Reaper of Rome chapter 8- reveal and next stages.
This chapter will reveal to the group the truth behind why Rukia was set to be executed as well as set Ichigo and Rukia on their next path in life.
This will be on the shorter side and only cover episodes 60-63 along with my own content to set Ichigo and Rukia up
Ichigo pov
It wasn't long after I felt, I reached into my bag and ate another ambrosia candy and hoped it would heal me fast enough so I could get to Rukia and make my way back to the living world and then to camp Jupiter. But even I wasn't sure it would work out completely. But I knew I was already healing.
Rukia pov
I could just tell the battle was over and just wanted to wait for Ichigo and his answer. I also wondered where camp Jupiter was and how I would get there. I was wondering if he would ask me to marry him right away. my thoughts then moved as I asked Renji, "is it possible Ichigo or his friends have ties to the death of Aizen?" he replied "no, the only lead I heard was captain Ichimaru." That made me wonder if he has something to do and why that man crushed my will to carry on. He then said "Momo has been after Captain Ichimaru for the last few days as well. I kind of believe he could have done the murder, but I don't know the how or the why. I just heard rumors about it." that made me wonder if Aizen might not be dead and has been using another trick, but I wondered how.
Renji then said "I always found it strange that Aizen gathered so many people to show off his zanpakuto. He might not have been showing off his real zanpakuto. It is possible he could have even been lying all of this time." It was as he said that captain Tosen arrived to block our progress even as Renji asked him to let me through. Then he used a strange ribbon to surround us. The next thing I knew we were back on the hill again with Aizen and Ichimaru behind us. then Aizen told Renji "Put Rukia down and walk away." as I wondered if I was the key to something.
Ichigo pov
It was after I took the candy to recover and my friends were helping me get back to Rukia, I heard a message from the lieutenant of the fourth saying captain Aizen was the traitor all along that ordered Rukia to be executed by using a mass manipulation ability. I could tell it was all true due to feeling Rukia back at the execution site. I know knew escape wouldn't be needed and Rukia could get out of this Scot-free. But I still wanted to make the confession in private and bring her to camp Jupiter but that could wait.
Rukia pov
It was while Aizen ordered Renji to drop me, I heard a message from Isane saying he was the traitor and the one that ordered everything. Then as Renji refused to let me go Aizen attacked but Renji was able to at least block a little. Aizen claimed to not want to kill but was clearly not be truthful and when Renji asked about Momo, he claimed to have mercy killed her. After Aizen confirmed his intentions, Renji released his blade to try and defend me, but Aizen seemed to have the perfect counter to get my old friend to the point of barely holding on to me. I begged Renji to let me go but I knew he would die holding me if it saved me. It was as the glasses captain was about kill the red head, Ichigo came to block the attack. Then he made fun of Renji for not being able to escape.
The two then started to get into an argument until I broke out and punched Renji. It was after the two traitor captains started to talk about Ichigo getting through. I knew for us to get away Aizen would need to be stopped. The two then prepared a counter move to break through but Aizen was able to counter Ichigo's attack perfectly and cut him. then go after Renji in a flash as well. It was then he came for me, but Ichigo prepared to defend me but was to hurt to do so. It was then Aizen revealed to reach the next level of soul reaper power we would have to become like hollows. Then he revealed he was behind the death of the man I had a crush on through his experiments.
Next, he revealed Urahara placed the item that could do such inside my soul body after he gave me the gigai and that's why my powers didn't recover after so long. He also revealed this gigai is why he was cast out of the soul society and that until I am freed from the gigai I won't be able to regain my power. The shop owner was using me to hide the device but seemed to be able to take it away. but a large dog headed man shouted Aizen's name and was about to attack.
Aizen soon confirmed this dog headed man in soul reaper garb was captain Komamura and he had dog like traits. I heard Ichigo same Lycaon as he tried to reach for something in his bag. But Aizen blocked the dog man's attack with ease. I then watched Aizen take down Komamura with ease using a powerful Kido. It was then Ichigo's friend arrived but were stopped by a spirit pressure field.
Ichigo pov
I was while Aizen was focused, I took another ambrosia candy and watched the glasses captain hold Rukia. He then explained how he had set up Rukia over two months ago. Then he told us how he faked his execution and then said he would either need the bird sword to burn it out another way. That other way was a strange glove that made spikes so he could stick his hand into Rukia chest and pull out a tetrahedron like object. It was then the hole in Rukia closed and he was about to kill Rukia. But at the last minute her brother saved her from the sword. I could tell I clearly did a number on Byakuya. Then the next attack came from Kukaku and Yoruichi and another soul reaper with the giant soul reaper helping as well.
