Chapter 6 Meeting of the Gods

Note: Honestly. Back to school is killing me! I'm accumulating more subjects every day, dear God! High school is a real mess! But apart from that. I'm really committed to writing my stories. Anyway, on to the chapter.

[Tower of Babel.]

Freya, now seeming to have a routine. Meeting the only two members of the Hestia family at the Hostess of Fertility, doing a bit of work, going back to her house, returning to her room, and spying on the lives of the two boys. Well, she doesn't mind being indecent, because if she can complete her goal, and have them both for herself, she won't care about anything else.

"You guys are amazing... especially you... Penny." Freya smiled. She watched the two of them fight in the dungeon. After that quick fight Freya saw of the boys defeating Wars Shadows with some ease, she became even more interested. Not that she wasn't already very interested, but okay.

Freya watched them arrive on the seventh floor of the dungeon. The boys walk a little further, until they find a Killer Ant, Penny, without much difficulty, proceeds to cut off half of the ant's body. The ant falls to the ground and struggles as it dies.

Penny approaches the ant and begins to pierce its body to try and find the magic stone. Bell approaches him, looking very desperate. Penny turns to Bell and they seem to be talking about what happened.

"And they forgot the ant's body on the ground." Freya said, looking a little worried. She watched as the two continued to argue, but they abruptly turned around, looking as if they'd been startled. "And the ant reinforcements have arrived."

Bell and Penny seemed to be talking more and plotting something, but it was probably just a fighting tactic. Penny switches her God Arc to Pistol mode and starts firing at the Killer Ants. As the ants get closer and closer, they change tactics and start fighting hand-to-hand.

"If you were other adventurers, you'd have run in fear and died, but since it's you, I know you won't." Freya smiles as she snuggles into her throne. Enjoying the view.

Bell and Penny continue fighting the Ants, but suddenly, a Kobold advances on Penny and bites her right arm. It manages to pierce the flesh and draw some blood. The Kobold moves away and starts growling at Penny.

The boy despairs. He lunges at the Kobold to try to eliminate him, but because of his wound, Penny can't be precise. The Kobold pulls away and starts to run. Penny tries to chase him, but sees Bell surrounded by ants and decides to go and help him.

Freya raises a curious eyebrow. She decides to change the course of her mirror and focuses her gaze on the Kobold who has just escaped.

"There shouldn't be kobolds on the seventh floor. Did he come up from the eighth?" Freya mutters but she puts it aside. But before she can shift her focus from the mirror, she notices that the Kobold has fallen to the floor. "Um?" She sees the monster lying down and breathing heavily, looking like it's... in pain. "What happened to that monster?"

She sees the kobold lying down and breathing heavily, seeing more killer ants coming towards the monster, she realizes that it will be devoured. But nothing happens, leaving Freya shocked. The ants approach the Kobold, but they only smell it and quickly move away.

"There's something wrong with that Kobold..." Freya murmurs cautiously.

[Guild.]

In a secret part of the guild. In a hidden room is Ouranos. The first God to descend into the mortal world and bless mankind with fauna. He was sitting on his throne, his eyes closed, just meditating. But he quickly opens them, feeling a strong sense of danger, he realizes that something powerful is coming from the Dungeon.

"Call Royman." Ouranos says to a hooded person next to him.

The person nods and walks out of the room. While Ouranos, the first God to descend into the world and grant fauna to mankind, sighs worriedly. After a few minutes, a man enters the room and bows to the God in front of him.

"You summoned me, Mr. Ouranos?" Royman bows his head as he greets the God.

"Royman. I need you to contact the Ganesha Family as soon as possible." Ouranos says. "Apparently, an anomaly is occurring on the eighth floor of the Dungeon, so I need the Gamesha family to investigate it."

"Ah, yes sir." Royman agrees without hesitation. He quickly leaves the room, leaving the God there, alone.

"This is unusual... such a powerful presence shouldn't be on a floor so close to the surface. What could have happened for such a powerful monster to be on the seventh floor in the Dungeon?"

[Loki Family Mansion].

