It was dinnertime and everybody met in the kitchen. I wanted to be around everybody so they could hear about my tour that's coming up soon.
"You look like you have something to share, Jesse," Danny replied.
"Yes," I said.
"What is it you have to share with us, Uncle Jesse?" Stephanie asked.
I have three nieces, and she was one of them.
"I have a few tour dates coming up, so I might try to stay here when you have friends coming out," I said, remembering the letter DJ told me about earlier.
"How did you know about DJ's friends coming out?" Michelle asked.
"She showed me the letter, Michelle. It's on your desk, Danny, if you want to see it," I told him.
"I'll look at it after we're done eating. Thank you for saying something, DJ," Danny replied.
"You're welcome," she said.
So we ate lasagna for dinner that night and my best friend, Joey decided to make dinner, so we went ahead and agreed on it.
Joey might not be able to come on the tour with me this time, so I don't know what he will be doing while I'm out.
"Uncle Jesse, you have to stay when DJ's friends show up," Michelle told me.
"There's no promising, Michelle. The dates recently came out a few months ago," I told her.
"Why didn't you wait to tell us then instead of waiting until last minute?" Joey asked.
"I don't know, Joey. I guess I forgot about it," I answered.
"Uncle Jesse, you can always reschedule," Michelle pointed out.
Michelle is the cutest of all three of them.
"I'm not in charge of scheduling, Michelle. You'll have to talk with my manager about it, but I don't think he wants to do that on short notice," I told her.
"Jesse's right, Michelle," Joey agreed.
"Uncle Jesse," Michelle said as we saw tears come down.
I had to get up from my chair to give Michelle a hug.
"Michelle, plans are already made. We've been through this before," I reminded her.
"I know, Uncle Jesse. You better promise not to be late when DJ's friends come out," Michelle replied.
"No promises, Michelle, but I could always come in a day or two late," I said.
"That's not fair, Uncle Jesse. You have to be here on the first day," Michelle said.
"I'll do what I can, Michelle," I said, giving her another hug.
"All right. It won't be the same without you here if you come back a day or two late," Michelle said.
She's been like this every time I have something coming up like this.
"Are you going with Uncle Jesse, Joey?" DJ asked.
"Not this time," he answered.
"What are you going to be doing then?" Michelle asked.
"Hang out with you," he answered.
"That's telling her, Joey," I told him.
"Thanks, Jesse. I'll be sure to help Michelle stay distracted while you're gone," Joey told me.
"You can do that," I agreed.
We talked for the rest of the meal, but I didn't know what DJ's friends had in mind on where to stay, but we'll figure it out.
