing near his master with his piercing eyes looking in all directions. Strangers and friends were there, he could notice, and he moved his head to rest on Sky's shoulder before the Blue SPD Ranger petted him.
"This is my Ptetrasaurus. He is very cautious around people, mostly because of me. He controls fire, and his wings can create sonic waves, able to reach almost every frequency," explained Sky, touching the dinosaur's head tenderly.
"Look at that… a perfect mix between you and Conner, huh?" said Ethan, and Kira blushed while not far from them, Theo walked closer to the animal. "Can we touch him?"
To answer his question, the dinosaur moved, gently pushing Theo to the ground. Lily quickly got up, but Theo's hand stopped her as she noticed that the dinosaur was allowing Theo to sense his energy.
"Very strong and very gentle. I can't feel his weight," said Theo, smiling as he got up. "I bet you are also fast. You seem to be able to cut the clouds."
"He can," said Sky with a smile. "Can't you, big boy?" The dinosaur roared softly, careful not to break anything, as Theo went back to his team, and finally, all eyes turned to Bridge.
It's not like he didn't want to show his spirit; it was just that sometimes, the spirit was too much, even for him. He sighed; everybody had done it, and he knew it was going to be a surprise, but he wanted his mom to see his spirit so badly.
"Don't be scared," whispered Z, taking his hand in hers. "He's like you and your dad, despite being a little too excited sometimes."
Bridge smiled at her softly and nodded, then, taking all his energy, he extended his hand. An explosion of green energy surrounded him as Z took a step back, looking at Bridge proudly as the form of a white animal appeared in front of them. The animal, a mix between a tiger with black stripes all around its body, was bigger and a lot stronger than a normal tiger, and its face was that of a proud lion. In addition, around its neck, resting gently over its head, was a green snake with yellow eyes.
Bridge tried to warn the Megaforce Rangers, but as soon as his spirit saw them, the fierce animal turned into a pup, jumping towards them and effectively throwing them all to the ground. The other Rangers acted quickly, but Bridge stopped them with a sigh and looked at his spirit.
"Come here, Saber. I know you are excited, but that is no way to receive our guests," said Bridge. The liger looked up, locating his master, and ran to him, this time throwing Bridge to the ground and licking his face. Bridge started laughing while Lily took a step towards both of them.
"Wow… of course you had to be a mix between Gia's tiger and the white lion with a touch of the snake," whispered Lily. "Amazing."
The liger allowed Bridge to get up and looked at Lily. It was a nice blend, and the liger was still young. Bridge petted him before Lily touched his fur, and the animal turned to her, as if he had known her all his life.
"Hey, you are so handsome," said Lily, and the white lion put his head on her shoulder. Lily hugged him tight as Bridge finally got up, petting the big animal. "Sorry, everyone alright?"
"He is strong as your papa was," said Noah, smiling at him. "Is one of his power, right?" Bridge nodded, smiling as Lily took a step back. "Physically, he's the strongest spirit and one of the smartest too. Also, despite being so young, he is very protective of the team."
"I see. It seems your spirits were created by the bond you saw your parents had," said Casey, slightly curious. "But I have one question: if they were in crystal, how did you really understand the bonds between your parents?"
Of course, Casey had an idea, but he wanted to know if it matched the story of these young Rangers, so Bridge nodded, explaining everything he knew.
"It wasn't complicated. Papa and my uncles used to bring us around the crystals all the time. They had fans… too many if you ask me, and a few times they were asked out, but they always rejected them gently. Life went on until we grew up enough to start more serious training and, well, until we fell in love ourselves," explained Bridge.
"We understood the devotion they had for our mothers," said Sky with a gentle tone. "It was hard not to see, and I guess it changed something in us too, right? I believe we wanted to be part of that devotion, and then… well, they appeared."
Casey nodded. He watched the three animals move to the mothers of their masters, and it was evident the love they had for them and their respective teams. The Big Wolf-P waited until Emily extended her hand to hug her gently, and then she allowed the other Rangers to do the same as the spirit could feel Mike's essence in them all.
