The wind howls outside, rattling the windows as thick snow blankets the world beyond. The blizzard came in fast, trapping them inside with no choice but to wait it out. Not that Olivia minds—not when she's curled up on the couch, wrapped in Fitz's arms, a fire crackling in the hearth.
At their feet, Artemis stretches lazily, letting out a satisfied huff before curling back into a warm ball of fur. The golden retriever is as content as they are, settled into the comfort of the storm.
Olivia lets out a contented sigh, pressing further into Fitz's warmth. "We should probably check the generator."
Fitz hums, lazily tracing circles against her back. "Later. You're comfortable. I'm comfortable. We're not moving."
She smiles against his chest. "You're just using this as an excuse to keep me here."
He chuckles. "Guilty."
The firelight flickers across the room, casting golden hues over their entwined bodies. Olivia feels his lips press softly against the top of her head before he murmurs, "This reminds me of the first time I kissed you."
She tilts her head up, amusement dancing in her eyes. "The first time? You mean when you ambushed me in your office?"
Fitz smirks, unrepentant. "You kissed me back."
Olivia rolls her eyes. "That's beside the point."
He leans in, lips hovering over hers, teasing. "The point is, you wanted it as much as I did. And I remember every single detail."
Her breath hitches as his lips brush against hers, slow and deliberate. The fire crackles beside them, the storm rages outside, but here, in this moment, it's just them.
Artemis lets out a sleepy sigh, shifting against Olivia's feet, completely oblivious to the moment unfolding above her.
Fitz pulls back slightly, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Still want me to check the generator?"
Olivia loops her arms around his neck, pulling him back in. "Later."
And just like that, the snowstorm fades into the background, forgotten in the heat between them.
