Chapter 14 plans unveiled and mystery solved
Author's notes I do not own Marvel just the idea for this fic which is set in an AU Along with my OC's Jack and Graham Williams and others who might show up in this fic in future chapters like The Serpent. Also, some characters will be OOC in this story.
This chapter has a scene in it, inspired by some dialogue in Captain America Brave New World, a good film, no spoilers in regards to the film if readers have seen the film. I don't want readers who haven't seen the film yet to get it spoiled on them.
I once again must address some reviews; seems some people do not like what I write.
Guest: This is my fanfic at the end of the day, not yours. If I want to have my OC's, like Jack Williams in it going forward. I damn will, his arc is not finished yet.
Plus, Cameron was a traitor to SHIELD, so in Jack's eyes that means Cameron is just as bad as those scumbags in HYDRA, who were in SHIELD, traitors in plain sight.
And do not go starting arguments with other reviewers on here. Last thing I need is reviewers arguing with one another in reviews, like I have seen happen elsewhere and be chaotic!
Also, I will not allow you to make comments about what other reviewers say in their own comments going forward. Not going to have readers going mad at each other, just read the story going forward. Any comments you make criticising other reviewers and their passionate comments, going forward will be deleted.
Thunder and Salamander: I am glad both of you like what happened in the last chapter and were not as critical as Guest was in his comments, in your reviews.
Mr Kai: You will learn what Madame HYDRA is up to, soon.
TIM: I agree these scammers need to be banned, but your comment about them is going a bit too far, but I will not delete your comment. Scammers are among the lowest of the low and can ruin people's lives with their actions.
Furthermore, one vile person in a guest review that I did delete, made the horrible allegation this story is written via AI. I never have and never, ever will use AI. How dare you make such an accusation about me and use that word to insult me that you used in that review, that just makes me sick.
And this story was first started to be worked on, before all this AI crap came along.
Anymore horrible comments like that, will be deleted. So do not comment like that again in the future.
Well, that is enough of an author's notes, on with chapter 14.
Uganda
As Sam Wilson was arrested, he saw neither Clint or Wanda were being arrested and he knew why in just a few seconds, to confirm it, he asked Clint "How long were you an inside man?"
Clint answered honestly "Since before Cap contacted me. SHIELD knew some might oppose the Accords, so as a final mission to my old employers I took on the job. Wanda was happy to help, she is getting US Citizenship and wants to make amends for the past."
Wanda said "I am going to have another chance to do better. Not many of us get that chance."
Clint and Wanda were introduced to the Guardians of the Galaxy and caught up on what info they did not know. Tony asked Wanda about these rivalries among HYDRA cells, who told Tony that Strucker stayed out all of that, he preferred to watch the other cells try and wipe each other out in this infighting, in efforts to try become the head of HYDRA.
Tony thought to himself 'If only more of these HYDRA bastards killed each other. Would have made things so much easier.'
Sam was taken out of the base by SHIELD agents, who alerted Director Coulson to the situation, as Clint and Wanda were to aid in this hunt for HYDRA, whatever plans they had in mind for Captain America, no matter what, could not be good.
HYDRA needed to be wiped out, once and for all.
As this was happening at the HYDRA base in Uganda, teams were at the other HYDRA base in South Africa, a lot of HYDRA members there were found dead, some killed execution style. It seems that the man in charge of HYDRA, the Serpent was getting rid of weak links in the organization.
The SHIELD teams, along with those from Wakanda, were looking for any and all info that might have been left behind, so far, they found nothing.
HYDRA was good at one thing, covering their tracks as SHIELD knew from experience in the past.
Elsewhere In Europe, the CIA in cooperation with Europol was taking down a HYDRA cell in Germany and learned something interesting, passing on the info to SHIELD's Team Hunter.
The CIA had some HYDRA prisoners on route for SHIELD to take possession, in the spirit of cooperation between their two organizations.
Washington DC
Secretary of State, Thaddeus Ross was walking down to an old sight he often used to go to when he a general serving at the Pentagon, he smiled as he remembered the past.
How he took his then young daughter Betty to see the Cherry Blossoms around the city, a treat for her on weekends if she did well in school, he wondered about a lot of things in the past, his life up to this point, serving his country, fighting in Vietnam, marrying Karen, having their daughter, their little genius as Karen called her when she was kid. He did not regret any of that, would not change a thing.