Then he saw the Ptetrasaurus lower his head and walk slowly towards the Dino Thunder Rangers. He even made sure the fire of his tail was away from them as he waited. Casey could sense the fear in the animal, at least until Kira put a hand on his head, and he looked at her.
"Welcome home," whispered Kira, hugging the animal. The dinosaur looked at her, and then he felt the other Dino Thunder Rangers, Kim, and Hayley hug him around Kira. The animal roared softly as a tear ran down his face.
If Sky also let a tear fall down his cheek, Casey chose not to say anything. Finally, Casey looked at Bridge's spirit. Knowing he could crush them all with a movement of his paw, this time, the liger decided to approach the Megaforce Rangers slowly and lay on the ground, showing his stomach to let them know he was not a threat.
It wasn't long before Gia was petting the big liger and laughing when the liger roared happily. "You are such a sweet boy." Soon, the rest of the Megaforce Rangers were also petting the liger as Bridge joined them, but it was when Jason approached that they all stopped, and the liger looked at him.
"Saber, huh?" asked Jason, petting the animal softly. "Just like Trini's."
Bridge nodded, looking at his spirit. "Sometimes… we can hear a roar in the distance. Papa believed it was Grandma, looking after us, so I decided to name this big boy Saber for her. He seems to like it."
"Yeah," said Jason, as the liger snuggled at him. "Hey, boy. I'm so happy to meet you, and look at you, you are really strong, huh? Probably reckless too."
The liger roared, and Bridge shook his head, but all they got in return was different sounds from the other animals and chuckles from his team. Cruger laughed. "This has been very interesting, but we need to go back to work, so please, spirits, go back to your masters."
The spirits nodded, and one by one, they all disappeared into the souls of their masters. Having learned from Jake, Dominic could see the control they had on their spirits, always ready to receive them and how the spirits truly connected with them.
He felt his heart break because, despite the pride, he could not tell Jake he was proud of how he handled their teachings. When he looked back at the screen, he saw all three Rangers teleported in the dojo where they used to train so long ago. The same place where they now teach others.
"Be ready, Rangers," said Cruger, looking at the Jungle Fury team. "I'm guessing we will be leaving soon."
The Jungle Fury Rangers nodded, and then Cruger looked at the memories. He wondered if this fight would be as he remembered.

Order of the Claw Dojo (End of 2016) – Entry
"Dai-shi…"
"You finally came, little lion," said Dai-shi's replica, pointing at him. "I will destroy you and take your spirits."
"Really? I'd like to see you try," said Jake, getting in position. "Conner, Mike, let's show this guy the power we have."
The two Rangers nodded, and together, they closed their eyes, glowing in white and black, red and green. The three Rangers called for their spirits and then opened their eyes, looking at Dai-shi with clear intention not to give up.
"Spirit! Unleash!"
An explosion of energy hit the dojo and covered Jake, Conner, and Mike in smoke. Once the smoke was gone, the three Rangers glowed in their respective colors. On each side of Jake were his white lion and his snake. Behind him, Mike had his wolf and his bear ready to fight. Conner, not far from Mike, had both his Tyranno, covered in the energy of his Triassic power, and his Bennu.
Dai-shi only smiled as he moved his hand, and with a light surrounding him, he called for the Griffin spirit. His eyes turned gold, much like Jake's. Oddly enough, none of them transformed into their Ranger forms, choosing to make this a real feral fight.
"Bring the power to me, Ranger," said Dai-shi as he moved his free hand to summon not only the Chameleon Warrior but also Grizzaka, Jellica, and Scorch. Jake growled but he wasn't going to give up, not here and not now.
He was a Pai Zhua student and he would fight for them. Jake roared, showing all his brutal power as he ran with white waves of energy exploding around him. He jumped, taking Dai-shi away from the main battle. Behind him, Conner felt the power of his Tyranno as he grabbed the Chameleon Warrior as she jumped towards him and a handful of Rinshi Beasts, throwing them to the other side of the battlefield. Then, he created small fireballs and levitated in the air, flying towards them at the same time Mike moved away from Grizzaka, using the speed of his wolf and, with a strong punch with the help of his bear, sent Grizzaka flying.
Jellica and Scorch joined the fight, but again, Mike was fast with his wolf and jumped over them, roaring like an angry bear as he hit them, sending them away from him.
