Epilogue

Feliciano entered the house, finding Vlad in the living room with a necklace in front of him.

"How's it coming along?" Feliciano asked.

"Ten minutes," Vlad said. "That's good. I just need to get the kinks worked out. But it means that I can at least change classes now."

Vlad had been working on the necklace, which Lukas had picked up from a store. Vlad had compared the magic of his old amulet, which was made to protect against supernatural creatures that meant him harm, and tried to apply the same type of magic to the new necklace, only instead of supernatural creatures, it would be against the sun. Considering even ten seconds in the sun caused a lot of pain for a vampire, going ten minutes without harm from the sun was good.

Feliciano had spent the day in his flat, working on a painting. They decided to keep that flat, along with the old mansion. One way that vampires maintained their hold in an area was to have as much real estate as possible. Feliciano's former coven had a few other places, which they still needed to figure out what to do with. But at least one other flat would be sold.

As expected, not all of the vampires were eager to accept their defeat. The coven had split into three: those sired by Romulus, those that came from Gilbert's old coven, and then there was Gilbert and Antonio, who wouldn't leave each other as they were a mated pair. The two of them were on their own now, with their respective brothers remaining with the others. But with the split, they became three weaker covens, and each realised that it would be safer to leave. Vlad's coven had been the strongest at that point. When Feliciano and Gupta had gone to the mansion to ensure that the others had truly left, they found the building completely abandoned.

The supernatural community tried to take advantage of Romulus's death, but the Kirklands managed to prevent things from getting out of control. And Vlad and their coven managed to get their own little niche. The other creatures were still wary of this new vampire coven, but with a naga and a werewolf as members, they were more receptive to their coven.

Vlad was also trying to keep up with his studies. Even though it was still early in the term, there was already quite a lot of work. Luckily, the class notes were put on the university's internal site. He'd emailed a doctor's note to each of his lecturers, and he was booked off for two weeks. The Kirklands had a doctor that they reserved for supernatural residents that needed a bit of help.

Feliciano sat down next to Vlad as the younger vampire put the necklace down.

"I'll try again tomorrow," Vlad said. "It sucks that I can only test it during the day."

"You still haven't been able to sleep yet?" Feliciano asked.

Vlad sighed and shook his head. Normally, a vampire was exhausted during the day and entered a deathlike state once they were sleeping. But Vlad had been unable to sleep since he was turned. Vlad had tried, but after the third day of being unable to sleep, he had opted to spend the day on other things, like his university work and the necklace.

"Gupta thinks that it might have something to do with how I turned," Vlad said. "I mean, nothing about it was normal."

Feliciano nodded. It was a plausible explanation.

"Does it bother you, being unable to sleep?" Feliciano asked.

Vlad was silent for a moment, before he shook his head.

"I wouldn't say that it bothers me," he said. "It just gets a little boring. And lonely. Especially since Lukas and Arthur are on campus most of the time during the day. Which is why it's so important to finish this."

Feliciano smiled and placed a kiss on Vlad's cheek.

"I'm sure you'll manage it," Feliciano said. "But for now, why don't we go out? There's still a lot of the city that you haven't seen yet."

Vlad smiled softly.

"Just as long as nobody I know sees me," he said. "I'm still technically on sick leave, after all."

"I can think of a few places where that won't be an issue," Feliciano said. "But there's no rush. After all, the two of us are immortal. We have a lot of time to do everything."

Vlad chuckled.

"That we do," Vlad said. "And I can't wait to do all of those with you."

And it's done. Thank you to those who stuck with this story. I'll be on a bit of a hiatus as I work on the next story, but I'll still be updating Hetalia Crack Ship Space.
