"Hey, Ron?" Zuko asks the redhead, the aroma of sizzling bacon filling the air. Ron hums as he cooks. Zuko smiles. They're on the moon, so Zuko is safe from people knowing the truth.
"I was thinking of getting something for Donovan for his birthday. Do you know what he would like?" Zuko asks. Ron looks at the food in deep thought.
"Art supplies. You can ask Eddie," Ron suggests, eager to help. The boy, with a scared face, smiles at him.
"Thanks, Ron," Zuko tells him, his gratitude overflowing in his voice. The redhead smiles, his eyes crinkling at the corners. Zuko heads to the medical building, his heart warmed by Ron's suggestion. He sees a man with tattoos.
"Hey, Eddie," Zuko greets the man. Eddie's smile is like a warm blanket, wrapping Zuko in a sense of security. He opens his arms for a hug, and Zuko runs towards him, feeling safe and loved in Eddie's embrace.
"What's up, kiddo?" Eddie asks the child. Eddie and Donovan have made him feel like family without knowing him. They have protected him without knowing his world.
"Donovan's birthday is coming up, and I want to do something for him. However, he's difficult to shop for. Do you know what he would like?" Zuko tells him, causing Eddie to hum.
"If you have a book based on your society and rulers, that would be cool. It would help to know what is allowed and not allowed," Eddie thinks about what his partner would like. Zuko brightens at this.
"I have the perfect gift. Thank you, Eddie!" Zuko thanks Eddie and runs out. Eddie chuckles at the kid's excitement. Once Zuko is in his world, he sees Aang looking at him. His heart drops. Aang smiles softly.
"Hey, Zuko," Aang greets his firebender master. Zuko fidgets.
"Aang? Is everything okay?" Zuko asks the Avatar, his voice tinged with concern. Aang sits down and pats beside him, his worry for Zuko evident in his eyes. Aang knew something was up with the prince but couldn't figure out what.
"Zuko, take a deep breath. Everything is fine, and I'm worried about you. Are you a Knight of the Moon Kingdom?" Aang tells him. Zuko looks down and tries to make him smaller. Aang goes and hugs the firebender.
"I'm not going to hurt you, Zuko. I understand why. I don't like it, but I understand it. Is there anything I can do to help you?" Aang comforts him. Zuko sees Sokka, Toph, Suki, and Katara coming. All confused.
"I was wondering if we can make a book on our societies?" Zuko questions the airbender. Aang smiles.
"Sure, we can. Why?" Aang asks, and Zuko thinks about it. Katara glares at him.
"It's for a friend," was all Zuko tells him. Aang smiles.
After months of work, Zuko is back on the moon. He sees his family and smiles. He goes to Ron and the two hug. Ron raises an eyebrow, causing Zuko to look over his shoulder. He sees the gang and sighs. Aang smiles at him.
"Aang, where are we?" Katara asks her friend. The last airbender smiles.
"On the moon, with the Knights of the Moon Kingdom," Aang tells her. Aang follows Zuko and Ron, as the redhead refuses to give Zuko to them. The gang sees Zuko going to a man with a hug and the book they had been working on for months.
"Happy Birthday, papa," Zuko tells Donovan. Donovan smiles and looks at the book.
"Is this your world, Zu?" Donovan asks his kid, and Zuko smiles. Donovan kisses his forehead.
"Thank you, kiddo," Donovan says warmly, and Zuko hugs him again. Then Zuko hugs Eddie as a thank you. Eddie grins and kisses his forehead.
"You good, kid?" Eddie has seen the group of five with Zuko and wants to make sure that Zuko is okay.
"I'm good, dad. They're good people," Zuko tells him.
"Be safe, kiddo," Eddie tells him, and Zuko kisses his cheek.
"I will," Zuko tells him. Zuko wanders over to the gang, and Aang smiles happily at him.
"Thank you, Zuko," Aang tells him, and Zuko smiles.
