As I was reading, reluctantly, the book that Nyarlathotep sent me. I was walking out of the forest with the Quincy and heading back to the town.
"So, where are we exactly?" Askin questioned as we walked out of the tree line and walked into the streets of the town.
"I don't know," I replied shrugging my shoulders. "I was kind of going through some heavy emotional stuff since I got here. I didn't really ask around for where I an as much as ask where can I stay."
"We are at Era. At least that is what this city is called," Yhwach stated as we kept walking.
We were getting a lot of stares. Particularly Yhwach who was walking at the front of the group. Gérard was a close second because of his size. Jugram was equal to Gérard but most of the stares he got were from women.
"Oh, that's actually really convenient," I stated, flipping to the next page after finishing the one I was in. "This is where the Magical Counicl HQ is located. I guess if we wanna start a Guild, it'd be here."
"Magical Council?" Jugram asked, turning to look at me.
"They basically govern everything in the Magical World. Think of them as the government that Guilds answer to," I replied as I flipped to the next page... only for it to be blank.
I blinked and realised that I had actual reached the last page of the book. The book was small. It wasn't big by any means. In fact, it may as well be a tour guide, but I haven't been reading it for five minutes, tops.
I'm not THAT fast of a reader, and I'm pretty sure I didn't skip anything. Maybe I just didn't notice time pass?
"You already done? That was fast," Liltotto commented, looking at me with a raised eyebrow.
"Maybe I missed or skipped something by accident?" I said as I opened the book again to rummage through the pages.
"It's most likely your Schrift," Jugram stated, making me stop and look at him. "Your Schrift most likely helps you process information while learning quickly."
I mean... I guess that makes sense. My Schrift is about learning after all, so I guess it only makes sense to have it help me process the information I get at a decent pase.
"We're here," Yhwach, who was leading our group, stopped and we all looked at where he took us.
It was a large, castle-like building with a large sign that says 'Magical Counicl Administration Center'.
... Man, having an all seeing king around sure is convenient.
"Are you simply going to stand there?" Yhwach asked me.
Taking a deep breath as I realised he wants me to go in first, I stepped forward. "Well, time to start a Guild," I said as I opened the door and walked in.
The place as big as it looked on the outside. There was several large banners of hanging down the walls. They had a mark that looked like some royal emblem, so I guess they're the mark of the Fiore Kingdom or Royal family.
There was also several tables with receptionists waiting at each one. Each table had a sign hanging under it from the ceiling. The first table's sign said 'labor administration', the second said 'office work administration', the third said 'Military administration', and the last one said 'Guild administration'.
The last table, unsurprisingly, had fewer people than the other tables. In fact, it only had two of them, which is something I'm thankful for, honestly.
I hate waiting in lines.
Walking to the Guild administration table, I stopped at the back of the line and waited for the two people in front of me to be done. It didn't take long, they signed papers, the receptionist gave them something, and they walked away.
I walked in front of the table and looked at the receptionist. A brown haired girl with matching eyes wearing the most typical wizard robes I've ever seen with blue highlights.
"Good day, how may I help you?" She greeted.
"Hi, I'd like to form a Guild," I said.
"What kind?"
"Uh... Wizard Guild," for a moment, I forgot there was actually different kinds of Guilds.
The girl wrote down something and took out a large book. It was actually big enough that it actually made a loud thud when she placed it on the table.
"This is the rule book for Guild Masters and Guilds in general. Have the person that is to be the Guild Master read this and prepare for a test alongside preparing five hundred thousand Jewels as an administration fee. The test can be taken any time within the this or the next week, after that, a late fee will be added to the administration fee. Lastly, you will need to come in with at least five Mages to start your Guild with," the girl explained before handing me a piece of paper. "Please have the Guild Master fill this paper and come with it when they're ready to take the test."
"Alright, thank you," I said trying not to gap at her.
I mean, they seriously don't screw around, huh? It makes sense, sure, but I didn't expect them to have something like a test for a book as thick as my fist within two weeks time.
Then again, this is probably a test in itself? I guess a Guild Master is supposed to handle this level of work easily for them to manage a Guild and the workload that comes with it.
Picking up the book and paper, I walked back to the group of Quincy. "So, how'd it go?" Askin questioned.
