Rapunzel's Light? ~Flower Gleam & Glow~

'Where could she be?' Momo thought to herself as she searched from the sky for any sign of Rapunzel or Flynn. The world had taken on a shade of yellow-orange as the Sun had started to set. It was going to be more difficult to search for them in the darkness of night if she didn't find them soon-

*CRASH!*

Momo's thoughts was interrupted by the very loud sound of something massive further ahead of her. Concerned, the devilukian started making her way to the source of the noise.

*THUD!*

And that second large noise made her increase her flight speed dramatically! Her Heart raced as she arrived at the scene of a massive Gorge that had been flooded. Momo followed the water flow from above, noticing some residue wooden debris flowing along. Things were starting to make sense, the sounds she heard must've been a large water resevoiur or dam being destroyed. But what exactly happened here?

Momo landed onto the grass by the large river "Rapunzel?" she called out, hoping to find any sign of the girl. "Rapunzel?!" The devilukean shouted her name once again, but she was only greeted by the sound of flowing water.

*Snap!-Crackle!-POP!*

Momo picked up on the sudden new sounds and looked further up the stream to find a water spout had erupted from a filled-in cliffside...along with an arm?!

*BOOSH!*

The cliffside burst and the water rushed into the river; dragging Flynn and Rapunzel along with it?!

"Eh?!" Momo hurried to the riverbank where the two re-emerged; taking in air and relieved to get out of whatever wet situation they were in.

"We...we made it." Rapuzel spoke between breaths. "We're alive."

"Rapunzel!" Momo ran up to the drenched blonde "Thank goodness!" the devilukian pulled her body away, but kept her hands on Rapunzel's; who was very confused but nevertheless glad to see Momo "What in the world happened?"

"Its a long story..." She spoke with a relieved breathlessness "See, we went to this place that was filled with Thugs and Ruffians. At first I thought it was scary but they were not as bad as mother claimed they'd be..."

"Holy-I was not expecting that..." Meanwhile, Flynn was muttering quickly in absolute bewilderment next to Pascall "I thought just Sora and his friends were that level of odd but..." he took a panicked sigh "You're telling me her hair actually glows...?"

Pascall confidently nodded as Rapunzel; who had walked a few paces away with Momo to wring out the water from her long hair, continued.

"And then there was this white horse that stood out from all the rest of the guards and then we-"

"WHY DOES HER HAIR GLOW?!"

Rapunzel gasped "Eugene!"

"What?!" Flynn responded loudly, still freaked out.

"Its supposed to be a secret!" The girl looked panicked, making an aside glance to Momo; who looked perplexed. Rapunzel's hair glows...?

"That's great! So is 'Eugene'-augh!" Flynn pulled himself out of the river, but winced in pain, clutching his left hand. Momo and Rapunzel both rushed over, inspecting his hand to find a rather nasty bloody gash on his left palm.

"Hmm, that wound looks pretty bad. But don't worry!" Momo took out her D-Dial; remembering the First-Aid Kit she had stored inside "I have just the thing to patch this up."

"Actually Momo; if you don't mind, I can take care of it." Rapunzel; still feeling responsible for the deadly situation she and Flynn were in earlier, volunteered. "Besides, now that you know, I think I should explain something about my glowing hair..."

Both Flynn and Momo looked at Rapunzel with curiosity as she went on...

"See, the thing about my hair is...it doesn't just glow."

Kingdom of Corona - ?

Meanwhile; in a separate part of the forest, there was a passageway hidden within a large spooky looking hollow tree. This passage was covered by a door decorated with a simplistic drawing of a yellow duck, the symbol of a secret bar named the Snugly Duckling-

The door to this passage abruptly and roughly slammed open and out from it emerged two identical, gasping, and not to mention drenched thugs. Both of these men were top heavy brown haired individuals wearing dark clothes, but they had distinctions that made themselves different. One had a brown rugged beard, while the other was clean-shaven and wearing an eyepatch.

"I'll kill him! I'll kill that Rider!" one of these two thugs threatened with aggression.

The other thug came up to him with the plan of action "We'll cut him off at the Kingdom. Then get back the Tiara, c'mon."

After a few more moments of rest from their narrow escape of a wet demise, the two started making their way until-

"Oh boys!" A feminine voice called out to these two, making them halt in place. They slowly turned to find a Red-Dressed Older Woman; Mother Gothel, standing on top of a large rock with a smile.

