Chapter 3.5 Goro's fight pit

Hideo Sasaki

"Hey boss, where'd the kid go?" Yoshin asked as he dried his hair fresh out the shower.

"Just left' I say without taking my eyes off the screen.

"He told you about Goro's?" Yoshin asked as he fell into the couch.

"Yeah, he told me he wo 1" I said with a little annoyance in my voice since he wants to ruin my show.

"That's it?" Yoshin asked as I raised an eyebrow. "Sasha was there".

"Ha! No fucking way" I said as i sat up. Now he has my attention.

"Yup, it wasn't even Goro's idea for him to go 3v1, it was hers" Yoshin said as he reached for the bowl of chips on the coffee table. "whats up with her anyway? She have beef with the kid or something?"

"Nah she's still mad about the first time he was in the pit" I say rolling my eyes.

"What? She lost money betting on someone else?" Yoshin asked with a confused look on his face.

The first time they met was after a meeting we had with Goro to discuss business moving forward after finalizing our deal. Akio was there with me by his side like I always am incase anything goes sideways. Fuu was only my protégé for a couple years at this point so I had already taken him to plenty of meetings with shady characters before but this time was different. Goro was a big player in the city and was... colorful to say the least.

"Ahh Darling welcome to my humble abode! Please make yourselves at home and enjoy the festivities!" Goro said as he waddled from behind his desk. Standing at a whopping 5 ft 4 and weighing just as much as Akio. He was wearing a bright pink Versace bath robe that was all tattered on the bottom from dragging across the floor, no shirt with his stomach hanging out, and grey sweatpants tucked into some Ugg boots.

Goro's "humble abode" consisted of an old worn-down shoe factory deep in the heart of the Ryzo district that used to produce knock off sneakers. Rusted hand rails and holes in the sheet rock were used as decor. The smell of damp sneakers filled the air in the upper office that over looked the now empty production floor that was roped off for the fighting pit no bigger than 15 ft to prevent either fighter from running away from his opponent. Broken fold out chairs and crushed beer cans all over the floor. This place looked straight out of a mad max movie.

With a look of disgust on his face Akio said "let's just get down to business Goro, we don't have time for your games today". Clearly not one to hide his emotions. He didn't even want to strike a deal with Goro. Aside from his obvious annoying personality, Akio found him to be too visible to law enforcement, therefore he was a liability more than anything. But he was effective.

I hate the drug game. It's beneath us. But unfortunately, it's a big source of revenue for us to fund our other trades. Our organization started off as any other street gang back in the 40's and slowly transitioned to what it is today. Built on respect and power. No one is entitled to their position, it's earned. Akio and I weren't voted in, we weren't nominated for the positions we hold. We didn't like the way the previous leader and general were handling things so we challenged them. Plain and simple. We've been in command now for almost 13 years and haven't been challenged once. Every single captain and lieutenant have fallen in line. Although I've gotten somewhat comfortable in my position, I certainly missed days like today where there was a heightened sense of danger to acknowledge. Even though it's supposed to be a simple business meeting about our future endeavors that we have already agreed to, you still never know with people like Goro, which is why I brought along Fuu so he can see firsthand the world we live in and what is to be expected of him.

"All business and no pleasure as always Akio? You're no fun. How about you Hideo?" Goro said with a disgusting grin plastered on his face from ear-to-ear revealing a crooked gold front tooth. "You were once a fan favorite here. Care to put on a show for these miscreants?"

"Oh c'mon Goro, don't you see this Tom Ford suit? I'm way too good looking to get in there tonight. Maybe after we sign this deal we can talk about my much-anticipated return to this fine establishment." I say with a wink and a smile making Goro let out an annoying chuckle.

"Ugh fine" Goro said with a big pout. "But oooh. What do we have here?" he said as he approached Fuutarou who was standing behind me. His eyes shooting wide open looking at me for a sign on what to do. "And who might you be young man?"

I nodded over to Fuu for him to answer the question.

"M-my name is Fuutarou Uesugi sir..." Fuu said as he straightened up.

"My my. What a strong young man we have here" Goro said as he got within inches of Fuu's face. "And how old are you my little kitty cat?" he said as he brought his hand up to his cheek "my what beautiful eyes you ha.." he began to say before I snatched his wrist and got in between them.

"Leave. The kid. Alone." I say sternly. No more smiles, no more playing along with his stupid games. My protege is to be treated with the same respect as me to outsiders. You disrespect him you might as well disrespect me. And I don't tolerate disrespect.

Almost immediately all of his men that were in the room draw their weapons and point them at me causing all our men to also draw their weapons. The tension in the air was enough to choke someone, but this was just another Tuesday for us.

"If your men got the balls to aim their guns at my general, they better not miss, because I don't" Akio said as he cocked his gun aiming right at Goro's temple.

