The house is quiet, wrapped in the kind of stillness that only comes with a morning free of obligations. No alarms, no security briefings, no motorcades waiting outside. Just warmth, soft sheets, and the slow rhythm of breath shared between two bodies intertwined.
Fitz stirs first, shifting slightly beneath the blankets. He blinks, the soft morning light filtering through the curtains casting Olivia in a golden glow. She's still asleep, her face relaxed, her breathing steady. He smiles to himself, pressing his lips to her bare shoulder before tracing slow, lazy circles against her back with his fingertips.
She hums softly in response, shifting closer, her body molding against his. "Mmm, what time is it?" she murmurs, voice thick with sleep.
"Doesn't matter," he whispers, pressing another kiss to her skin. "No schedules today. Just us."
A slow, satisfied sigh escapes her as she turns to face him, her fingers slipping beneath the covers to rest against his chest. "That's nice."
He chuckles, pulling her impossibly closer, letting his nose skim along the curve of her jaw before kissing the corner of her mouth. "Karen and Gerry took Teddy for the weekend. We have the whole house to ourselves."
Her lips quirk in amusement. "And you're still here in bed? That's new."
"I'm savoring this," he admits, his hand smoothing over her waist. "You. The quiet. The fact that we don't have to rush anywhere."
Olivia sighs, sinking deeper into his embrace. Outside, Artemis stirs from her spot at the foot of the bed, stretching lazily before settling back down, content in the peacefulness surrounding them.
For once, they aren't running. They aren't fixing, planning, or fighting the world. They are just here, wrapped in warmth, in love, in the simple perfection of a Sunday morning with nowhere to be but each other's arms.
