Former Protector God of Vaeternus, now the Princess of the Netherrealm. Iris is one of two Gods created by the ruler of the Netherrealm: Shinnok. Her creation at first was for good purposes back when Shinnok was willingly aiding the other Elder Gods. He made a Protector God and a unique God who could watch over the tainted souls that would travel to the Netherrealm, who went by the name Kharon. Though distant, the three always shared a family bond. Shinnok eventually fell from grace which led to his imprisonment in the Netherrealm with Iris unable to be involved during such matters due to her obligation to protect Vaeternus. Iris' fate was soon met with Shao Kahn and his Wrath Hammer when the fellow God successfully conquered her realm and brutally killed her. She was soon brought to the Netherrealm out of the Elder Gods' spite as she frequently tried to defend her creator/father. Shinnok couldn't risk Iris' temper becoming problematic and putting his realm at the threat of Shao Kahn and instead demanded Kharon to keep a hold of her soul to prevent her natural reformation until she was needed. That time has now come. Iris will now serve Lord Shinnok as he seeks to seize control of all the realms.