Jake and Dai-shi clashed, sparks of energy going in all directions as they tried to get the upper hand. Dai-shi managed to separate, but Jake jumped enough to extend his leg, kicking Dai-shi in the chest. Jake had cuts all over his body, but he didn't care. He wasn't in complete control of his spirits. He gave them control, knowing full well the power they had once they were free.
Dai-shi recovered quickly, but Jake had his snake's intelligence and sense of movement to feel every inch of the ground and its waves. So he had no problem jumping away from the earthquake Dai-shi used against him, and he landed on the ground. Dai-shi looked at him, slightly impressed but with a smile.
"It seems I'm going to have to use my full power," said Dai-shi as Jake discarded his torn hoodie.
Jake knew what that meant, so he ran, trying to stop him. But he was hit directly by the power of Dai-shi, who transformed into a gold dragon. Blood spread everywhere as Jake hit the ground. Since the battle was brutal, all of them had cuts and bruises, but Jake got the worst since Dai-shi took his final form.
"Time to die, Ranger."
"Jake!" screamed Mike.
"No!" screamed Conner.
Dai-shi lowered his paw on the white Ranger, but he never hit him as Conner and Mike covered him. Waves of red and green energy exploded, mixing with Dai-shi's energy as they tried to protect Jake. Their spirits stood strong against their rival, but unfortunately, they just didn't have enough control of their spirits. Soon, Dai-shi overpowered them, sending them flying away. Mike hit the ground hard, his green energy glowing softly with the bear and the wolf on each side of him, also on the ground. Conner hit one of the pillars and fell, his Tyranno roaring softly and the Bennu wings moving slightly.
Jake, with blood running down the side of his face, tried to get up, but Dai-shi put a paw on his back and raised his hand. Jake knew this could be the end. He was aware of how weak everyone was compared to this form, and as his head hit the ground, he made one last call for help. "Please… help…"

SPD Academy (2025) – Meeting Room
"I know!"
It wasn't often Cruger had to scream, but he felt he had no choice as everyone wanted to jump into action. He too… was tense and ready to go, but they couldn't, not yet. He took a look at the image, wanting nothing more than to help, but then something caught his eye. It was five spirits: red, blue, yellow, pink, and silver, all of them running to aid the Rangers.
"Are those who I think they are?" asked Cruger.
"Them," said Casey, looking at the Megaforce Rangers with a tense smile. "Jake is calling for them."
The Rangers saw them: Troy's dragon, Noah's shark, Emma's Phoenix, Gia's tiger, and even Orion's rex. All of them clashed with Dai-shi, pushing him away from Jake before landing beside him. They saw the tiger lower her head to lick Jake's cheek, and he smiled, looking up.
"Hey…" whispered Jake, stroking the cheek of the tiger. "You are always saving me."
They saw Jake get up, and the spirits quickly covered him when Dai-shi tried to attack him again. Jake felt warm, covered by the Phoenix's wings while the dragon and the shark attacked, and the tiger and the rex threw themselves at Dai-shi. They were relentless, determined not to let anything touch Jake.
"I need you here, guys… fight with me," whispered Jake. It was a plea for help quickly answered as one by one, the spirits became part of Jake through his Gosei morpher. In a moment, a vision of Jake the Megaforce Rangers saw in the alternate dimension appeared in front of them.
"This is… the Jake we found in the alternative reality we traveled when we thought we were the reason why he was in danger all the time," said Gia, her voice breaking with fear as she realized the implication of Jake using all their spirits. "Is he…? Oh my God, Bridge! We need to stop him, now!"
Bridge had to grab his mom and hug her close as Gia herself was ready to jump into the corruption, not caring if she ended up in hell. She remembered very well that Jake died, and while this was just a video, even with her knowing Jake was already gone, she would not stand here and watch him fall like this.
"Ma… wait!"
Bridge saw the corruption ready for them, and with a brief look at the Jungle Fury Rangers, they jumped into the corruption without a second thought. Then, the SPD Rangers did the same, and Bridge hugged his mother tight before letting her go and jumping with his friends.
It was time to save his papa in these memories, in a way he couldn't do in real life.

