Puyo Puyo Nep!: Dimensional Vacation

By TheBlackKid

Chapter 1 – An Other-Worldly Weekend

HELLOOOO, READERS! Name's Neptune, The cute and lovable Protag of all Protags! I'm the CPU of Planeptune and one of the goddesses of Gamindustri! I may look and act immature. But my name's in the title for a reason! Pretty nepping sweet, huh~?

Anyway! As for what I'm doing today in this wonderful world of Gamindustri…

"Let's see…place that there, sign this, stamp those, put all of this over there…man, this "work" stuff is easier than I thought. Makes me wonder why I kept putting this off…"

Yep! You better believe it! I'm actually WORKING! As in doing official stuff like document signing and all that jazz! And I know you all are probably shocked at this and going "What?! She's working?! This ain't the Nep that I know!".

Well, don't you worry, my ever-so devoted fanbase. This "Nep being responsible" phase is only temporary (a-as much as it stings to admit that). I have a totally legit reason to be taking my job as a goddess so seriously for once (a-again…stings really hard to admit that).

And that reason is…

"Sis. IF and Compa are here."

Oh! Hold that thought! I gotta showboat a little!

"Well, well…Iffy and Compa." I said with a cheeky-like grin as I greeted my two Planeptune friends. "What could the two of you need out of your most wonderful goddess Neptune as she diligently works on such important documents? Hmmmm?"

"*sigh* You know, Nep…I came to see if what Gear and Histoire said about you ACTUALLY working for once was true…and yet all I see is you being a jackass about it." Iffy said with a disgruntled look.

"A jackass that's actually WORKING! Oh, yeah!"

"R-Right…"

"Even though Nep-Nep's doing work, it doesn't seem like anything's changed." Compa said with a sweatdrop.

"Yeah…that seems to be the case." Nepgear added with a sweatdrop of her own.

So, for all the newcomers joining in this time around…I'll go around and introduce the three people who just entered the room just to witness me doing my own work for once in my everlasting life.

First up is my little sister Nepgear. She's what's known as a Goddess Candidate. Meaning that she'll take over in ruling Planeptune once I step down or something like that. As if that will ever happen…

A lot of people describe her as the complete opposite of me. Personality, intelligence, appearance (especially appearance. She has a bigger chest than me)…but I don't let that bother me.

M-Most of the time.

Next is IF (though I call her Iffy). She's this tomboyish-looking brown-haired girl who's always serious about everything. Probably because she's the nation's top intelligence agent for something like that. I don't pay attention to that kind of stuff. That's Histy's job.

And rounding out the trio is Compa. She's a kind and caring girl who works as a nurse at a nearby hospital. No matter what happens, she's always there to heal our wounds. Such a good party member to have around.

There are other characters to bring up…but I'll talk about them later. I'm already tired of this "introductory character" crap. It's usually Nepgear's thing.

Don't want to change my character profile TOO much, you know…

"Still, though…what's with the sudden passion to work, Nep?" Iffy asked. "Normally, you would just put this off for a long as possible and get Histoire pissed at you."

Or "Pisty" as I like to call it…

"Oh, you know…just wanted to change up my ways a little. That ain't bad, ain't it?"

"Uh-huh…" Iffy then turned to Nepgear. "…So, what's the real reason, Gear?"

"Y-You mean you don't believe me?!"

"Your lies are kinda easy to read, Nep-Nep..." Compa said with a sweatdrop.

"Hmph! Easy to read, my cute protag butt!" I pouted.

"Anyway…" Iffy continued. "…What's the deal with her working?"

"Well, I would say…." Nepgear said. "…But it's rather hard to explain."

"Hard to explain?" The two girls looked at Nepgear with confused looks.

"Well, you see…"

"It is okay, Nepgear. I shall explain it."

"Oh, Histoire."

"Hey, hey! Histy! It's been three days already! Do I get my end of the deal, or what?" I asked eagerly to the tiny woman book fairy."

"Okay, one. That description of me is highly offensive." Histy said with a mildly pissed-off tone. "And two…I suppose you did enough work. Therefore…you may go, Neptune."

"YES! SCORE! I FINALLY GET TO GO!"

"Huh? Wait, go where?" Compa asked.

"To go see my cousin, duh!"

"What?" Iffy and Compa's confusion only grew from there.