But other things, he wished, that he could go back and change, what happened with Banner, Project Gamma Pulse, hunting him down for years. It was all a mistake and it cost him what mattered most, that plus his heart attack had made him leave the military and accept an offer from President Ellis, become Secretary of State, after the previous person in the role stepped down to care for his wife who was ill with cancer.
Ross had taken to the role quickly, he had some clear goals when he took on the job, keep America and their allies safe from acts of aggression from rogue states, ensure not many disasters happen in President Ellis's second term, help keep the peace, show that he can be more than just a soldier, a man of war, how he can be a man of peace.
Most important of all, show Betty that he had changed, that he was trying to be a better man, a better father, make up for the past.
Ross stopped thinking of all that and just looked out at this sight in front of him, smiling at the Cherry Blossoms, as he heard a familiar voice behind him "Dad."
Ross turned around and smiled, nearly crying tears of joy, it was his daughter Betty.
She walked over and stood alongside him saying about the Cherry Blossoms, "I always enjoyed coming here, it was fun."
Ross nodded in agreement as his daughter explained "Bruce reached out. Told me to give you another chance. Apparently, you made peace with him."
Ross answered "Yeah. I did. After the heart attack I had, the hours of surgery. It gave me time to think. About the past, my actions. I hated myself. I want to be a better man, show you that I am, the same man who once took you here on the weekend, spoiled you rotten with ice cream as a child."
Betty hugged her father saying "You've shown it, you are my father and I'm proud of you."
Ross started to cry as he and Betty started to catch up, it was long overdue, they decided to go to a nearby Ice Cream shop. Good moments like this deserved, something nice like Ice Cream, as Ross would tell his daughter when she was a child many years ago.
Today was a good day and Ross noted to himself to thank Bruce Banner for making this possible.
CIA transport plane over international waters
The lead agent of the team, Escobar contacted HQ and let them know what was coming, so their new friends in SHIELD knew what they would do to get intel both organizations wanted.
The HYDRA members were the only ones taken alive in a raid on a HYDRA research base in Germany, the scientist was willing to cooperate, the others were refusing to do so.
Agent Escobar, looked over at one of the captured HYDRA members and addressed the others saying "The flight plan. I just filed, lists me, my men, Dr Franklin here, but only one of you three men."
One of the CIA agents opened the door of the plane, as it was going over international waters, Escobar, got out a pistol, as one of the captives was brought over to it and Escobar yelled out "First one to talk. Gets to stay on this plane!"
Escobar pointed the gun at the first of the three HYDRA goons yelling "What were the other dead scientists working on in that base?"
Getting no answer Escobar shot the man dead and the body was thrown out into the sea as Escobar yelled "He did not fly so good! Who wants to go next?"
Another HYDRA goon was brought over and Escobar yelled "Tell me about The Serpent! Why does he wear the mask! What is that bastard up to!"
Escobar was about to fire, the goon, could see the bullet down the barrel and wanting to live yelled out "The Serpent wanted our cel in HYDRA to work on something, use it to cause absolute chaos for the west."
Escobar looked at Dr Franklin yelling "What did he want done?"
Dr Franklin, who had been hoping to hold onto his trump card, answered the truth honestly saying "The Serpent ordered our cell to finish work on something, as a last resort weapon and use it. A dirty bomb."
Escobar, immediately got on the phone and contacted headquarters, HYDRA just raised the stakes big time.
HYDRA HQ
The Serpent was waiting, alongside, his wife Madame Hydra, who was now using a wheelchair to get around, till she regained strength in her legs to walk again, she had been overjoyed when her husband told her of the surprise on the way and wanted to see it arrive in person.
A convoy of vehicles arrived at the base and over 50 armed men and women were waiting as the still unconscious Steve Rogers, Captain America was brought out of a van, strapped to a bed, in restraints not even the Winter Soldier could get out of.
Madame Hydra looked at the strike team who brought her this gift, saying with a smile "Well done."
The scientists were told that they now had what was needed to ensure Project Resurgence was going to work, a living body with enough Super Soldier Serum, they needed, they could drain him and keep him alive, so their supply would not run out, he would be like a plump Christmas goose, fatten him up first, before they got to work.
In the research labs, Doctor Robert Charles along with Dr Wilfred Nagel were waiting for their doner to arrive, when he did, Doctor Charles ordered his team to start preparing to drain Steve Rogers of some blood, so Dr Wilfred could get the super soldier serum for them and get to work.