Order of The Claw Dojo (End of 2016)
When the Jungle Fury Rangers and the SPD Rangers arrived, they saw Conner and Mike back in the fight, they were exhausted, clearly not used to fighting with their spirits this way but they were holding on and Jake was abusing of his power too, not far from them, trying to defeat someone who was practically unstoppable.
RJ quickly asset the situation, knowing that they needed some sort of calm process to deal with this. "Dominic, Theo, go help Mike with Syd and Cruger, do not let him abuse his power any more, it could damage him further."
"Understood…" said Theo and Dominic nodded. "Come on…"
Syd and Cruger quickly followed. Cruger didn't have a spirit animal but he in a sense an animal and along with Syd, who was already calling for her Big Wolf-P spirit, he found himself using the unusual form of Sirius habitants, he himself turned into a muscular and powerful dog, able to run beside Syd's spirit as they got Grizzaka, Jellica and Scorch. Syd's spirit was as angry as her owner and she pushed the grizzly monster away from Mike. Syd's spirit was furious, roaring like the fierce animal she was, and beside her, Cruger bite Jellica, forcing her to move away from Mike.
Not far from them, Theo and Dominic both called for their Jaguar and Rhino Spirit to tackle Scorch, preventing him to attack Syd or Cruger. The two master combined Theo's agility to distract the monster before he jumped over the Rhino, who created an earthquake to hit Scorch, throwing him with the other monsters as Syd finally arrived to Mike.
"Mike?" asked Syd, worried and when he looked up, he had a smirk. "Hey, I thought you weren't coming this time."
"Well, it took more than I thought it would." said Syd, hugging him tight. She did her best to hide her fear when Cruger appear by her side. "It is good to see you, Mike."
"Anubis?" asked Mike, surprised as Syd looked at her Commander. "Dude, I didn't know you had this form."
"It is not usual but remember I'm from Sirius and I'm an Emperor." said Cruger with his calm form. "Are you fit to fight?"
"Yeah." said Mike, using Syd for support, it was then when he noticed the giant animal fighting the monsters along with Theo and Dominic. Mike looked impressed and while the mix of animals was familiar, he wasn't sure if his suspicions were right.
"Let's help Theo and Dominic." said Syd, getting Mike out of his thoughts. He nodded and together, the three Rangers ran to their friends.
Meanwhile, RJ had directed Sky, Z, Lily and Casey to help Conner as he fought the Chameleon and the Beasts. It wasn't an easy fight, with his injuries and the enemies that had him surrounded so it was a relief when he saw a Tiger and a Chettah appear out of nowhere, pushing the Chameleon away, a moment later a Falcon grabbed Conner, and helped him get more distance between him and his enemies and then, he saw a dinosaur who resembled his tyranno use its wings to create a sonic scream almost as powerful as Kira's.
Conner felt his jaw hit the ground when he understood that was Skylar's spirit animal. He saw Sky's complete focus as he commanded his powerful spirit to defeat the beasts with Z's Falcon while Casey and Lily stood by each side of Conner, both chuckling at the dumb expression in Conner's face.
"You have a very powerful son, Conner." said Lily.
"Indeed. Do you think you can join the party?" asked Casey.
Both Rangers helped Conner to get up, feeling the warmth in Conner's body. The vision of his son having a spirit that was a mix of his and Kira's was enough to bring him back to life, more powerful than ever, Lily and Casey chuckled as they heard Conner's Tyranno and Bennu roaring.
"Let's do this."
Finally, RJ used his wolf and all the power he had over the years to break the fight between Jake and Dai-shi jumping over Jake to hit the powerful monster away, giving them some room to breathe while Jack and Bridge took care of the Ranger. Jack choose to stay protectively with his panther in front of Bridge and Jake while Bridge took his father's hands in his.
"Papa, you need to get a hold on yourself. We are here, you need to let the spirits of the Megaforce Rangers go." said Bridge.
"No!" said Jake in a voice that wasn't completely his. "I need them for this… I need them…"
Bridge knew that his papa was not only talking about the spirits but his ma was right, he knew enough to know his father died from this reason in an alternate reality. He also knew the consequences of holding too many spirits at once.
