Here's part two!
It took me a while before I actually started writing this chapter because I actually got sick while writing the last chapter (another reason why I ended it early).
I also realized I forgot to address some things mentioned in the chapter. I'll address them in this chapter (hopefully) and since I'm in the mood I'll say some facts about Neoma and Kelvin :)
1. Kelvin actually has ADHD which is why he took medication in the last chapter (even though his meds don't help XD)
2. Neoma is actually Egyptian.
3. They both have the title of "Guardians". (What they're the guardians of I won't say ;))
As they went down the elevator, Kelvin asked the man, "So who's instructor are we meeting?"
"We're meeting your instructor kid," he said.
"What about my instructor?" Neoma asked.
"The board hasn't completely decided on who should be your instructor since no one in the institute knows both Xyz and Ritual." The man replied. "So for now, my friend will teach you and your friend the basics of duel monsters."
"Who is our instructor anyway?" Kelvin asked.
"You'll see soon."
Kelvin looked down before seeing an engagement ring on the man's finger. "Are you engaged?" He asked.
Noticing that Kelvin saw his ring he replied. "Yes."
"For how long?"
"Five years."
"Why haven't you married who you're engaged to yet?"
"Kelvin, stop asking personal questions." Neoma said.
"I'm just curious." He replied.
The elevator stopped and the doors opened to a large cafeteria. "They had a cafeteria here?" Kelvin asked.
"Of course they do." The man said. "How else are we supposed to feed our students."
They walked out of the elevator and they followed the man a bit. The cafeteria was mostly empty. They then walked towards a familiar face.
Joey noticed them. "Hey Tristan! What's up?" He called out.
"Joey!" The man, now known as Tristan, said. He walked up to Joey and they did a hand wrestler. "Nothing much. Just doing my job."
Joey nodded before becoming serious. "How's Serenity doin'?" He asked.
Tristan looked away. "Unfortunately, her condition hasn't gotten any better." He said.
Joey sighed at the news.
Behind Tristan, Kelvin whispered, "How do they know Irene?"
"They're talking about someone else."
Kelvin whispered. "So Joey's our instructor?" Kelvin asked.
"Kelvin." Neoma addressed, in a hushed but fed up tone. "Two words. Shut. Up."
Joey then noticed them and said, "Hey I saw you two earlier."
"Nah, we saw you five years ago." Neoma said, sarcasm evident in her voice.
"Oh, I almost forgot." Tristan admitted. He was to focused on the conversation that he almost forgot. "Joey, the board decided to assign these two to you."
"Why me? Shouldn't these two be put in a normal class?" He asked.
"They're a semester behind all the other classes so it was decided that they would each be given private instructors."
"Then why are they both assigned to me?"
"You're the only one who knows Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, AND Ritual, so you're the most suited for the job." Tristan's phone then rang. "Hello." He answered. He waited a few moments before saying, "I have to go take this privately. Can you teach these two?"
"Sure." Tristan then ran off.
After a bit, Joey was able to find a small classroom to teach in. Kelvin was sitting across from Joey, with a duel mat on the table. Neoma was sitting at the side.
"I thought you're supposed to use duel disks to duel." Kelvin said.
"They are, but before the Arc System was made, people used these to duel." Joey said. "I want you to get familiar with the basics first before you use actual duel disks." He took a card in his hand and placed it down. "First, I summon Alligator's Sword."
[Alligator's Sword(4/ATK:1500/DEF:1200/EARTH/Beast/Normal)]
Joey started explaining all the different, "stats" as Kelvin would like to call them, while Neoma secretly recorded so their comrades back home could learn.
Once he was done explaining, he said, "Now I end my turn."
"I'll play..." Kelvin looked at all the cards in his hand before playing one. "This one."
[Blue-Eyes White Dragon(8/ATK:3000/DEF:2500/LIGHT/Dragon/Normal)]
"Kid you have to tribute two monsters to summon-" Joey stopped his explaining when he realized. "Kid, where did you get this card?"
"Oh, I-"
Neoma abruptly covered his mouth before he could blow their cover. "He found all his cards on the ground."
He remained skeptical and said, "Wait here. I'm gonna go make a phone call."
He left the room and Kelvin said, "What was that about?"
As Joey left the room, he dialed a certain number, of a person he didn't like.
The phone rang until a male voice came up. "What do you want, Wheeler?"
