I liked the chapter, but I do agree the loss is a bit too easy. Though considering who she's up against I can't help but feel it would've been fairly easy to stick a few more roadblocks in her way to make it feel more expected. If this 6th Street Lt. is as experienced as he sounds then maybe...

What If? 1 - Traps

I heard gun fire and cursed as I rushed to the other apartment down the hall, it opened just as quickly.

Yet as soon my foot crossed the threshold, danger sense started blaring in my head. Then I heard a noise that would panic any Cyberpunk player when it was heard unexpectedly - the tell tale sound of a mine activating.

Cold blood slammed into me, my mind instantly becoming clear and at the same time I activated my Sandy, bursting towards the window and throwing myself out of it. Curling into a tight ball with my chrome arms facing towards the expected explosion to catch any shrapnel that came my way instead of my back and deactivated my Sandy.

The mine exploded, and a wave of force buffeted me as I flew out the window. Fortunately it did little more than make my landing awkward and throw bits of concrete at me that pinged off my arms. I was fine, only my pride injured from being outsmarted by a gonk, but I had no idea now where Yuto had gotten to.

*Motoko!*

*I'm fine Hiromi, where's Yuto?!*

*He just dived into a car up ahead and-*

*Hiromi!*

I called out, but she was already on it. The Quadra roared to life, and the passenger door opened as she spun the wheels to let me enter. I jumped in, and we were off.

What If? 2 - Back-up

I heard gun fire and cursed as I rushed to the other apartment down the hall, it opened just as quickly. I rushed to the open window and jumped out. A second floor drop was nothing, and as I fell I caught sight of him across the street.

Instantly I activated my Sandy, rifle coming to bare on the gonk's leg. At the same time I slammed both a Short Circuit and Reboot Optics through Yuto's cheap ICE.

Gonk had screwed over Jun, screwed over his choom. Now he had made me look like a gonk and nearly gotten away. He even slept in my old home! No way was I going to make this easy for him anymore - he was going back to Fujimura. Alive. Damn the consequences.

I landed easily, deactivating my Sandy as I looked over at my target.

He went down easily in the middle of the street, spasming from the repeated shocks. He looked torn between clutching at his eyes and clutching at his bleeding thigh. Giving out a little snort at how pathetic he looked, I began to march over to claim my prize when I heard a screech of tires.

Sliding over next to Yuto in a wild drift came a seemingly normal-looking Columbus van, appearing much like Ichi's but clearly moving twice as fast. The side door slammed open and hands reached for the prone gonk and I brought up my Copperhead to stop them.

Danger sense started screaming in my head as the rear doors of the van began to open. My nerves began to burn in agony as I activated my Sandy once again, diving for cover behind a nearby car as I got a brief glimpse inside the van.

Two black-clad mercs with SMGs began tearing the local area and my cover to shreds as their choom worked to pull Yuto inside.

Behind my cover, I deactivated my Sandy and began to return fire blindly, Copperhead resting on the shredded car as I shot in their general direction without poking my head out. Seconds later the firing stopped and I heard the tell tale sounds of a van side-door slamming shut and the souped-up van began tearing away with their prize.

*Motoko!*

*I'm fine Hiromi, gun it!*

I called out, but she was already on it. The Quadra roared to life, and the passenger door opened as she spun the wheels to let me enter. I jumped in, and we were off.
