Another day has arrived in the Sinnoh region, and Lincoln's group are currently heading up Route 210 on their way to Veilstone City, where Lincoln's next gym battle, and Stella and Dawn's next gym battle awaits them.
"I can't wait to try and earn my next badge." said Lincoln.
"I can't wait to earn my next ribbon." said Stella.
"Not if I win it first." said Dawn, making Stella stare at her.
"Let's just get going, dudes." said Luna.
"The sooner we get going, the sooner we can get to Veilstone City." said Sam.
"Yeah, let's go!" said Lincoln.
But before they could continue on down the road, they hear the sound of fast-apporaching footsteps behind them.
"What's that?" asked Luna as she and the rest of the group look behind him to see a boy about Lincoln's age with blonde hair, wearing an orange and white-striped cardigan, long green scarf around his neck, gray pants, brown boots, and a brown messenger back around his shoulder; he was running towards the group with his eyes closed.
"Gotta hurry! Gotta hurry! Gotta hurry!" said the boy.
"Dudes, he's coming right at us!" said Luna. Everyone else, but Lincoln who was confused by the situation, jumps out of the boy's path; but before Lincoln could snap out of his confusion and move out of the way himself, the boy collides with him, sending both of them tumbling to the ground.
"Lincoln!" shouts Stella as she and the others run over to Lincoln to check on him.
"You okay, little dude?" asked Sam.
"Did someone get the number of that bus?" asked Lincoln as he shakes the cobwebs out of his head. The boy shakes his head as well before he opens his eyes and sees the group.
"Watch where you're going!" said the boy.
"Hey, you ran into me!" Lincoln replied.
"I should fine you for being in my way!" said the boy.
"Well... uh... I should fine you for running full-speed down a road with your eyes closed and not watching where you're going!" Lincoln replied.
"I should fine you for talking back!" said the boy.
"I should fine you for fining me for a dumb reason!" said Lincoln.
"Would you two knock it off?" asked Stella, getting the boy's attention; he blushes when he notices her.
"I should fine you for not giving me your number." said the boy in a lovestruck tone of voice, making Stella recoil, and Lincoln glare at him.
"Shouldn't you introduce yourself first?" asked Dawn.
"Oh, right!" said the boy. "My name is Barry!"
"I'm Stella." said Stella. "And that white-haired boy is by boyfriend, Lincoln."
"You could do better than him." said the boy, now known as Barry, with a pout.
"Watch it, dude!" said Luna. "I'm his sister, Luna."
"I'm his best friend, Clyde." said Clyde.
"I'm Sam." said Sam.
"I'm Sam's little brother, Simon." said Simon.
"And I'm Dawn." said Dawn.
"Why are you in such a hurry?" asked Stella.
"I'm going to challenge the Veilstone City gym so I can win the badge there." said Barry.
"So am I." said Lincoln.
"Then why aren't you running?" asked Barry.
"The gym's not exactly going anywhere, and I have plenty of time before the Sinnoh League." said Lincoln. "And I want to take the time to train up my Pokemon before I get to Veilstone City."
"You should catch Pokemon that are already strong." said Barry.
"I heard Paul say that before." said Lincoln, surprising Barry.
"You know him?" asked Barry with interest.
"I battled him a while back." said Lincoln.
"I'll bet you lost." said Barry with a smirk.
"We'll have you know that their battle ended in a draw." said Stella, shocking Barry.
"Really?!" asked Barry.
"Yeah." said Clyde.
"How do you know Paul?" asked Dawn.
"I've seen him battle before." said Barry. "He's a really strong trainer. I want to be just like him!"
"Are you mean to your Pokemon?" asked Stella with a frown.
"No; I'm nice to my Pokemon." said Barry. "I still want my Pokemon to be really strong."
"At least you're not a jerk to your Pokemon." said Stella. Barry smiles at Stella before looking back at Lincoln.
"If you were able to battle Paul to a draw, then you must be strong yourself, Lincoln." said Barry.
"I manange." said Lincoln. "I have two gym badges already; would've had three, but the Hearthome Gym was closed."
"How about we see which of us is stronger?" asked Barry.
"You mean a Pokemon battle?" asked Clyde.
"Yeah!" said Barry.
"You're on!" said Lincoln. Barry looks around and sees a large open field nearby.
