This chapter is about to get wild. Trust me. It'll be the climactic end to the fights as of right now!
Guess who's also a few chapters ahead so we have content this week? This guy!
I hope you guys enjoy!
Diana made a face. She had been off searching for more of the children to fight, but so far she hadn't been able to find any. Granted that last batch had nearly taken her down, but she'd been saved at the last second by Zeus and the others. After that she'd found the Sabertooth lot, the ones who'd taken down Apollo.
She had been sure to give them their comeuppance. They'd fought valiantly, but it had been for nothing in the end. They were too weak to fight her under the moon and in her War form. They crumpled so easily. Now that she'd dealt with them, she needed to find someone else to focus on. That, or the girl. But she had no idea where she might've been. As she thought, her foot hit something as she walked into it. Looking down, her eyes widened. Lying below her was a darkened metal torso, and an unresponsive head. Her eyes widened.
"Hephaestus?" She asked weakly, leaning down to inspect the metal man. She knew his face all to well. It was him. "Who did this to you? I sweat to god I'll-"
A guttural growl cut Diana off. Slowly looking up, her eyes landed on the figure crouched by the bushes. There, glaring at her, was a human form coated in a shiny metal. Metal wings sprouted from it's back and flapped as a warning, Somehow flesh-like yet still metallic. Black hair was barely visible on his head in the shadows, and under his bangs showed angry red eyes.
"Did you do this?" She demanded. The creature growled in response, standing up fully. He had a hole in his chest that was singed, but it didn't seem to be bothering him at all. Diana frowned and readied her bow, aiming it at the bow.
"Answer me!" She shouted. "Did you hurt Hephaestus like this?! I swear I'll-!" Another angry roar escaped the man's mouth, before his wings flapped and he launched himself at Diana without a second word. Diana let arrows fly, but they were sliced apart by weapons that sprouted out of his arm. He reached her and raised his right arm, morphing it into a blade. He swung it down at her, but Diana dodged it. The blade easily cleaved into the earth and back out again, and the bow glared at her again as he stood up straight.
"That look..." Diana hissed. "That power...What are you?"
Another angry roar was her response. She gritted her teeth at this.
"Fine. If you want to fight, I'll fight you! Come and get me!"
Poseidon's words set everyone on edge, no one making a move. Both Olympians watched them quietly, no moving an inch. Damien gulped and shared a gaze at Tristan and Gin, who both looked ready to raise hell to try and get Abigail back. What were they supposed to do to get ahead of this?
"Crash, Galatine!" Damien's eyes widened at this, a figure bursting out of the brush. A sword was brought down on Poseidon, but he easily brought his arm up and coated it in a torrent to block it. The magic clashed against one another, and the surprise attacker was pushed back.
"Quinn?" Tristan demanded. The blonde man laughed as she stood and twirled the deep blue sword in his hand.
"Nice to see ya, buddy." Quinn said as he pushed his hair out of his eyes. "Any reason you haven't saved Abby yet?"
"We're working on it," Gin said. "How long have you been here?"
"I was tailing them for a bit," he said, gesturing to Dionysus and Poseidon. "Heard your conversation. Guess we ain't getting out of this one?"
"Nope," Tristan said. Both men watched each other for a moment, before Quinn smirked. Then, Tristan rose his hands.
"Divine Territory!" He shouted. The dome of holy magic encircled their leg of the forest, and Quinn jumped again. "Quinn's magic is ten times stronger! His weapon magic is ten times stronger!" Quinn's blade glowed a bright blue, and as he brought it crashing down on Poseidon's arm again, the explosion of magic sent Damien flying backwards, his flight stopped only by a thick tree in his path.
"This dome," he heard Poseidon say. Looking up, he saw that Quinn had forced Poseidon a fair distance away, the area between them scorched by the sheer power exerted. "It changes the properties of the magic within it."