"Nice to hear from you too Kaiba," Joey sarcastically remarked. "Quick question did ya give away any of your Blue-Eyes White Dragons to anyone? Or did ya lose 'em?"
"Why are you wasting my time with these pointless questions?" Kaiba sarcastically asked. "Of course I did give my cards away and I didn't lose them."
"Did Pegasus make more Blue-Eyes then?"
"No." Kaiba replied. "Now why are you wasting my time asking me this?!"
"I was teaching these two kiddos and one of 'em happened to have Blue-Eyes White Dragon." Joey explained.
"It's probably fake then." He replied before ending the call.
Joey went back inside the classroom and sat down and looked at Kelvin and Neoma.
"Is something wrong?" Neoma asked, noticing his stare.
"Kid, are your cards fake?" Joey asked.
"I don't think so." He answered nervously.
"Really," he replied. "There are only three Blue-Eyes White Dragons in the world and all of them belong to Money-Bags. So I would like to know where you actually got your cards from."
'We're so screwed.' Neoma and Kelvin thought.
Kelvin whispered to Neoma, "Should we tell him?"
"No. Declan knows already and it's too soon." Neoma said. "We have to make an excuse."
Kelvin took a deep breath before saying, "We got our cards from a rock."
Neoma face palmed herself. They were definitely screwed.
"Alright, I believe ya."
Neoma was shocked. "Really?!"
"Kid, I've been through a lot of crazy magic stuff," Joey explained. "I won't be shocked that you both got cards from a rock. Heck, its not to far fetched that there are other dimensions or realities."
Kelvin chuckled nervously, while Neoma kept her composure.
"Anyway, first . . ."
4 Hours later
"Okay kids, let's try this one more time," Joey said tiredly. "How do you pull off a tribute summon?"
"Place the card on the field." Kelvin answered with confidence.
Joey comedically fell off his chair. "No kid, you have to send a monster from your field to the graveyard to tribute summon."
"Which ones are the monsters again?"
Joey comedically fell again. "Geez kid. Have you never seen a duel or somethin'?"
"Yes."
Joey blinked. "Probably should've told me that sooner."
"Hey, Joey-" all the people in the room turned to the door where the voice came from. Standing in the doorway was the dancing lady Neoma saw earlier, who was just staring at the scene before her. "Is everything okay?"
"Doin' just fine here." Joey replied.
"Well just came to let you know that lunch is starting." The woman said before leaving.
Joey picked up his bag before saying, "You two better head to lunch. And here." He handed both of them each a text book. "Try and study some basics while your at it." He then left the classroom.
Neoma and Kelvin made their way to the elevator and headed straight to the cafeteria.
Several minutes later.
It took a while to get their lunches because the cafeteria was crowded but they managed to survive.
They both looked for a table to sit at when a fourteen year old girl with brown hair and blonde spiky bangs with pink-ish eyes sitting alone in the corner, caught Neoma's eye.
She nudged Kelvin who also saw the girl. "Do you want to sit with her?" He asked. Neoma nodded. They both walked over to the girl's table. "Can we sit here?"
The girl saw them and was a bit hesitant before nodding. They sat down across the girl, who took small bites from her sandwich.
They all just sat there for several minutes just eating their lunch in silence, which made Kelvin bored. "What's your name?" Kelvin asked the girl after a bit. Neoma shot him a look.
The girl didn't respond at first. "I-Inara Gardener." She whispered.
"What?"
"My name is Inara Gardener." She spoke up.
"Shining light." Neoma said.
"H-huh?" Inara was confused.
"She means it's a pretty name." Kelvin said.
"Oh..." Inara started to stutter. "U-um, w-what are your n-names?"
"I'm Neoma, he's Kelvin."
"Hi." Kelvin said with a big toothed grin. "Why are you sitting by yourself?" He asked.
Neoma kicked him from under the table, and he let out a quiet cry. Inara just stared at the duo. They seem interesting... she thought.
When Kelvin recovered he asked, "What was that for?!"
"That kick was for being insensitive," she then stomped on his foot hard, making him let out another cry. "And that was for being rude."
Inara sweat dropped. Are these two siblings or something? "Are you two related?" She asked, voicing the thought.
"I'd rather drown than share his genes." Neoma said.
"Same."
Inara giggled. "You two are funny."
