Carmine vs Kieran
Lincoln, Clyde, and Carmine were heading down Oni Mountain to bring the crystal clusters they obtained to Carmine and Kieran's grandfather so he can repair Ogerpon's mask.
As they head down the Infernal Pass, Lincoln sees the Mimikyu that Lucy wanted before.
"You guys go ahead; I'm gonna catch this Pokemon for Lucy." said Lincoln as he takes his Charcadet's pokeball off his waist and releases him from it.
"Catch up with us when you're done." said Clyde.
"Don't keep me waiting, Linky." said Carmine as she winks at Lincoln, making him blush and Iono, who was watching from Lincoln's Rotom Phone, growl.
"Lincoln's mine!" said Iono. Lincoln and Charcadet stare at the Mimikyu who just now notices them and gets ready for battle.
The Mimikyu's shadow extends until it get behind Charcadet; a shadowy claw comes out from it and strikes him.
"Charcadet; use Flame Charge!" said Lincoln. Charcadet runs at the Mimikyu while his body's engulfed in flame and slams into it, not looking like it did much but make its head sag.
"That Pokemon must be tough." said Lynn Jr.
"Use Incinerate!" said Lincoln. Charcadet conjurs up a fireball between its arms and launches it at the Mimikyu, hitting it, and knocking it to the ground. Lincoln quickly takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Mimikyu, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Nice one, bro!" said Luna.
"Yes! I caught Mimikyu!" said Lincoln. He uses his Rotom Phone to look up Mimikyu's information. "Okay; Mimikyu's a boy, he knows Scratch, Splash, Astonish, Copycat, Wood Hammer, Shadow Sneak, Double Team, Baby-Doll Eyes, and Mimic. He has the Disguise ability which has Mimikyu's costume take the first hit in a battle." Lincoln uses his Rotom Phone to transfer Mimikyu to the Loud house. "I just sent Mimikyu there, Lucy."
"Thanks, Lincoln." said Lucy from beside the rest of the family, scaring them. Lincoln returns Charcadet to his pokeball and runs to catch up with Clyde and Carmine; he soon reaches them.
"Couldn't stand being away from me for too long, cute stuff?" asked Carmine with a smirk.
"I can't stand Linky being near you!" exclaimed Iono.
"Let's get going." said Clyde.
"Yeah, we got a mask to get fixed!" said Carmine as she hooks one of her arms around one of Lincoln's, making him blush and Iono growl, and starts pulling him down the path with Clyde running after them.
Half an hour later, they arrive at Mossui Town and head over to Kieran and Carmine's grandparents house; when they get there, they see Kieran and Carmine's grandfather standing outside the house with a worried look on his face.
"Is something wrong, Grandpa?" asked Carmine.
"It's Kieran." said Kieran and Carmine's grandfather.
"What happened?!" asked Lincoln with concern.
"He took Ogerpon's mask!" said Kieran and Carmine's grandfather.
"WHAT?!" Carmine replied. "Why would he do that?! How did he know about it?!"
"I don't know." said Kieran and Carmine's grandfather. "He headed for Loyalty Plaza."
"Let's go after him!" said Carmine. She, Lincoln, and Clyde head off towards the Loyalty Plaza to search for Kieran.
Five minutes later, they arrive at their destination and find Kieran standing near the Loyal Three monument, holding Ogerpon's mask.
"Kieran!" Carmine shouts to her younger brother, making him turn towards her with a stern glare.
"Hello, Carmine." said Kieran as he sets Ogerpon's mask down behind him.
"What are you doing with that mask?!" asked Carmine.
"Why didn't you tell me you all saw Ogerpon at the festival last night?" asked Kieran, surprising Carmine before she looks at Lincoln and Clyde with an angry look on her face.
"You told him?!" shouts Carmine before she bonks Lincoln on the head.
"Hey!" shouts Lincoln as he rubs the spot that Carmine hit.
"You jerk!" shouts Iono. "At least I would never hurt my cutie like that, which makes me a better girlfriend for Linky!"
"I was on the other side of the wall in front of Grandma and Grandpa's house when Grandpa told you, Lincoln, and Clyde the truth about Ogerpon; I heard everything!" said Kieran.
"Oh." said Carmine before she kisses Lincoln on the head where she bonked him. "Sorry, cutie."
"How many times do I have to tell you... NOT TO KISS MY LINKY?!" asked Iono.
