A Hanamusa Halloween

Ship: Hanamusa (Jessie/Delila)

Summary: If there's one thing Jessie loves, it's wearing a costume. Luckily for her, Delila and Halloween are the perfect combination for her.

There were very few things Jessie missed about Team Rocket. She didn't miss Cassidy's teasing, or being put down by the boss, and she certainly didn't miss getting shot into the air on a daily occurrence! Yeah, no, she was more than happy to leave that life behind, though she did miss James and Meowth. She hoped they were ok.

But if there was one thing that she missed over anything else, it was the disguises. Sure, they were just part of overly elaborate schemes to capture Pikachu, but not a single one of them had a problem with it. They loved the elaborate set up, the fake backstory, and the twerps were so face blind it was like taking candy from a baby! Of course, they never worked for long, but it was always fun while it lasted.

So you can imagine how excited she was when she found out about a Halloween Party being hosted in Viridian City.

"Can we go? Can we?"

Delila chuckled, and gave her girlfriend a gentle pat on the shoulder.

"I wouldn't have brought it up if I didn't intend for us to go, would I?"

Jessie squealed happily.

"Oh, this is going to be so awesome! I'll get to work on my costume right away!"

"Oh, don't worry about that dear!" Delila said, brushing her off. "I'll take care of everything."

Jessie's face fell.

"Are you sure? I-It's just that James and I always designed our costumes together…"

But Delila just waved it off.

"It's a surprise! I promise, you'll love it."

Well, Jessie was still bummed out, but the promise of a surprise was enough for her to trust her partner.

The party was only a week away, but to Jessie it felt like an eternity. Every day she would do anything and everything to catch a peak, but Mimey refused to let her through. He even managed to trap her in an invisible box once!

At last, one day before the party, Jessie found her costume hung outside their bedroom door. When she saw it, she gasped. Surely this wasn't for her, it was too grand! It was a big, beautiful yellow dress, just like the kind a Princess would wear. Attached to the hem was a note.

Hope it's good enough! Can't wait to show you mine tomorrow!

Good enough? It was gorgeous! Jessie thought it must be a dream, but if it was, she didn't want to wake up. If Delila was here, she'd hug her. But for now, Jessie would have to settle for waiting until tomorrow night.

The next night, Jessie made her way to Viridian City, feeling like a true princess. Delila had told her to go on ahead, that she needed to put the finishing touches on her own costume but would meet her there. Now Jessie sat alone, eagerly waiting for her date.

"Jessie?"

Jessie jumped, expecting Delila but instead finding Ash in a Lucario costume.

"Oh, it's just you twer-I mean, Ash."

Ash chuckled.

"It's okay, old habits die hard. Looking good, by the way."

"Oh, thanks! Where's Goh?"

"Talking with Gary and Horace. Told him I'd get us some punch."

It was only then that Jessie realized she had been standing in front of the punch bowl the entire time. Embarrassed, she awkwardly stepped aside, allowing Ash to get his desired beverage.

"You haven't seen your mother, have you?"

Ash chuckled.

"Nice try, but you're not going to get any details on her outfit from me! If I do that, she'll cut off my ketchup supply."

"Since when did you care so much about Ketchup?"

"I don't, but Pikachu does."

Right, of course.

"Well, talk to you later! Don't have too much fun."

"Shouldn't we be telling you that?"

Ash chuckled, and eagerly walked back to his date, leaving Jessie alone once more to await her own.

Luckily, she wasn't waiting long, for her beloved soon appeared in a most surprising outfit. Instead of a dress, she wore a bright blue suit, but that wasn't the odd part. Her hands were covered in furry mittens, and her face was covered in a mask that…

The minute she realized what it was, Jessie immediately started mentally kicking herself. How had she not noticed it sooner? The yellow dress, the fur, the pink rose she was being handed, how could she not recognize her favorite movie of all time?

"Beauty and the Beast, I should've known," Jessie said with a fond smile.

"Surprise! You said it was your favorite movie, so I thought we could go as the duo."

"I feel like it should be the other way around," Jessie chuckled. "After all, you're the one who saved me."

"Maybe," Delila said. "But you're my Princess."

Jessie wasn't sure if she should blush or roll her eyes, so instead she kissed her girlfriend.

"Now then, Miss Beast," Jessie said with a smirk. "May I have this dance?"

Delila giggled, and took her hand.

"It'd be an honor."

And as the two danced long into the night, staring lovingly into each others' eyes, Jessie truly felt like a princess.