"It's not intentional." Neoma said, taking a sip of her drink.
After lunch was over, everyone went back to class and Neoma and Kelvin said bye to Inara.
Joey wasn't in the class when they entered so they just waited for him to come back. Kelvin got bored very quickly and had an idea. "We should talk to Atlas and Irene."
"They're cards right now," Neoma pointed out. "How are we supposed to talk to them when they're sealed in cardboard?"
"Didn't Minerva say that it's possible for people to talk to cards?" He asked.
"That applies to duel monster spirits," she reminded. "It doesn't apply to people who are inside cards."
"What do you mean by that?"
Kelvin nearly jumped at the sudden voice while Neoma just flinched. They turned to see Inara standing at the door. "When did you get here?!" Kelvin asked, still a little jumpy.
"When she said something about people inside cards." Inara said. "What do you mean by that?"
"We're not aloud to say." Neoma said.
Inara stared at them for a few seconds before she sat down next to Kelvin. Neoma sighed in relief that she didn't press further. Then she realized something. "Why are you here?" She asked.
"Uncle Tristan said that Uncle Joey was in this classroom and he's one of my instructors." Inara said. "What about you two?"
"He's our instructor too."
"Okay." Inara then had an idea. "Do you maybe want to duel while we wait for him?"
"We don't know the basics yet," Neoma politely declined. "I can understand some of this game but Kelvin can't even remember which cards are spells and which are monsters."
"I'm still learning okay." Kelvin said. "This game is harder than it looks."
"Maybe I can help," Inara suggested. "My dad-" she paused for second before continuing. "-was a really good duelist. He taught me everything I know about the game with uncle Joey and my Great Grandpa. So maybe I could tutor you a bit."
"That would be appreciated." Neoma accepted.
Inara then sat across from them on the other side of the duel mat and started explaining. "Okay so first . . ."
30 minutes later
". . . and that's how traps work." Inara finished her talk on spells, traps, and monsters.
"Do you understand now Kelvin?" Neoma asked him.
"Kinda," he replied. "I just don't get why you have to 'tribute' a certain amount of monsters to summon ones with more stars."
"According to my mom, that rule didn't exist until Seto Kaiba made up that rule for his Battle City Tournament or something like that." Inara quickly muttered, putting her cards away.
They then heard the door open and saw Joey standing at the doorway, out of breath, as if he just ran a marathon. "Give me a minute." He said, trying to catch his breath. After a minute he said, "Sorry I'm late." He then noticed Inara and smiled. "Hey, Inara! How's my favorite lil' niece doing?"
"I'm your only niece." Inara said.
"Ya know what I mean." Joey said, ruffling her hair.
Kelvin looked at the two back and forth. "Are you both related?" He asked wondering how they're related despite the fact they look nothing alike.
Joey paused for a few seconds before laughing. "No, we're not."
"Then why does she call you uncle?"
"I think he's her surrogate uncle." Neoma whispered in his ear.
"Oh," he then turned to Neoma. "What does that mean?"
"Nevermind." She groaned.
"Anyway, let's start the lesson." He sat down and took out some of his cards. "So, do I need to explain tributing again or-"
"Inara already explained it to us."
"Okay then," Joey said, a bit relieved. "So what do ya kids want to learn next?"
"What does a real duel look like?" Kelvin asked.
"Huh?" Joey was confused for a moment. "You want to see a duel?"
Kelvin nodded vigorously. Neoma just shrugged. "Sure."
"Then let's get going."
A few minutes later they were at the duel court l and Joey was getting his duel disk ready before he realized. "Oh yeah, I need an opponent." He looked at everyone in the duel court. Almost everyone was dueling or teaching another class.
"I can duel you." Inara stood up and walked to the other side of the duel field.
Joey grinned. "Okay! Been a while since we've dueled."
Inara took out two deck boxes, one black, one navy blue. "Choose."
Joey thought for a moment. "Let's do the one on the left."
Inara nodded, inserting the cards from the black deck box in her duel disk.
"Duel!"
[Turn 1: Joey Wheeler] [LP: 4000] [H:5]
"Let's start off with sending Red-Eyes Black Dragon to the Graveyard to special summon Red-Eyes Black Meteor Dragon from my hand!" Joey took a card from his deck and sent it to the graveyard before summoning a black skeletal dragon with red eyes and wings.