"I see your quick to the punch!" Tristan said, hands still together. "Let's see how you handle your magic not handling the way you want too! Poseidon is ten times weaker! Dionysus is ten times drunker!" At this, Dionysus nearly fell over, moaning to himself.
"Wha...?" He asked. "I didn have no more liqur..."
"Steady, you fool!" Poseidon shouted. "We have to fight off these children, or it's all for nought! Do it!" Dionysus was still stumbling, but he seemed to understand.
"Ah...Somefun about Bacchus...Help me..." A bright light enveloped the man, making Damien look away, As he looked back, he saw that the man had changed clothing. His robe was now covered in armour, and while it was clear he was still drunk it wasn't hurting him as much as before.
"I can handle one of em.." He mumbled. "Leave em to me-!"
"Good," Poseidon replied. "I'll handle the sword boy, if I can. Target the black haired one. He's the one whose controlling the property of magic in here.
"Okay boss..." Poseidon pressed his lips together, looking back at them.
"I'm sorry it had to come to this," he said. "I wish there was another way. But there isn-!"
BOOM!
Damien jumped as an explosion went off, trees off to the left getting blown away by the blast. A woman flew through the clearing it had created and landed on her hands and knees, panting. Damien didn't recognise her.
"B-Beast..." She hissed as she looked up. "Monster! What are you?!" Her question was answered as an ear splitting roar came from the treeline. Trees were thrown outwards at her, but she dodged them all as a black mass flew out of the trees and landed in between the two groups of people. Damien couldn't recognise it, as he wasn't looking it in the face, but he sensed a terrible magic. It reminded him of...Taisho? Vantros? I couldn't be!
The being had dark, metallic wings sprouting from it's back. His head was marred by the multi-pronged horns that sprouted from his head. As he stood, Damien saw dark red pools of rage under his bangs.
"What the hell is that?!" Quinn shouted.
"Diana, status!" Poseidon shouted.
"It's a monster!" The woman, Diana, shouted back. "I can't kill it! He's so fast!"
"That aura," Tristan said from Damien's left. "It feels like Gin."
"It's demonic power," Gin answered, sweat dripping down his face. "Damien, do you know another Demon Lord?"
"No," Damien said. "I haven't met one since you."
"Demon Lord?" Poseidon asked. "This boy...Oh no. It's one of the boys from Devil Advocate."
Devil Advocate?
As Damien looked closely at the boy, his stomach dropped. He recognised the mans face now. He knew who this was.
"T-Tetsu?" He asked weakly. At this the figure whirled in his direction, an absolutely livid glare on his face. Damien froze in place as Tetsu began to wander up to him, like an animal inspecting something unfamiliar. As he got closer, Tetsu sniffed at him. Damien dared not move, fearing the boy might tear him apart. After a few mortifying seconds Tetsu's face softened slightly, as if he'd recognised who he was looking at. He backed off at this, and his body language became much more relaxed.
"Tetsu?" Damien asked feebly. Tetsu merely nodded, as if waiting for instruction. "What happened to you? What is this power?" The man didn't respond, just eyed Damien quietly. "Are...Are you waiting for me to tell you what to do?" Tetsu nodded again.
"Damien what the hell is going on?" Bella asked from his right. Damien wished he could tell her. He'd fully expected Tetsu to tear him apart, as he knew what it was like when someone wasn't in control of themselves. Was this reaction because Tetsu recognised him? Or did it have something to do with him consuming Taisho's soul and to an extent, taking Vantros for his own? Was this power born of Taisho to begin with? It sure felt like it.
"Tetsu," he said, finally speaking. "We need to take down The Olympians. Those two men, over there. And that woman you chased here. Can you help us?" Tetsu simply nodded, before whirling and facing The Olympians as ordered, a feral snarl escaping his mouth.
"I'll ask later," he said, regaining his confidence. Even if Tetsu wasn't in control of himself, this put them at a massive advantage now. After all, a three versus four was much better than the alternative. After all, Bella, Gin and himself weren't going to be much use as they were. At least he had a baser form to work with.