"You sure you want to find out?" Goro replied with that disgusting smile still plastered on his face not taking his eyes off of me. "If I had to guess he's your bastard? No, he's much prettier than you. Is he a nephew? A personal blunt roller? C'mon darling tell me, the anticipation is absolutely killing me" he said. Once again his eyes locked onto mine.

"he's my protege" I say. His eyes give off a little twitch. A split-second reaction that would go unnoticed if I wasn't locked onto his eyes. He knows the line he crossed, now let's see him weasel his way out of this.

"Oh, let's stop this, you know the jokes I make Hideo. Come now, let's wrap up our affairs and enjoy the festivities!" he said as he pulled away and clapped his hands together. All his men put their guns away and Akio gave our men a nod to put theirs up as well not before looking over at me.

"Ok right this way then" he said with a snarky attitude as he turned around and strutted over to his desk which was just an old door on top of 2 old oil drums but his chair looked like a throne you'd see at birthday parties for teenage girls to take pictures on. He reached into an old cooler and pulled out a bottle of tequila worth more than some of my cars and 3 glasses.

"We're gonna need at least 4 deliveries a week Goro" Akio said ignoring the cup set before him.

"Oh? And here I thought we had already come to an agreement on 3. may I ask why the sudden change?" Goro said with a pout as he crossed his arms.

"Can you do it or not?" Akio says with a growl.

Goro took a sip of his drink. Then another, and another before refilling his cup.

"Can I do it? Absolutely. Do you know who I am? Of course I can, but will I is the question at hand here" Goro said with a little laugh. "Ok, ok before you pop a vein in that big strong head of yours, how about a little wager. You win, you get your 4 deliveries but pay for 3. I win, we stick to 3 deliveries but you pay for 4?"

Akio just stood there with an annoyed look on his face. Just as he was about to say no I butted in.

"Ok, ill bite. What do you have in mind Goro" I say with a fake smile. I figure we might as well amuse him since Akio is 5 seconds away from putting a hole in his skull and starting a war over something so trivial.

"That boy of yours knows how to fight?" He said with a crooked smile. I knew where he was going with this.

"He's coming around, what of It?" I reply

"Well, I think a great main event would be 'the protege of the great Hideo Sasaki vs...'" Goro said as he looked over to his guys. "Any volunteers?"

All of his guys started laughing about who should step up to beat up a 16-year-old kid. I don't know what they were so excited for I wasn't going to allow it any way. That is before Akio chimed in.

"I like that idea. Deal" Akio said looking over at Fuutarou who remained composed.

Fuutarou walked up and stood next to me waiting for his opponent to be selected. He didn't look at me for help, didn't flinch at the opportunity to prove himself. He knew this was a chance to impress Akio and put all the naysayers to rest at the same time. Aside from opposing Akio in front of everyone, I didn't want to take this away from Fuutarou. Part of becoming a man is making your own choices. Besides, I have faith in him.

Goro let us know that he had someone special in mind and brought us all down to the pit. On the way down I pulled Fuutarou to the side to talk to him.

"You ok with this kid?" I ask as i put my hand on his shoulder.

"Do I have a choice?" Fuu said dryly.

"Nope" i reply. I'm not going to lie to him. Akio already agreed to it, and it's not my place to question my leader in front of our men, but I'll definitely be asking him about this later

"Any advice?" Fuutarou asked after letting out a deep breath. He looked nervous but he didn't look scared. I used to be the same when I first started competing when I was a kid.

"Whoever it is, is gonna play dirty. Nothing is off limits. Keep your distance while you assess the situation and go for the finish quick. Don't make this a street fight, we're still in enemy territory. Just know that I won't let anything bad happen to you if it came down to it. Just go in there and show everyone what we've been working on. You got this kid" I say as I give him a gentle punch to the chest. "Remember, a mind in rage defeats an enemy, a clear mind..." I begin saying as he finishes my sentence.

"Defeats an army. Yes sir" he said as he bowed. Good man.

We make our way down stairs as I joined Akio by the ring and Fuutarou dunked under the ropes as he entered.

"Oh, do I have something special for my little miscreants here tonight!" Goro yelled out sounding like a sassy Bruce Buffer. "In the red corner we have the protege of a Kurai Yoru general, the great Hideo Sasaki!". The crowd absolutely erupted. They might not know the kid but they sure as fuck know me.

"And in the blue corner, we have the toughest! We have the meanest! The most diabolical! The one, the only, Sasha Goro!" Goro Screamed out as a teenage girl ducked under the ropes into the ring to the sound of the crowd going absolutely insane. SA-SHA, SA-SHA, SA-SHA. The crowd chanted as she smirked and started shadow boxing while looking straight at Fuu.

Sasha Goro? His niece? A young cousin? Who the fuck was this girl. Fuutarou looked over at me with the most confused look on his face and I had the same one on mine. I had no idea what he was doing putting a girl in there with Fuu. She looked pretty solid though for her age. Standing at about 5'7, 5'8. Very short blond hair pulled back into a tiny pony tail and a very pretty face with big blue eyes. Is this girl American?