[Red-Eyes Black Meteor Dragon(6/ATK:2000/DEF:2000/DARK/Dragon/Effect)]
"And now his level increases by one since I used this effect."
[LVL: 6-7]
"Then I 'll set two cards and end my turn." Joey said.
[Turn 2: Inara ???] [LP: 4000] [H:6]
"My turn then," Inara drew a card and looked over her hand. "First, I activate The Terminus of the Burning Abyss!" She took three cards from her hand after playing the card. "This lets me Fusion summon one Burnig Abyss Fusion monster using cards from my hand or field. I fuse Scarm, Farfa, and Libic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss to Fusion Summon!" A fusion vortex appeared above her and a fiend with giant wings and fangs, another fiend that was like a harpy with bat-like wings and white hair, and another with huge claws, entered into the vortex. "I Fusion Summon! Appear Level 9! Dante, Pilgrim of the Burning Abyss!"
[Dante, Pilgrim of the Burning Abyss(9/ATK:2800/DEF: 2500/LIGHT/Fairy/Fusion/Effect)]
"So she uses fairies?" Kelvin questioned, seeing the card information. "That doesn't look like a fairy though."
"Did those monsters she use to summon that monster look anything like fairies to you?" Neoma questioned.
Kelvin wanted to retort but paused. "No."
"Exactly."
"So that's da new monster Tea told me ya got." Joey said. "Very impressive."
"Thanks," she replied. "I activate Dante's effect! I send Graff, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss to the graveyard to draw a card." She drew a card. "And since I sent Graff to the graveyard, I can special summon one Burning Abyss monster from my deck." A card slipped out of her deck and played it. "I summon Libic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss!"
[Libic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss(3/ATK: 1300/DEF: 700/DARK/Fiend/Effect)]
"Hey Neoma, what's a Malebranche?" Kelvin asked.
"They're demons in the inferno of Dante's Divine Comedy-a poem-that guard the Bolgia five of the eighth circle of hell. It's probably what her deck's based on." Neoma informed him, being well researched on basically almost every mythical creature. "There's some back home in the Dream Realm."
"I activate Pot of Greed," Inara said, playing the card she drew from Dante's effect. She drew two cards. "Since I don't control any spell or trap cards, I can special summon the Tuner monster Rubic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss."
[Rubic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss(3/ATK:100/DEF:2100/DARK/Fiend/Tuner/Effect)]
"What's a tuner?" Kelvin asked. Neoma just shrugged.
"I think I know what's coming next." Joey commented.
"I tune level three Rubic with level three Libic!" Rubic turned into three green rings. Libic went through the rings and turned into three balls of light before becoming a beam of light. "I Synchro Summon! Level 6! Virgil, Rockstar of the Burning Abyss!"
[Virgil, Rockstar of the Burning Abyss(6/ATK:2500/DEF:1000/LIGHT/Spellcaster/Synchro/Effect)]
"Why are there musicians in hell?" Kelvin questioned.
"Actually, in the Divine Comedy, Virgil was Dante's guide through hell." Neoma informed. "I don't remember the poem mentioning that Virgil played music."
"Well that's just neat." Kelvin said.
"You're not holding back in this duel, aren't ya?" Joey commented.
"I am, unlike you." Inara confirmed.
"Eh?"
"I've seen you duel Uncle Joey." Inara said. "Unless you got a bad hand, which is highly unlikely with your luck, you probably would've done a lot more during your turn than just summon one monster and two facedowns."
Joey chuckled. "Okay. Ya got me. I just don't want this duel to end to soon."
"Hey, I've improved since you last saw me duel." Inara said.
"Well in that case, once ya done with your turn, I won't hold back." Joey said.
Inara nodded. "I activate Virgil's effect. Once per turn, by discarding a Burning Abyss card to shuffle a monster on your field or in your graveyard into your deck." She put one of the cards in her hand in the graveyard and pointed towards Meteor Dragon. "I'll shuffle your Red-Eyes Black Meteor Dragon into your deck."
Joey reluctantly took Meteor Dragon off his duel disk and put the card into his deck and reshuffled it.
"Now Battle! Virgil attack Joey directly!" The monster grabbed his guitar and attempted to attack him but instead of being worried he grinned.