"Perhaps you want to stop acting like wild dogs chasing their tails and think for a moment." she revealed a brown satchel that was all too familiar to the two thugs; the one Rider tricked them out of. In an instant, the two threateningly brandished their swords...

"Oh please, there's no need for that." she nonchalantly spoke while simply tossing the satchel to the pair. They were quick to inspect and pull out the contents to find that...yes indeed, the Jeweled Tiara was still within.

"Well, if that's all you desire then be on your way. I was going to offer you something worth one thousand of those Tiara's; which would've made you rich beyond belief, and that wasn't even the best part-haha-" Gothel let out a quick chuckle at the end of her obvious bait "Oh well, C'est La Vie. Enjoy your Tiara!~" She bid a teasing farewell, knowing these thugs will nip at it.

"What's the best part?" She heard one of the thugs ask. Ahhh...Hook, Line, and sinker...

She turn herself back and raised a wanted poster "It comes with revenge on Flynn Rider~"

The two thugs smirked at each other. How could The Stabbington Brothers pass up such an opportunity?

(Later That Night)

Kingdom of Corona - Campsite

Momo watched from Rapunzel's left in interested silence as she continuously cocooned Flynn's injured hand in her long blonde hair. By this point night had fallen upon the world, and the three had found a large tree with equally large roots. So they decided to settle down upon them, the area around being illuminated by a small crackling campfire.

"...So you've been oddly cryptic as you wrap your magic hair around my injured hand." Flynn; who sat to Rapunzel's right, couldn't help but quip at the scenario that had been playing, wincing in pain as Rapunzel tightened her hair-wrap.

"Sorry" the girl apologized with a wince of her own before sighing "Just...don't freak out." she turned to Momo "Either of you."

But Momo simply shook her head "Please don't worry. I'm used to the strange and fantastical." she turned to Flynn "And so is Flynn Rider, correct?"

"Hey we almost drowned! Excuse me if I was a little frazzled, okay?" Flynn tried to defend himself before returning his focus to his injured hand. Rapunzel gazed at her hair that was wrapped around Flynn's hand with silent conflict...before closing her eyes...

Kingdom of Corona - (The Past)

"Why can't I go outside?" A young girl with long blonde hair asked her mother this question as she carefully brushed her hair.

"The outside world is a dangerous place, filled with horrible and selfish people. You must stay here where its safe." her Mother told her while continuing to brush, never wanting to lose her "Do you understand, flower?"

"Yes, Mommy."

"Very good dear." The Mother; Gothel, gave a smile "Now...sing for Mother."

Kingdom of Corona - Campsite

"Flower gleam and glow...

Let your power shine~"

"Make the clock reverse...

Bring back what once was mine~"

As Rapunzel sung, her hair started to glow with a bright golden light, flowing from her roots to the rest of her long hair, including what was wrapped around Flynn's hand. The Rogue's eyes briefly panned over to Pascall, who was sitting near Rapunzel foot with a aura of smug confidence.

"Heal what has been hurt...

Change the fates design~"

"Save what has been lost...

Meanwhile Momo stared in awe, her eyes reflecting the warm glow of Rapunzel's magic hair. Completely captured by the scene and her singing.

Bring back what once was mine~"

"What once was mineeee~"

And as Rapunzel finished her song, her golden hair lost its mystical glow and she looked to Flynn with pleading eyes as he unwrapped the hair-bind around his hand. The wound had healed and disappeared, like it never happened at all.

"That's amazing!" Momo spoke up, quickly standing up "Simply amazing! Right, Flynn?" she stressed on the word 'right'.

"Y-y-yeah." He quickly shook his head out of stupor "Incredible."

"Rapunzel." The pinkette approached her with an excited smile "How long have you been able to do that, if I may ask?"

"Forever, I guess?" Rapunzel replied, pleased that they were not freaking out "Mother says when I was a baby people tried to cut it. They wanted to take its power for themselves. But once its cut..." Rapunzel reached behind her neck and pushed some of her long hair away, revealing a single lock of brown hair that had been cut "it turns brown, and looses its power."

Momo brought a hand to her chest "I...see..." It was then that she remembered Marluxia's words; about how Rapunzel was the 'Very light of this World.'.

She started to gently pull at her hair as if she were giving it a brush "A gift like that; it has to be protected at all costs. That's why Mother never let me..." Rapunzel trailed off as she stopped brushing her hair and somberly sighed "That's why...I never left the..."

"...You never left that tower." Flynn finished for her with a tender expression "And you're still gonna go back?"

"No!" She quickly said with seeming resolve; hands balled into fists but "...Yes?" Rapunzel sighed as she buried her head in her hands, still feeling very conflicted "Its complicated."

