Link was helping Rusl to gather wood in Faron Woods, and things were going pretty well. The two were enjoying the peace and quiet the Woods offered. They had finished for the day and were resting in Faron's spring, when Rusl spoke up.

"Tell me Link, do you ever feel a strange sadness as the sun sets?" Rusl asked. Link was confused by this question and turned to look at his friend and mentor. Everyone in Ordon Village knew one another and rarely ever fought, though the children often got themselves or others into trouble. Rusl and Link were the only ones who could defend the village, but they both helped with jobs around the village since there wasn't much to defend it from anyway. Lately though, things have gotten more dangerous in the woods and the animals have been acting incredibly restless. Link had also been sleeping in due to restless nights of sleep.

"I can't say that I do, Rusl," Link replied. "Why do you ask?"

"They say this is the only time when our world crosses with theirs. In the hour of twilight, some say if you listen closely, you'll hear the regrets of those who have passed from this world." Rusl continued. Link looked back at the twilit sky in thought. After a moment of silence, Rusl spoke up again, looking to Link.

"But enough of sadness; I have something to ask you. You've never been to Hyrule, am I right?" Link looked back at Rusl and nodded. "I was supposed to deliver a sword to the Royal Family in two days. Link, would you go in my stead?" Link gasped. He had always heard of the Fields of Hyrule and the other places around them, but he didn't expect to ever go there.

"Are you serious? You really want me to go?" Link asked, stupefied. Rusl chuckled and nodded.

"Yes, I'm serious. I've already been all across Hyrule, so I decided I wanted to give you the chance to go and explore it yourself," Rusl said. Link hadn't been to Hyrule before, because he always wanted to help whoever he could in any way possible. Lately people had needed more and more help due to the monkeys causing problems. Link didn't know what to say. He was torn between staying to help people and going out to explore. In the end, Link knew this chance only came once a year and decided to take it.

"Alright Rusl, I'll do it." Link said with a grin. Rusl smiled and stood up.

"Thank you, Link. Now come on. It's getting late and we should head back now." Rusl said, holding his hand out to Link. Link took his hand and was pulled onto his feet. Link took Epona's reigns and began walking home, but as they left the clearing, a bright light appeared over Faron's spring. They turned around, shielding their eyes from the light. The light vanished as quickly as it appeared, leaving the two swordsmen dazed. Link was the first to recover from the daze and spotted a figure lying unconscious in the water.

~Sam's POV~

I struggled to wake up, feeling water on my back. My instincts told me I was nowhere I'd been before, so I tried even harder to break the wall between me and consciousness.

A light heavenly voice called out to me. "Sam, you must be ready to face the challenges ahead. Be prepared for anything, and guide the friends you meet to victory." As soon as the voice finished, the wall barring me off from consciousness vanished and I could hear other voices.

"Go ahead and send Epona ahead; the girl seems to be waking up." He said. The GIRL?! Are these guys blind!? Hey, wait a minute… I realized my body didn't feel the same as before, almost as if it wasn't my own. I opened my eyes, now fully conscious and looked down at my body to find that my suspicions, much to my horror, were actually true. At least my clothes covered up the things I knew would cause me a bit of trouble and embarrassment in the future. However, I was wet from lying in spring water, and the way the water moved against my body made it all too uncomfortably clear what my new equipment felt like.

I knew I was somewhere I'd never been to before, so I tried to act as such despite vaguely recognizing it. I looked around me and saw plenty of trees and high hills, but what stood out to me were the two blonds sending a horse down a path. It took a moment, but I recognized the younger man as Link, and his horse, Epona. There weren't many duos who looked like that, but what took me a moment was the sheer quality of how they looked. It was certainly a wonder to see them outside of a screen.

In any case, I tried my best to quell my emotions, and calmly asked, "Where am I?" Of course, I knew I was in Hyrule; Link being present was enough evidence, but the way they were looking at me suggested they saw something big and I came from it.

"Um… you're in the land of Hyrule, in Faron Woods. Are you hurt or anything? You came from some kind of white light. Do you know what that was?" Rusl asked.

"I'm fine, thank you." I said, getting up. "I'm sorry, but I can't say I know what that light was. All I know is it suddenly appeared from the sky above me when I was heading home and when it hit, I was knocked out."

"That's a shame. What's your name?" Rusl asked. Crap! I'm a girl, and I don't know if Sam is considered a girl's name here! What am I going to do? I thought fast, eventually settling on the first name that came to my mind.

"I'm Gilda," I answered. I hold out my hand. "And you are?" Rusl shakes my hand and answers with his name, and Link likewise.

"Come on, I'll take you to Ordon. The Mayor will want to see you tomorrow." Rusl said. I nod and follow them. "For now, we should find you a place to rest."

Alright, you're doing fine Sam. Just keep it up until you know how to get home, or at least until it's the right time. As we crossed a bridge, I took a minute to recall the details of what I'm seeing. Seeing as I'm in a legend of Zelda game, I know shit's either already hit the fan, or it's going to soon. I'm gonna need to prepare… at least as much as I can. I'm gonna need more info to figure out which game I'm in… gods, it's been forever since I played a Zelda title. This is gonna be a pain in the ass to figure out. Eventually, as we stopped by Link's house Rusl spoke.

"I can tell you aren't from Hyrule. I haven't seen that style of clothing anywhere across these lands. Would you mind telling me where you're from, Gilda?" Rusl asked. I looked down at my OMG Cat T-shirt, my very short blue shorts, and my sneakers with a galaxy design on them. Should I tell them? Or should I make something up? I hesitated, but I decided to explain my world as best as I could (without giving away what I know about Hyrule) as soon as the right prompts came up.

"Well, I'm not sure how to explain it. I don't know what Hyrule is like," I lied. It was more or less a delay until I figured out which Hyrule I'm in. We arrived at Link's house, but Link didn't go to his house. Instead, he stayed with us. We walked into the village itself and I looked around, looking like I was inspecting the village, but I was really taking it all in with a sense of nostalgia. I loved to play Twilight Princess, and now I'm actually in the game. But… then I realized that came with nearly a dozen decisions I needed to make.

"Wow, this place…" I stopped myself before I let it slip that I knew this place. "It doesn't look like it's anywhere near the advancements there are back home. Then again, it is only a village." I said. "I'm going to need to know more about Hyrule. I don't really know how to compare our worlds just yet."

"Hmm… I suppose I could talk to Mayor Bo about sending you with Link to deliver the gift to the Royal Family," Rusl said.

"Alright, that sounds like an idea. Maybe a trip out there would help clear things up." I agreed.

"Gilda do you know how to use a sword?" Rusl asked. I looked at him with false confusion.

"No, not efficiently, but I can fight if I need to. Why do you ask?" I responded. I wasn't lying, I knew how to use a sword but I had absolutely no practice with it.

"There are monsters all across Hyrule and it's dangerous to travel without some form of defense. I'd like to put you to the test tomorrow. First, let's unload this wood and then I'll take you to my house to rest." Rusl said.

We got busy unloading the wood, and I found that my new body was stronger than my old one. I managed to unload a majority of it, and it was done very quickly. Rusl looked up at the darkening sky as we wrapped things up.

"Dusk is settling in. We should all get some sleep." He said. We all agreed, though Link was a bit hesitant which earned him a suspicious look from Ilia and the two went home. Rusl ushered me to follow him inside, so I followed him in.

"Will you be okay sleeping out here, Gilda?" Rusl asked, gesturing to his couch. I nodded with a reassuring smile.

"Yeah, I'll be fine. Don't worry, Rusl." I said. He nodded and went to his own room. I sat down on the empty couch and let myself drift off into sleep.