At the Loki Family mansion, a small meeting was taking place with the family members, and of course, the Goddess Loki. Loki was sitting at a large table, her elbows resting on the table while her hands were clasped together, and she was looking at the members of her family frankly.

"So, you must already know why I called this meeting, right?" Loki said to the people in front of him. Aiz, Bete, Finn, Tione, Tiona, Lefya and Gareth.

"Not exactly." Lefiya says scratching a little behind her ear.

"Is this about our expedition to the deepest floors of the dungeon?" Tione asks, crossing her arms.

"Is it because of the approaching Monsterphilia?" Tiona asks.

"No. From the look on Goddess Loki's face, it must be something very important." Gareth says scratching his beard thoughtfully.

"It's about that boy who fought Bete in the Hostess of Fertility, isn't it?" Finn says, already knowing the reason for the meeting.

"Exactly!" Loki points at Finn excitedly, too excitedly for everyone's surprise.

"Ah, yes. The boy who treated Bete like a horse hehe!" Tione mocks Bete as she remembers the fight.

"I swear I'll gouge that brat's eyes out if I see him again!" Bete growls angrily at the provocation. "And stop laughing! Do you want me to beat you up right here and now?" Bete approaches Tione angrily, but Tiona blocks her path.

"Calm down, little horse. We're just making fun of you!" Tiona joins in the fun.

"You bastards!" Bete growls even more furiously.

"Bete, calm your nerves." Finn orders with a stern look in Bete's direction. The werewolf huffs angrily, pacing, leaning against a wall while crossing his arms. "So, Goddess Loki. What exactly do you want to discuss?"

"Why, isn't it obvious? I want to recruit you into my family!" Loki says with his mischievous grin.

"No way!" Bete shouts even more furiously. "I won't let that wretch into this family!"

"Bete, calm your nerves." Gareth says to the werewolf. "And what makes you think he'll join our family?"

"Isn't it obvious? We're the Loki family! One of the most powerful families in Orario! Who wouldn't want to join us?" Loki scoffs at the question, but she feels a slight discomfort. "Although he didn't even seem to want to talk to me when I stayed late at the tavern."

"Ah, yes. What exactly did you do when you stayed with Aiz in the tavern?" Lefya asks, holding her ears because of Bete's earlier shouting.

"About that... I tried to find out more about him." Loki crosses her arms thoughtfully. "But he refused to talk to me the whole time. He'd just say 'You don't need to know' or 'I'm not in the mood to talk, sorry. I am the Goddess Loki!" Loki put her hand on her non-existent chest a little indignantly.

"Did he really disrespect you like that?" Tiona asks in surprise.

"Assuming he called us a bunch of crazy people, he must not know anything about Orario. So he must be new here." Tione concludes.

"But that doesn't make sense. If he's new to Orario, then how come he's so strong that he can take on Bete without any problems, and still immobilize him?" Finn looks thoughtful.

"As far as I know, only Orario still has an active dungeon to this day, doesn't it? So there's no way he could get that strong just by facing the monsters on the surface." Gareth looks thoughtful.

"I'm not sure about that, but I was very curious about that strange weapon of his." Loki puts his hand to his chin thoughtfully. "I've never seen a weapon like that, but it did look a lot like a ship's cannon."

"Cannon?... yeah, it does look a lot like a cannon." Finn concludes, realizing the same point as Loki.

"But why would he use a ship's cannon? And aren't these cannons extremely heavy?" Lefya says puzzled.

"A monster." Aiz says. At the same moment, everyone turned to her.

"What do you mean?" Loki asks, looking very puzzled.

"When... I looked at that weapon of his, I felt like I was looking at a dungeon monster." Aiz looks up at the ceiling, remembering the feeling that weapon gave him... a sense of danger.

"Dungeon monster? What is it? That's not even possible. And don't talk as if that little shit can defeat a dungeon monster that easily." Bete growls.

"But he managed to outsmart you and make a horse out of you." Tiona retorts. Bete glares at her more angrily, just one outburst away from attacking her right then and there.

