Where is Sonic at right now?
He groans as he picks himself up as he finds himself in the alleyway, making him look around with confusion.
All he remembers is that he and Eggman raced through the time portal, only for Eggman to throw him down as a way to cheat in a fair game.
"Tch! I really need to stop thinking about jumping into danger." Sonic said until he's relieved that he has all the chaos emeralds with him.
Before Sonic runs, he's surrounded by a bunch of anthropomorphic rabbit men with baseball bats and chains as Sonic shrugs his shoulders and shakes his head.
"Let me guess, you're the Rabbit Gang." Sonic said.
"The hell are you doing on our turf, hedgehog?" A rabbit man asks while swinging his chains.
"This ain't a playground, little man, so scram." The other rabbit man hissed as he tapped a baseball bat on his shoulder.
Sonic is thinking that Eggman has placed him there on purpose in order to prevent him from shaving Meg's life.
On the plus side, Tekno said that the leader is a mother and is actually nice for a ruthless gang leader.
Before Sonic raises his arms, he immediately dodge as the chain misses him and then ducks as both chains tangled onto each other as both rabbit men exclaimed.
After that, many rabbit men charge towards Sonic as they pile themselves onto him and swing their bats downwards.
Little did they know, Sonic is on a light pole as he sighs and leans on it.
"Can't you guys let me explain?" Sonic is unimpressed while sticking his little finger in his ear and then rubs it on his fur.
"Hey! Get down from here!" A rabbit man yells from below.
"Gee… You all never wanted me to say anything. Hmph!" Sonic then zooms as he's running through the city under the dusk sky.
Before he escapes, Sonic is in a dead end as he's in front of the sea, only for him to look at a bunch of rabbit men, making Sonic raise his hand in a calm manner.
"Take me to your boss. I want to see her." Sonic admits while he surrenders.
"Good choice, hedgehog." A rabbit man ties up Sonic's arms with chains, making Sonic grunt while being pulled.
Some misunderstanding is what led Sonic to visit the gang leader of the past which made him nervous.
Inside the building, a younger Tekno runs towards the rabbit woman, who was sitting on a chair, showing her a robot puppy.
"Look, mom! I made a puppy!" Tekno cheerfully raises a robot dog that's barking.
"That's good, sweety. I'm sure you'll invent something more amazing." A rabbit woman shows a warm smile while patting Tekno's head, appreciating the creation Tekno made.
A sound has Tekno letting the dog run and head towards the door.
"Coming!" Tekno opens the door, only for a group of rabbit men to appear with a hedgehog boy. "Hey, guys."
"Hey, Tekno. Can you excuse us, we got a meeting with your mother." One rabbit man waves as he and his group are moving out of the way.
"Tekno?" Sonic is surprised that he came across a younger Tekno, making him look at the chair out of nervousness.
As Tekno leaves the room, all the rabbits kneel down as Sonic is left dumbfounded by an unknown mother being the leader, especially after he was told by Johnny.
"Boss Vanilla, we found nothing, but we have this kid trespassing our turf." Said the rabbit man.
'Is it really their turf?' Sonic thought as he squinted his eyes a little.
"Really? And who is the kid you brought in?" Vanilla asks while putting her tea cup down.
"He's a blue hedgehog and he's surprisingly fast." The other member answered.
Vanilla turns around as she appears to have cream fur as she appears more motherly than what she's known to be.
"You look like that fairytale Mary Garnet had written. Do you know who Sonic the Hedgehog is, young man?" Vanilla asks calmly while kneeling in front of Sonic.
"Um… Yeah. I know Mary Garnet. I also know Meg Gordon. Do you know where she is?" Sonic answers while nodding.
"Gordon? As in Henry Gordon?" Vanilla gasps with surprise, realising that Sonic looks exactly like the leather coat Henry wears.
"Yeah. He's Meg's dad." Sonic confirmed.
As the rabbits are murmuring, Vanilla raises her arm, silencing them all while standing back up.
"I want all of you to go home. I'll let you boys know when I prepare our next mission."
"Boss!" The rabbits leave after they bow and leave Sonic with Vanilla, making Vanilla sit back down and raise her hand for Sonic to sit on a chair.
