"Donnie! How are you?" Donovan sees Tony walking in with supplies. Donovan tilts his head in confusion, his eyes reflecting his exhaustion.
"I'm good. How are you, Tony?" Donovan asks him. Tony looks at him with a frown.
"I'm good. When was the last time you slept and ate?" He questions the younger man. Donovan blinks in surprise.
"Two days ago. I couldn't sleep. Kono is making sure that I eat. Why? Is everything okay? Do you need help?" Donovan asks, and Tony smiles at him.
"I'm worried about you, Donovan. You know that Maggie is doing her best to ensure Eddie's safety. But how are you doing?" Tony's voice is filled with genuine concern, his worry for his friend palpable. Donovan's gaze falls on the bullet.
"I'm okay. Nearly losing Eddie is making me worry. The kids have their own thing, and my team is doing well. Eddie lets me do things for him. I can't lose him, Tony. I'm not okay," Donovan's voice trembles as he speaks, and Tony hugs him.
"Eddie would want you to continue what you need to do. And he will come back. He's a fighter, Donnie," Tony reassures Donovan, his words carrying a comforting weight that brings a glimmer of hope to the situation.
"I'm scared, Tony," Donovan admits to the older man. Tony holds him tighter.
"Can I ask you something, Donnie?" Tony asks, and Donovan smiles.
"What is it?" He questions him. Tony lets him go and wanders around the workshop.
"Was I the first choice for you?" Tony asks, and Don nods his head in understanding.
"No. Actually, it was a fight to get us to agree on someone. I wanted Jessica Jones, Eddie wanted Misty Knight, Kono wanted Colleen Wing, Kim wanted Brigid O'Reilly, Emily wanted Mockingbird, Jake wanted Sue Storm, Nick wanted Betsy Braddock, and Brian wanted Namor. We could not choose who we wanted," Donovan smiles, causing Tony to look at him.
"What?" Tony asks, laughing. Donovan smiles.
"No one wanted you or Steve. For obvious reasons, of course, and to our frustration, no one but you was available at the time. However, we love having you with us. You bring a different vibe to us, and we don't want you for your money. I hope that you know that," Donovan tells him. Tony smiles.
"All of your picks would be a fantastic help to you. I'm glad that I can help you," Tony tells him. He's not hurt or mad at the picks, as he can understand why they didn't want Tony or Steve. Tony's grateful that he has the chance to be there for them. As much as he loves his group, the Knights are also his family.
The two work on the weapons for a while. Kono comes in with two plates of food. The two men smile at the woman in thanks. She sits next to them and asks questions.