Project Resurgence was now picking up steam. When it was a success, HYDRA would be unstoppable. All their soldiers would become super soldiers and SHIELD would become mere bugs waiting to be squashed, the Avengers, those who are left would be taken out and the world would shake in fear.
The Serpent and his wife went to their quarters to enjoy some dinner, the happy couple were overdue, time alone, for a good romantic meal. HYDRA did have a great chef, who could make whatever their members desired to enjoy, tonight the happy couple were in the mood for some Italian food.
HYDRA had a lot to celebrate and a good to start that was with a lovely meal with lots of Pasta and a nice wine.
New York City
It late at night in New York, as both Agent Jack Williams and Natasha Romanoff walked down into a subway, Natasha reached out to some old contacts, very old, see if anyone could get them any info on the new head of HYDRA, The Serpent, the fishing expedition got a bite.
Someone was waiting with info for them, a man standing with his back to a wall, under a light, the man was smoking and said in his Australian accent "Heard through the wire, you are looking for info on someone codenamed Serpent. Now I was never here and we never spoke. That man was one of ours. ASIS, Australian Secret Intelligence Service. One of the very best. Not a usual spy who are 5 dollars a dozen, he is brilliant. After a mission went bad, he turned on us, joined with HYDRA."
Jack asked "What was the mission?"
The man answered "An operation to take out a Russian Oligarch who had been involved in some black-market weapons dealing, He was killed on his yacht, there were to be no witnesses, so that meant, his children who were with him on the boat, also had to be taken off the board. Clearly that broke him. We have tried to take him out ourselves, with no luck. All that has happened now elsewhere in the world, maybe you guys in SHIELD will have much better luck. This man your now after, he is like a chess master, thinking several moves ahead, he has a plan and something tells me, that plan whatever it is, will soon be reaching its endgame. Clock's ticking."
He handed them a file from the ASIS, the personnel file of the traitorous agent in question remarking "When you take him down. Put a bullet in his brain."
With the info they needed on their enemy, Jack and Nastasha left heading back to the blacksite, they were going to be up late, reading this info, while the rest of Team Hunter was helping the CIA and other agencies looking to the possibility HYDRA was looking to use a dirty bomb.
As they got to work, both Jack and Natasha thought of what they learned, The Serpent was like a chess master, thinking ahead, they both had the same thought, this claim of a dirty bomb could just be a distraction, have everyone scrambling looking for that, to hide their primary objective, this Project Resurgence, HYDRA now had a scientist who was obsessed with the Super Soldier Serum, they now had the criminal Captain America in custody as well.
A diversion to buy HYDRA time to get that finished. HYDRA was clearly desperate to get time, they must be low on manpower and resources and need time, HYDRA might be on their last legs.
All they had to do, was find HYDRA and cut off the final head of the evil snake. Wherever they were hiding, like rats in a sewer.
HYDRA HQ
Blinding pain and one hell of a headache were the first things that came to Steve Rogers when he started to finally come to, he heard voices, getting louder as he struggled to open his eyes, he was unable to move and he knew immediately that something was very, very wrong, as memories of what happened came back to him.
He was last at a HYDRA base, with Sam and the others, they used some gas and now he must be in a HYDRA facility.
Steve opened his eyes and saw he was in a laboratory and scientists were wearing the HYDRA emblem on their coats, with several armed guards in the room, with a HYDRA logo clear as day on the wall.
Steve looked down and saw the restraints, large metal locks were covering his arms and legs, as a scientist who saw he was awake said with laughter "No even someone twice as a strong as you can get out of those. Only someone like your pal Banner could and last I checked; you cannot turn into a giant green rage monster."
A voice called out "Back to work Robertson, otherwise, you might be deemed least important to the project and got rid of."
An older man stepped forward and said with a smile "Hello Steve Rogers. We have never been properly introduced; my name is Dr Robert Charles. We actually have a mutual friend. Bucky Barnes. I oversaw the Winter Soldier Project, well I took over from the original head back in 64, since then, I became close with Bucky. You could say I became a best friend to him and I feel before long, I will be your best friend too."
He then stuck a needle in Steve and began extracting blood from the disgraced former Avenger, as a woman in a wheelchair entered the lab, a woman in green attire with green hair. Alongside was a tall man, wearing black and red armour, with a black skull mask, with red eyes on his head.