"Look, I'm sorry I lied to you, but I didn't want you going up Oni Mountain at night." said Carmine.
"I get that." said Kieran. "Lincoln and Clyde explained that part pretty well, making it understandable."
"You two DID tell him?" Carmine asked Lincoln and Clyde.
"He already knew anyway, so it's not like it mattered that we did." said Lincoln.
"I guess you're right, cutie." said Carmine.
"I want to go with you when you return the mask to Ogerpon!" said Kieran.
"I don't want you going up to a dangerous place like that." said Carmine.
"Kieran's been up to Ogerpon's home lots of times before." said Lincoln.
"What?!" Carmine replied.
"Yeah, he showed me and Lincoln where it was." said Clyde.
"What do I have to do to prove to you that I can handle myself?" asked Kieran.
"Battle her." said Lincoln, surprising Kieran and Carmine. "If Kieran wins, he comes with us when we return Ogerpon's mask after it's fixed; he loses, he stays in town while we do that." The two siblings look at each other before agreeing.
"This should be easy." said Carmine with a grin.
"Don't be so sure." said Clyde. "Kieran has gotten a lot stronger as a trainer."
"And he's most likely gotten stronger while we were getting the crystal clusters." said Lincoln. Carmine shrugs in response.
"Not like it would matter." said Carmine.
"We'll see about that." said Kieran.
Lincoln and Clyde step to the side to give Kieran and Carmine some room to battle while Lincoln and Clyde's friends and families, along with Iono, watch via Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Ladies and gentlemen!" said Iono. "Right now, Linky's friend, Kieran, is battling that hussy, Carmine, to see if Kieran is strong enough to stand on his own as a trainer so he can realize his dream of meeting Ogerpon. I'll be cheering for Kieran of course, because I will not support his stupid sister!"
"How many Pokemon are we using?" asked Kieran.
"Five each." said Carmine.
"I'll be the referee." said Lincoln.
"And a cute one at that." said Carmine as she winks at Lincoln, making him blush.
"How does Lincoln do it?" asked Rusty with jealousy.
"Maybe he can give you some tips?" suggested Zach.
"This battle is between Kieran and Carmine." said Lincoln in a firm voice. "Both trainers will use five Pokemon. The winner will be the trainer who takes down all of their opponent's Pokemon first. Let the battle begin!"
"That was pretty good, Linky." said Iono.
"Yeah, I picked up a thing about officiating matches during my gym battles." said Lincoln.
Kieran and Carmine each pull a pokeball off their waists; Carmine throws his, releasing her Mightyena; Kieran throws his, releasing a large, green, dragonfly-like Pokemon with red eyes.
"Looks like Kieran's Yanma evolved." said Clyde as he takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at Kieran's Pokemon.
"Yanmega, the Ogre Darner Pokemon, and the evolved form of Yanma. Yanmega's wingbeats are so powerful that the Pokémon blows down huge trees nearby when it vigorously launches itself into flight." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"That's so cool!" said Lincoln.
"Yanmega, use Bug Buzz!" shouts Kieran. Yanmega releases a high-pitched soundwave that hits Mightyena, doing super effective damage; Mightyena's body starts to slump a bit.
"What's wrong with Carmine's Pokemon?" asked Lana.
"Bug Buzz has a chance to lower the special defense of the Pokemon it's used on." said Lincoln.
"Mightyena, use Assurance!" said Carmine. Mightyena lunges at Yanmega and thrusts its claws into it, dealing double the damage it normally would have due to it taking damage earlier.
"Yanmega, use Air Slash!" shouts Kieran. Yanmega flaps its wings, releasing a blade of air that hits Mightyena, and thanks to its special defense being weakened by Bug Buzz, the attack was strong enough to knock Mightyena out.
"Mightyena is unable to battle. Yanmega is the winner." said Lincoln.
"No way!" shouts Carmine.
"How did you like that, Carmine?" Iono asked with a smirk on her face. Carmine frowns before she returns her Mighytena to its pokeball; she then pulls another one off her waist and throws it, releasing a cream-colored, foxlike Pokemon with nine swaying tails.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Leni with awe.
"I'll find out." said Clyde as he points his Rotom Phone at Carmine's Pokemon.