"I don't think so!" He activated one of his facedowns. "I activate Red-Eyes Spirit. With it, I summon my good ol' buddy, Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"
[Red-Eyes Black Dragon(7/ATK:2400/DEF:2000/DARK/Dragon/Normal)]
"Well you'll have to say goodbye to him," Inara said. "Virgil, attack Red-Eyes!"
"He's not goin' anywhere." Joey said. "I activate Negate Attack!"
Virgil attempted to strike Red-Eyes but was blocked by a barrier.
"Let's try that again," Inara said. "Dante, attack Red-Eyes!"
Dante took his staff and struck at Red-Eyes, destroying it.
"Now I'll end my turn with a facedown." She said.
"Ya managed to wiped out my entire field." Joey complemented. "I'm impressed. But I'm not giving up."
"Didn't expect you too."
[Turn 3: Joey Wheeler] [LP: 4000] [H:3]
"My turn, I draw!" He looked at the card he drew. "I activate Card of Sanctity! We both draw until we each have six cards."
As they each drew their cards, Kelvin asked, "Wouldn't that also help Inara?"
"Yes, but it makes it a bit more fair," Neoma commented. "I don't think they would make a card that gives you a full hand for free."
"You got a point."
"Now I activate Red-Eyes Call! Which lets me add a level seven Red-Eyes monster to my hand." Joey said. A card popped out of his duel disk and added it to his hand. "I think I'll grab another copy of Red-Eyes Black Dragon." He then grabbed another card in his hand. "I activate Polymerization! I fuse Gearfried the Iron Knight with Red-Eyes Black Dargon!" The two monsters went into the fusion vortex. "I Fusion Summon! Appear! Level 7! Red-Eyes Slash Dragon!"
[Red-Eyes Slash Dragon(7/ATK:2800/DEF:2400/DARK/Dragon/Fusion/Effect)]
Kelvin stared at the Dragon in awe. "That dragon looks so cool!"
"Didn't you run away screaming like a little girl when we encountered a similar looking dragon in the dream realm?" Neoma questioned.
"We don't talk about that." Kelvin said, suddenly serious.
"Now I'll play Cup of Ace." Joey declared. "I get to flip a coin. If it's heads, I draw two cards. If it's tails, you get to draw." Joey got a coin and flipped it. He grabbed the coin and put it on his palmand uncovered it, revealing it to be heads. "Alright! I get to draw two cards!"
"Not like I expected you to not." Inara mumbled under her breath.
"Now I play Double Summon which lets me normal summon twice this turn." Joey declared. "I'll summon The Black Stone of Legend!"
[The Black Stone of Legend(1/ATK:0/DEF:0/DARK/Dragon/Effect)]
"By tributing this card, I can summon a level seven or lower Red-Eyes monster from my deck." Joey said. "I summon Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon!"
[Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon(7/ATK:2400/DEF:2000/DARK/Zombie/Effect)]
"Next I summon Level Replicator!" Joey summoned a woman with orange hair and a staff with stars.
[Level Replicator(1/ATK:300/DEF:300/LIGHT/Spellcaster/Effect)]
"With her effect, I can copy the level of Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon."
[LVL:1-7]
"I think I know what's coming next." Inara said.
"What's coming next?!" Kelvin asked.
"I Overlay my level seven Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon with my Level Replicator to Xyz Summon!" After he said this, a black hole suddenly appeared in the sky and Red-Eyes and Level Replicator became purple and yellow balls of light respectively, and flew into the black hole. "I Xyz Summon! Rank 7! Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon!"
[Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon(R7/ATK:2800/DEF:2400/DARK/Dragon/Xyz/Effect)] [OU:2]
"That dragon looks so cool!" Kelvin exclaimed.
"Now I activate Shield and Sword!" Joey declared.
"I thought it's supposed to be 'Sword and Shield'?" Kelvin said.
"This card switches the original attack and defense points of every face up monster on the field until the end of the turn!" Joey explained.
[Flare Metal Dragon ATK/DEF: 2800-2400/2400-2800]
[Slash Dragon ATK/DEF: 2800-2400/2400-2800]
[Virgil ATK/DEF: 2500-1000/1000-2500]
[Dante ATK/DEF:2800-2500/2500-2800]
"Okay that explains it."
"Lets battle!" Joey declared. "Slash Dragon attack Dante!"
"But Slash Dargon has less attack than Dante?" Neoma said. "Why would he attack?"