The woman said "I feel that I must thank you. In your blind arrogance in defying the world governments who wanted the Sokovia Accords. You made it so much easier for my loving, loyal husband to have you captured. A lovely gift to have after waking up from my coma that those SHIELD bastards put me in! My name is Madame HYDRA. I now lead HYDRA."
As she got eye to eye with Steve Rogers, Madame HYDRA asked "Are you surprised. Still stuck in the old, ways of thinking, shocked that a woman in the modern day, could lead a group like HYDRA?"
Steve spoke up "Always thought women would be good leaders. Shame you went to join HYDRA and not a group like SHIELD instead. Peggy Carter was proof women could be great leaders long before you took over this organization. HYDRA is still evil, just with a good-looking woman for recruitment posters."
Madame HYDRA spoke up "She had to claw and fight her way for years against sexist men, fools who tried to keep her down. Even you might have helped keep her down, if it helped you, as a lot of men in your time would do so. The late Peggy Carter was a good woman. May she rest in peace. If she was alive today and in her prime. She might even be part of HYDRA. Not listening to fools who think they know better than a woman. Plus, she would look hot in a HYDRA uniform. I can see why she liked you. You are an attractive man. If I was not a married woman, the things I would do to you Steve Rogers, but my husband really does not like other men who flirt with me, and we need you alive. For now."
Steve asked "Why not just kill me. Do what Red Skull could not do. Become a legend among HYDRA. Prove you are superior to even him, the man who founded HYDRA. By killing me right here, right now."
The man in black and red armour laughed speaking up for the first time "You really are a fool, Steve Rogers. And so ignorant about us, the legendary Sun Tzu would be so disappointed in you. In The Art of War, he said it best, know your enemy. You see, Red Skull was following the principles that HYDRA was built upon. That ultimate power was not of this world. You see in reality. HYDRA. We are much, much older than just a few decades and certainly been around a lot longer than fascism. We go back centuries and now, we will finish the work, those in HYDRA started so long ago, we will drain you and drain you, to the point of death, give you lifesaving blood transfusions, use your blood to get the Super Soldier Serum and use it on our own people. We will use the gift you were given by Doctor Abraham Erskine to restore HYDRA to glory. His great work, will serve, a far better cause then he could ever have possibly imagined."
Madame HYDRA then smiled and leaned over to Steve Rogers, kissing him on the lips for several moments, before breaking the forced kiss, saying with a smile "That is how women in Hungary like me say goodbye."
She used her wheelchair to leave the room, as her husband, the Serpent leaned over and smiled behind his mask, taking hold a baton in his hands saying "And this is how men like me in Australia say goodbye, Steve Rogers."
Serpent used the baton to beat their captive into unconsciousness as Dr Charles smiled saying "Good. Best to not have him awake during this. Once we have enough blood from him. Dr Wilfred Nagel will do what he said he can do, once he shows me how to do it. We will kill him, as he will have outlived his usefulness to us. After that, Project Resurgence will be a success."
Serpent said "When the Serum is modified. I will be the first to receive it. When we know it works 100% as we intend it to, then you will give it to my wife and our leader Madame HYDRA and then give it out to the troops. HYDRA will then be, dare I say it. A force to be reckoned with. The world will shake in fear, SHIELD will be powerless to stop us. The Avengers who are left, will be overwhelmed. Then, we can start to grab power, causing crisis and chaos worldwide."
As Serpent and Dr Charles discussed their grand plans, unbeknownst to them, Dr Wilfred Nagel was at the computer, he was 'assigned' to and when the guards watching him were busy talking amongst themselves about some crap on Netflix in idle small talk, he used the computer and the internet access he had to go onto a dark web site that he knew from past interactions with some of the CIA, monitored and put out a discreet message for help.
He hoped it would get to someone who could help him get out of this situation.
The message was seen by a CIA analysist who ran it up to his superiors and seeing it was info on HYDRA's main base, contacted their new friends in SHIELD to give them the information.
Within 10 minutes, both Team Hunter and the Avengers had the information. HYDRA had a main base of operations in Australia, seems that The Serpent being ex Australian Intelligence put a base right on home soil, as a way for him to mock his old bosses.
The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and SHIELD put together a joint team to and take down HYDRA once and for all.
It was time to finish this fight.
