"How did you know?"

"Um.. know what?" Motoko replied to Sasha when the two were alone and out of earshot of the rest of the people in the house.

"How did you know to give me that baby short circuit program? It saved my life. But how did you know that I would need it?" The older netrunner rubbed her new chrome arm.

"Oh, that? It just made sense."

"What? How?"

"Well, after seeing you in the Afterlife club, I got bored and looked up what I could about you. Found out about your sister and what happened to your mom. Sorry about that, by the way. It got me curious so I cross referenced her condition with all the other similar cases and found that they had one thing in common."

"Securicine."

"Yep. Made by Biotechnica. So I figured you would eventually go after them, and they had robots guarding the place and my hack works great against robots. It's all basic prep work."

"What?"

"You know. The normal research you do before a gig."

Sasha just stared at Motoko in confusion.

"The data you present at your crew's briefing before heading out to minimize unwelcome surprises?"

Sasha kept staring.

Motoko finally awkwardly smiled, "I'm just glad you're alive, Sasha."
