Third POV:
As soon as Bazz B and Liltotto were far away to not be heard but not reaching the barrier keeping them in place yet, the former glared at the latter. "Don't tell me you're actually gonna agree to this bullshit."
"Look, I hate this as much as you do. Probably even more so," Liltotto retorted, her glare showing the defeat she was feeling. "But we really don't have other options. The guy that brought us here is gonna do whatever he can to stay alive, and that means agreeing to his orders if he has to."
"So we should just bend over!?" Bazz B practically growled, barely holding back from shouting and would have done so if not for the fact he didn't want the others to hear their discussion.
"No, it means we just have to get our act together for now," Liltotto sighed, taking a quick glance at the guy who summoned us. "We were brought here to help that guy start a Guild or whatever, not to be servants again. We make a deal with him and make it clear."
"Even if he agrees, you actually think we can trust what he says?" Bazz B questioned.
Liltotto shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know. But, I do know one thing," she once again took a glance at their summoner. "He's just a moron trying to stay alive... Those kind of people never have ulterior motives."
Bazz B stared at Liltotto for a few seconds before gritting his teeth and kicking the ground. "This is bullshit," he growled through his teeth.
"If you actually have better ideas, I'm all ears," Liltotto said, getting fed up of simply hearing complaints. All she received was another click of Bazz B's tongue.
First POV: Thompson.
"Okay, how do we do this your majesty?" I asked Yhwach.
"First, kneel," I followed his order and got on one knee with my head down.
Yhwach then raised his hand. In a flash of blue flames, a wide cup appeared on his palm. He raised his other hand and placed it over the cub before clinching his fist hard.
Soon, blood began powering down the cup from his fist. When the cup was filled, he handed it to me. I looked at the blood and hesitated. Not out of doubt or anything, but because I was literally about to drink blood.
Steeling my nerves, I placed the cup on my lips and began drinking while raising my head. When the last drop of blood went down my throat and I can see the cup had a Quincy's cross at the bottom, I let out a breath I was holding and nearly dropped the cup.
Something in me changed.
I can feel something flowing through me. I didn't know if it was Spiritual Energy or Yhwach's power turning me to a Quincy, but I knew it was there. I also felt something being filled.
Hearing that those blessed by Yhwach become 'complete' is one thing. Actually experiencing it is nothing like you'd expect.
I don't know how to describe it. It's like I was born with something missing, but I never noticed because I was born this way. But, now, that something isn't missing anymore.
Looking at my hands, I saw blue, glowing vein-like patterns on them or a second. When I blinked, they were gone and my hands looked normal. While the feeling of something filling my veins is gone, the feeling of being 'complete' is still there.
"From now on, stand tall as a Quincy, Thompson Vermillion," Yhwach said, smiling and looking down at me like a project that was just finished. "Your Schrift is L, the Learner. You are able to learn instantly all there is to study and be taught."
"Ah, alright," I nodded as I stood back up, choosing to ignore how he knew my name despite me never telling him.
I won't lie, I was kind of hoping for something broken like the Miracle or the Visionary. But, I guess this isn't so bad. It could have been way worse, honestly.
"So... do you mind releasing us?" Askin spoke up, making me turn to him. "I kind of miss actually feeling the air."
"Right, sorry about that," I said before I stopped and remembered we were missing two. "What about Bazz B and Liltotto?" I asked.
"We're right here," Liltotto said as she and Bazz B walked back to us. "We want to make a deal."
"O... kay," I said as I blinked at them. "What kind of deal?"
"We'll help you with the Guild stuff if you release us, but only if you agree we work WITH you, not FOR you, and certainly not for him," she finished while pointing at Yhwach.
I raised an eyebrow at them. "You do realise that I answer to him myself now, right?" I asked.
"That's our deal. Take it or leave it," Bazz B replied, glaring at me.
I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. They obviously wanted ME to work out the details. Turning to Yhwach, I began explaining since he can't see or hear them, "Bazz B and Liltotto are willing to help me but they want guarantee that they're JUST helping me. They don't want to work under you, your majesty."
"It makes little difference in who they believe is in charge," Yhwach replied. The message was clear. He was in charge either way, and judging by the glares the two sent him, they noticed. "Even should they retaliate, there is nothing they can do to save themselves from my grasp."
"Well, you heard him," I turned back to them. "I personally agree to your terms. I'm really doing this to stay alive. You okay with that?"
They kept glaring at Yhwach for a couple more seconds and eventually nodded. When they did, another screen popped up in front of me.
Give Quincy a full state of existence?
Yes?
No?
This time, I didn't really hesitate at pressing yes. The air became heavy again, but on a far more manageable level than Yhwach.
"Ah, that's better," Askin said as he stretched his back.
Jugram took a deep breath, looking a bit relieved, Gérard stretched his arms around, Bazz B moved his neck around and popped the bones there, and Liltotto raised her hands and stretched.
"So," Liltotto turned to me when they all finished adjusting. "What now?" Before I can answer, something hard fell on my head.
"Ah! Son of a-!?" I stopped myself as I saw a bag in front of my feet. "The hell did this come from?"
"I didn't see or sense anything," Jugram said as he looked around the sky.
Having a guess where -or specifically who- the bag came from, I opened it and looked inside. There was some paper money, Jewels I guess, and a small book.
I took out the small book and looked at the cover... "Oh are you kidding me?" I groaned.
"What is it?" Askin questioned.
In response, I just turned the book around and showed the cover to them. Askin and Bazz B snorted, Gérard chuckled, Liltotto smirked, and Yhwach and Jugram raised an eyebrow.
The book's cover says 'How to start a Guild for idiots'.
It doesn't even say 'dummies', it outright says 'idiots'.