"Ninetales, the Fox Pokemon, and the evolved form of Vulpix. Some legends claim that each of its nine tails has its own unique type of special mystical power." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"Yanmega, use Ancient Power!" said Kieran. Yanmega flaps his wings at the ground, forcing up four large rocks that had fossils in them, which it launches at the Ninetales, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage. A surge of energy goes through Yanmega's body.
"If I remember correctly, Ancient Power has a chance of increasing all of the stats of the Pokemon that used it." said Clyde.
"Ninetales, use Incinerate!" said Carmine. Ninetales opens its mouth and launches a fireball out of it; it hits Yanmega, dealing super effective damage to it, but not as much due to Yanmega's special defense being increased.
"Yanmega, use Air Cutter!" said Kieran. Yanmega releases light blue energy blades from its flapping wings and landed a critical hit on Ninetales, knocking it back.
"Oh yeah?! Ninetales, Flamethrower!" said Carmine. Ninetales releases a stream of fire from its mouth and it hits Yanmega, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Yanmega is unable to battle. Ninetales wins the match." said Lincoln.
"Yeah!" cheered Carmine.
"Boooooo!" said Iono. Kieran returns Yanmega to its pokeball.
"You were amazing out there, Yanmega." said Kieran. He puts Yanmega's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Poliwrath, go!" He throws his pokeball and releases what looked like Poliwhirl, but had a stronger build and a serious expression in its eyes.
"Is that Poliwhirl?" asked Clyde, taking out his Rotom Phone and pointing it at the Pokemon.
"Poliwrath, the Tadpole Pokemon and the final evolved form of Poliwag. Although it's skilled in a style of dynamic swimming that uses all its muscles, for some reason it lives on dry land." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"Kieran's Poliwhirl evolved." said Lincoln.
"Yeah, I found a Water Stone while you were on Oni Mountain." said Kieran.
"It looks so strong." said Lana.
"Well, according to my Rotom Phone; Poliwrath is part fighting type." said Clyde.
"Awesome." said Lynn Jr.
"Ninetales, Quick Attack!" said Carmine. Ninetales charges at Poliwrath with incredible speed and rams it, but it doesn't budge, surprising Carmine.
"Poliwrath, use Mud Shot!" said Kieran. Poliwrath forms a ball of mud between its hands and launches it at Ninetales, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage to it; Ninetales begins to slump.
"Mud Shot lowers the speed of the Pokemon that's hit with it." said Lincoln.
"Now use Water Pulse!" said Kieran. Poliwrath forms a ball of water between its hands and launches it at Ninetales, dealing super effective damage; it begins to stumble around.
"Ninetales is confused." said Clyde.
"Ninetales, try using Disable!" said Carmine. Unfortunately, confusion gets the better of Ninetales and it hurts itself; it struggles to stay on his feet.
"Bubble Beam!" said Kieran. Poliwrath releases a beam of glowing blue bubbles from its hands and it hits Ninetales, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Ninetales is unable to battle. Poliwrath wins the match." said Lincoln.
"Great job, Poliwrath!" said Kieran. Carmine growls before returning Ninetales to its pokeball.
"Don't think that you're better than me just because you beat two of my Pokemon so far, Kiki!" shouts Carmine before putting Ninetales pokeball away and pulling out another one; she tosses it, releasing her Morpeko.
"Both Pokemon have advantages over each other." said Clyde.
"Morpeko, use Spark!" said Carmine. Morpeko runs at Poliwrath while covered in electrcity and rams into it, dealing super effective damage; it suddenly turns to its Hangry Form.
"Poliwrath, use Mud Bomb!" said Kieran. Poliwrath releases another large ball of mud that hits Morpeko, hitting it, dealing super effective damage, and lowers its speed. "Now use Dynamic Punch!" Poliwrath rears its fist back while gathering energy into it before throwing a punch at Morpeko, landing a powerful blow that does enough super effective damage that sends it flying back to Carmine's feet, unconscious, surprising her.
"Morpeko is unable to battle. Poliwrath is the winner." said Lincoln.
"Yeah!" cheered Kieran. "Way to go, Poliwrath!" Poliwrath does a fist pump in response. Carmine looks nervous as she returns her Morpeko to its pokeball.
"You have gotten stronger, Kiki." said Carmine. "But don't think I'm beaten yet!" She puts Morpeko's pokeball away and pulls another one off her waist; she tosses it, releasing a tall, yellowish green, green, and light green; bipedal, insectlike Pokemon.