"We'll battle over there!" said Barry. He and Lincoln's group walk over to the spot; Barry and Lincoln stand on opposite ends of the field while the others stand on the sidelines to watch.
"So, how many Pokemon are we using?" asked Lincoln. "Paul and I used three when we battled."
"Then that's how many we'll use too." replied Barry. He and Lincoln each pull out a pokeball. "Hitmonlee, go!" He throws a pokeball and releases a brown, humanoid Pokemon with long, cream colored, arms and legs. Dawn takes out her pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Hitmonlee, the Kicking Pokemon. Its legs can stretch to double their length. First-time foes are startled by Hitmonlee's extensible reach." said Dawn's pokedex.
"Espeon, go!" said Lincoln, throwing Espeon's pokeball and releasing him. "Espeon, use Baby-Doll Eyes!" Espeon looks at Hitmonlee with shiny eyes and its attack strength weakens.
"Hitmonlee, use Double Kick!" said Barry. Hitmonlee leaps at Espeon and kicks him twice, but not doing much damage due to psychic type Pokemon being resistant to fighting type moves and Baby-Doll Eyes weakening Hitmonlee's attack strength.
"Espeon, Confusion!" said Lincoln. Espeon's eyes glowed purple and Hitmonlee gets lifted up into the air; it then gets slammed onto the ground and receives super effective damage.
"Hitmonlee, Blaze Kick!" said Barry. Hitmonlee leaps at Espeon while fire surrounds one of its feet and it kicks Espeon with it, but not doing much damgae; fire covers Espeon's body.
"Oh man, Espeon's burned." said Lincoln.
"Gonna give up?" asked Barry.
"You wish!" replied Lincoln. "Espeon, use Psychic!" Espeon's eyes glowed red and Hitmonlee becomes surrounded by a red aura; it gets lifted up and thrown into a tree, receiving super effective damage and knocking it out. Espeon flinches in pain from her burn.
"I don't believe this!" exclaimed Barry.
"You better." said Luna. Barry returns Hitmonlee to its pokeball; he puts it away and pulls out another one. "Go, Heracross!" He throws a pokeball and releases a Heracross.
"He has a Heracross too?" asked Simon.
"Heracross, Horn Attack!" said Barry. Heracross flies at Espeon and rams him with its horn, damaging him.
"Espeon, Confusion!" said Lincoln. Espeon's eyes glowed blue and Heracross gets lifted up, and then gets slammed onto the ground, receiving super effective damage. Espeon flinches in pain from her burn.
"Heracross, Aerial Ace!" said Barry. Heracross flies at Espeon while white streaks of light surrounds its body and it rams into Espeon, dealing damage, and knocking him out. "In your face, Lincoln!"
"Don't give up, Lincoln!" said Clyde.
"Had no intention to." replied Lincoln before returning Espeon to his pokeball. "You did great, Espeon." He puts Espeon's pokeball and pulls out another one. "Dragonair, go!" He throws Dragonair's pokeball and releases her.
"No way; you have a Dragonair?!" exclaimed Barry.
"You bet." replied Lincoln. "Dragonair, use Slam!" Dragonair lifts up her tail and slams it onto Heracross, damaging it.
"Heracross, Counter!" said Barry. Heracross glows orange and strikes Dragonair with its horn, damaging her.
"Dragonair, Twister!" said Lincoln. Dragonair swings her tail and releases a tornado from it at Heracross, hitting it, and dealing damage, along with making it flinch. "Now use Dragon Tail!" Dragonair's tail becomes surrounded by a green aura and she hits Heracross with it, sending it flying and it crashes onto the ground near Barry's feet, unconscious.
"You're doing great, little bro!" said Sam.
"You can do it!" said Stella.
"No he can't!" exclaimed Barry as he returns Heracross to its pokeball. He puts Heracross' pokeball away and pulls out another. "I'll admit, you're doing well, but I won't lose to you; Prinplup, go!" He throws a pokeball and releases a Prinplup.
"He has a Prinplup too." said Sam.
"Prinplup, use Metal Claw!" said Barry. Prinplup leaps at Dragonair while one of its flippers turned into metal and it slashes Dragonair with it, dealing damage; energy surges through Prinplup's body.
"Oh man; Metal Claw increases the attack strength of the Pokemon that used it." said Sam.
"Dragonair, Slam!" said Lincoln. Dragonair smashes her tail onto Prinplup, damaging it.