"That's why I said it was rather hard to explain…" Nepgear gained a sweatdrop.

"W-Wait, hold on. You two have a cousin?" Iffy asked.

"Well, cousins." I said. "But they're technically one in the same. So, it doesn't really count."

"Wh-What?"

"Neptune, please do not confuse them much more than they already are." Histy said. "Anyway…what Neptune said is true. They do indeed have cousins."

"How is that even possible? Weren't these two born like how they are now due to people's belief in goddesses turning into Share Energy?"

"Yes. But that does not matter since they are not here."

"Not…here?"

"Neptune and Nepgear's cousins do not reside in this world. Or in this universe, for that matter."

"What?"

"This is really hard to understand. My brain hurts." Compa whined.

"Perhaps it is best to stop here for now." Histy gained a sweatdrop.

"Wait, so…is these "cousins" are the reason Nep's been working these past few days?" Iffy asked.

"That's right." Nepgear said. "Sis has been begging Histoire to let her go see them. So much so that they eventually made a deal. Sis does some CPU work and Histoire will get the warping process set up. This was three days ago, by the way."

"I see now. So, there was an actual reason for Nep doing work."

"I'm surprised that it wasn't pudding-related." Compa said.

"H-Hey, I don't think about pudding ALL the time!" I yelled. "What do you guys take me for?!"

"A pudding-addict?" Compa said.

"A highly questionable girl?" Iffy said.

"My older sister who is often mistaken for the younger one?" Nepgear said.

"A Goddess who does not take her responsibilities as well as she should." Histy said.

"That was SO a rhetorical question." I said with a pout.

"Well, Neptune. Since you did what I asked of you, I suppose a deal is a deal. The departure will be scheduled for tomorrow."

"Yes! Thanks a bunch, Histy! You're the best tiny woman book fairy ever!"

"I am glad that you are grateful, Neptune. But please stop referring to me as such a title." Histy grew mildly pissed again.

"Well, then. I hope you have a good time, Nep." Iffy said.

"Please bring back souvenirs." Compa added.

"Sure thing." I said. "I'll bring back the weirdest yet coolest thing that world has to offer."

"S-Sis, please don't. That sounds dangerous." Nepgear said with a concerned look on her face.

"You're not going with her, Gear?" Iffy asked.

"I promised Uni I would help her out with something. Rom and Ram are going to be there, too."

"I see…"

"Alright! I'm gonna go pack!" I cheered as I rushed to my room to do such a task. Clearly I was excited for this trip. After all, I did something I thought I would never do in order to make this happen.

And it'll all be Nepping worth it!

Hello-! The name's Amitie! I'm a student at Primp Magic School in the peaceful Primp Town! My dream is to become a wonderful magician. I'm not that great at studying, and maybe a bit clumsy, but I'm always the cheerful one. Nice to meet you!

And, uh…I would go into more detail about myself. But right now, I'm kinda busy.

With what, you ask? Well…

"You've reached Absymbel! It's the Boss Rush stage! Keep on pushing, Amitie!"

"Right!" I yelled as I mashed the buttons on my controller to shoot down all these bosses. First was Godarni, the two dragons attached to each other. They spit out three fireballs each. Making them a rather pain to deal with. But not entirely difficult.

Next was the Barbarian. A creepy-looking floating old guy head that surrounds itself with a bunch of those Looper things. Once you get rid of them, the guy goes down in just a few hits.

Third was Squilla. Can't believe they threw the first boss at me. The thing was nothing more than a joke.

Forth boss was…ah, crap. The Idas. These giant stone face carvings weren't that tough on their own. But the boss version was so hard. I remember constantly dying on this one back in Geeza. Such an unfair difficulty spike!

For the fifth boss, it was a rematch against Salpedon. It's basically a skeletal version of Godarni. Not that much different.

Syura was the sixth boss I had to face again. It was another floating head shielded by enemies type of boss. Only this one isn't an old man's head and is just a stone face. And the shield was just rocks. Probably the most normal-looking boss in the whole game.

"One more boss to go! You're so close, Amitie!"

"I can do this! I can do this!"

The seventh boss…it was Valda. A skeletal version of Squilla. Unlike its living counterpart, though, this one's actually a challenge. Its movement speed is a lot faster and it shoots out more fireballs. It made a lot of sense to make this one the final boss of the game. Even if it is just a reskin.

