Take a Step Forward and Try!

Pairing: Moonlightblossomshipping

Summary: After Ash's battle with Leon, Chloe and Dawn discuss their future, and discuss their feelings.

"He did it! He won!"

"Piplup Plup!"

"Evoi!"

Dawn and Chloe cheered as Leon's Charizard collapsed, marking Pikachu the winner and Ash as officially the strongest trainer in the world. In their excitement, the two of them grabbed each other in a big hug.

"He was so awesome!"

"I know!"

It was then that they noticed exactly what they were doing, Chloe blushing as they broke apart.

"Uh, sorry, I just got excited."

"No, it was my fault, really."

But what Chloe didn't notice was that Dawn was blushing as well.

Later that night, after the award ceremony, Chloe was back in the hotel preparing for the flight home tomorrow. But her mind wasn't on packing, but the person she had watched the match with.

"Should I tell her, Eevee?"

"Evoi!" Her partner chirped excitedly. But despite Eevee's reassurance, Chloe wasn't so sure

"I don't know, what if she doesn't like me that way? What if she doesn't like girls? Can you imagine just how awful that would be?"

She flopped down on her bed, staring at the ceiling.

"Now I know how Goh feels whenever he thinks about Ash. At least I don't have to see her everyday…"

Not that I would mind, she thought to herself. Just then, there was a knock at the door, much to her surprise.

"Come in?"

The door opened to reveal Dawn.

"Hey Chloe, you finished packing?"

"Yeah, you?"
"Not yet, but getting there. Listen, do you mind going for a walk with me? I kind of…have to get something off my chest."

"Yeah, sure."

A few minutes later, the two of them were strolling through the city park, enjoying the quiet nightlife. All the while, Chloe was trying not to focus on how absolutely stunning Dawn was.

"So, any luck on deciding what path you want to take?"

"Actually, I was thinking of giving Contests a try."

"Really?"

"Yeah, I actually competed in one a while back. I didn't win, but I had fun."

"I thought I recognized you! May sent me a link to it, you were awesome."

Chloe blushed, and did her best to hide it.

"Thanks."

"Chloe, is it alright if I ask you a personal question?"

"Sure, what is it?"

"Have you…ever thought about who you're attracted to? You know, boys vs girls?"

"You mean romantically?"

Dawn nodded.
"Sorry, I know it's kind of out of the blue, but…"

Chloe just shrugged.

"Not really," she lied.

"Oh," Dawn replied. "I…I like girls."

Chloe perked up. Maybe she had a chance.

"I know its kind of random to bring up, but its been eating me up for a while."

"No, it's fine, just…wow. How long have you known?"

"Ever since my childhood best friend kissed me and I felt nothing. Like, not even a hint of a spark. I don't just mean that I didn't feel attracted to him, I mean that the idea of kissing men in general isn't at all appealing to me, but I've kissed girls before and it was amazing."

"Have you had any relationships?"

"Just one, with a girl named Zoey. We dated for a while, but we kind of fell out of touch as time went on. We're still great friends, though."

"Wow."

"That's not the reason why I brought that up. The truth is, I have a crush on this girl, but I don't know if she feels the same way or not."

"Who?"

"...You."

Chloe gasped. Dawn, thinking this was a sign that she had messed up, began to cry.

"God, I'm so stupid! I…I'm sorry, I shouldn't have! Now you think I'm crazy, and probably never want to-"

"I feel the same way."

Dawn's rambling was cut short by Chloe's confession.

"You…You do? But you said-"

"I lied. I didn't know if you felt the same way or not, and I didn't want to be rejected if you didn't. But I do."

Dawn smiled, and hugged her.

"You have no idea how much that means to me! So…are we dating?"

"If you want."

Dawn smiled, and gave her a passionate kiss, which Chloe was eager to return.

"You know, I was thinking of competing in the Kanto circuit next. If you'd like, I'd love to travel with you."

Chloe nodded.

"I'd love that. Just the two of us taking Kanto by storm!"

"Just don't get too upset when I beat you."

"Hey now!"

But the two of them giggled, staring up at the night sky with their hands intertwined.

A month later, Chloe was waiting in the Vermilion City Airport for her girlfriend to arrive. Eevee and her new addition Yamper were there, just as eager for her arrival.

"I don't see her, do you guys?"

Both Eevee and Yamper shook their heads.

"The flight board said it's arrived, where is she?"

"Chloe!"

Her fears immediately washed away when she saw her girlfriend coming from baggage claim. Immediately she ran over and gave her a big kiss, Dawn dropping her luggage to catch her. The soon broke apart, but kept their grasp on each other firm.

"Oh my gosh, I can't believe you're here!"

"Believe it, baby!"

"How was the flight?"

Dawn shrugged, stretching her back.

"Ugh, those seats are killing me!"

"Piplup!"

"Oh, I don't want to hear it! You sat in my lap the entire time."

Chloe giggled, and pecked her lips.

"Well, you're here now, and that's all that matters."

Dawn smiled, and bent down to pet Eevee and Yamper.

"Eevee, still cute as ever I see!"

"Evoi!"

"And this must be the Yamper I heard so much about!"

Chloe smiled as Yamper licked Dawn's face. She was happy Yamper liked Dawn as much as she did.

"He practically forced himself into a Pokeball when I announced I wanted to be a Coordinator."

"Great! So, when's the first Contest?"

"The first one is in Silver City in a week," Chloe said. "Shouldn't take that long to get there, and we'll have plenty of time for a first date."

Dawn smiled, and pulled her into a hug.

"Ready to take on the world?"

"Only if you're by my side."

"You can count on it!"