"Okay, everyone." Loki says, drawing the attention of everyone in the room. "I'm going to wait a bit longer and see what happens, but I'm not going to stand idly by. Finn." Loki looks at the captain of his Family. "Can you find out more about this Penny?"

"I can try, but people won't suspect a member of the Loki family. Or rather, the captain of the Loki family is looking for information about a newcomer?" Finn says to his Goddess.

"Really..." Loki puts his hand to his chin thoughtfully. "So you can get the information from another family without people getting suspicious?"

"I can help with that!" Lefya says. "From what I've heard of him from you, he seems strong and he's from a new family, so the small families must surely know something."

"That's right!" Loki spreads his arms and gives a debauched smile. "How hard is it to find a boy with strange clothes and an even stranger weapon?"

"Maybe that's why we don't know what family he's from?" Tiona says, raising an eyebrow.

"But is it really a good idea to try and take him?" Tione says.

"Come to think of it, couldn't that ruin our reputation?" Lefya says, sounding nervous about this meeting.

"Who cares!" Bete shouts to the people. "I won't let that little shit into this family!"

"Well..." Loki gets up from the table. "Your opinion doesn't matter." Loki starts trotting out of the room.

"Where are you going?"

"Where else? I'm getting ready for the meeting of the gods!"

"But isn't the meeting only tomorrow?"

[Meeting of the Gods].

"Thank you all very much for coming!" A tall, muscular man in a red elephant mask speaks. I am, the God Ganesha!" Ganesha thanks everyone while posing.

The Gods are chatting and drinking their glasses of wine. With most of them chatting about random subjects. But the commotion stops when someone enters the room. Freya, the Goddess of beauty and fertility enters the room, descending the spiral staircase with enormous glamor.

Most of the men paying attention to the Goddess were drooling and gawking at her. Meanwhile, Hestia was at the snack table, just enjoying the delicious party food.

"Hello, Hestia." Freya approaches Hestia, making her startle a little.

"Oh, it's you, Freya." Hestia sighs.

"Oh, sorry, am I in the way?" Freya asks while giggling slightly.

Hestia continues chewing the food in her mouth. "Actually, yes. I was enjoying the food until you arrived."

"Hoho! Your sense of humor is what I like most about you." Freya says, laughing a little. "In fact, what a beautiful dress you have on." Freya compliments Hestia's dress.

Hestia is wearing a long blue dress, with blue ribbons that run from her shoulder to her waist in a spiral shape, and white gloves that run from her elbows.

"Well, all the same. I still like you better than her." Hestia says, looking towards the stairs she sees Loki running towards them.

"Ahh Freya!" Loki runs at an abysmal speed, stopping at the same moment next to Freya.

"Oh, hi Loki. It's been so long since I've seen you in a dress." Freya says in her cute, caring tone of voice.

"Well, since today was a special occasion, I wanted to come in character. Unlike a goddess who could only afford a cheap dress." Loki put his hand in front of his mouth as he laughed a little at Hestia.

"Wooo how wonderful!" Hestia says, in such a sarcastic tone that the words seem to echo around the room. "I may be poor and not have that many fancy dresses, but at least." Hestia looks at Loki, pointing at the Goddess's breasts, she gives a mischievous smile. "I don't have board breasts."

Without hesitation, Loki goes up to Hestia and grabs her cheeks. Swinging the Goddess from side to side in pure hatred of the Goddess of the hearth. Over the commotion, the Gods turn and watch the two fight.

After a few seconds of this, Loki lets go of Hestia and turns to leave while crying angrily.

"Next time put some padding in that board of yours to talk to me!" Hestia smiles victoriously as she holds her sore cheeks.

"Shut up!" Loki stomps off.

After the commotion, the Gods go back to doing what they were doing. (Nobody cares about them, do they?) And a red-haired Goddess wearing an eye patch approaches Hestia and Freya.

"I can't believe it, are you two fighting again?" Hephaestos says over a glass of wine.

"Hephaestos, I'm so glad you came! I wanted to see you so much!" Hestia said excitedly as she turned to the Goddess.