"Looks like Swaddle evolved." said Clyde as he takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at Carmine's Pokemon.
"Leavanny, the Nurturing Pokemon, and the final form of Sewaddle. This gentle Pokémon has strong protective instincts. The leaves on its arms are sharp enough to slice a thick tree in half with one stroke." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"How can a nurturing Pokemon be suited for that hussy?!" asked Iono.
"Leavanny, use Trailblaze!" said Carmine. Leavanny becomes surrounded by green energy and it leaps at Poliwrath, ramming it, and dealing super effective damage; energy surges through Leavanny.
"Don't forget; Trailblaze boosts the speed of the Pokemon using it." said Carmine with a smirk.
"Poliwrath, use Body Slam!" said Kieran. Poliwrath leaps over Leavanny and crashes down onto it with all its weight, damaging it.
"Leavanny, use Razor Leaf!" said Carmine. Leavanny releases a barrage of leaves that hit Poliwrath, dealing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Poliwrath is unable to battle. Leavanny is the winner." said Lincoln.
"How'd you like that, Kiki?!" Carmine asked with a grin. Kieran doesn't give a reply as he returns his Poliwrath to its pokeball.
"You were awesome, Poliwrath." said Kieran before putting Poliwrath's pokeball back on his waist.
"Don't ignore me!" said Carmine.
"Go ahead and ignore her, Kieran; you too, Linky." said Iono.
What no one noticed that during the battle, all the energy spent was getting absorbed into the Loyal Three monument.
Kieran takes another pokeball off his waist and throws it, releasing a pink Pokemon that looked like a bat with claws and a scorpion tail, along with blue wing flaps.
"What's that?" asked Clyde as he points his Rotom Phone at Kieran's Pokemon.
"Gligar, the Fly Scorpion Pokemon. It builds its nest on a steep cliff. When it is done gliding, it hops along the ground back to its nest." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"I like the batlike qualities; not so much its color." said Lucy.
"Gligar, use Poison Tail!" said Kieran. Gligar jabs its poison-coated stinger into Leavanny's chest, dealing critical, super effective damage; Leavanny starts to look ill.
"Looks like Leavanny's poisoned." said Lincoln.
"Leavanny, use Slash!" said Carmine. Leavanny swipes at Gligar with one of her pincers, damaging it.
"Gligar, use Acrobatics!" said Kieran. Gligar flies all around Leavanny, hitting it from multiple angles, dealing lots of super effective damage due to Leavanny being a combination of two Pokemon that are weak against flying type moves, along with the fact that Gligar wasn't holding an item, making Acrobatics do more damage; Leavanny couldn't handle it and passes out.
"Leavanny is unable to battle. Gligar is the winner." said Lincoln.
"Yes!" cheered Kieran. "One more to go!" Carmine looks nervous as she returns her Leavanny to its pokeball.
"You've been growing on your own, Kiki." said Carmine with a sad smile.
"Everyone grows." said Lincoln.
"We all know that for a fact, Lincoln." said Rita.
"It just makes me want to cry when all you kids start school." said Lynn Sr before he starts sobbing.
"Our little Clyde's growing up, too!" said Howard McBride before he started to cry.
"But we're still battling, and I'm not gonna give up!" said Carmine as she puts her Leavanny's pokeball back on her waist and pulls her last one off; she tosses it, releasing a Pokemon that looked like a green liquid with yellow swirl eyes, a bit of bamboo on its head with strands coming down from it like hair; coming out of black and white teacup with a face drawn on the white part of it.
"Looks like her Poltchageist evolved." said Clyde as he points his Rotom Phone at Carmine's Pokemon.
"Sinistcha, the Matcha Pokemon, and the evolved form of Poltchageist. It pretends to be tea, trying to fool people into drinking it so it can drain their life-force. Its ruse is generally unsuccessful." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"I won't lose to you, Kiki!" said Carmine. "Sinistcha, use Matcha Gatcha!" Sinistcha releases a stream of tea at Gligar, hitting it, dealing damage.
"Gilgar, use Knock Off!" said Kieran. Gligar swings one of its claws at Sinistcha, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage.
"Sinistcha, use Matcha Gotcha again!" said Carmine. Sinistcha releases a green liquid from its teacup and it splashes onto Gligar, damaging it; some of Sinistcha's wounds heal and fire surrounds Gligar's body.