"Prinplup, use Pound!" said Barry. Prinplup leaps at Dragonair and smashes its flipper into her, damaging her.
"Dragonair, Thunder Wave!" said Lincoln. Dragonair releases a blue stream of electricity from her horn onto Prinplup; it begins to twitch.
"Now Prinplup's paralyzed." said Clyde.
"That won't stop us; Prinplup, use Peck!" said Barry. Prinplup fights through its paralysis and jumps at Dragonair, jabbing its beak into her, and knocking her out. "Yeah! How'd you like that." Lincoln doesn't reply and returns Dragonair to her pokeball.
"You did great, Dragonair." said Lincoln. He puts Dragonair's pokeball away and pulls out another. "Go, Infernape!" He throws Infernape's pokeball and releases him.
"Why are you using a fire type?" asked Barry. "Don't you know they're weak against water types?"
"Don't underestimate Infernape." replied Lincoln. "Infernape, Power-Up Punch!" Infernape leaps at Prinplup while an orange aura surrounded his fist and he punches Prinplup with it, damaging it; energy surges through Infernape's body. "Like Metal Claw, Power-Up Punch also increases the attack strength of the Pokemon using it."
"Too bad Infernape's still weak to water attacks." replied Barry. "Prinplup, Bubble Beam!" Prinplup fights through its paralysis and releases a stream of glowing bubbles from its mouth and they hit Infernape, dealing super effective damage, and lowers his speed.
"Infernape, Mach Punch!" said Lincoln. Infernape charges at Prinplup while his fist glowed light blue and he punches Prinplup, dealing damage to it, and knocking it to the ground. As Prinplup struggles to get up, a blue aura surrounds its body.
"That must be Prinplup's Torrent ability." said Sam.
"You bet; Prinplup, Water Gun!" said Barry. Prinplup fights through its paralysis and releases a stream of water out of its mouth and it hits Infernape, dealing super effective damage.
"Infernape, Close Combat!" said Lincoln. Infernape charges at Prinplup and hits it with a barrage of punches and kicks, sending it flying across the air and lands near Barry's feet with swirly eyes.
"I don't believe it!" exclaimed Barry, furiously rubbing his head with both hands.
"What part of 'don't underestimate Infernape' didn't you understand?" asked Simon.
"Way to go, Lincoln!" said Clyde. Stella runs to Lincoln and kisses him on the lips. Barry growls before returning Prinplup to its pokeball.
"You did good, Prinplup." said Barry. He puts Prinplup's pokeball away and walks to Lincoln. "I'll admit, you didn't do too bad."
"Thanks, Barry." said Lincoln. Barry then give Lincoln pokedollars.
"You beat me this time, but I'll be ready for you next time we battle." said Barry. "Be ready or I'll fine you."
"Oh, I'll be ready." replied Lincoln.
"And I hope to see you later, Stella." said Barry before he winks at Stella, making her flinch; Barry runs off, leaving the others with confused looks on their faces.
"He was... interesting." said Clyde.
"That's one way of putting it." said Sam.
"Looks like you got someone else to look out for, bro." said Luna.
"I'll be ready for him." said Lincoln. He feels an arm hook around his, making him look to see Stella.
"Let's get going, Lincoln." said Stella before Dawn hooks her arm around Lincoln's other one.
The two head off down their road, their destination: Veilstone City.
Meanwhile, at the Royal Woods Community Pool, Rusty was swimming in the pool alone due to no one wanting to swim in tainted water, which, to the view of the other people there, became so the second Rusty went into it. As Rusty swam around, a whirlpool suddenly appeared beneath him.
"What the?!" exclaimed Rusty. The whirlpool begins pulling Rusty around while he tries to swim out of the pool. Moments later, Rusty climbed out of the pool. "Man, that was close."
"AUGH, I'M BLIND!" yelled one of the people at the pool.
"I'm going to be sick!" yelled a teenage girl.
"Don't look, sweetie." a woman says to a little girl whose eyes were covered by the woman.
"What's everyone's problem?" asked Rusty. He then realizes it was feeling drafty below his waist. He looked down to see his swimming trunks were gone, leaving him wearing... well... nothing. He looks at the pool and saw his trunks floating in the middle of it; his face turns red with embarrassment. Lori was laying on a beach chair with her eyes covered; she looks at her Clamperl who was hiding behind the beach chair.
"I didn't really need to see that, but good job, Clamperl." said Lori.
