Author's Note: Just felt like posting an extra chapter this weekend. Happy reading!
Alexis's office
Kellie entered Alexis's office.
"Hi Alexis," Kellie said, "Your assistant said you had a few minutes before your next appointment"
"Sure," Alexis said, gesturing Kellie in, "What's on your mind?"
"First, I want to apologize for what happened at the MetroCourt the other day," Kellie said answered as she shut the door behind her and the proceeded to sit in the chair across from Alexis, "I hate that Kristina was caught between our father and I and that your lunch with Uncle Lo got messed up as a result. I really try not to engage like that when my siblings are around."
"I have to admit, I get it," Alexis said, "Your father can be infuriating."
"I know Kristina told me she was okay later on when I asked," Kellie said, "But was she really?"
Alexis considered her answer for moment, causing Kellie concern.
"Shoot, that's what I was afraid of," Kellie started.
"Hold on a minute," Alexis said, "You and Sonny going at it, Kristina is used to. That's not the issue. What happened with your father the other day made Kristina realize there were somethings she hadn't dealt with related to what happened on the island last year."
"What kind of things?" Kellie asked.
"Nothing you need be concerned with," Alexis said, "Everyone on the island during Victor's shoot out and Cyrus's hostage situation has different things to work through. If Kristina wants to share that with you, she will."
Kellie started to protest.
"Have you shared all the various things you've been dealing with since the shootout with Kristina?" Alexis continued.
"No," Kellie said, "I just feel responsible for what everyone went through in that. I was the target. Everyone else was caught in the crossfire."
"As admirable as it is that you try to take responsibility like that, you still can't shoulder everything for everyone from that," Alexis said, "You and Kristina both have a lot of family and friends to support you, right?"
"Right," Kellie said, "I'm still sorry about what happened at the MetroCourt though."
"I know you are" Alexis said, "But your uncle and I expect those kind of interruptions with six girls between us, even if you're all mostly grown up. Lorenzo and I would rather make sure you, Sam, Kristina, Molly, Lila Rae, and Sage are okay even if it means being interrupted."
"I guess as a collective group," Kellie said, "We are kind of a handful at times."
"No argument there," Alexis replied, "Now should we discuss what actually brought you by."
"Spencer," Kellie answered
"What about Spencer?" Alexis asked.
"When I had lunch with Sam and Uncle Lo the other day," Kellie replied, "We got to talking about what exactly is Spencer doing with his life."
"Not much as far as I can tell," Alexis said, "He lives off his trust fund."
"Isn't he supposed to take over Cassadine Industries eventually?" Kellie asked, "Shouldn't he be learning from Nikolas? Other than Nikolas was thought to be dead and now he's a fugitive."
"Therein lies problem," Alexis said, "It has concerned me that Spencer seems so aimless. And Nikolas should have been preparing him for that role. I don't think that he really has. But why are you asking."
"To be honest I'm not entirely sure, curiosity," Kellie answered, "Until Victor kidnapped Spencer, it never occurred to me that Spencer didn't show up at my house here like he did when I was in California."
"I heard he showed up the other day like he used to," Alexis said.
"He did," Kellie said, "I told Laura to let him know he should."
"I know he really enjoyed his visits with your family in California," Alexis said, "Granted he initially visited you because it was one more place Spencer could just go to when he wanted to leave without telling anyone."
"I had kind of figured that," Kellie said.
"But I think some part of Spencer feels like he gets some of what he's been missing when he's at your place," Alexis said, "A sense of family he rarely gets I suppose."
"I've wondered," Kellie said, "Even with the tensions between him, Jared, and Jamie and the pranks."
"It's because Jared and Jamie like to keep Spencer's ego in check, Spencer enjoys hanging around your family," Alexis said, "At least part of the reason, not that he'd actually admit it. I'm glad to see Spencer took you up on the offer."
"Me too," Kellie said, "But it also got me thinking about what he does now with this time. I offered to look into Esme for him, but I don't know if that will work out the way he wants."
"With custody of his brother," Alexis said.
"Yeah," Kellie said, "I guess I'm worried about him not having much of direction outside of that."
"I'm worried about that too," Alexis said, "But Spencer is going to do whatever it is that he wants, regardless of what any of us have to stay about it."
"I know," Kellie said, "I guess I'm wondering if I should talk to him about that though."
"Just be there for Spencer," Alexis said, "make sure he knows your home is open to him. I think he really needs that more than anything right now. I think if you're supposed to bring that up what he's doing with his life currently, I think the opportunity will present itself."
"That makes sense," Kellie said.
"In the meantime, I'll bring it up," Alexis said, "And try to find out if Nicholas taught him anything about running Cassadine industries."
"If he's annoyed, I just might hear about it," Kellie said.
"At which point, the opportunity will have presented itself," Alex said, "and you can encourage Spencer to find some of that direction."
