Trained by her mother, former chieftess of Sun Do, Li Mei soon became a powerful and humble warrior. A great fighter such as herself was useful for the village as they struggled fending off the few soldiers of the Kahn Guard who had been sent to attack the village. This came as a resilt of the villagers coming to a mutual agreement that they would defy the demands of Emperor Shao Kahn. The village publicly spoke out against Shao Kahn and also refused to pay what was known as the Kahn Grant. The terms to this grant were that the people of Outworld needed to pay a great sum of money (1000 Koins) a month which didn't vary no matter what economical state a person was in, which led to the poor having to join the Kahn Guard for only they avoided having to pay such a fee as the grant's cause was to strengthen the Guard itself to help support Kahn's obsession with conquering the realms. But SUn Do refused and would choose to fend off the soldiers who would make their monthly assault on the rather poor village. Fortunately, the attackers were only coming in small numbers... that was until one day Shao Kahn himself had enough of hearing about Sun Do and it's rebellious ways, so he launched an assault on the village that was led by himself to assure victory and dominance over the rebels. The residents of Sun Do were soon forced to surrender after their leader was quickly and brutally pummeled to death by Shao Kahn and his lethal Wrath Hammer. Li Mei's mother was dead and this sent her into a fit of rage as she took her mother's sword and tried to kill the tyrant ruler only to be knocked down by the Emperor and his heavy Wrath Hammer. Kahn admired Li Mei's skill and decided to give the warrior a more than harsh offer which was to serve him well in order for Sun Do to stay standing and it's residents alive.
