~Everything's Not What It Seems~
Alex and Justin are siblings sent to Hogwarts to learn about magic just like their father. There they meet new friends, fall in love, and find out that truly everything is not what it seems.

"Ready?" Harry asked Fred, George, and Ginny as the friends huddled up under the stands before their quidditch match against Slytherin.
Ginny stood between Harry and the twins, her eyes lit up in excitement as she dawned a new uniform. It had only been a few weeks since she had outperformed in tryouts, becoming the newest member of the Gryffindor team. Her excitement for her first match was cry very apparent, and became contagious to the others. Justin stood back, a proud smile on his face as he watched his girlfriend. They had less than an hour until the match and had only arrived early to discuss their strategy. The four of them had arrived a bit early, and were waiting for their other teammates to join so they could begin.
"Do you know if Alex is coming?" Justin asked Fred and George as they waited.
To his surprise, George responded with a shrug and Fred responded with a nod. Usually it was George who was quick to respond on Alex's whereabouts. He wondered if they had gotten into a fight.
"I ran into her this morning in the Gryffindor common room, she said she'd be in the stands." Fred explained as he gave his brother a annoyed glance.
"Likely cheering for Malfoy." George said bitterly under his breath, though they all heard it. Justin wondered if Alex and George had gotten into an argument. George was never one to get angry, it was usually Alex.
"As I have tried mentioning before, on deaf ears." Fred emphasized to his brother. "Alex is not interested in Malfoy. She told me this herself."
"Of course she wouldn't admit she's interested in a Slytherin." George argued. Harry and Ginny glanced at each other awkwardly. It seemed this was not the first time they'd witnessed this conversation between the two.
"Perhaps we don't talk about Draco and Alex right now?" Harry suggested as he came up beside Justin. "We have a match against Slytherin in less than an hour and we should instead be focused on beating Malfoy and his cronies."
"Agreed." George said immediatly.
Fred shook his head at his brother. "You're the one that brought it up."
"That's enough." Ginny interjected, shooting the twins irritated looks. "Let's get back to it then."
~~~~~~~~~~
Alex looked out at the quidditch field, her eyes following the players as she tried to pay attention to the match for once in her life. Her lack of knowledge on quidditch and prior disinterest made it most challenging. If only she paid attention more when Cedric used to talked about it. Or took up the twins on their offer to explain the rules. George called it his special course of 'Quidditch for Dummies." In his words, it was special only for me. She wondered if he said that to all the girls...
"You know..." Adam started, interrupting Alex from the confusing thought that was entering her mind. "You never told me why you're watching the match with me... and not with your Gryffindor friends." He said, turning his face to look at Alex. He had his head slightly tilted with his fingers under his chin. He shot her one of his signature mischievous smiles.
She rolled her eyes, making sure to emphasize how she was immune to his charms. "Does there have to be a reason?"
"Yes." He replied, giving her a knowing look. "So out with it."
"Fine." She turned her body so she could fully face her friend, though Adam kept his eyes on the field. "Reason number one. George is mad at me for some reason unknown to me so I can't hang out with him and, by extension, Fred. And even if he wasn't mad at me, he and Fred are on the field playing quidditch. Reason number two. I'm mad at Harry and Justin so I don't want to be around either of them. It's easy to avoid Harry since he is also playing quidditch, but Justin does not play quidditch. Sitting with Ron and Hermione means sitting with Justin, so I don't want to sit with them. Reason number three. Max is sitting with Mikayla, Theo and the other Hufflepuffs. I don't want to sit anywhere near the Hufflepuff stands because I've been doing my best to stay away from the that crowd all year. All they do is stare at me with these weird, sad looks. I don't need sympathy." She put a hand to her chin, using her index finger to pretend she was thinking. "That should sum it up. Does that satisfy your curiosity?"
"Very much so." He nodded, glancing briefly at her in amusement. "You surround yourself with a lot of worry. I would just get rid of your problems."
"All my problems reside at Hogwarts so it's kinda hard to do that without leaving this place." She replied bitterly. If she didn't have to go to class with Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, the Gryffindor common rooms, or any quidditch match, Hogwarts would be a bit less hectic. Maybe she should have been in Slytherin...
"You could just transfer schools." He suggested.
Alex glared at Adam, which he missed as he continued to follow the match. "I'm not running away."
"Good. Wouldn't want to lose my only friend." He replied with a smirk, bumping his shoulder against hers. Alex bumped his shoulder back.
"You're weird." She said, unable to hide her smile. It was kind of nice having a friend like Adam. He didn't take much seriously, but he understood her when she needed it. "You know... I don't really know much about quidditch. You being an expert on it is kind of advantageous to me."
"How so?" He asked, his voice curious.