Or rather…lack of skin.

"Come on…just a few more hits…just a few more and…"

Once the thing went down, we saw the words "CONGRATULATIONS YOU WIN" appear on the screen in all caps. And it was clear to us what it meant.

"Get real…I won. I won! I beat the game!"

"Nice going, Amitie! I knew my special cousin was just as good at retro games as I was!" Said a lilac-haired girl who was cheering me on the whole time.

"*giggle* Thanks, Neptune. You were totally right. Retro games are fun and exhilarating."

"See? I told you." My cousin said with a smile on her face.

O-Oh, yeah. I should probably explain that, huh? Well…this lilac-haired girl with bangs and white hair clips in the shape of D-pads is my cousin Neptune. She came by to visit me for the weekend and brought her MASSIVE collection of retro video games with her for me to try out.

This one game in particular was called Space Harrier. A third-person arcade rail shooter where you play as a guy with jet-propelled laser canon shooting at anything that comes your way.

And I gotta say…it was a BLAST! No wonder Maguro likes these games so much!

A-Anyway…you're probably wondering where Neptune is visiting from, right? Well…she's actually from an entirely different world.

D-Don't look at me like that! It's true!

She's from this place called Gamindustri, an entirely different world that resides in this…"universe" (as Neptune calls it)…known as Hyper Dimension. I would prove it…but I've never actually been there myself.

As to how we're cousins…l-let's just say Mom made things complicated again. A common thing she does for some reason.

Despite her being known for being extremely lazy…

"So. What do you wanna do now? Play another game?" Neptune asked me. "I've got PLENTY more to show off!"

"Eh, I don't know…that game was rather long. I'm getting kinda tired…"

"What? Aw, come on, Amitie! To be a true hardcore gamer, you've gotta sacrifice all of the unimportant stuff! Like sleep, a sizeable meal, work…hell, even bathing gets in the way!"

"Yeah…I don't want to be a hardcore gamer." I said with a huge sweatdrop.

"Ugh…are you two finally done with your game-a-thon? Maybe now I can get some sleep…"

"You're still sleeping? It's almost 1:00 in the afternoon." I said to Rivitie after she had gone into the kitchen for something to drink.

"Hey, unlike you working at a museum/library, my job's tiring as hell. Hunting down evil demons isn't the easiest thing in the world."

"Uh…that really shouldn't be easy, Rivitie." Neptune gained a sweatdrop of her own.

So, this may be a bit complicated to explain, but Rivitie's my twin sister. What makes it complicated is that, thanks to our mom, Rivitie was sealed away inside of my old Red Puyo Hat due to how cruel she was when we were younger. It took an entire adventure in a completely different world for the truth to all come out…but we're making it work together as a trio.

Even if Rivitie is the complete opposite of me in every way possible. A huge hurdle for me, honestly.

"*sigh* Whatever…at least today I finally get a day off. I'm so freaking exhausted…"

"Sounds like you could really use a vacation, Rivitie." Neptune said.

"Yeah…and she's not the only one." I added while pointing across the room where Mom was passed out on her computer for the 5th time today.

"How long has she been working on that thing?"

"The whole week. Even did a few all-nighters."

"Wow…"

To clarify a bit, my mom's an author. She writes light novels and has them published by Akuma…which are then made available to read in the library.

Recently, though…her workload had increased tremendously. Because one time while she was visiting, Hinata borrowed one of Mom's books and accidentally took it home with her…in Toyama. She ended up losing it, someone else found it, read it, and…long story short, it became a best-seller in that world.

Now she has to deal with revisions and deadlines and all that other stuff writers constantly struggle with. And it's REALLY taken a toll on her.

It's honestly one of the few times I feel sorry for her…

"Mom…Mom! Wake up! You're drooling all over the keyboard!" Rivitie shouted into Mom's ear as she shook her body to get her up.

"H-Huh~?! Oh…*yawn* damn it. I fell asleep again." Mom then got up from her chair and stretched as she looked around the living room.

"Oh…hey, Neptune. When did you get here?"

"I-I've been here the whole weekend and you're NOW noticing?!" Neptune yelled in shocked anger.

"*yawn* Well, sorry. I've been really busy as of late. Ever since Hinata somehow made my RE: Madou Monogatari series popular in that Toyama world, I've been doing double time trying to keep up with demand schedule. And it's a hell of a lot brutal over there…"

"Hinata's still apologizing to this day…" I said with a sweatdrop.