After Sonic sits down, Vanilla hands him an empty cup while smiling towards him.
"Tea, juice or water?"
"Hm? Oh, um… Juice please." Sonic raises the cup as Vanilla pours some juice for him to drink.
Afterwards, Sonic and Vanilla are drinking together as Vanilla looks out of the window.
"For a child like you, you seem fearless when facing a gang boss like me. I guess I underestimated you, young man. Tell me, could you introduce yourself."
"I'm Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog." Sonic introduces himself while taking a deep breath and looking serious.
"Sonic. The fairytale in real life. Why do I have a feeling you're not from here?" Vanilla asked.
"Because…" Sonic reveals the green chaos emerald in front of Vanilla, leading her to gasp with surprise. "I need your help. A bald fat human named Eggman is cheating and he's about to change your world. He's about to destroy your turf."
To Vanilla's shock, Sonic is telling her that his Chaos Control is the reason he's there, making her think about the teachings of the chaos emeralds she had in her younger days.
"Chaos Control… A bald fat human?"
"Yeah. He had an ugly moustache. He's the reason our future is a mess. He's about to make it worse." Sonic grunts while clenching his fists, knowing his future is as screwed as everyone else's.
Vanilla is unsure if she agrees, knowing that it's dangerous to fight for the future that's about to be hindered.
"I'll think about that until tomorrow. You must be very tired." Vanilla retains her motherly attitude, much to Sonic's dismay.
"Seriously? I'm not that tired."
"Are you sure? I mean you did a lot before coming here, so it's normal to feel exhausted. I already prepared a bed for you. Come with me." Vanilla is leading Sonic out of the office and walks him through different doors as they stop near the middle room.
With Sonic being taken into a bedroom, he looks behind as he sees Vanilla's expression change from a motherly smile to a somber frown.
Looking out of the window, Sonic is watching the city that appears to be populated by humans with some anthropomorphic animals, making him look straight forward as he's thinking about what he'll do before he sees Eggman.
Time will tell if Vanilla accepts Sonic's plea.
20XX August 3rd
At the entrance of the building, Sonic comes across Vanilla and Tekno, making him halt as he watches Vanilla opening the door while holding Tekno's hand.
"Hm? Hey, you're that guy from earlier! I heard mom and her friends took you in! I'm Tekno the Canary!" Tekno introduces herself with a wider grin as her beak curves.
Sonic is speechless as he was already introduced by Tekno at South Island, only for him to be reintroduced in the past.
"Hmph. I'm Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog." Sonic points at himself with a confident smile and raises his hand towards Tekno.
"Sonic the Hedgehog!? I heard of you! You're a legend!" Tekno hops with joy which flatters Sonic.
"Aww, thanks, Tekno." Sonic rubs his head while laughing.
Vanilla giggles while raising her hand towards Sonic.
"Come on, Sonic, the boys and us are going to a restaurant for our breakfast." Vanilla said while pulling up a hood to cover her face from the public.
"Really? I mean sure." Sonic looks to the side as he still rubs his head.
With Sonic, Tekno and Vanilla walking outside in daylight, Sonic is surprised that the city is far bigger than Station Square, making him look around with surprise.
"Oh? You're new to this? Well, Sonic, today is your lucky day. Welcome to Chun-nan, one of the human owned countries and one of the biggest countries on earth." Vanilla is guiding Sonic to a place that is far different to what he's familiar with as oriental items are everywhere.
The writing is downright confusing as Sonic had a difficult time reading Japanese earlier.
Chun-nan
The city is way massive as Sonic looks around with awe, seeing humans doing business with anthropomorphic animals and their public is crowded, much to his discomfort.
As Sonic sees a marketplace, he realises how simple times once were without Eggman attacking everything in sight.
Finally, Sonic, Tekno and Vanilla enter the restaurant as she sees a bunch of hooded rabbit men waving, making Vanilla and Tekno wave back.
For an infamous gang like them, they're far more wholesome than everyone in the future made them out to be.
As the meal was ordered, Sonic and the Rabbit Gang are eating meals as well as passing some stuff over for one another.