"Jack!" screamed RJ.
Bridge looked briefly at RJ being thrown away like a toy when Jack and his panther got him before he hit the ground and then, the two Rangers started to fight this Dai-shi once again. He looked at the other Rangers fighting and finally, he looked at his father. He needed to bring him back.
"Papa…" said Bridge, taking off one of his gloves. "You need to let it go."
He raised his hand, to touch his papa's face and there, he could feel the truth behind his desire to keep the spirits, it was the connection to his friends. Bridge felt tears in his eyes as he saw the pain his papa hide from the world but that it was clear now but it also gave him the answer he needed and with a movement of his hand, he showed Jake his spirit animal, a blend between Jake and Gia, perfect and strong.
"They are here, papa. I promise." whispered Bridge, bringing his father closer to him in a hug. "Let them go."
Jake roared softly, finally releasing the tension as the spirits of his friends got out of his body and flew around the battlefield before disappearing. They were here to give Bridge and the others time and now they were here, they could go. Bridge wondered if maybe they knew more but his thoughts were quickly redirected to his papa as he looked at him with soft golden eyes.
"Thank you, buddy." whispered Jake. "I needed that."
"No problem, papa."
Jake smiled at him when he saw Jack and RJ land a few feet away from them. Dai-shi was powerful and the would need all the power to defeat him but they were ready, especially when Jake saw all the Rangers reunite together.
"No matter how many of you come here. I will win!" screamed Dai-shi.
"I don't think so." said Casey, looking to his side at Jake. "Ready!?" Jake nodded and at the same time, all the Rangers raised their morphers.
"SPD Emergency!" "Firebird Ranger! Activate!" "Wolf Ranger! Activate!"
The Jungle Fury Rangers nodded at each other and at the same time, they took their sunglasses, the same one that help them to morph, ready for battle.
"Jungle Beast!" screamed the Jungle Fury Rangers and Jake, as he raised his morpher. "Spirit! Unleash!"
As the Rangers morphed, Jake's Ranger morph started to change in a new outfit, the one that gave him the full power of his spirits. His helmet, sleek and aerodynamic, resembled the noble head of a white lion. The tinted visor mimicked the fierce yet wise eyes of his spirit animal, granting Jake not just protection but also an air of quiet intimidation that spoke of his inner strength. As he adjusted his helmet, he could feel the presence of the white lion within him, ready to lend its power.
Jake's chest armor fit him like a second skin, offering unparalleled flexibility while bearing the weight of battle. Its main hue was a pure, unblemished white, accentuated by black lines that shimmered in the light. Right over his heart, the glowing emblem of the white lion pulsed gently with energy, a constant reminder of his source of strength and courage.
His gauntlets, reinforced for combat, allowed him to strike with the precision and power of a lion's paw. They bore subtle claw-like patterns, an homage to his spirit animal's lethal grace. The gloves fit snugly, ensuring that every punch he threw was as swift and powerful as the lion's strike.
The leg armor, designed for agility, clung to Jake's legs, allowing for quick, fluid movements essential in battle. The white of the armor contrasted with the subtle black accents, enhancing its elegance. His sturdy boots, intricately detailed to resemble a lion's paw, provided stability and strength, crucial for the martial arts skills he had honed.
Around his waist, the functional belt sat perfectly, with the form of a snake and its buckle featuring the team emblem—the Order of the Claw's proud symbol. This belt housed his morpher and a few small gadgets, each one meticulously designed to assist him in battle.
"We must attack with everything!" said Casey, as he and Jake took a step forward. "Let's show them the power of the bond with our spirits!"
As the Rangers took position, all of them started to glow and at the same time, their spirit animals appeared around them, making the Rangers roar before all of them ran towards Dai-shi. Jack hit him first, using the agility of his panther, then, Z's came down at him using her falcon to struck him in the head. With no time to lose, Dominic used his powerful Rhino to push Dai-shi several steps back and right after, RJ hit their energy with quick attacks, showing his wolf's agility.
"Our turn!" screamed Bridge. He, Sky and Syd ran together and that the same time, they used their spirits to hit Dai-shi so hard the monsters went flying to the nearest wall, destroying it. Cruger looked at Jake. "Rangers, finish this!"
