Blu cruised through the empty countryside that were the southern states, driving across the endless strip of dusty tarmac. The book was still firm on the accelerator and the car was absolutely flying through the countryside. The radio was blaring "Sweet Home Alabama'' out through the open windows and into the cool air.
(yes, i do know the connotations of that song but it's still a good song!)
Blu lounged back in the car seat, humming along to the tune. He had one foot resting in the wheel and had managed to position the rear view mirror in a way that let him see the road despite his diminutive height. He sighed contentedly, almost falling asleep. It was just so relaxing after his previous few days of torment with the whole Nigel business.
Suddenly, he was rudely awakened by a harsh beeping sound, he sat up and craned his neck to try and see what was making that sound. On the modern looking dashboard of the car were lots of colourful and shiny things but one stood out as it was red and flashing.
"Uhg, i'm low on gas," he complained ,"and i'm stuck somewhere in god awful nowhere"
He looked out over the flat empty land and through the clear air, he could see what looked to be a small town. As the car rumbled closer he saw that it was a small village with the centrepiece of it being a Petrol station.
(i'm not sure if towns like this exist, i'm not an american)
"Thank god," Blu said to himself.
He steered the car towards the station, the vehicle still going at full pelt. Once The car was fairly close, Blu hopped casually down and jumped onto the brakes. The car spun like it was in an action movie, spraying general debris everywhere. Then quickly ground to a halt and Blu hopped out like nothing happened.
He flapped over to the rack of pipes and yanked one of them out. He then dragged it over to the car and jammed the pipe into the refuelling hole. He sat down in the shade and waited happily for the tank to fill up, just enjoying the breeze and the lack of humidity.
After the car was refuelled he flew into the shop to pay. He landed in front of the automatic doors but they didn't open. He jumped about a bit until he figured out he had to fly up, directly at the sensor to get it to activate.
The employee looked up from her newspaper and saw this vivid blue bird fly into her petrol station shop. She clumsily pulled out her phone and began to film the pretty looking bird.
Blu flapped up to the counter and alighted on the side.
"Hi there, I've just gotta buy some gas."
He rummaged about in his Fanny pack and pulled out some cash and placed it on the counter. He looked up at the cashier who was still filming the bird, holding the phone up to her face as if hiding behind it.
"Please don't sit there like that," Blu requested pushing the phone down onto the table with his wing ,"it's terribly bad manners"
The employee was dumbstruck and continued to stare at the parrot
"Oh! Can I also get a chocolate bar and some water" Blu asked, grabbing a bar and a bottle from the shelves just in front of the counter.
"You want to buy this?" the cashier asked, holding, "and you have money."
Blu nodded, wondering what was so hard to understand.
"And is that your car out there," she asked again pointing out the window..
Blu nodded again.
The cashier propped her phone up so it was still pointing at blu. She tried to do it subtly but it was painfully obvious. She took the money and gave the bird some change. The bird popped the coins in its bag and then flew off out the door.
Blu flew over to where the refuelling tube was in the car and pulled it out the hole. He then dropped into the car through the open window and sat down in the driver's seat. He turned the CD player back on and the same loop of Sweet home Alabama played at full volume.
"YEE HAWWW!'' Blu yelled out the window as his car manically shot forward and continued along the long empty road.