"It seems I have no choice," Poseidon said, slowly putting Abigail down. "I'll need to go all out in order for us to achieve our goals."
"Ah, shit..." Quinn hissed. "You may wanna amp up the power, Tristan!" Tristan nodded, bringing his hands together.
"Poseidon-!" Tristan stumbled backwards at this, clutching his chest. Getting a better look, Damien saw an arrow protruding from his body, and it made him pale.
"Tristan?" He asked.
"I'm fine," he replied. "Bitch shot me." Diana, despite her prior terror, seemed to have calmed now.
"Don't interrupt Lord Poseidon," she threatened. This was all the time Poseidon needed.
"I call upon the power of the sea," he said. "I ask that it imbue me with the strength to defeat my foes. My name with become Neptune. I will become an unstoppable tsunami and wash away my opposition." A bright light enveloped the man, once again making Damien why away. Once he looked back, Poseidon had changed.
Instead of his robes, he now donned a full suit of blue and black armour. In his right hand he held a trident, and his eyes radiated power.
"Now," he said. "Allow us to begin. Diana, Bacchus. Deal with the dome one first. He's empowering his friends and leaving us weak."
"Yezzir," Bacchus replied.
"Understood," Diana said. Damien pressed his mouth together as he raise his hand, taking over into his base form.
"Protect Tristan," he instructed. "With Divine Territory we can win."
"Got it," Quinn said. Tetsu just roared, which seemed to signify that the battle had begun.
Tetsu launched forward, creating a massive crater as he did so. He reared back and morphed his left arm into a spiked club, swinging it down at Neptune. The man blocked it with his trident, easily shoving the man off of him. Damien took his chance and went into the sky. He brought darkness together in his hands, aiming at Diana.
"Darkness Stream!" With this shout, darkness launched out of his hands, forming countless tendrils and straight down at the woman, who aimed her bow up at him. She fired arrows as the multitude of tendrils Damien created soared for her, and they exploded against one another. Gritting his teeth, Damien flew through the smoke and raised his hand, aiming to strike her down. His strike was met by the bow, and the two clashed face to face. No matter how he clawed, she met him with the bow and prevented a strike from landing. Rearing back after a strike, Diana twirled and kicked Damien square in the chest and forced him back. As she landed upright she nocked an arrow and aimed dead at him, letting it fly. Damien swiped through it and flew for her again, empowering his claws with darkness. He swiped at her again, but was ready for the dodge. As she reared away, he brought both of his hands together.
"Demon Blast!" He shouted, the small ball of magic in his hands exploding outwards as he aimed at Diana. The woman was thrown backwards but quickly recovered, nocking another arrow and firing it. Damien made to move, but soon he was dodging barrage after barrage as Diana fired them so quickly he barely had time to react.
"Damien's demon form is ten times faster!" Damien heard Tristan shout out. Smirking, Damien came out from behind the tree he'd been hiding behind, blasting towards Diana in the blink of an eye. She had no time to react to his presence, and he was able to get a decent hit off that she hadn't been able to block. Sliding back, Diana grit her teeth and fired off another volley of arrows, and Damien dodged them with ease. He soared in and out of all the arrows, aiming to bring his claws down on her once again.
Until arrows flew straight into his back.
Groaning, Damien flew past her and landed hard on the ground. Reaching back he felt around for the arrows, finally finding them. Ripping them out was not optimal, as he knew arrowheads could do a lot of damage on the way out. Coming to his conclusion, he snapped the arrows so that he could fly better, before standing back up.
"Not coming out?" Diana demanded over the explosions that surrounded them. "Did I surprise you with that upwards volley?"
"Maybe," Damien said, not wanting to admit she had. He hadn't even noticed she'd fired arrows upwards, and now he'd paid for it. "Just give me a minute."
"Well, that's not gonna happen." Damien's eyes widened as he realised what that meant. Flying out, he stood in between Diana and Tristan, the man focused on Quinn and Bacchus' sprawling battle instead.