"I'd appreciate a few lessons. Maybe learning some of the rules too would help? Cedric always wanted me to learn... but we never got around to it. Not with that stupid competition. After he died, I promised myself get around to learning. He may not be here, but I'd want to do it... for him." She smiled to herself. He'd be so proud of her for trying to learn.
"Sure." Adam nodded as the student around them started to 'boo.' "Well... looks like I already got your first lesson." He frowned as he looked off onto the crowd. "Shit."
Alex had completely forgotten about the match. She followed his line of sight to the other side of the pitch, where Madam Hooch was making her way over. There was already a crowd of quidditch players floating about. It took her a moment to realize they were crowded around two players from each team, Draco and Fred. George was yelling at Draco.
"What happened?" She asked Adam.
"Draco almost knocked George off his broom. He started going after Draco. Bugger nearly avoided a bludger that got George in the head." Adam looked at Alex in concern. "Your friend looks pissed. He better calm down or Madam Hooch will have him out of the match."
Alex turned her attention back to the field. Despite her being very far away due to being seated in the Ravenclaw stands, she could see that George was red in the face. She wasn't sure if it was from the bludger he took to the head, or from the heated exchange he was having with Draco. She wished she could talk to George, calm her best friend down before he did something he'd regret. She also wished she could give Draco a piece of her mind. He knew better than anyone that things were, to say the least, complicated with George. Hurting her best friend wasn't winning him any brownie points in the new friend department.
"Oh no." Adam said, his voice sounding concerned. Alex could no longer see George due to Madam Hooch blocking her view of him. She was waving her hands dramatically between them. How did she manage to keep missing what was happening in the match?
"What happened now?" She asked.
"George's been kicked out of the match."
~~~~~~~~~~
"Well that definitely could have gone better." Harry said to the Gryffindor team as they walked under the stands. The rest of the team looked dejected as they settled into a circle. George was already seated on a bench, holding an ice pack to his head. Not only was the Gryffindor team losing, Draco had gotten into it with George midway through, causing him to get a bludger in the head. When he tried to get him back for it, Draco got him disqualified. They were doing terribly ever since then. Harry had no choice but to request a time-out to regroup.
"Sorry you got kicked out of the match, mate." Fred said, patting his brother on the shoulder sympathetically.
"If I get anywhere near that weasel Malfoy, I'll ring his neck." George said angrily, shrugging off his brother's hand.
"Not much help that'll be in the present moment." Ginny said, dejectedly. The others nodded in agreement.
"What's our game plan?" Katie asked, looking at Harry. "Our strategy involved Fred and George. We need a new plan."
"I know... I'm still figuring it out." Harry replied with a frown. The truth was, he wasn't sure what the plan was. Harry hadn't expected to lose his beater duo. Fred was good on his own, but brilliant alongside his twin. They were at a disadvantage with only one beater.
"Maybe-" Katie started to say but was cut off as a nearby door flew open. Alex charged into the room, Ron hot on her heal. "I tried to stop her." He said to them, defensively. The team all looked at Ron and Alex in confusion.
"I'm just here to see George." Alex said to Ron, rolling her eyes. Her eyes searched the room, ignoring the team until she spotted Fred and then George right next to him. His head shot up as soon as he heard Alex's voice. A flicker of anger coming over his face when he spotted her.
"Here to see your boyfriend's handy work?" George spat, standing up to address Alex.
"Really mature, George." Alex replied, rolling her eyes. "And Malfoy is not my boyfriend." She added to him, in annoyance. "I don't agree with how he acted out there with you. I plan to give him a piece of my mind first chance I get."
George rolled his eyes. "Sure you will. Well get on with it!" He waved his hands at Alex dismissively. "Reign in your little boyfriend."
"I'm not going to say this again. He is not my boyfriend!" She repeated, her voice sounding mildly angry. "He nearly knocked you off your broom and caused you to get a bludger on the head! Of course I'm going to tell him off for it!"
"He got me kicked out of the bloody match, Alex! Your boyfriend did that! After having a lot to say about my family. MY FAMILY!" He yelled back angrily as he took a step towards Alex. Fred put a hand on his brother's shoulder to hold him in place but George pushed it off. Harry automatically took a step forward so he was closer to Alex. He didn't think George would do anything, however he was concerned Alex would lose her temper and do something.
"I told you, Malfoy is not my boyfriend!" Alex yelled, as she stepped closer to him.
Harry stepped towards her and put a hand on her shoulder. "Alex, maybe you should go-" He started to say but shut up as soon as Alex turned her head and shot him a death glare. Taking that as a sign to bug off, he removed his hand from her shoulder and stepped back.
She turned her head back to George, her brows furrowed. "That will be the last time you call Malfoy my boyfriend."
