"Garchomp, Earth Power!"

"Moonblast, Gardevoir!"

The two ace Pokemon, both in their Mega Evolved state, launched their attacks, Gardevoir being hit with a plume of lava, while Garchomp got struck by an orb of pink energy. When the dust had settled, both Pokemon, already exhausted from such a long battle, collapsed simultaneously, ending the match in a draw.

But in spite of the lackluster ending, both Diantha and Cynthia were pleased with the result.

"You did great, Garchomp. Get some rest."

After that, the two walked over to each other and shook their hands.

"A grand battle, Diantha. Thank you."

"Same, Cynthia. Are you glad you decided not to retire now?"

"Very much."

After the closing ceremonies for the Masters Eight, the two of them wanted to have a quick match. No cameras, no cheering fans, just the two of them battling for the fun of it. Even so, they put their heart and soul into it, and as such their Pokemon fought with just as much effort.

"There you guys are! We've been looking all over for you."

"I told you they'd be here."

Just then, Ash and Leon came running up.

"Hey Leon, Champ. What's up?"

"Well, I thought I'd take Ash out here to celebrate his win with some good old fashioned Galar cooking."

"Want to come?"

Cynthia and Diantha had to admit they'd worked up quite an appetite, so nodded.

"Sure."

"Great! Leon showed me this awesome place nearby."

The restaurant of choice turned out to be the local Battle Cafe. Sadly, no one wanted to challenge the new champ or any of the Masters Eights, so the four of them sat down at a table and ate.

"To the new monarch!" Leon toasted, raising his glass as the others did the same.

"To Ash!"

"Where are Chloe and Dawn?" Cynthia asked. "I thought they'd want to celebrate with you."
Ash just shrugged.

"I asked, but Dawn shooed me off. Something about needing to tell Chloe something?"

Cynthia smiled. She had a feeling she knew what that was about. Leon didn't catch the undertones, but shrugged it off.

"Ah well, more fun for us! And as such, I propose a new challenge!"

"Oh?" Diantha said, quirking an eyebrow. "And what, pray tell, is that?"

"Drinking contest!" Leon shouted proudly. "Whoever drinks the most shots wins!"

"Hey, no fair!" Ash pouted. "I can't participate, I'm not old enough."

"Trust me, you're not missing much," Diantha reassured him. "He's always coming up with stupid ideas like this."

"I'm down," Cynthia butted in. "I might as well win something."

"Really, Cynthia?"

"Oh, what's the harm? Come on, it'll be fun."

Diantha sighed. She highly doubted it, but there was no point in arguing.

"Alright, I'm in."

An hour later, it was just Cynthia and Diantha left. Ash had gone back to the hotel to pack, and Leon had passed out five drinks in. The two of them kept going shot after shot, both too stubborn to accept a draw.

"I'm…I'm gonna (hic) beat you…"

"No way, Cyndie (hic)...I will…"

Cynthia giggled, and slapped Diantha on the back.

"You're funny…that's why I like you so much…"

"I like you too…"

"No, I mean really like you…"

And before Diantha could reply, Cynthia kissed her on the lips. Although shocked for a moment, she quickly returned it before Cynthia pulled away.

"Sorry, it's just…you're so pretty."
"No…I liked it."

Cynthia giggled, and began playing with Diantha's hair, making her companion giggle as well.

"What do you say we take this party somewhere more private?"

"I'm down."

With that, the two drunk champions hobbled out of the cafe, leaning on each other for support as they felt each other all over.

When Cynthia woke up the next morning, she immediately noticed three things, all of which worried her. One, she had a massive headache. Two, she was in bed with Diantha. And three?

They both were completely naked.

"Shit."

Diantha began to stir next to her, groggily rubbing her eyes.

"Mmm, morning Cynthia…"

But the moment she realized just who was in bed with her, her mind went into overdrive.

"CYNTHIA?!"

"Hi."

"Shit. Shit, shit, shit, SHIT!"

Diantha leapt up at once and began pacing the room. Cynthia got up and tried to comfort her.

"Diantha, its okay."

"No its not! God, I'm so stupid, why'd I let Leon talk me into this?"

"You're not the only one, I should've said no too."

"And did we…did we have sex?"

"Well…"

DIantha just groaned.

"Great! Now not only did I make a fool out of myself by getting drunk, but I had sex with my crush!"

Cynthia blinked, not sure if she heard her friend right. The minute Diantha realized what she had said, she immediately covered her mouth with her hands.

"...And I just said that out loud. Fuck."

"Do you really have a crush on me?"

Diantha sighed. No going back now.

"Yes."

"Really? I thought you'd have gone for Sycamore."

Diantha shrugged.

"We dated for a while, but he just wasn't doing it for me."

"So…"

"Just forget about it. This whole night was…"

But she was cut off by Cynthia pushing her back onto the bed with a deep kiss, surprising her momentarily before she returned it. Once they broke apart, Cynthia began playing with her hair.

"Well, I guess some good came out of Leon's stupid game."

"So you…"

"Oh, very much. Now, what do you say we do it right this time?"

Diantha smiled deviously.

"Alright, but I want to be on top!""

"We'll see about that."