"Ah, you remembered." Diana said with a grin. "That's good. You'll need to remember you aren't my priority right now. He is." Frowning, Damien raised his hands and waited for her to make a move. He tried to think up a plan at the same time, but he couldn't come up with anything. He was all out of ideas as of now.
Turning to his right, Damien noticed Athena was still sitting where they'd left her, a stunned look on her face. He could only assume The Olympians intended to save her once this was over, but for now she just kind of sat there.
"Don't look away, boy!" Damien turned back just in time to block Diana, who'd rushed him with unforeseen speed and slammed a glowing white arm into him. The glow burned at his arm, and it gave Damien no choice but to push her away. As she flew back, she nocked an arrow and let it fly, lodging itself in Damien's shoulder. Diana landed low to the ground, aiming her bow at him again. The two entered a momentary standstill, glaring at each other. Damien had been ready to request another power up, but he was interrupted by an explosion.
Getting send to the ground, Damien looked up as Neptune stumbled backwards, holding his trident in front of himself. He easily blocked the lightning-quick strikes that Tetsu threw at him, an angry roar escaping the mans lips every time he failed.
"Your power lacks control, Devil boy." He said as he blocked more attacks. "It's a blind, angry rage. Even a child could block you!" Pushing Tetsu back, Neptune reared back and rammed the tipped end into Tetsu's chest, and then forced him into the ground with a massive thud. Damien watched as the smoke cleared, the trident clearly dug into Tetsu's body. The man roared as he pulled at it desperately to get it out, but it didn't do much.
"Tetsu!" He shouted, watching blood drip from the wounds. With a mighty roar Tetsu pushed with all his might, and Neptune was shoved off. Using his wings Tetsu flew high into the air, morphed his arms into massive serrated blades, and flew back down. In the blink of an eye the trident and blades connected, the wind reacting and pushing everyone else away as they pushed against one another. Sparks flew every which way for the interaction, setting the remaining plants and trees on fire as the two struggled. Despite being the more intimidating of the pair due to his roaring, it was clear Tetsu wasn't making any headway.
Until another blade morphed out of the ones Neptune was blocking. The blade plunged into the mans upper body, making him wince. The trident was pushed back slightly, and Tetsu used this to his advantage. He grabbed at the weapon and managed to get it, using all of his might to throw Neptune into a nearby tree that had somehow survived the battles. Tetsu plunged at him with another blade, Neptune blocking it. The two entered another vicious power struggle, Tetsu growling like a wounded animal.
"Hey, Tristan!" This was Quinn, and Damien turned to find him fighting Bacchus off as best he could. "A little bit of help here?!"
"I'm trying!" Tristan shouted. "Every time I try and voice a command, these guys come after me! I've only been able to get a few off!"
"Try harder!" Quinn replied as he fought back. "We can't lose this, you know that!" Gritting his teeth, Tristan brought his hands together again. Sensing something off Damien moved on instinct and caught Diana in the midst of firing off more arrows. Slashing through them, he moved to attack her. Once again gracefully dodging him, Diana's body glowed white as she stepped under the moonlight.
"I'm already done with this fight," she said flatly. Taking another arrow out of her seemingly bottomless quiver, she nocked it and aimed it at Damien. The tip glowed white with magic, and this sent off warning bells in Damien's head. "Get out of our way, boy. It's over."
"It's not over!" Damien shouted. "I'm still standing! So are they! As long as we're standing, we'll be able to take you o-!"
"Gah!" Eyes widening, Damien turned on a dime to see what had happened. Tristan, their back line of support, had been stabbed through the side of his stomach by a skeleton that had come from nowhere.
"Tristan!" He shouted worriedly as the skeleton took it's weapon out of his body. Tristan held at his wound weakly, and before he could move the skeleton wrapped it's bony arms around him and kept him from moving.
"Hey hey hey," a new voice said. "What's going on here, huh? A buncha kids are seriously holding you up, Neptune?" The new man that approached them wore a dark suit, and had eyes and hair just as dark to match. That wasn't the problem though.
