I was sitting in the Great Hall when someone slumped down across from me, followed by another.
"Do you mind?" I heard Sirius Black say.
I looked up from my book into grey, worn-out eyes, and shook my head.
Sirius Black with his handsome features and striking eyes had drawn the attention of several girls our year who sent him hordes of chocolates and cookies, which he and James suspected were baked with the banned potion. They stalked him for hours, waiting for him in the hallways with their load of spiked chocolates, giggling as they dove off to their next class. Even now, while James and Sirius sat down for their lunch break, the girls would walk past him intentionally in the dining hall to eye him longingly and wave meekly. To Sirius, the attention was exhausting.
"Can't wait for Valentine's Day to be over," I heard Black say, his voice muffled.
To which, James replied. "Give the girls a chance" and "Any chance Evans will go to Hogsmeade with me?"
"Don't think she even likes you, James."
James, ever in denial, began sulking then. I felt sorry for him then.
"Ever been to Hogsmeade, Remus?"
I looked up to see Sirius's eyes on me, waiting for my answer. "I've been too busy" was my excuse. Hogsmeade outings happened one weekend of every month, but with my load of homework, I never had the time.
"You need a break from studying," James remarked. "Come with us this weekend. We're thinking of heading to the Three Broomsticks for some butterbeer."
