When it became dark, they made their way to the drive in, where the movie was already playing. They had the money to get in the legal way however, they were sticking with going the illegal route. It would usually be a quarter per person. They all snuck inside through underneath a hole at the bottom on one side of the fence.

Afterwards, they started walking further into the drive-in, where there were other patrons there with their cars, watching the film that was on the screen. As they walked, they could hear an argument between two soc girls and their boyfriends, but they passed them without saying a word.

Meanwhile, a drunk Two-Bit was there too, holding a beer in one hand. He was stumbling next to a car that had its window rolled down. "Hey, baby! You wanna see what's hanging?" he asked, slurring his words a bit while laughing like an idiot. The patrons in the car weren't all that amused. "Gonna hang you, Two-Bit," the driver said.

Dally and them had found seats that sat in front of the concession store so they leaped over the railing that separated them from the other seats. It was Dally, Ponyboy, Bexley, and Johnny in that order when they sat down.

Two-Bit had sneakily yanked a girl's skirt up playfully while shouting, "Whoo-hoo!" The girl retaliated by slapping him across the face. "God, you filthy greaser!" she shouted before taking off. He didn't care that she had slapped him; He only laughed hysterically as he leaned against the adjacent car.

After the other greasers sat down, the two soc girls sat down in front of them. It was a soc girl with long red hair while her friend had short brunette hair, looking about 17 years old. "I'm gonna see a movie. I don't care what he says," the red-head said, still upset with her boyfriend. Ponyboy started rubbing his bare arms because it was cold. "I'm freezing, man," he complained. Dally got out another smoke - lighting it with the necklace he had around his neck.

"Why didn't you bring a damn coat?" he scolded while trying to light it. "I forgot it," Ponyboy answered. Bexley rubbed her eyes, knowing that her little brother wasn't exactly street smart. "I keep telling you to grab it, Pone," she told him, finding herself cold as well.

Dally noticed the two girls in front of them and decided to use his charm on them. He'd play his usual dirty tricks when it comes to being around girls. He even flirted with Bexley a time or two, but she was quick to turn him down. Hopefully, he wouldn't do anything bad to them.

After Dally lit his smoke, he leaned back in his seat as he checked the red-head out. "Some cute redhead, ain't she?" he said before he leaned forward, getting close to her ear. "Are you a reaaal redhead? Huh? Are you real?" he said flirtatiously as he leaned back in his seat.

"Alright, I'm gonna get a coke," Johnny announced as he got up from his seat. "Oh, Johnny, mind getting me one? I got the money for it," Bexley requested, pulling some change from her jeans pocket. "Sure. I'll be right back," the dark-haired greaser replied, walking over to the concession stand with that money.

Dally tried to be smooth by resting his feet against the back of the empty seat in front of him, only for him to fall out of it like a klutz. Ponyboy and Bexley couldn't help but laugh at what had happened. Without missing a beat, Dally sat back down in his seat to keep flirting with the red-headed soc girl. He gave the siblings a wink.

After a while, Johnny came back with the drinks, giving one to Bexley. "Thanks, Johnnycake," she said to him, grinning at him. "You're welcome," he replied back to her, his dark face becoming red. Johnny saw Dally messing around with the soc girl just after he had sat down. "Come on, cut it out, Dal," he said, but it fell on deaf ears.

Dally wouldn't stop messing around with the red-head soc girl, which was starting to irritate her. It was becoming increasingly obvious. "Would you get your feet off my chair and shut your mouth?" she shouted at him, glancing over her shoulder to look at him. However, Dally wasn't fazed by what she said.

"Who's gonna make me? Your boyfriend is gonna force me to?" he chortled, still teasing her. The brown haired soc girl leaned closer to the red head and whispered, "Isn't that the greaser who just got out of jail or something?" Dally could hear this and he smiled, acting as if he was admiring this.

"If you don't stop, I'll call the cops," the red-head growled at him. "Oh, my god! I'm shaking in my boots! What am I gonna do now, you guys? This chick is scaring me to death," he said ironically, glancing over at Bexley and Ponyboy for a second. "How about you leave us alone? Why don't you be nice and leave us alone?" the red-headed girl asked, trying to be more civil about this.

"I'm never nice. So can I interest you in a coke or a 7-UP?" he asked, leaning forward towards her. However, she had had enough of what Dally was doing and she snapped at him, "GET LOST, HOOD!" Dally was taken aback by this girl's fiery attitude and he leant back in his seat.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know you had this issue with… um… yelling in my face. Alright, fine, I'll go. I know when to stop," he said as he got up from where he sat, walking away from the group. Ponyboy, Johnny, and Bexley knew that he was lying about that though - he would be back.