"Gligar's burned." said Clyde.
"Yep; not only does Matcha Gotcha drain the opposing Pokemon of its energy which is used to heal my Sinistcha; it has a chance of burning the Pokemon also." said Carmine with a smirk.
"We're not giving up; Gligar, use Fury Cutter!" Gligar glides at Sinstcha and slashes it with one of its claws, damging it. Gligar winces in pain from its burn.
"Sinistcha, use Foul Play!" said Carmine. Sinistcha grabs Gligar and throws it onto the ground, damaging it, and knocking it out.
"Gligar is unable to battle. Sinistcha wins." said Lincoln.
"Want to give up now, Kiki?" asked Carmine.
"Not a chance, sis!" said Kieran.
"That's the spirit, Kieran!" said Clyde.
"Don't give up until the end!" said Lincoln. Kieran nods as he returns Gligar to its pokeball.
"You were great, Gligar." said Kieran. He puts Gligar's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Go, Dipplin!" He tosses Dipplin's pokeball and releases it; a sweet scent is suddenly smelled by everyone else there in person.
"What smells so sweet?" asked Clyde.
"Must be Linky; he's always such a sweetie." said Iono.
"That's Dipplin's Supersweet Syrup ability." said Kieran. "When Dipplin's released into battle, it lowers the opposing Pokemon's evasion, making it difficult for it to dodge attacks." Sinistcha suddenly slumps. "Dipplin, use Dragon Breath!" Dipplin sticks its head out of its apple and releases a beam of green energy from its mouth and it hits Sinstcha, dealing damage; Sinistcha begins to twitch.
"Sinistcha's paralyzed." said Lincoln.
"Sinistcha, use Astonish!" said Carmine. Sinistcha fights through its paralysis and flies at Dipplin; Sinistcha makes a scary face at Dipplin, making it stumble back and fall, being dealt damage.
"Dipplin, now you use Astonish!" said Kieran. Dipplin leaps at Sinistcha and glares at it, scaring it and making it fall to the ground, being dealt super effective damage, and flinching. "Now use Growth!" Dipplin's body grows and its attack and special attack strength increases.
"Sinistcha, use Foul Play!" said Carmine. Sinistcha fights through its paralysis and grabs Dipplin, Sinistcha flies up and throws Dipplin onto the ground.
"Dipplin, use Dragon Tail!" shouts Kieran. Dipplin leaps at Sinistcha while a green aura surrounds its tail and it hits Sinistcha with it, dealing more damage due to Growth increasing Dipplin's attack strength; Sinistcha falls to the ground, unconscious.
"Sinistcha is unable to battle. Dipplin wins the match. The winner of this battle is Kieran." said Lincoln. Carmine looks with a shocked look on his face while Kieran looks with a stunned look on his.
"I won?" asked Kieran; a look of joy appeared on his face. "I WON! I BEAT CARMINE!"
"Ha! Carmine lost!" said Iono.
"Way to go, Kieran!" said Lincoln before he, along with Clyde run to him, then being joined by Dipplin.
"You were great, Kieran!" said Clyde.
"You have truly become a strong trainer." said Lincoln.
"That was awesome!" said Lynn Jr.
"Kieran was literally amazing." said Lori.
"Thanks, guys; you too, Dipplin!" said Kieran; Dipplin smiles in response. Carmine returns Sinistcha to its pokeball; she walks over to Kieran, Lincoln, and Clyde; who all stop celebrating when they see her approaching them.
"That was a good battle." said Carmine.
"Thanks, sis." said Kieran.
"I liked the part when Carmine lost!" said Iono, making Carmine scowl at her before a smirk appears on her face.
"I guess I'll settle for a consolation prize." said Carmine.
"Consolation prize?" Lincoln says right before Carmine grabs his face and kisses him on the lips, making his face turn red.
"YOU HUSSY!" shouts Iono. Carmine soon breaks the kiss, leaving Lincoln in stunned shock before he shakes his head to bring himself back to his senses.
"Well, a deal's a deal." said Carmine. "You can come with when we return Ogerpon's mask after it's fixed, Kiki."
"Yes! Thanks, sis!" said Kieran.
Kieran has defeated Carmine and earned the right to travel with her, Lincoln, and Clyde to the Dreaded Den to return Ogerpon's mask. What else will Lincoln and Clyde experience as their Kitakami adventure continues?