"Man. To think we have Sonic the Hedgehog of all people working with us. How lucky is that?" One rabbit man laughs while eating.
"I know, right? Boss Vanilla, what are the plans for now?" The other rabbit asked.
"I don't know. We did come across a child who is lost and he wants to go home. Maybe we'll see what he's capable of before we do something with him." Said Vanilla.
While in the middle of eating, an anthropomorphic cat man pants as he rushes towards the Rabbit Gang, making them confused.
"Is that Sung?" One rabbit asked.
"The hell does he want?" The other one groaned.
"Sung?" Vanilla turns around.
"V- Vanilla-fūrén! Vanilla-fūrén! I'm sorry! I can't do-"
BANG!
A loud bang has Sonic blocking the Rabbit Gang as Vanilla covers Tekno to protect her, after Sung the Cat collapses with a bullet to the back of his head.
A bang also has everyone at the restaurant running away through the entrance as they run past the one that fires a gun at a cat.
"Tekno, hide under the table." Vanilla stood up as she recognised the face.
"Damn. Out of bullets. Hmph. You're lucky you're spared from that one, Vanilla."
"Hello to you too, Lien-Da." Vanilla sighs with an unimpressed look.
"Huh!? That's…" Sonic is witnessing another surviving echidna that is red furred.
"What the… Why does he look like Aleena?" Lien-Da asks as she approaches the Rabbit Gang and glares at Sonic.
"Aleena?" Vanilla halts while turning towards Sonic with surprise.
"You know my mom?" Sonic is also surprised that an echidna from the past knows his ancient mother.
"I knew it. Just like Locke, Aleena used Chaos Control to enter the future. Vanilla, you didn't know about his mother?" Lien-Da asked.
"Not really. I remember hearing Sonic saying he's from the future and was asking us criminals to stop Dr. Eggman." Vanilla explained.
"Dr. Eggman? What kind of cringy name is that? No matter, since you're here, Boss Vanilla, my brothers and sisters are preparing for a good fight with you." Lien-Da clicks her fingers, revealing a bunch of hooded echidnas with pipes, chains, bats, knives and brass knuckles, making her chuckle.
Sonic and the Rabbit Gang are prepared as the gang are raising their weapons whereas Sonic and Vanilla raise their fists.
"For those who don't know, these are my family, the Flame Legion. We're overthrowing you this time, rabbit." Lien-Da reveals herself with black fire tattoos from her hands to her abdomen, making Sonic question how fur painting works.
"Over my dead body. We are the Rabbit Gang and we own many places, including you." Vanilla calmly throws her hoodie as well as her gang as they're all shown to be intimidating, even Vanilla has a rabbit mark on her back under her top as Sonic is flabbergasted.
"How do tattoos work on fur?" Sonic asks himself.
"You own us? Well then, Miss, hand over the hedgehog and th-"
An immediate crash through the building has the Flame Legion echidnas exclaiming as they witness Vanilla raising her fist which struck Lien-Da's face.
"L- Lady Lien-Da!"
"Ow… Don't just stand there! Get them and grab that hedgehog!" Lien-Da shouts as she orders while picking herself up from the other building.
As the echidnas yell, Sonic takes a headstart by spin dashing through as they're tossed around like bowling pins, giving the Rabbit Gang the advantage to fight as both rabbits with bats swing at an echidna and a chain yanks both Flame Legion members' neck and slam them onto each other.
It's a brawl inside a restaurant and Sonic and Vanilla are diving onto Lien-Da, causing her to cough.
"Damn you…"
"Like I said, echidna. Mama owns you, now be a good little mouse and sit quietly." Vanilla whispers with a cold glare.
Before Sonic comes in to help the gang members, he stops as he sees a shadowy figure under the blue sky as he follows the said figure.
"Sonic? Where are you going?" Vanilla starts to follow Sonic through the city, thinking it had something to do with his future.
While the rabbits and echidnas are brawling, Lien-Da slowly picks herself up, confused that Vanilla is running away with Sonic.
"Not on my watch."
Near the sea, the Egg Mobile with arms and drills are being worked on as Eggman grunts.