Ponyboy sighed and he tried watching the movie that played on the screen. Bexley and Johnny glanced at one another for a second. Then, the red-head glared back at Ponyboy with the same fire in her eyes. "You going to start on us next?" she hissed at him, making him jump back a bit.

"N-No," he said while shaking his head. This girl was good-looking for sure. The look on her face softened at how he said this. It wasn't like him to hit on girls like Dally would. "You don't look the type. What's your name?" she asked him. Ponyboy never liked saying what his name was because it was so unique yet odd.

"Ponyboy Curtis," he said softly. Both soc girls smiled at the unique name that he had. "What about her?" the red-head asked, glancing over at Bexley. "Oh, I'm Bexley. And this is Johnny," Bexley introduced, using her thumb to point at Johnny next to her. Ponyboy's face became red, seeming nervous about their reactions to their names.

"Those are unique names. Are the two of you related?" the red-head asked them. "Yeah, I'm his older sister," Bexley clarified. "It makes sense since you two are related," the red-head said, seeing the similarities between the two siblings. "So, what's the history behind your names?" the soc girl asked.

"Our dad was an original guy. Our other brother is called Sodapop. Take a look at his birth certificate. He's my twin," Bexley said with a crooked grin before she took a sip of her drink. The red-head smiled again before she said, "I'm Sherri, but my friends call me Cherry because of my hair,"

"We know. You're a cheerleader at our school," Ponyboy told her, smiling back at her. To Cherry, Bexley didn't look any older than Ponyboy because of their height difference. Even Ponyboy didn't look old enough to have skipped a grade, going into high school. "You look too young to be going to high school. And she doesn't look old enough to be your older sister," Marcia, the brown-haired girl, said, taking note of their appearances.

"Yeah, I'm older than Pony. I just have inadequate height," Bexley clarified before taking another drink. She hated her height, but knew it was something she couldn't really help - It made her look younger than she really was. "What're nice kids like you guys doing around that trash for?" Cherry asked them.

The siblings felt a pang of guilt from her saying that. "Well, Dally is our buddy. He's a greaser like us. We're friends with him," Ponyboy said with a frown. "Oh, sorry, I didn't know. So does Sodapop work at the DX in town?" Cherry asked them curiously. "Yeah, the one with the gold hair is him," Ponyboy said with a nod. "He works with his friend, Steve Randle," Bexley told her with a smile.

"He's a sweetie. Should've known he was your brother," Cherry said, getting the siblings to smile as their faces became red. Bexley was a spitting image of Sodapop but it was obvious that they were related. This made Ponyboy grin at what she said. Johnny had come back from getting a refill at the concession stand.

"Can I ask why he isn't in school with you guys?" Cherry asked them. They both frowned a bit when she asked that. It wasn't something that they were proud of admitting. "It's because he's a drop out. He works full time since our folks died," Bexley said, glancing downwards at her drink that was in her hand.

To others, dropouts were referred to brainless hoodlums that just didn't see any point in their education and wanted to live a life of leisure. It was something that Dally wouldn't mind doing since he got into trouble a lot. Right on cue, Dally had come back with three drinks in his arms. One for Marcia, Cherry, and himself.

When he handed one to Cherry and another to Marcia. "Here, this'll cool you off," he said to Cherry as he sat down next to her. However, Cherry didn't take kindly to this and she chucked the drink right into Dally's face, making him jolt back as the sugary drink dripped from his face. "Maybe that'll cool you off, greaser! You learn to talk and act right, I might do it too!" she shouted angrily at him.

After Dally wiped his face with his jacket sleeve, he smiled at her mischievously. "Whoa, a wild one, huh? Just the way I like them," he said as he tried grabbing for Cherry. The others didn't like what he was doing, giving each other uneasy glances. They couldn't let this go on. "Get off of me! Ow!" she shouted as she tried freeing herself.

Johnny was the one to break the silence. He stood to his feet and he shouted, "Leave her alone, Dal," he said, sounding more stern than he ever had in his whole life. Dally stopped what he was doing and looked up at the dark-faced greaser. He was in disbelief that he spoke up like that.

"What?" he asked, his eyes slightly widening. "You heard me, leave her alone," Johnny repeated. Nobody ever stood up to Dally like before. "What'd you say to me, you little shit? What'd you say to me?" he dangerously hissed at him. "C'mon," Johnny said again. At this point, anybody else who had said that to him would've lost a tooth or two - but he wouldn't hurt Johnny.

"Wise ass," was all Dally said before he got up from his seat. He then stormed off from the group. After Dally had left, Cherry sighed in relief and she leaned back in her seat.