Jake nodded, seeing Dai-shi getting up again. "Guys, keep them busy!"
Conner and Mike nodded and together with Lily and Theo, called for their spirits to send a combined attack and blinded Dai-shi and forced him to create a barrier to protect himself, leaving himself open for Jake and Casey.
"Spirit of the Tiger!" screamed Casey.
"Spirit of the Snake and the White Lion!" screamed Jake.
Both Ranger hit Dai-shi at the same time. He screamed and soon, his form fell to the ground, defeated as Jake and Casey landed on the ground. Jake took a deep breath but he lost his morph, just like Conner and Mike.
Luckily, the other Rangers were there to assist them.
"Easy now… you thought you could hold them all, didn't you?" said Casey with a chuckle and Jake nodded, taking a deep breath. "I had it for a minute."
"All of you did a good job." said Theo, holding Mike with Dominic's help. "I was impressed." Lily nodded, helping Conner with RJ. "Not everyone can control their spirits so quick at first and much less prepare them for this fight."
Jake looked at his son, but he knew Bridge couldn't tell him anything about the future, no matter how much he wanted to know so he didn't ask. He only smiled at him, as a thank you for saving him again and took a step away when he saw Casey and the Rangers disappear.
"Already?" asked Lily, sadly. "I wanted to talk to you but since I can't, please, Jake, don't worry about us. You can see we are fine, can't you?"
"Yeah, is just… I miss everybody." admitted Jake, his voice breaking. "Sorry."
Lily ran to him, hugging him tight. "Don't be sorry. You can hurt and you should talk about it, alright? Remember, everything you feel, they feel it too and that's not good."
Jake nodded when Theo came to stay beside Lily as she put a hand on Jake's chest, over his heart. "You are brave and strong like the lion but also has the snake's intelligence, Jake, use it to guide your movements when you are lost." said Theo.
"I will, thank you, both of you for guiding me." said Jake. "We always will." said Theo.
Jake nodded and they took a step back, allowing RJ and Dominic to walk towards Jake, this time, Jake was surprised as they saluted him as if Jake was one of Pai Zhua masters. "What are you doing?" asked the Ranger, surprised.
"At this point, there is nothing else we can teach you, Jake, despite your emotions overwhelming you, which is natural, you have complete control of your spirits." said RJ with a smile. "You have become a Pai Zhua master."
"But I…" started Jake.
"No buts, we've seen you grow up, little one. We know what we are talking about." said Dominic and then, he got serious. "Keep your head high, Jake. You are one of us and our family is stronger with you three, understood?"
Jake nodded, still confused about the exchange but he accepted the hugs of the men he considered the true Masters before they took a step back as Casey finally approached him. "I knew since the first moment I saw you, you had power inside no one has seen before, time gave me the reason and now, you must arm yourself with patience and calm to face your next challenges."
"I know, Casey but it's so hard…" said Jake, looking down. "I don't know what to do half of the time and the Dark Ranger has not shown up yet, he keeps sending these replicas but… what if he doesn't come? what if he does come but we are not ready…?"
Casey stopped him, putting a hand on his chest before pointing at the SPD Rangers in front of him. "They have spirits, like we do, like you taught Conner and Mike, we weren't there, Jake, you did this and you must continue showing your strength to the Universe. There are many things that you will have to face and to be able to overcome your challenges, you must call upon the power of your spirits, let them guide you, as we also be there, just like them."
Jake didn't need to ask who was Casey talking about and he nodded as he watched them disappear. He waved at Bridge as the SPD Rangers did the same, even if Mike wanted answer about Sydney's spirit that she could not give him right now. Conner too nodded at his son and bruised and bloody, the three men stood there alone, feeling the destruction of the Dojo but also starting to feel the pain of their injuries.
"Well… we should get going." said Conner, groaning as he touched his arm. "Kat is not going to be happy about this."
"Of course not." said Jake, limping towards the guardians. "We fought like animals but at least we won, right? and that's another enemy down."
"Yeah." said Mike, hissing when his jacket touched side. "C'mon, let's teleport before we pass out here."
