Chapter Four: Jimmy's Teddy Bear

The Ed's made their journey to Jimmy's house with determined vigor. Eddy was leading the trio while Double D was more confident than he was before, and Ed still wore his trademark grin. As Double D walked, he used his PKE meter, which detected ghostly energy and frowned. "Yes," he said aloud. "This is in fact a class 5 poltergeist. The real question is, how can we stop this being?" he asked himself. Eddy heard him, however.

"Simple sock head. We bust down the door, find the stupid thing and blast it like nobody's business." Eddy seemed confident. However, Double D still had to be cautious. "What are you thinking Double D?" Eddy inquired.

"First," Double D began, "if we bust down the door, then we alert the ghost. Second, this teddy bear has a knife, so we must exercise caution. It could pop out from any area in the house and leave a nasty gash at best."

"Quit worrying Double D!" Eddy sighed with a frown. "This should be a cinch. Besides, we have Proton Packs! Also, first aid on hand." Ed still wore his grin as he walked up to the door. He thought for a moment and held a finger to his mouth to say "Hush."

However, the very next moment, Ed kicked the door, creating a loud SLAM sound and walked right in. Double D sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Well, there goes the element of surprise," he muttered. As the Ed's walked through the house with caution, they could hear a sound. It was whimpering. "Ok gentlemen. I will proceed and get Jimmy out of the house. You two stay down here in case things go south."

"Roger that!" Eddy saluted with a chuckle.

Ed smiled. "NORTH TO ALASKA!" he yelled and ran toward the kitchen.

"ED!" Eddy shouted, "We're not here to eat, we're here to bust a ghost. Geez Louise." As Eddy ran after his friend, Double D used his PKE meter and looked around the living room before climbing the stairs. He began to pant heavily.

"Why did I make these so heavy!" he gasped as he reached the hallway upstairs. He pointed the PKE in one direction and the readings went quiet. He then pointed toward Jimmy's bedroom. Still nothing. He snuck up to the door and knocked on it quietly.

"Double D?" Jimmy whispered hopefully. "Is that you?"

"Yes Jimmy. Open the door and I will get you out!" he whispered in response. The door opened quietly, and Jimmy walked out. He had red, puffy eyes from the tears and his face was practically drenched in sweat. "Alright," Double D began, "Now we can-"

He was cut off by Jimmy screaming. "BEHIND YOU DOUBLE D!" he cried. Double D turned around and shot a proton blast hitting the teddy bear. The bear seemed to gasp in pain before growling. The bear ran downstairs and toward the kitchen. "ED! EDDY! THE BEAR IS MAKING HIS WAY TOWARD THE KITCHEN! BE READY!" He cautioned at the top of his lungs. He then turned to Jimmy. "I promise you we will get you a new teddy bear," Double D said.

Jimmy shook his head and pulled his stuffed rabbit to his face. "I am fine with Mr. Yum, Yum," he answered in fear. Double D nodded and guided Jimmy to the front door. In that moment he heard a proton blast in the kitchen. "Get to safety Jimmy!" Double D said hurriedly. "I will handle this ghost." Jimmy nodded and ran out the door.

Sarah and the other kids were watching. "Are you ok Jimmy!?" Sarah gasped.

"Yes Sarah," Jimmy replied. "The Ed's are handling this." Sarah facepalmed.

"Well, there goes the neighborhood," she mocked.

ZZZ

The Ed's were blasting the teddy bear with all three of their proton streams. "Careful not to cross the streams!" Double D reminded as the bear started to be pulled down toward the ground. "Throw the trap Eddy!" Double D shouted.

"Roger that!" Eddy yelled back. He threw the trap directly under the bear, pressed the button with his foot, and turned away while the other Ed's did the same. The bear growled as it was pulled into the trap. "We did it!" Eddy cheered. "Now let's get outside."

Kevin frowned at them. "So? Where is this 'ghost?'" he mocked with air quotes.

"It's right here," Eddy said pointing to the smoking trap. "It was a tough one, but we got it."

The other kids, even Sarah, oohed and awed at the sight of the trap. "You actually caught one?" Sarah asked shocked.

"Yes," Double D replied. "It was a class five poltergeist, and it was close to harming dear Jimmy. But he's safe now." As the kids were cheering for the Ed's, Rolf seemed troubled.

"What's wrong Rolf?" Kevin asked worriedly.

"Rolf suspects that the end times are among us. There is more to these spirits than meets the eye," he explained. Kevin turned to the Ed's pondering Rolf's words.

"Are you going to tell them?" Kevin asked.

"Soon Kevin," Rolf replied. "Let them enjoy their victory. They will need it when the time arrives." Kevin nodded and for the first time ever...he was worried, not just about the Cul-de-sac as well as Peach Creek...but for the Ed's as well.