It was then more soul reapers arrived and it seemed Aizen was dead to rights but the man only smiled as from the sky came a hole and out of it came many menos grand followed by something more powerful that sucked the three enemy captains into the sky and gave them an escape route. A route they couldn't be interacted with. it was as the captains asked their new enemy questions Aizen mentioned the gods and I wondered if he was talking about a single pantheon or all of them. It was then Aizen took his glasses off and slicked his hair back as he fully rose into the sky.
It was after that, the medical soul reapers came and started to heal everybody with Orihime working on my wounds personally.
Rukia pov
Being the only person on the battlefield that didn't get to fight, I had to watch, and everybody treated the injured. I soon went to my brother, and he revealed his wife was really my older sister. He told me about how her and I died very young, and she raised me in the society. He mentioned that her name was Hisana and that our mother was a musician, and our father was a foreigner that met her twice and gave her two children and was very much like the sun. Then he told me that my sister ended up leaving me alone but felt guilty about it. my brother told me that she died from a disease while trying to find me and made him promise to find and adopt me. He then told me part of the reason I was adopted was to help produce and heir to the family in the future. He also told me in doing so he broke a law and had to vow to never do so ever again. my brother said he was very much broken up over vow to follow the law and the vow to keep me safe.
It was while looking at him, I couldn't help but glance over at Ichigo and Byakuya said to me "don't be afraid to break a law like I did and if you have feelings for that boy go to him after he is stable and say what you need to. Don't like your life with regrets." I knew with those words I had to be the one to confess first and see where life took the two of us, I wanted to find out where this camp Jupiter was and learn about all the sides of Ichigo's life.
Ichigo pov
It was while I was recovery, I ended up in a light sparing match with the bald soul reaper Ikkaku. But our match didn't last long until Zaraki arrived and took things too seriously. I healed faster than I guessed due to ambrosia, and I couldn't get into a long fight due to a meeting I had to meet with captain Kyoraku about a few things later. I ended up escaping through the window and heading to my meeting.
When I made it the eighth division and his office, we discussed the fact that I would get paid for everything I did including helping to weed out the traitors within the squads. He gave me an envelope that had a bank card and a bank book and on checking it had a large sum of money. Then he said "with you, we will form bonds with the roman side of the supernatural world. you are going to have to stop by twelfth to pick up a few devices we can talk with your supervisors later on." I then asked him "how did you know I was roman?" he replied "your mother talked with me during your recovery period, the goddess Diana mostly revealed your heritage, and you were with the roman demigods. I learned of Rome when I was alive and met with Thanatos a few times over the years. We have had to trade souls from time to time. He always brings good booze when he stops by. Once you get back to camp, I will talk with the camp leadership about your situation. We will need to keep in touch whenever Aizen attacks again. I am sure you will get a promotion on your return."
It wasn't long after leaving and trying to figure out where the twelfth was, Orihime came to me with a Rukia sized dress and said "Uryu wanted you to give this to Rukia. That left me having to try and find her to give the dress.
Rukia pov
I knew while she was in the soul society, I needed to visit with Kukaku about her brother and I made sure to say "I am sorry I had to kill your brother, but I had to do it due to the actions of the traitor captain Aizen. He created the hollow that took over the bodies Kaien and his wife and I was forced to mercy kill Kaien before his fate ended the same way his wife did." She then thanked me for being honest and putting an end to her brother before he became hollow food. Then her brother thanked me for clearing it up as well. then the older sister said "if you get another chance to get revenge on Aizen take it.
It was a little later that Ichigo came to me holding a new dress in his hands. Then he we both asked the brother and sister for a little privacy so we could talk alone. I then said to him after they were far enough away, "I love you with all my heart my stupid strawberry. I would love to spend some time with you at camp Jupiter. I want to learn all about your life." Then his reply came in the form of kissing my lips and he said, "I love you as well short stuff, and I would love to show you how new Rome looks and for you to meet my camp friends."
It was after that, I ate dinner with Ichigo at Kukaku's very strange house and then slept in the room with Orihime, Kukaku and a very boyish girl named Tsugumi we all talked, and I revealed I had a little time to recover my spirit power before returning to work as a soul reaper. it was then Ichigo had to stop by the twelfth to pick up a large pack full of things to bring to camp when we headed there tomorrow with the help of a person named Lupa. On the way back we met with Urahara, who gave Ichigo another pack and said take this to camp with you." It was after that, we sleep at Ichigo's house for a few hours until two large wolves gave us a ride to a place I had never been.
Chapter end
The next chapter will deal with Rukia and Ichigo heading to camp as well as dealing with a new treat.
But first Katerina will get one last moment of peace before facing her greatest enemy so far