"I can't remember the last time I took a break. I'm so fatigued that my own skeleton could fall apart~…"

"Sounds like you guys could use a vacation." Neptune said.

"We would…" I said. "…if we could afford one. None of us exactly making the "big bucks" with our jobs."

"Plus, there isn't a place for us to go." Rivitie added. "Primp is basically in the middle of nowhere."

"Hmm…" Neptune then began thinking to herself. I would ask what she's planning…but honestly, I'm too tired to even do that.

I could really use some sleep…especially after playing that game for several hours…

*KNOCK* KNOCK* *KNOCK*

"Oh. That's probably Lidelle and Feli." I said. "I told them to bring some food on the way here."

"Oooh~! Free food from friends! Did they bring any pudding?"

"Pudding is not food, Neptune." Rivitie said.

"*GASP* RIVITIE! HOW COULD YOU SAY SUCH AN AWFUL THING?!"

"Why are you mad?! I'm right! Back me up here, you two!"

"Well, I mean, if you can get full from eating it…" Mom said.

"Ha! I can TOTALLY validate that! I've gotten full from only eating pudding the whole day countless times before! So, that PROVES that it's food! Hahahahaha!"

"It's amazing how you're not fat, Neptune…" Rivitie gained a sweatdrop.

Leaving the pointless conversation to those three, I opened the door to see that my friends Lidelle and Feli had finally came over. Along with the food that I said to bring with them. Thank God…because alongside being tired, I was so freaking starving!

Another reason why I will never be a hardcore gamer…

"Yay! Food's here!" I cheered as I grabbed the plastic bag from Lidelle's hands.

"Nice to see you too, Amitie." Lidelle said sarcastically. "So, where's my tip?"

"Up your ass to the left. *giggle*"

"Seriously?"

"Saw that coming from a mile away." Feli said while trying to hold in her laughter.

"*sigh* You two and these jokes…" Lidelle's exasperation only grew from there.

These are my two best friends Lidelle Namanari and Feli Kuromi. The three of us have gotten closer as friends due to us often being dragged into some…pretty insane stuff. To put it lightly.

And as you would expect…since this is Primp Town, they aren't normal in the slightest.

Lidelle, for example, is the daughter of a demon king who used to rule Puyo Hell before Satan (who is also her brother). And is known as The Demonic Princess. Being the future ruler of Puyo Hell herself.

She's also obsessed with Mario Kart. She'll play it for DAYS if somebody doesn't stop her.

Makes her somewhat less threatening…

Feli has a bit of a weird backstory of her own. Get this…she originally wasn't born here. She somehow got to Primp from another world known as Toyama. And it makes her known as "Japanese"…whatever that is.

The three of us often travel to that world. And we even have a few friends there! Let's just hope they don't get stuck here like Arle and Ringo, though.

That seems to happen a lot…

"So, what were you doing that required us to bring you food?" Lidelle asked me.

"Oh, yeah. I was playing video games with Neptune."

"Neptune…so, she's visiting again?"

"Heya, girls~! What kind of food you brought, huh?!" Neptune cheered as she leaned over me.

"If you're hoping for pudding, then you're flat out of luck." Feli said.

"Aw~! Why does nobody have any pudding around here~?!"

"Because we don't get high off of pudding like you do." I said. Which resulted in Neptune finger-flicking me in the head.

"Well, if you're looking to get full, Neptune, then I've got the meal for you!" Lidelle cheered.

"Oh no…" I gained a worried look on my face. "…What did you make this time?"

"*giggle* Introducing my latest creation: Hot Chocolate French Toast! It's French toast ganache sandwiches dipped in a hot cocoa mixture, cooked to a golden crisp, and topped with coconut whipped cream, toasted marshmallows, toasted coconut, and a good drizzle of more ganache! It took me a whole week to get this deliciousness perfect! Mmm~…my mouth's already drooling in excitement~!"

"Aw, geez…" Feli and I facepalmed hard.

"L-Lidelle…that sounds like a lot…" Neptune said with a worried sweatdrop.

"Don't worry, Neptune. If you can't finish it, I'll just snarf the rest of it down in one bite. I've been practicing."

"And that sounds downright terrifying…" Neptune then gained a pale look of fear.