"You wanted to see me?" Hephaestos asks in surprise. "Look, Hestia. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to lend you any more Valis."

"That's not it!" Hestia retorts. "You'd think I'd borrow money from you all the time for you to treat me like this!"

"Hestia, don't get me wrong, but you've lived in my family for free for a long time." Hephaestos retorts. "And when I sent you away, you came back crying. Saying you had no money, no house, no family." With every word Hephaestos says, Hestia feels her insides break even more. "Then don't blame me for thinking you just want my money."

"All right, I may have abused your kindness a little, but things have changed! I now have a family with two members!" Hestia raised her arm and made the three sign with her hand, indicating Bell and Penny.

"Ah, yes. I've heard, it's a Bell Cranel isn't it? A boy with white hair and red eyes." Hephaestos says. "And there's another rumor about his twin brother, that he has a cannon that can change into two swords. Honestly, I don't even believe it."

Hestia swallows dryly while Freya just smiles at the situation. A butler approaches Freya and whispers in her ear.

"I'm sorry, girls. But I have to go." Freya apologizes to the Goddesses.

"Oh, but already?" Hephaestos says in surprise.

"Yes, I came to check something. And I've already seen what I need." Freya says, looking at Hestia out of the corner of her eye. "Besides, the male gazes are already starting to bother me." Freya says and the men swallow as they quickly walk away. "See you later!" Freya says goodbye.

"Hestia. Get to the point and tell me what you want straight away." Hephaestos cuts in. "Depending on your answer, I may decide never to speak to you again."

"I'm not going to ask you for anything!" Hestia says, but in a few moments she kneels on the ground and begs the Goddess. "Can you please make a weapon for Bell!"

[House of Hephaestos].

Hestia, who was still kneeling, was now in Hephaestos' workroom.

"Hestia, you're going to stay like this until when?" Hephaestos, who is sitting at his desk with some papers, says. "Look, I'm sorry. But I'm a very busy Goddess. Don't you realize that you're getting in my way?"

Hephaestos says, but the kneeling Goddess with her forehead on the floor doesn't move.

"Hestia, stop. This is getting boring. What do you think you're doing?" Hephaestos says.

"I'm prostrating you. Takemikazuchi taught me, it's a special technique when you want something badly enough." Hestia says as she remains kneeling with her forehead on the ground.

"Honestly, this has gone far enough!" Hephaestos gets up from his chair and faces Hestia. "Hestia, tell me. Why do you want me to make this weapon so badly?"

"Because I really want to help Bell! He's trying very hard to get better, but the road is difficult and I'm afraid that Penny won't be able to protect him in a moment of crisis!" Hestia speaks as she remains in her position. "It's a dangerous journey, and I can't stand it. I can't see Bell struggling while I do nothing! That's why I want to give him a new weapon! He always helps me, and recently, Penny joined the family and he helps me even more, but still... I'm their Goddess... but I don't do what a God should do... I hate not being able to help them." Hestia clenches her fists in frustration.

"Striving to improve." Hephaestos whispers with a slight smile on his face. "All right, Hestia. I'll do as you ask." Hephaestos says, surprising Hestia. "I'll make a weapon for Bell."

"T...Thank you very much Hephaestos!" Hestia jumps at Hephaestos to hug him, but ends up tripping, but Hephaestos catches her before she falls.

"But let's be clear. You will have to pay me for this weapon. Even if it takes decades or centuries." Hephaestos says, while Hestia nods happily.

"Deal!"

"What kind of weapon does your son use?" Hephaestos asks, picking up one of her hammers hanging on a wall that she uses to let them rest.

"He likes knives!" Hestia says excitedly. "Hephaestos, don't tell me you're going to make Bell's weapon yourself!?"

"Of course I'm going to. I can't involve my family in a matter that only concerns the two of us." Hephaestos said, turning to Hestia.

"How wonderful! Hephaestos the divine weapon forger is going to make a heavenly weapon for Bell personally!" Hestia says excitedly.