He had a pink haired somebody slung over his shoulder.
"Luna!" He shouted worriedly, getting no response from the girl.
"Hades," Neptune said over Tetsu's angry roars. "Do you have here?"
"What does it look like?" Hades demanded. "I got her. The old man should be here shortly. Shall I help you out?"
"No, that won't be necessary." Turning again, Damien watched as Neptune used Tetsu's anger to his advantage, tripping the man as he pushed forward. Without giving him a second, Neptune spun his trident rapidly before whacking Tetsu on the side of the head. A sickening crack played through the clearly as Tetsu's head lulled side to side. After a moment or two, the demonic features began to fade from the mans body, leaving him looking broken, but normal.
"That'll hurt," Hades said with a chuckle.
"He'll be out for a couple hours," Neptune replied, looking towards Damien. "We should be going now. Will you keep fighting?"
"Of course I will!" Damien shouted. "I'm not just doing to let you have her!"
"Oh right," Hades said. "About that." A cry of pain was heard, and Damien turned towards it.
Both Bella and Gin were locked in the arms of skeletons, all of whom looked like it was their undead mission to squeeze the life out of them.
"Damien...!" Bella hissed, unable to move.
"Don't give her up...!" Gin hissed.
"I'll give you the small ultimatum I have the blonde one," Hades said. "Do as we ask, and your friends live. 'Kay?"
'Kay?'
Did he think this was some kind of casual conversation? That they were buddies?
"Where's Venus?" Diana asked. "She was the one who reportedly found her."
"I sent her along to the safe house already." Hades replied. "She was kinda beat up. Also, you know all to well this may not be the end of it."
"...I see," Diana replied, but Damien didn't. What the hell was he supposed to do? It was just him and Quinn now, but they couldn't make a move lest both Bella and Gin get killed.
Thunder sounded, knocking Damien out of his sounds. In a flash of light another man appeared, this time an older one. Damien recognised him well enough. It was Zeus, the leader of The Olympians.
"You have her," he stated flatly, looking at Hades. Hades nodded. "How was it?"
"Well, she certainly fought I'll give her that." Hades said. "Her and that midget she was with that used Iron Dragon Slayer Magic. They fought alright, but they weren't strong enough. Not for me."
"E-Elise..." Damien whispered quietly, not wanting to believe it. Hades had finished Elise and come here. Was she dead? Dying? What was he supposed to do?!
"Then we should get a move on," Zeus said. "After all, we have work to do."
"W-Wait!" Damien shouted, needing them to stop. He couldn't let them take Luna! "Don't you go anywhere!"
"Yeah!" Quinn agreed. "What he said!" Zeus turned and eyed Damien quietly at this, not saying a word. For a moment he just watched, before his eyes softened.
"It'd be in your best interest to just stop fighting," he said. "I'm not interested in hurting you."
"Like I'd believe that!" Damien shouted. "Don't you dare take her from us! I'll kill you!"
"Please try," Hades said, Bella and Gin hissed as the skeletons squeezed them. "I wonder what my bony friends will do if I tell them to kill?" Damien froze, knowing damn well he'd been caught. Not only was there no way he could take them, but even if it was possible Bella and Gin would get killed if he even tried.
"Don't," he hissed, only able to speak a vague threat. "You'd better not." Zeus sighed, turning fully and walking towards him.
"I know how it feels," Zeus said as he approached. "To not want to do something. To not watch it happen. I know, believe me. I have lived many years on this planet, and I know that being forced into something is horrific. But please understand that this is for the best."
"As if I could believe that!" Damien shouted as Zeus reached him. "You've been hunting us for years! Watching for even longer! What do you want?! Why are you doing this?!"
"Zeus," Poseidon said, his armour having faded. "He's heard the prophecy." Zeus' eyes widened, and he looked at Damien with renewed interest.
"You have?" He asked weakly. "The very same one?"