Lidelle once again proving that her appetite's more traumatizing than her freaking title…

Neptune's POV

So, then after eating (well, okay ATTEMPTING) to eat the food Lidelle brought over, I decided to bring up that conversation we had earlier. About Amitie, Rivitie, and Melody wanting to go on vacation…but not having the money to do so and not having a place to go.

This brought up my own little idea…

"T-Take a vacation…in YOUR world?!"

"That's right!" I cheered to my shocked cousin Amitie. "Here's a once-in-a-lifetime chance to visit my homeworld and relax to your heart's content! Pretty sweet, huh?"

"Well, uh…"

"Is this legal?" Rivitie asked. "I feel like we're breaking some interdimensional laws or something."

"It's totally fine. After all, I'm here."

"But you're known for breaking rules on a regular basis."

"W-Well, yeah, but…" I gained a sweatdrop from that very true statement.

"What are you two so worried about? It's a free vacation. Something we've all wanted." Melody said. "Plus…I'm betting that it'll be fun exploring an entirely different world. Especially since you two have done it several times before. And leaving your poor mother out…"

"Why are you pouting?" Both twins retorted with exasperated looks.

"If you guys are worried about the legal stuff, then I can totally get Histy to approve it." I said. "She like TOTALLY owes me for working up a sweat for once."

"Who's Histy?" Lidelle asked.

"Well, for one, her real name's Histoire." Amitie said. "And she's like…Neptune's guardian or something."

"H-Hey! Histy's not my GUARDIAN, of all things!" I yelled. "If that were the case, then I wouldn't be the ruler of an entire nation!"

"But between both her and Nepgear, you don't seem to do anything related to that."

"I-I've have many great protag ideas!"

"Really? Name one."

It was a good five minutes of me trying to think about any and all ideas I've had that benefited Planeptune and Gamindustri as a whole. Which made me realize how uninvolved I am in ruling my own nation.

Maybe Histy's long lectures did have some meaning to them…

"Wh-Whatever! The point is that I'm inviting my extended family to stay for a week in my world. Is that really such a bad idea?"

"Well…not really." Amitie said. "I have been rather curious about what your world is like…"

"Plus we could all use the break." Rivitie added. "Some more than others…"

"Ha! And I can finally cross "Travel to another world" off of my bucket list! It's great all-around!" Melody cheered.

"Why do you have THAT on your bucket list?" Amitie asked with a sweatdrop.

"You know, you guys are welcomed to tag along if you wanna…" I said to both Lidelle and Feli.

"Seriously?" Lidelle said in shock. "Well, if you insist, Neptune…"

"Kieeeeeeeeeee! No freaking way! A chance to explore an entirely different world?! That means that there are other sources of power out there! Ones unknown to the likes of us! No way in hell am I missing THIS opportunity~! Fufufufu~!"

"Calm down, you creepy loli."

"Sh-Shut up~! I'm not a loli~!" Feli whined.

Woah…I've known her for a couple of weeks at this point and yet I still can't get used to Feli's split personality trait…

"So, when are we able to start this "other-worldly vacation"?" Amitie asked.

"Well, uh…first I gotta get Histy's approval on this. But once she agrees to it, you all will be living the Neptunia life! A-At least for a week."

"Heh. Sounds like you're going to be springing this on her at the last minute." Rivitie said with a smirk on her face. "I can only imagine her reaction~…*giggle*"

"H-Hey! This won't be last minute! I can guarantee you that it'll all be perfectly fine!"

"Really now~?"

"Yes, really! By my official title as Protag of all Protags, this will be 100% okay!"

"What is she talking about?" Feli asked Amitie.

"It…only makes sense in her world…" Amitie replied with a sweatdrop.

Author's Note: And so begins a new version of my Puyo Puyo X Neptunia story! This one being simplified as a week-long vacation for Amitie and friends in the world of Gamindustri.

...

And yes. The name is corny as hell. But the original name for the story was long and honestly kinda bland. And this one made me chuckle a bit. So, it stays.

As stated in Megadimension Puyo, I wanted to restart this idea into a story that wouldn't take me more than 4 years to complete. My goal for this one is no more than 13 chapters. Hopefully, I can make this work.

By the way, I did reuse stuff from the previous story. So, if anything here looks familiar, that's why. This is the only chapter that will have reused stuff, though.

Thanks for reading. Later.