"Slash Dragon's effect!" He said. "When a Red-Eyes Monster declares an attack, I can target a warrior monster in my graveyard, equip it to this card, and the monster equipped gains 200 attack points! I equip Gearfried to Slash Dragon."
[Slash Dragon's ATK: 2400200 = 2600]
Slash Dragon shot a blast at Dante, destroying him.
[Inara's LP: 4000-100=3900]
"Since you destroyed Dante, you have to send a random card in your hand to the graveyard." Inara informed.
After a random card in his hand went into the graveyard, he said, "I'll activate Flare Metal Dragon's effect. Since you activated a card effect and Flare Metal has Overlay Units, his effect deals you 500 life points."
[Inara's LP: 3900-500=3400]
"Now Flare Metal Dragon attacks Virgil!" Joey declared.
But as the dragon destroyed Virgil, Inara declared, "I send Kuriboh to the graveyard to reduce the battle damage to zero!" A giant Kuriboh appeared and blocked the battle damage.
"Why didn't she play that during his first attack?" Kelvin questioned.
"Because she would've taken more damage." Neoma explained.
"I end my turn."
[Flare Metal's ATK/DEF: 2400-2800/2800-2400]
[Slash Dragon's ATK/DEF: 2600-3000/2800-2400]
[Turn 4: Inara] [LP: 3400] [H:6]
Inara drew before playing a card. "I'll activate Pot of Greed to draw two cards. Then I activate Good and Evil of the Burning Abyss! I use Scarm and Cir to Ritual Summon! Level 6! Malaconda, Netherlord of the Burning Abyss!"
[Malaconda, Netherlord of the Burning Abyss(6/ATK:2700/DEF:2200/DARK/Fiend/Ritual/Effect)]
Kelvin yelped at the appearance of the monster, almost literally jumping on Neoma, and sending them both tumbling off their seats. Joey and Inara turned to the duo who were scrambled on the ground. They sweat dropped.
Neoma groaned. "Kelvin, get off me before I kick your a—"
"Getting off." Kelvin complied, and they both sat down.
"We have faced things more terrifying than the devil himself. How are you scared of a hologram?" Neoma questioned.
"Sorry! Yeesh!" Kelvin said before muttering. "It may be a hologram but it's a realistic one."
The duel continued. "Then I activate Malaconda's effect. I'll send Farfa to the graveyard and one of your cards loses attack and defense points equal to his. I'll choose Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon!"
"That won't work!" Joey declared before the effect could go through. "When you activate an effect that targets a card I control, I can send Gearfried to the graveyard to negate that effect and destroy your monsta!"
Malaconda was destroyed. "Since you destroyed Malaconda, I can destroy one of your monsters."
Slash Dragon shattered.
"But since you activated an effect-"
"We know you don't have to repeat it!" Kelvin interrupted.
[Inara's LP: 3400-500=2900]
"I'll activate Monster Reborn to bring back Malaconda." She summoned him in defense mode.
[Inara's LP: 2900-500=2400]
"I'll set a card and end my turn." Inara ended.
[Turn 5: Joey Wheeler] [LP: 4000] [H:1]
"Draw." Joey immediately played the card. "I activate Card of Demise! Ican draw five cards but I have to discard my hand after my fifth standby phase." He looked at the cards he drew and smirked. "I activate Monster Reborn! Come on back Gearfried!"
[Gearfried the Iron Knight(4/ATK:1800/DEF:1600/EARTH/Warrior/Effect)]
"Now I haven't used this card in a while." Joey said. "I activate Release Restraint!"
"Uh oh!"
"Gearfried! I release you!" Joey declared. "I summon Gearfried the Swordmaster!"
[Gearfried the Swordmaster(7/ATK:2600/DEF:2200/LIGHT/Warrior/Effect)]
"That guy looks so cool!" Kelvin said. "He looks stronger than Cyrene."
"Wanna say that again Kelv'?"
He looked down to see that his bracelet was activated and a spectral image of a pissed Cyrene was on.
"Nothing!" He said, and the call ended.
Next to him, Neoma giggled.
(Thankfully Inara and Joey weren't close enough to see or hear them.)
"I equip him with Champion's Soul!" Joey declared. "Now he gains 600 attack points!"
[Swordmaster's ATK: 2600600=3200]
"Since he's equipped with Champion's Soul I can destroy a card on your field!"
