Reaper of Rome chapter 4- first clashes
This chapter will cover 26 – 31 [ but jump around some episodes]
I will cover the main battles against the squad 11 guys as well as Renji vs Ichigo fight.
But I will cut some stuff out for other pov since I want to only focus on Ichigo and Rukia
I will get into a few different tricks that Ichigo uses in both battles.
Ichigo pov
As we fell Ganju seemed to do a quick spell to make our landing much softer. I mostly hoped the other members of the group were okay and how they may have landed safely and if the other soul reapers had caught them. It wasn't long before our landing that we ended up meeting two soul reapers, one with a bald head and the other had a pretty boy nearly bowl cut. The bald man then did a weird dance while the two of us tried to hide until the man noticed us further. Ganju wanted to just run but I wanted to stay and fight. While we argued the two got closer and Ganju soon ran away while the pretty boy made chase
When the man asked why I didn't run, I told him It wouldn't matter. But I was sure I was pretty much evenly matched for this bald guy. I wasn't completely sure, but I wanted to try and mix sword play with my ability to shape silver weapons. As the battle started the bald man, he used both sword and scabbard to fight me in a two-hand type style. But I was able to use makeshift silver shields to help make the difference and even land a good hit.
During my battle, I wondered how Ganju was fairing and if he would escape and leave me behind. it was then the man revealed he had cream to treat the cut on his forehead as I wiped the blood off my face. He then said to me, "If you want to treat your injury your way, feels free." I then took a piece of ambrosia candy really quick before he went into his next attack. The man then asked me who taught me soul reaper style of combat and I mentioned Kisuke, and the man seemed to know his name. then wanted to fight me even hander. i knew when I was able to get back to camp Jupiter I would further train with a large blade but never really had the chance to use one but my training in the legion helped my reflexes.
It was then the bald man seemed to give it all and released his zanpakuto by fusing it with his scabbard. His blade then turned into a spear in its new form. I then thought I figured the blade's reach but soon learned it was not just a spear but a sectional staff as well. I then took a hit to my hand but with the ambrosia in my system I could feel the wound closing. I still was able to use the bandage part of my sword to be able to hold the blade while I was healing.
Rukia pov
While I was waiting and trying to figure out what was going on from the noise alone, I managed to hear a few explosions and remember Hanataro's food and how good it really was. I also wondered about the fate of Ichigo and if he really could save me in time. It made me wonder what the cause of said explosions could be.
Ichigo pov
After his next attack, i countered each move the man made but in turn he countered me as well. it was after I few more rounds of battle, I figured out the man's battle pattern and prepared to end it in my next move. It was as I did my final slash from above full of spirit energy and shattered the zanpakuto of the man I know knew as Ikkaku. He still wanted to fight but his body clearly wasn't listening to his will to fight. He then tried to attack me with the blades, but his body couldn't keep pace as my next attack was able to bring him down with ease. It was after that I heard a few explosions in a row and figured Ganju's fight was also over.
It was a few minutes later, he woke up as I used his medical cream to treat both of our wounds. I also learned from that, the zanpakuto returns to its sword state after the user is defeated. I knew it was best to wait for the man to wake up to see if he knew the location of Rukia. When I told him our party size Ikkaku just laughed hard enough to open his wounds. But soon he told me Rukia was at the tall white tower and that I didn't have much longer to stay in this area. but he also warned me his captained named Kenpachi Zaraki would be after me.
It wasn't long after leaving Ikkaku, that I started to run and was thanking the fact my legion training transferred into my spirit body. it wasn't much longer until I ran into a mob of soul reapers. At the same time, I wondered about the fate of my other friends. I hoped Uryu could keep Orihime safe from the mobs of soul reapers.
It wasn't long until the mob all attacked, and I ended up having to force them away with spirit bursts. It wasn't that much longer that I ran into Ganju, who was being chased by his own mob of soul reapers. It was then we ended up catching another short soul reaper that we planned to use as a hostage, but the mob didn't seem to care about the guy as they talked about squad politics and how the guy, we captured named Hanataro was from the healer squad that the mob after us didn't like. But it was soon an explosion that helped us escape with our new hostage. I also wondered how much Ikkaku talked about us and if he would guide the captain to us. It was after that he talked to our hostage as he agreed to help fix us our injuries and help us save Rukia.
The short boy agreed to get us to the white tower via the sewer system and then told us he was one of the few that knew the sewer system. He told us squad four would do the grunt work. Then we asked the boy why he was helping us, and he said "I knew Rukia and got to know about both her and about you Ichigo Kurosaki. She seemed to have a high level of affection for you. On what level I can't really say. But I do want you to save her." That made my heart swell and wonder if she really did love me back. Hanataro told me he got to know Rukia as he fed her and helped clean her cell up. then he told me Rukia told her all about the living world and how to open juice boxes.
It was after he led us to the place, we finally emerged through a white tile. The area was full of fog and he pointed us decently close to the tower, but we would still have to walk further. When he made it to the step, before us stood Renji and I knew I needed to test all my training against him.
The battle started with Renji Smack telling me as I approached him. He blamed me for Rukia not being able to get her powers back but since I lost them Rukia should've got hers back. It made me start to wonder briefly if something else was keeping her from regaining power. but all that left me as I prepared to fight.
As we clashed blades, Renji was asking me if I really could save Rukia. It was like the man was testing if I could do it just as much as trying to regain his honor. With my raising power, I was still able to match him even if his power was five times stronger than when I fought him last. I knew mine was at least that much higher if not even better. I could tell he really wasn't much stronger than the level I had just hit.
I remembered all my lessons about attacks and when the best times to counter where. But the man was able to get inside my defense. Then I remembered how both Urahara, and my roman teachers taught me to counter monsters. I soon figured when all hope was lost, I had the spirit attack I used to remove my soul reaper trainer's hat. I then released the blast, and it sent him into a wall that knocked him out.
Chapter end
I wasn't aware just how much filler and stretching out this part of the anime really had.
The next chapter will deal with more aftermath as well as get into the next battles and what else is happening in the background.
But first I will start a new story of what would happen if the nameless girl that became Caterina found a strange card around the moment she awoke to her memories of her past life and how it will change her future.
