Chapter 30: Kageyami's End and a Miracle to Yusuke

Everything was slipping away.

Yusuke could feel it—his body shutting down, his energy fading.

His limbs were heavy, too heavy. His chest felt empty, hollow.

His heartbeat was slowing.

The moment the dagger had pierced him, the moment Shigure had begun the transfer—

He knew.

He had given too much.

But he didn't care.

If it meant Keiko would live, he would pay the price a thousand times over.

His breath shuddered as he forced himself to stay upright, kneeling beside her motionless body. His vision blurred, but he refused to close his eyes.

Not yet.

Not until he knew she was okay.

Not until he heard her voice one more time.

But the longer he stared, the colder the world felt.

Keiko still wasn't waking up.

Her chest barely moved.

Her hand was still limp in his grasp.

And Yusuke—

Yusuke felt his heart breaking.

"Keiko…?" His voice cracked.

She didn't answer.

His hands tightened around hers.

"Keiko, come on—wake up."

Nothing.

His breath hitched.

His fingers shook.

No. No, no, no—

He had given her everything.

He had poured his entire lifeforce into her.

So why wasn't she waking up?!

A sharp, crushing pain gripped his chest.

The air felt thicker, suffocating.

His vision spun.

His body swayed.

He was running out of time.

But she still wasn't moving.

Yusuke gritted his teeth. His nails dug into his palm, desperate to stay awake.

He wasn't gonna let go.

Not yet.

Not until she opened her eyes.

"Keiko, please…" His voice broke.

"I need you."

A beat.

Then—

A sound.

Soft.

Fragile.

A breath.

Yusuke's heart slammed against his ribs.

And then—

Her fingers twitched.

His breath hitched. "Keiko?"

Her eyelids fluttered.

A weak, soft whisper—

"…Yusuke…?"

The second he heard it, he collapsed.

His forehead pressed to hers, his arms trembling as they wrapped around her tightly, desperately.

"Keiko," he choked, "you're awake—you're alive."

His body shook violently. His breathing was uneven, ragged, overwhelmed.

For the first time in his life—

Yusuke Urameshi cried.

Tears burned his eyes, slipping down his face before he could stop them.

He didn't care.

He didn't care that he was weak, or exhausted, or that the entire world was watching.

All he cared about was her.

She was alive.

And Yusuke—for the first time in hours—

Could finally breathe.

Keiko's weak fingers brushed against his cheek.

She smiled softly, tiredly.

"You saved me," she whispered.

Yusuke let out a broken laugh, pressing his forehead harder against hers.

"Always."

But just as relief started to settle—

The air shifted.

A deep, impossibly powerful presence filled the space.

And then—

A shadow loomed over them.

A titan. A god.

KING ENMA.

The moment his massive form stepped forward, the ground itself shuddered.

Even Shigure—*a man with nerves of steel—*visibly tensed.

And Yusuke—

Yusuke didn't move.

Because he had nothing left to give.

He just looked up at the enormous, divine figure, breathless, exhausted.

"…Great timing." Yusuke's voice was hoarse. "You here to lecture me or something?"

King Enma's booming voice shook the air.

"Yusuke Urameshi."

Yusuke raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, yeah, that's me. What now?"

Enma's eyes glowed like molten gold.

"You saved two human souls today."

The weight of the words hit him immediately.

Two souls.

Keiko.

And their child.

Yusuke's chest tightened.

Enma's gaze didn't waver. "Such an act is not overlooked in the realm of spirits."

And then—

The air crackled with divine energy.

A decree unfolded before them, glowing with ancient, sacred power.

Enma's deep voice echoed across the battlefield.

"As a reward for your actions, your sacrificed lifespan will be returned."

Silence.

Yusuke's mind blanked.

Wait. What?!

The second the words registered—

A surge of warm, golden power poured into his chest.

The breath Yusuke had been struggling to take—

Came easy.

The weight on his body lifted.

His heart, seconds ago weak and slowing—

Began to beat strong again.

His life was being restored.

His *future—*the years he had given up—

They were his again.

Yusuke's mouth fell open slightly.

"…You mean I get to—?"

King Enma nodded. "Live."

For a long, long moment—

Yusuke just stared.

Then—

He laughed.

A real, raw, disbelieving laugh.

A laugh that rumbled deep in his chest, shaking with exhaustion and relief.

He wasn't gonna die.

He wasn't gonna leave Keiko behind.

He wasn't gonna leave his kid behind.

He was gonna live.

Keiko's fingers tightened around his.

He turned to her, his heart so full, so damn full he thought it might burst.

"I'm not going anywhere," he whispered.

Her lips trembled.

And then—

For the first time in hours—

She let herself cry.

Yusuke held her, his arms secure, his body whole.

The Demon World had fallen silent.

The war was over.

Kageyami was gone.

Raizen had returned to the afterlife.

And Yusuke—

Yusuke Urameshi was finally free.

But more than that—

He had won.