"I have to take a taste and pay a huge sum for the administration fee anytime I can actually finish this book within two weeks," I explained, showing off the large book. "I'll also need you five to come with me when I do as the minimum requirement to start a Guild," I then remembered there was another person here. "Oh, uh... do you wish to join as well, your majesty?"
Yhwach scoffed. "I have agreed to give you time, not to assist you."
"Fair enough," I shrugged it off and started heading out. "Let's go find a place to stay."
"Do you actually know where that is this time?" Liltotto asked, probably hoping I have a plan this time.
"Actually, I do," lucky for her, I did.
We just went back to the in that I stayed here the first time. I told the owner that the Rune Knights found the bandits and got my money back, which he seemed to believe. Then I paid a room for everyone for the night and had to pay for dinner.
Nyarlathotep gave me one million Jewels. A room in this Inn is fifteen thousand per night. I paid for one night each of us and there's seven in our group, and dinner itself was another fifteen thousand, so in the end I had to pay one hundred and twenty thousand Jewels.
No matter what currency you use, seeing such big numbers go is always painful.
"You know, for a being that seems to use you for amusement, this Nyarala- whatever sure seems to help you," Askin commented as we all sat down on a table.
Yhwach and Jugram sat at a different one, since the tables weren't big enough for our entire group. Though, I think he just didn't like sitting with us.
"He's not helping me. He's just making sure his entertainment gets started already," I replied as I wrote down on the application I was supposed to bring to the test. I had to ask the owner for a spare pen to do that. "It's basically like pushing the skip button on ads before your video starts. Why watch me waste time getting the money doing work when it can give me the money so I can start struggling with the whole guild business."
Some of the stuff they wanted me to fill out were easy, like name and age. Some took a hit of thinking, like where I came from and my magic. I just wrote down 'Magnolia' because it's the first name to pop into my head when remembering the towns in Fairy Tail. As for magic, I just wrote 'personal information', which was actually an option since it literally says on the paper.
Though, I did get to a part that I was lost in. "What should we call our Guild?"
"What's wrong with just calling us Quincy?" Gérard asked.
"Guild Names can't be, well, just a name. They apparently need to be a form of phrase or title," I explained, remembering the content of the book I read earlier about starting a Guild.
"Can you give us examples on Guild Names?" Jugram asked from the table beside us.
I raised my fingers and began counting. "Fairy Tail, that is 'Tail' as in the body part, not 'Tale' as in story, Phantom Lord, Lamia Scale, Blue Pegasus, Mermaid Heel, and Quadru Cerburus."
"I'm guessing each of those names isn't just a fancy title and is supposed to represent something?" Asking questioned and I nodded.
I hummed in thought before noticing a trait all the Quincy around me, even their king have, and an idea popped in my head. "How about... Pentagon Cross?"
"As in, the five pointed cross of Quincy?" Liltotto raised an eyebrow at me.
"Yeah, it fits, doesn't it?" I asked with a smile.
Bazz B shrugged. "I guess it's good enough. I'm okay with it."
"The five pointed cross is a sign all Quincy carry. I see no reason it cannot represent us in this world as well," Jugram hummed while nodding his head.
"Ha! Not bad, newbie!" Gérard slapped my back, nearly crashing me into the table. "Looks like you got a good head on your shoulders."
"Uh... thanks?" I replied. I held back the groan from his slap and leaned back on my chair. "I guess I'll need to study for the next few days for the test and-"
"You will be taking the test tomorrow morning," Yhwach stated.
... "I'm sorry?" I asked, turning to him.
Yhwach stared at me with a firm gaze. "That is an order."
... I just stared at him with my mouth agape. I looked at the others and they were no help. Jugram was giving me a look that was basically threatening me with harm if I didn't say yes, Bazz B and Liltotto didn't seem to care, Askin just looked away while rubbing the back of his head, and Gérard was smiling and waiting for my reaction.
With a defeated sigh, I nodded. "Yes... Your majesty."
I'm gonna have to cram that giant book in one freaking night and take a test tomorrow to determine whether or not I'll stay alive or die by failing an Eldritch Horror.
... Now that I think about it, if you take out the Eldritch Horror part, this is just like college.