"Stupid… Why can't I be in Station Square already!?" Eggman snapped as he slammed his fists on the desk.
What stops him is a familiar canary girl, but instead of being a 14 year old teenager, she's a 7 year old child, making Eggman think.
"Wait a minute… That means I can change timelines and succeed in my plans. Perfect! Hey, young lady!" Eggman calls with a cheery tone.
"Hm? What is it, mister human?" Tekno is approaching the Egg Mobile with curiosity.
"Do you like science?"
"Yeah! I love it! I even created a robot puppy!" Tekno cheers while hopping.
"That's great! How would you like to join Eggman's Greatest Genius Membership of Absolute… Nerdy stuff? That's right! With the initials combined, I would like you to join Team Eggman!" Eggman introduces Tekno to his membership as a way to bring Tekno in earlier.
"Eggman? Like Dr. Eggman? Aren't you the villain that Sonic the Hedgehog defeated?" Tekno asked, much to Eggman's displeasure.
"I forgot, even the children know about this stupid fairytale. Never mind that! You're coming with me to become my new assistant!" Eggman activates Egg Drillster Mk.II as it turns into Big Arms and clenches its fist on Tekno.
Tekno shrieks while being grabbed by Eggman.
"You're going to be my inventor until Sonic is gone for good." Eggman growls.
"M- MAMA!" Tekno screams as she's panicking out of fear of being Eggman's prisoner.
"Geez! Can't you be quiet!?" Eggman shouts until…
A blue ball zips through, smashing Big Arms' arm, causing Eggman to frown out of disappointment.
"Again. Why does he heroically show up at a convenient time?" Eggman moans.
As for Sonic, he slides while putting Tekno down for her safety.
"You!" Eggman fires the missiles towards Sonic, only for Vanilla to appear, punching different missiles as they explode behind her, Sonic and Tekno.
"I never thought being a hero is such a tiring job. You cost me my work of crime, Dr. Robotnik." Vanilla turns towards Eggman, glaring at him.
Eggman is flabbergasted that Sonic has brought in a dangerous criminal of them all, the one who leads a gang of violent people.
"Vanilla the Rabbit? The leader of the infamous Rabbit Gang? How?"
"So this is what he meant. You dare ruin our future? It looks like someone's in need of punishment." Vanilla walks towards Eggman while cracking her knuckles.
"I'm not afraid of you, hairball! I've been a wrestling champion 28 years ago! So it's you who should be punished!" Eggman swings his fist towards a 3 to 4 feet anthropomorphic rabbit, causing Vanilla to get pushed after receiving a bruise under her white muzzle.
"Mom!" Tekno exclaimed.
"Vanilla, are you okay?" Sonic asks with worry.
To their shock, Vanilla chuckles as she holds her face.
"That hurt. But I'll hurt you more." Vanilla's glare has caught Eggman off guard, only for her to leap and grab a 6 feet tall Eggman and slam him onto the Egg Mobile as she wrings her fingers into Eggman's throat.
"Gh! So I was right… You are… Her…" Eggman grunts, knowing how ruthless the leader is, only for Sonic to defend Tekno.
"That's right. If I don't own you, then you must die." Vanilla concludes, only for an empty magazine to smack her head.
"So that's where you are, Vanilla. And the fat human has shown himself up. What's your name?"
"You… I'm the most scientific genius of them all… Dr. Eggman…" Eggman answers weakly.
"So that's who you are. Vanilla, release him. It's between you and I!" Lien-Da immediately swings her fist.
This had Vanilla letting Eggman go and quickly grab Lien-Da's fist.
"Don't hurt mother, or mother hurts you." Vanilla brings out a statement as she squeezes Lien-Da's fist and twists her arm, causing Lien-Da to scream out of agonising pain.
Sonic is covering Tekno, realising that Johnny was right about Vanilla.
As Lien-Da crouches down and holds her arm, her piercing glare screams a threat towards Vanilla, making Eggman pity the echidna.
Now what'll Sonic do if the things he's seeing are in the past, but were true in his eyes?
"I'll kill you!" Lien-Da growled.
"Good. As you should. Don't mess with my family." Vanilla concluded.