I just know Fuu is feeling weird now about having to fight a girl. But hopefully he doesn't allow him to take her lightly. He gives one last look over at me and i motion for him to stay calm. The bell rings and she starts off by running at him full speed and catching him off guard with a flying knee square in the jaw causing him to fall into the ropes. Everybody on our side winced at the same time and everyone on hers cheered in unison. What a clean shot that woke Fuutarou up for sure.

"Shake it off!" one of the guys scream as Fuu cover's up as she starts unloading on him. "she's too close!" Another guy screams. I'm hoping it reminds him of the muay thai class we had a couple days ago. I think he got the hint because as she was unloading body shots on him, he put her in a thai clinch and threw up a heavy knee to the solar plexus completely airing her out causing her to stumble back. He circled the ring with his hands up. Why isn't he hitting her? She turned around and started throwing combinations at him. Fuutarou just bobbed and weaved the shots upstairs and ate the body shots he couldn't avoid.

Everyone on our side must have thought the same thing because they all let him know it. Guys started screaming out "what the fuck are you doing? Hit her!" "Stop being a pussy and hit the bitch!" "Finish her!". Akio stood there with his arms crossed. He may not have been saying anything but he was angry. Very angry.

This girl's gas tank was insane. All of her punches were thrown at full strength and she wasn't getting tired. But fuu was. Eventually some of her shots were getting through his guard. First it was a cheeky left hook, a couple jabs, a straight. He was eating all of them but you could tell some of them had a little extra sting at the end of them.

She got him against the ropes as he tied her up again so he could hopefully hit her with another knee but she knew that's what he wanted and threw an old dirty boxing trick and hit him with an uppercut up the middle causing fuu to fall on his ass as she got on top of him and started throwing down bombs like she was an Asian Amanda Nunes.

Fuu ate a couple shots before he trapped her arm and threw up a triangle choke out of nowhere as the crowd went crazy. She felt it right away because she began flailing around trying to get his legs off of her neck. Fuu had no emotion on his face, just waiting for the inevitable. Waiting for her to fall asleep. Just as she was about to go out, she bites his leg causing Fuu to scream out and deliver 2 heavy elbows to her face that opens her up and splatters blood all over his face causing her not only to stop biting him but to go out cold as well.

Fuutarou acknowledges that she went to sleep and lets her go. Her limp body hit the floor face first as she continues bleeding onto the floor. The guys start a half assed clap in celebration of his victory. Akio and I weren't clapping. This wasn't a victory; this was an embarrassment.

Fuu looks over at me and sees that Akio and I were upset and put his head down as Goro climbed into the ring and stepped on Sasha's face just as she was waking up causing her to yelp from his fat ass stepping on her.

"Well well, we have a winner ladies and gentleman!" Goro said as he held up Fuu's hand. "oh, why the long face? Don't you feel like a winner?" Goro said sarcastically as Fuutarou looked away.

"Dad I'm sorry..." Sasha said as she approached Goro covering the gash on her forehead.

Goro turned to her and backhand slapped her. "Don't speak to me" he said in his real voice. A deep monotone voice void of emotion. She took the hit and just stood there. "Well Akio, a deal's a deal. Let's go upstairs and drink to our new and prosperous relationship!" Goro said as he clapped his hands together and exited the ring leaving just Sasha and Fuu in there alone. Akio and Goro walked on ahead with everyone behind them until the room was empty.

I enter the ring and walk passed Fuutarou over to the young girl. "You ok?" I ask as she just looks at the floor. "You fought well. Where did you train?" once again no response. I reach into my wallet and pull out one of my business cards for the academy. "If you ever wanna train with me you know where to find me" I say as I take her hand and put the card in her hand. "let's go Fuutarou"

"Hideo I..." Futarou stuttered.

"I said let's go Uesugi"

A/N

Alright so this was supposed to be in the last chapter but I felt like it was too long to be included in Hideo's pov. I was just going to delete it but I couldn't let myself do it. I had so much fun writing this. I thought it showed a couple important things moving forward. 1 is the culture and lifestyle of the Kurai Yoru and that whole criminal world they're a part of. 2 was Fuutarou's morale compass when it came to fighting and not wanting to hit a woman. And 3 was the introduction of Goro and his daughter Sasha. I know it's just a quints fan fiction but I really want the quints to have unique and new interactions with different characters than the anime/manga, and in order to do that I have to create new characters to fill this new world I'm creating. One of my biggest challenges so far has been me feeling like I'm not writing enough about the quints enough. I just get carried away with all these new characters who interact with old ones and then I realize I'm at like 10k words in a chapter lol. I promise the quints will be getting more pov chapters. Thank you to everyone who's been messaging me and leaving me comments (especially , I-dont-know682, bobzilla, and Gazara). I honestly didn't think anyone would read this, let alone enjoy it. So thank you. I truly appreciate it.