Pascall quietly nuzzled up to the in-distress Rapunzel. A silence permeated the area until Momo quickly nodded and stood up.

"Forgive me, but I have a secret I would like to share too."

"I'm sure you have several secrets." Flynn quipped while Rapunzel looked up from her hands. Momo's Anti Gravity wings suddenly expanded out, making the two of them jolt in surprise, and Pascal hide behind his owner's heel.

"Please! Let me explain." The pinkette verbally calmed them and put out a hand underneath a wing "These wings are actually made by my eldest sister." she flew up several feet to demonstrate that- "I can use these to fly through the sky." and she came back down to ground level "Its how I was able to find you two after going ahead of Sora, Donald, and Goofy."

"Wow." Rapunzel relaxed as she replied in amazement "So your oldest sister is an...inventor some kind?" The pinkette smiled and nodded as she sat down next to Rapunzel once again, making sure not to sit on any of her long hair. "Then you must come from a place with all sorts of gadgets."

Momo shifted her eyes somewhat "You can say that, sure." Before an apologetic look crossed her and she bowed her head "I'm sorry Rapunzel, but saying where I come from is one of the things I'm definitely not supposed to say to anyone. Not even Flynn Rider knows."

"Its true. I just kinda ran into those four a few days ago, and we've been traveling ever since." he made up something on the spot. "Speaking of Sora, Donald, and Goofy; any idea on what's keeping those three?" Flynn asked.

"Oh they'll be just fine on their own." Momo chipperly reassured "Not like they'll be hopelessly lost at all."

Kingdom of Corona - Misleading Marsh

"We are HOPELESSLY lost, Sora!" loudly complained Donald, having seen that same tree branch that looks suspiciously like King Mickey's head for what feels like the third time.

"C'mon Donald. We're not hopelessly lost!" Sora tried to keep the spirits up in this dank and dark Marsh.

"Fellas if we're lost, I think we've just been found!" Goofy alerted the other two, making them turn to him and the two Reaper Nobodies looking for a fight "Although, I'm sure we can do just fine without their company."

Kingdom of Corona - Campsite

"And even if they did get lost, I'm sure they're strong enough to handle themselves." Momo concluded with confidence.

"Ah, Well that's good. Wouldn't want anything to happen to my sidekicks." Flynn chuckled but he then noticed the expecting look directed to him by both Momo and Rapunzel, responding with a confused "...What?"

"...Eugene Fitzherbert huh?" simply stated Rapunzel

"Ah!...That! Well..." Flynn got the message; he had been dragged into their secret sharing time "I'll spare you two the sob story of the poor orphan Eugene Fitzherbert. It's a little bit of a...downer of sorts." he tried to downplay it, but he got the feeling he wasn't getting off that easily.

Rapunzel response was to scoot closer and rest her head on her palms, giving Flynn her full attention. Looks like his feeling was correct.

"There was this book; a book I used to read to the younger kids at the orphanage every night. The Tales of Flynnigan Rider!" He spoke with an air of enthusiasm "Swashbuckling rogue, richest man alive, not bad with the ladies either. Nothing to ever brag about, of course."

'No, certainly not.' The devilukean couldn't help but mentally deadpan with an aside glance.

"Anyway, he had enough money to do anything he wanted to do; and he could go anywhere he wanted to go!" Flynn opened his arms; motioning to the World "And...and..." Flynn trailed off, arms falling limp down to the branch he was sitting on "...for a kid with...nothing it...it uh..." he struggled to continue "It...seemed like the better option."

Momo couldn't help but frown at the insight into his history and how he trailed off. Orphaned, Not much to his name, and yet as a child he still entertained everyone else with his tall tales? Maybe...Momo worried over nothing?

"You two can't tell anyone about this. It could ruin my whole reputation."

"Ah. We wouldn't want that." Rapunzel tone was sarcastic and playful

"Oh that's the thing about reputations; it's all a man has sometimes."

A moment of soft laughter was shared between Rapunzel and Flynn before they both went silent, gazing into each others eyes-

"Oh! Would you look at that! The fire is starting to dim!" Momo suddenly and chipperly announced "Flynn Rider, would you come along and help me find some firewood?"

"Oh! Um, sure?" Flynn stood up from the large tree trunk and joined an already-walking into the forest Momo "We'll be right back, Rapunzel."

"Hey..." Flynn stopped and turned to Rapunzel "For the record, I like Eugene Fitzherbert much better than Flynn Rider."

