Louise was awoken by the pleasantly warm light of early summer. Excitement brimmed within her as she came to her senses, stretching and giving a pleased hum as she turned to her still sleeping wife, gently rousing her with her hand.
"Hey, Siesta," Louise softly spoke.
Siesta briefly scrunched her face in regard to sudden consciousness before her eyes fluttered open.
"G'morning Louise," Siesta slurred, a bleary smile crossing her face.
Louise giggled before leaning down to kiss her wife.
"C'mon, get up. I have something to show you." Louise hopped out of bed and threw on her khaydarin necklace, willing it to form into a short-skirted pink dress with black stockings.
"Mmkay. Be right up," Siesta groggily acknowledged as she slumped out of the bed, groaning against the waking world.
A short while later, and with Louise giving off palpable feelings of excitement every step of the way, they were outside. Siesta, who had chosen to be adorned in a simple black skirt and vest with a white blouse underneath, was still rubbing the sleep from her eyes even as her wife looked to her with stars in her eyes.
"Mind telling me what this is about?" Siesta chuckled.
"World door," Louise answered.
Siesta gave an imploring blink.
Louise turned away, twisting her face in concentration.
"I know we sent an envoy group to Zeratul's universe, but I think we should be more proactive about getting them home."
Siesta continued giving her wife a confused look to prompt her to continue.
"So," Louise turned back to Siesta, softly smiling, "I think I should practice it. Maybe the more I do the larger I can make the door and the longer I can sustain it."
Siesta rolled her eyes up in thought.
"That makes sense." Siesta nodded approvingly.
Louise's smile grew.
"But," Siesta's face fell into contemplation, "where to?"
Louise hummed in thought. "Remember what Sarah told us? About the thousands of worlds and 'stories' involving me? Involving us?"
Siesta nodded, still giving her an imploring look.
"Well why not start with that? Keep it simple," Louise said, raising a finger and winking.
Siesta giggled at Louise's exuberance.
"Besides," Louise's eyes came alight with excitement, "think about it! It goes anywhere right? We can go anywhere! Places we know. Places we don't. Places beyond this world. Beyond this universe. Like where you told me about. Think of the possibilities! Think of what we could learn! Who we could meet! Isn't that exciting?!"
Siesta smiled as she now understood Louise's full intentions. This was her wife's other fire. The one that was lit by the possibility of learning. Curiosity. Louise was alight with it, and it warmed Siesta's soul.
"It sounds truly fascinating, Louise, but… where would we even begin? We wouldn't want to end up somewhere dangerous." Siesta's smile became tinged with worry.
"After what we've faced?" Louise said as she took Siesta's hands and blushed, "I don't think there's anything we can't handle."
Siesta amorously smiled at her wife. They each leaned forward into a deep, affectionate kiss before Louise giggled and pulled away, producing her wand as she did.
Louise pointed the wand before her and began chanting.
Siesta waited with both patience and anticipation. Maybe a little bit of dread as well.
Once her chanting was finished, a shimmering green portal was opened, and on the other side, Louise found herself immediately looking in a mirror. Both Louise and her twin went wide-eyed, with the Louise that was married to Siesta having a dot of visible excitement. Louise turned back to Siesta, who was giving an awkward smile as she stepped forward, waving.
"Hello again," Siesta awkwardly greeted the other Louise.
The other Louise returned the awkward smile and wave.
"Louise, what's going-Oh!" the other Saito, who had just approached, looked at them both with momentary shock that swiftly faded to a fondness. "Good to see you."
Siesta nodded before looking at her Louise.
"So, my dear Siesta, can I count you in?" Louise asked, the widest of smiles on her face.
Siesta gently kissed her wife, causing the other Louise and Saito to look and cry out, scandalized and flustered, respectively.
"Oh, my dear Louise…" Siesta began with a giggle, "…where you go, I go."
AFTERWORD
And with that, their story is done. If you are reading this, and have not just skipped here, I cannot thank you enough. Ever since I read that fic by emptycoffeecup (I hope you're doing well. Whoever and wherever you are) it lit the fire of creativity in me I hadn't felt in so long, and the seeds of potential I saw in it I just felt I had to nurture to bloom.
I don't know if I did them justice. I hope if they ever see these fics that they'll simply be happy that they inspired something. I don't know.
What I do know is if you read this far? I am eternally grateful.
And I must also say something.
This story, obviously, was never mine to begin with. I cannot claim ownership of it. And because of that? I leave it to you. Whoever finishes this and the other parts? You can do whatever you want with anything in this and the preceding stories. Remix it. Repost it. Do a dramatic reading of it. You have carte-blanche. You don't need my permission.
Maybe I'll hate what you do with what parts I can claim to have truly made. Maybe I'll love it. It doesn't matter.
What matters is if you love it.
I don't expect any of this to be done. I just hoped that this shows my gratitude to any who found value in these stories I told.
I hope you were entertained. I hope you found something to grab onto. No matter how small.
Once again…
Thank you.