"Yes!" Damien said, grabbing onto the one little bit of hope he had. "I've heard it! The King! Salvation in the end! I know what you're after!" Zeus narrowed his eyes at this, not saying a word.
"Sir, do not be swayed." Poseidon said. "We know how Fairy Tail is. They would not even begin to allow it." Zeus' jaw tightened at this and he looked down at the ground.
"Perhaps if we tried..." He started, and Damien felt hope grow in his chest. "Maybe if we tried to speak to them, we could avoid all this suffering."
"Yes exactly!" Damien said. "No one else needs to get hurt! Let's just talk it out!"
"Are you daft, you old fuck?" Hades demanded. "You know as well as we do that this isn't some walk in the park. After all, as far as we know this girl may have to sacrifice her-"
"Enough!" Zeus shouted, thunder booming as he glared back at Hades. Despite the smirk on his face, Hades grew silent. "I know that. I'm just so tired of all of this. I never wanted this."
"Neither did we," Poseidon said. "But certain things have to be done. And this is one of them. We've been over this, Zeus. They would not willingly watch one of their die."
"I...I know." The hope in Damien's chest withered and died as Zeus sighed. "I know that." With this, he looked back up at Damien. "I am sorry, Damien Dreyar. The path we walk is a long and empty one. I am sorry you and your family have been subjected to horrors at our hand." Damien felt the world fading around him, just like the hope he'd felt.
"Please..." He whispered, watching as a portal appeared and Hades walked towards it with Luna in tow. "We can talk this through...You don't have to take her!"
"I wish that were true," Zeus said, raising a hand to Damien's face. "But doing what's right...It's not always easy."
"Please..."
"Thunder God Electrocution."
Zeus watched, frowning as he downed both Damien Dreyar and Quinn with his magic, knocking them out swiftly and with as little pain as possible. As then moved onto Tristan and did the same. After downing Tristan, he knelt down at his side.
"I'm sorry," he said. "You and the others fought valiantly, but it's time we left."
"Let's go, geezer." Hades called. Zeus nodded, lighting his hand up over Tristan's wounds. The wounds closed somewhat, allowing the unconscious man to breathe a little easier.
"Release the Demon Lords," he said, referring to Bella Realight and Gin. Hades smiled as his skeletons disappeared, both already unconscious.
"Did I do go, old man?" He asked as Zeus joined them at the portal. "I only knocked them out."
"Don't test me," Zeus replied angrily. "I'm already tired enough today."
"Zeus, you know they will follow if they can," Poseidon said. "Killing them would-"
"No," Zeus replied. "If they follow, let them. We will be the only ones present at Mt. Olympus if they do show up. I've ordered everyone else to the safe house."
"Don't want your underlings to get hurt anymore, boss man?" Hades asked. Zeus only nodded. He knew Fairy Tail and their allies would follow. He only hoped they were done and gone if they did.
"Let's go," he said. "We need to set up the transmitter and-"
BOOM!
Zeus turned as an explosion went off, a dust cloud having been thrown up.
"...Let her go."
Zeus watched as the dust cleared, and he was not very surprised by what he saw. Three figures stood before him, but only one was expected.
"Drake," he said to the Poison Dragon as the man stood and glared at them. "It has been a year." Drake narrowed his eyes at him.
"I beat your copies ass," he hissed. "And I'll beat yours."
"I wonder about that."
Yes, cliffhangers and all that. But hey, it's what I do best. I want to say I could have done these fights better, but I worked as hard as I could on this. Damien's was obviously the main focus, and I did have some fun with Tetsu vs. Poseidon, but overall this arc had somewhat lacklustre fights. Not very good for what's supposed to have been built up for this entire story so far, but what's a man to do if he doesn't have the writing skill to live up to his imaginations vision. Maybe I'm too hard on myself. What do you guys think? Let me know!
I hope you guys enjoyed, leave a review! Let's try and get five!
Chapter 337: From The Start