Malaconda shattered. Unlike before, Inara didn't use his effect.
"Now battle!" Joey declared. "Gearfried! Attack her directly!"
The dragon shot at Inara who reached to activate her facedown before pausing and deciding against it. This surprised Joey.
[Inara's LP: 2900-3200=0]
[WINNER: Joey Wheeler!]
"That. Was. Awesome!" Kelvin exclaimed.
Joey walked up to Inara. "Why didn't you activate your facedown?" He asked.
Inara showed him the card. Dark Mirror Force.
"I see." Joey understood. "You couldn't actually activate it."
"I honestly don't know why I tried to use it." Inara said.
"Hey," Joey put a hand on her shoulder. "Every card has purpose."
"I know . . ."
"Sorry to interrupt but—" they both turned to Neoma. "—we are hyped up after that duel and now Kelvin will actually play attention."
Several hours later
After returning to class, Kelvin actually focused on the lessons and they were able to go through the lessons pretty quickly. Now Kelvin was just in his room reading his text book.
"Are you actually reading the textbook or are you just looking at the pictures?" Kit asked.
"I will punch you if you don't leave me alone." Kelvin said.
"Yeah, sure. Like a pipsqueak could pack a punch." He taunted.
Kelvin stood up, grabbing a random thick piece of wood and effortlessly karate chopped it. "Wanna try me?"
Slightly intimidated Kit backed off.
With Neoma
"I heard you talked with the quiet kid."
Neoma turned to Julia. "You mean Inara?"
"Yeah," she confirmed. "No one has ever talked to her. She only talks to Professor Joey, Professor Tea, and Professor Tristan."
"Well maybe some people should try talking to her."
"Well I never see her," Julia said. "But if she wanted to talk to people she would."
Neoma ignored her and looked at a card in her hand.
I hope Liora isn't causing mischief . . .
Meanwhile near the Sakaki's Residence
Sora looked at Neoma's locket in his hand. They had decided to rotate it amongst themselves for a reason that Sora couldn't remember.
He opened up the locket and looked at the pictures. The one with the old man looked a lot like Neoma. Probably her grandpa or something. Meanwhile the one with the odd eyed girl (he inwardly laughed at the resemblance to Yuya's Odd-Eyes) . . . Something just seemed off about her.
Well, that's not for him to dwell on.
He suddenly felt drowsy and fell asleep.
???
"When did I fall asleep?" Sora asked himself.
Sora found himself in an endless white void, no end in sight.
"You're not Neoma."
Sora swiftly turned around and tumbled over.
Standing there was a girl with blonde(?) hair and orange eyes. Her skin was very pale, almost white. She wore a purple-ish top with jean shorts and . . .
Was she see through?
The girl was suddenly right in front of Sora. And holding him by the neck. "Let's see what your hiding." The girls eyes started to glow and after a minute she dropped him. "So, you're one of those duel soldiers they talked about." The girl scoffed. "You seem quite small for a soldier."
"How did you—" Sora stumbled on his words. "Who are you?"
"Now why would I tell you that?" The girl rhetorically asked. "This is my domain. As long as you're holding her locket you remain here, Sora Perse."
"How do you know my name?!" He didn't know why but something about this girl . . .
Was just terrifying.
"I can see your memories." The girl answered. "Now I'm bored." The girl had a glint in her eyes. A ghostly axe with chains appear in her hand. "I suggest you run."
Finally! That took forever!
I quite literally had to stay up till 4 AM to finish this chapter! The duel was probably what took the longest!
I think I should start adressing the things I forgot to last chapter.
So in this fic Joey, Tristan and Tea all work at LID. Why? I'll let you figure it out ;)
And last chapter introduced some characters! Cyrene Cerelia and Minerva who are very important characters in my book! Cyrene and Cerelia are actually based off of two people I know.
Also in this chapter we meet Inara! An OC I made for this fic. She is the child of two certain characters and Gardener is not her real last name.
And yes, Joey is Neoma and Kelvin instructor. Kinda because I had no idea who else to take the role.
Also the reason why Inara uses two decks was mostly because I couldn't decide on a single deck for her to use.
also the ending of the chapter I think you can guess who the girl is. And don't worry Sora won't die.
That's all for now! I won't do the chapter reviews for now!