"Have you forgotten, Hestia? I can't forge heavenly weapons. When we arrived in the netherworld we promised not to use our divine powers anymore." Hephaestos says.

"It makes no difference. What matters is that you'll make the weapon for Bell yourself!" Hestia jumps for joy that her request has been granted.

Hephaestos goes to a bookcase and pulls out one of them, opening a secret passage. A room that seems to be the forge of the Goddess.

"Since this is our secret, you'll have to help me make a weapon for Bell." Hephaestos says, entering the room.

"Of course!" Hestia says excitedly, she tries to enter the room, but stops when she bumps into Hephaestos' back.

"In fact, I'd like to talk to this Penny guy. Would you mind if I had a word with him tomorrow?" Hephaestos asks, turning to Hestia.

In response, Hestia's eyes widen and she swallows at Hephaestos' request.

[Hestia's house.]

"I just hope the smell of smoke doesn't linger in the walls." Bell said as he cleaned the walls of the room. He sponged the walls with a mixture of soap and water.

"Sorry about that! I really didn't know it was going to explode." Penny kept trying to create the fireball. Even though he felt destroyed for having soiled the entire room with smoke. "I'm sorry I left you to clean up after yourself."

"Don't worry, you've already helped me a lot by cleaning the clothes, the bed and the sofa." Bell shrugs. He finishes cleaning one of the walls and moves on to the next. "Now there's only one wall left."

Penny tries to do the same thing as before, this time making a small hole in her finger and putting a drop of blood in the potion. The orange-red potion, expecting the worst, Penny moves the potion away from her face. And a small cloud of smoke appears.

"Did it work?" Bell asks hesitantly. He looks at the potion and gets worried.

"I don't know, but I think I'd better test it." Penny walks over to the cupboard, opening it, he takes out a sheet of paper. Placing the sheet on the table, he pours a drop of the potion, and the sheet burns in milliseconds.

"Wow! It really worked!" Bell says excitedly.

"That's what we're going to see..." Penny walks over to his God Arc and picks up his right-hand sword. Throwing the potion up, he activates Devour Mode and the Aragami devours the potion. "Let's go upstairs."

Bell and Penny walk to the top of the church. Looking around, Bell spots something that could be used as a target.

"Penny, try shooting those timbers." Bell points to some wooden boards in the corner of the church.

"Nice." Penny switches his God Arc to Pistol mode. He aims in the direction of the timbers and fires. An orange-red bullet flies towards the timbers, and a small explosion occurs.

"Wow! That was really cool!" Bell seems to have a twinkle in his eye. "Do it again!"

"Now!" Penny takes aim at a bank and fires, causing the bank to explode. "Wow, I didn't think it would be that strong."

"Do it again!" Bell says even more excitedly.

"Better not. We've already seen that it worked. Tomorrow, when we go to the guild and buy your new equipment, we'll test the fire bullets."

"Right..." Bell looks a little disappointed, but understands the situation.

"Okay, now that I've finished that, I'll try to clean up the rest of the room. I don't want Hestia to come in here and give me a scolding." Penny says to Bell.

Bell and Penny walk to the stairs and the two of them go back down to their room.

End of chapter.

Note: Since school is back in session, I don't know if I'll be able to post chapters as often. But anyway, it seems that Penny's blood managed to infect a kobold in the dungeon. But as for that, I plan to have someone create a potion that will inhibit the infection effects of Penny's blood. "Ah, but how will he fight without the Oracle Cells in his body?" The cells will still be in him, they just won't infect anyone else. But that's not now.

This chapter was shorter than the others, because I wasn't as creative, as I said, it's back to school. But anyway, I have a question. I'm thinking of making Hephaestos, with Penny's help, make Hestia's knife have an Aragami on it. Yes, I had this idea, but I don't know if it will look good in history. So I'll wait for your answers to that question.

Thanks:

blakkneko : Hephaestos getting sick of the inside of God Arc, I might even speed it up if the subject of Hestia's Knife having an Aragami, but that's only if you think it might be a good idea.

Thanks for the 37 favorites and 39 followers, see you in the next chapter!