Together and supporting each other, the three Rangers teleported out of the Order of the Claw Dojo making a mental note to ask their allies to rebuild and protect this place of honor and wisdom while they continued their fight.
Hopefully, after they recover.

SPD Academy (2025) – Meeting Room
Once they arrived, the SPD Rangers also had to take a seat. "Ah, that was exhausting." said Jack, taking a deep breath.
"I bet you don't your animals often." said Dominic, chuckling and Jack nodded. "In my case and Z would be easy but can you image what it would be like to see their animals? Believe they don't need to get more famous they already are."
"We're not that famous." said Syd and Z chuckled, hugged her friend. "Of course you are, you just act as if you weren't."
Syd rolled her eyes but didn't say anything while Bridge looked at the Megaforce Rangers as his ma took his hand in hers, worried. "It's fine, ma and now you know how your spirits came here. Once they came back, they found them here, exhausted as we all are."
"Are you talking about the spirits in the gym?" asked Kat and Bridge nodded. "Yes, they were weak but with a little help of the Rangers we were able to produce energy for them and to be honest, they have been a big help for us in terms of giving energy to the crystals as they acted as conduct of the energy most of the time."
"We understand…" said Gia and then she smiled at Bridge. "Thank you for making your papa understand he needed to stop."
"It was hard, he is so sad, ma…" said Bridge, looking down. "Sometimes I wonder if we were really enough."
"You were." said Theo, deep in touch and Lily nodded, taking his hand and looking at the confused Rangers. "Theo is right, your spirits are the evidence of how much they loved you too, the fact that he was able to connect with Jack and Z to show them their spirits…"
"…and he was comfortable enough to show them to you, Commander Cruger or to Kat." said RJ, nodding. "Remember Jake only did this with people he trusted the most, like Conner, Mike and you two."
"The fact you, three, Bridge, Sky and Syd have a mix of both animals representing not only their spirits but the animals of the women they loved also a good evidence." said Casey. "It means their feelings for them were strong enough to be passed onto you, creating powerful and beautiful protectors that will be with you for the rest of your lives."
Bridge smiled softly, thanking Casey for calming his fears when he felt a hug from his mother and Cruger nodded to himself. "Today has been an exhausting experience, even for me. We should rest and prepare, tomorrow will be another long day."
The Rangers nodded, the intense fighting had been a lot and they were all tired so without much fight, and with the SPD Rangers, they all walked out of the room. That's when Cruger noticed one Ranger not moving and looked at Kat, who was as confused as he felt.
Near them, Kira stopped Trent, both of them noticing Ethan was still there, with the sunglasses Sky gave him in Conner's house, confused, the two Dino Thunder Rangers walked towards him and stood behind him as Ethan looked at Cruger.
"Commander why did Conner used a variation of the sunglasses the Jungle Fury Rangers used to morph?" asked Ethan, showing Cruger and Kat the glasses. "Sky gave them to me, he said Conner wanted me to find out what they were."
Now that Ethan say it, Kira and Trent share a look, they remembered Sky talking about it and now they were wondering the same question Ethan just made to the Commander, meanwhile, Cruger share a look with Kat. Sky knew it was too soon and he still choose to follow his father's desires…
"Wait… let me see them again." said Kira and Ethan showed them to her, after a moment, Kira too looked at Cruger and Kat. "This glasses… he was wearing them in the first video we saw of them, when he was outside."
"What's happening?" asked Trent.
Cruger sighed… Sky did get them in trouble. "Rangers, there is a reason but you must wait to see it in these videos because I'm sure that's an event we will see eventually."
"That's not an explanation." said Ethan and Cruger nodded. "We know, but if Sky gave it to you, it must because it has something for you that you must discover, Ethan and for the reasons why Conner used those glasses… there is nothing more I can tell you, Rangers."
The Dino Thunder Rangers wanted more answers but it was clear they weren't getting them today and it was clear Cruger was too tired to discuss the matter so they had no choice but to leave the room with a lot of questions regarding these glasses.
Sharing a look, the three Rangers decided the better course of action was to talk to the Jungle Fury Rangers tomorrow and find out what those glasses really do.
And what they meant for Conner.