"My apologies, did you and Malfoy break up? Are you with Good now? Wasn't sure if you'd moved on from Malfoy yet. Though I did notice you and Good getting cozy during the match." George said bitterly, crossing his arms over her chest.
"George-" Fred addressed his brother in a warning tone. George ignored him.
"You know, you seem to be intimately fascinated by quidditch players... for someone who doesn't understand, nor even care for the sport. Malfoy, Good, Cedric..." He put his hand to his chin thoughtfully. "And Harry... we can't forget your good friend-"
George didn't get the chance to continue as Alex delivered a sharp, echoing slap across his face. George recoiled, as a red mark started to form on his cheek. Harry heard Ginny release a gasp as George shifted his head to look directly at Alex. The pair stood inches apart, staring at each other with a hatred that Harry never thought he'd see the two direct towards each other.
"Don't. Ever. Speak to me again." Alex said to him, her eyes holding back tears as she pointed her index finger at George in warning.
"Wasn't planning on it." He spat back.
Alex shook her head in disappointment before turning around sharply and charging out of the room. Ron glanced between George and Alex a few times before following her out.

"That game was pure rubbish." Fred said after the quidditch match. Harry silently nodded to himself in agreement. The team was making their way back to the Gryffindor common room, with the rest of the team ahead of them discussing their loss. Fred and Harry sauntered towards the back silently. Harry suspected they both wanted to discuss what had transpired during the time-out.
"George seemed to be in an off mood... not that I blame him. Malfoy always seems to know how to get under my skin." Harry said to Fred. He glanced beside him to see Fred looking at him with a displeased frown.
"It's a little more complicated than that." He replied, briefly glancing at his twin up ahead of them. "George shouldn't have said those things to Alex. Especially mentioning Cedric... and you. She told us what happened between you two in confidence."
"I didn't know she'd told anyone..." Harry said in surprise. From Harry's knowledge, the only other person who knew about their kiss was Cedric, who wasn't even alive to tell anyone. He wondered if she had mentioned it to anyone else. "We both agreed we didn't want it to get back to Justin or Sirius. It would make things... complicated."
"Of which it won't." Fred assured him. "George is being an idiot..." He sighed. "Do you plan to tell Justin about the fight?"
"No, not at all." Harry replied immediately. Justin and Harry were already not on the best terms with Alex. After all the problems between the siblings, most of which was due to Justin's over involvement in her friendships and relationships, Harry knew it was better not to discuss anything regarding Alex with Justin. "I think it's best not to. I'm sure Ginny will mention it to him... maybe. I doubt Ron will even say anything."
Fred ran a hand down his face. "I'm more concerned about getting these two to make up. If Alex'll even forgive him."
"Good luck..."

"Stunning is one of the most useful spells in your arsenal. It's sort of a wizard's bread and butter." Justin explained as he walked across the room, addressing the members of Dumbledore's Army. They were lined up in two rows, facing each other, a clearing between them. A redhead first year named Nigel stood in the center on one side while Harry stood on the other side. "Nigel and Harry will demonstrate for us." Justin added before motioning towards Nigel.
"Go ahead, Nigel." Harry motioned. "Give me your best shot."
The first year hesitated as he held out his wand, pointing it at Harry. He dropped his arm almost immediately.
"Go on, Nigel." Justin encouraged him.
The boy nodded to himself unconfidently before lifting his wand again. "Stupefy!"
Harry flew back the same time as Nigel, both falling back on opposite sides of the room.
"Not bad, Nigel!" Justin said excitedly. It had only been a few weeks since they'd been practicing and he was impressed by everyone's progress.
Harry say up and groaned. "Not bad at all."
"Alright, why don't we give Harry a reprieve. Another pair? How about Hermione and Ron?" He looked at his friends.
Ron looked at Hermione nervously. "Don't worry Mione, I'll go easy on you."
"Thanks, Ron." Hermione replied sarcastically. The pair went to opposites sides of the room, taking the places of Ron and Nigel.
"You got this Ron!" Dean called out mockingly while Fred and George snickered beside him. Justin started to rethink pairing the two. Ron was toast.
Ron started to lift his wand when Hermione beat him to it. "Stupefy!" She called out, pointing her wand at Ron. He fell back, his back hitting the floor. Justin stifled a laugh by coughing as all the girls surrounded Hermione to congratulate her.
Ron groaned as he started to get up off the floor. Justin approached his friend and held out his hand to help him up. Ron accepted the help before he walked over to his brothers. "I let her do that. It's good manners, isn't it?" He told them, the twins looked at him unconvinced. They watched as Hermione and the other girls snickered at Ron. "It was completely intentional." Ron added.
Since I accidentally posted the last part twice, looks like I'll be posting another.