"...Well then you'd be the first. Thank you."

Neither of them could see it, but Momo was now beaming with a glee and glint in her eyes. Rapunzel watched with a smile of her own as the two left, taking an inhale in comfort of-

"Well! I thought they'd never leave!"

Her eyes went wide at the sudden voice behind her; a familiar voice she'd known all her life.

"Mother?"

Kingdom of Corona - (Forest)

Flynn examined his healed palm with great intrigue as he followed Momo through the forest, a thought running through his head...

"Hey do you think her magic hair will give me super strength?" Flynn looked up from his palm and stopped upon seeing Momo now turned, staring at him with a neutral expression "...What?"

She then used her left hand to pull up a wanted poster...HIS wanted poster.

"Wait, hold on a sec..." He gently moved Momo's finger that was covering his nose on the wanted poster...revealing it was even more big and bulbous than the last poster he saw.

"Now that's just cruel."

Momo turned the front of the wanted poster in her direction "I was going to give you a thorough questioning..." she stared at it in contemplation, using a free finger to fiddle with her hair "But after all I've just heard of you; despite whatever reasons you must have for wanting to take her to the kingdom...I don't think you're that much of a bad person at all."

"Oh! Well, uh...thank you?" Flynn wasn't really sure how to interact with this girl, but at least he didn't seem to be on her bad side. Not anymore apparently...

"Although I still can't help but ask." Momo looked up from the poster, eyes portraying not suspicion but a genuine curiosity "What reason do you have to help her go to this Kingdom in the first place?"

"Well..." Flynn cupped his chin "There was something of interest that I wanted when I made the deal...at first!" he quickly put his palms out and added the 'At first' upon seeing her eyes narrow "But now...I can't say it hasn't been a joy being with her on this trip, throughout all the ups and downs." Flynn looked at his palm, the one that Rapunzel's hair healed. "Its also thanks to her exposing the secret of her magic hair that we both got out of that wet and deadly scenario alive. So the least I can do for her moving forward is hold my end of our deal."

Momo gave a small smile "An honest answer. I'm starting to see why so many good flags have been raised from her trust in you, even after Rapunzel should know of your criminal history by now. She was probably just trying her best to hide it from me for your sake, that in itself being another good flag."

Flynn blinked "Raised flags?" what on earth was she talking about?

"Yes! Flynn Rider!" Momo got close while bringing up an index finger. "Rapunzel decided to be honest and truthful with a most precious secret about her. I know you were first to expose your true name as Eugene in that perilous moment, but for someone as sheltered as she is; choosing to expose such a secret from the heart in return means the world. You two have something great blooming, believe me on that..." She took a few steps back, finger curled under her lip as her tone of voice lowered "So it would be very unfortunate if you were to break her heart by betraying that faith. But as you finished telling me, you wouldn't do that now, would you?"

Flynn felt a chill down his spine as he responded "Hey-Hey! Don't worry, that won't come to pass. I swear on my Thieves Honor."

The devilukean closed her eyes and smiled, bringing her hands up together with a clap "Very good, Rider." She slightly turned her body "Now let's collect that firewood. We don't want to keep Rapunzel waiting"

"Right! The firewood!" Flynn stepped forward and lead the search.

'A Thieves Honor huh?' Momo smiled as she kept her eyes on Flynn. She didn't need to question the oxymoron of that statement. Cause when it came to Rapunzel, she could trust him on it.

"No but seriously, do you think I'll get superpowers from her magic hair?"

Wow, a chapter that didn't take a full year to publish. Go me! *Sweatdrop Smile*

Anyways, not much action in this chapter. More relaxing, storytelling, character bonding, and setup. (Which I guess is why this was much easier for me to write! Hahahaha...I'm still not good with action).

Author's Notes:

1. I've reintroduced the Stabbington Brothers back into the story of KH3 Tangled cause without them; a lot of things kinda still...happen without rhyme or reason in KH3. Despite those things being unable to happen WITHOUT them. This also bleeds into why I didn't have Marluxia meet and do...something(?) to Mother Gothel, it was never quite clear cut enough.

2. Same could be said about the Snugly Duckling bar scene, but to a lesser extent. Hence why I felt comfortable enough to show that the scene still happens, just off-screen from the story since the overarching story is more focused on our main characters from both To Love-Ru and Kingdom Hearts.

3. I hope I didn't make Momo seem TOO difficult with Flynn. She's rooting for both of them in the end, but she also wants to look out for her new friend Rapunzel ^_^)
